Does the government back private investors? It's a risk you take knowing fully well anything can happen and you can't really pin that on anyone.

So you see? There is a system and severe consequences when you decide to be smarter than everyone else.

In a sane environment where there is a system and it is enforced -
You trust the restaurant that if they cook bad food they will be shut down. It doesn't take long actually
You trust your driver because he doesn't want to lose his job
Nanny - we've heard many stories and you can see the human inclination to be evil - so you've got cameras everywhere
The list goes on....
As you said yourself, you can't know the minds of people and the most efficient way to get most people everyone fulfil the end of their bargain is by law and order. Ain't no other way.

Seankafor every transaction in the world involves certain level of trust. The bank you are keeping your money how do you know they are not planning to run away with your deposit? The bus you enter how do you know the driver knows how to drive and he's not going to plunge you into a river? The mama put you eat how do you know she's not serving you with rotten animals?
The example of the nepa illegal connection do you expect Nepa to be coming into every house in Nigeria to be checking your connection daily to protect them

You see the trust chain in every transaction you do

How do you build trust - is it not knowing that both parties will play their parts? And there will be consequences if they don't.
The bank you keep your money is purely a business interest and a working government guarantees the safe keep of your money.
So you can with all confidence know that someone is "insuring" that trust.
We need to have a system in place and enforce that system. Those in power to do so MUST do so, otherwise, ko le work.

This is NOT specific to Nigerians alone. It's human nature to want to form oversabi and bypass the system. It how we are built.
Take over speeding for instance - Most people (all over the world) don't over speed not because they are nice or not Nigerians, they don't over speed because they don't want to pay a fine or lose their license.
That's accountability and enforcing a system that is in place.
If you don't enforce a system, it is basically non-existent.

2. Economy - what exactly are we going to produce? Surely we can't compete in the technology area.
Agriculture you say? That would be interesting. A lot of investment is obviously needed in that area. Where do we source the investment from?
3. On governance - Cutting spending? Is he going to close some parastatals or reduce salary for government workers, officials including the presidency?
4. On power - For me oh, this is the number 1 problem after security. Fix this and we will all be smiling to the bank. haha.
5. Corruption - He is going to cut spending and then stop corruption? Again, if he can pull this off....
