The middleman buys yams at the MARKET PRICE in September and sells at market price from January. Please explain what he's done wrong. Have you considered storage? Most farmers aren't into storage and need middlemen to uptake their products and provide warehousing facilities. Otherwise, you'd have a glut of yam in September and no yams in the markets by January, there'd be a lot of waste and food crisis will be worse. I know there are greedy people, but these middlemen Nigerians love to demonise mostly provide an essential service.

Using storage as an excuse won't hold using Nigeria as a case study... Because even when the product is supposed to be abundance in supply and be cheap they deliberately hoard (store) it to influence price to an unreasonable amount.... Imagine buying a tuber of yam for 6k..... Is storage just a new factor? Of Cos it been a Major factor before Which is already considered B4 deciding the market price

Most food inflation is as a result of hoarders nothing else... Last year when the price of Rice crashed.... My foodstuffs vendor went to market to restock with the new price (65k) I think.... But merchant (hoarders) at bodija market have agreed not to sell..... To buy one bag you will have to beg nd still pay the old price.... Within two days the price skyrocketed again

I ask because I have an aged uncle in Austria who's supposed to send almost 100k since last weekend but couldn't.

According to him, he traveled to another city for work. When I called him this morning.. he said he's inside train .. that he will go and give the person that he usually gives money to send for me..
