NEWS COVID-19: Nnamdi Kanu attacks Buhari for ordering stay at home without national broadcast Published on April 12, 2020 By Seun Opejobi The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest directive ordering Nigerians to stay at home. In a bid to further tackle the spread of Coronavirus across the country, President Buhari had yesterday urged Nigerians to remain at home. Buhari had assured Nigerians that relief materials will soon be distributed to their homes. However, Kanu described the President’s remark as fraudulent. In a post on his official Facebook handle, the IPOB leader wondered why Buhari failed to give the address in a nationwide broadcast but opted for a statement signed by his spokesperson. The post reads: “COVID-19: “Stay At Home, I Will Take Care Of You” – President Buhari Tells Nigerians “To prove to you how fraudulent the few redundant scammers in Aso Rock really are, a statement of such magnitude and cataclysmic importance was not delivered by a president but was contained in an obscure statement signed by an inconsequential political appointee in the person of Garba Shehu. “The reason we painstakingly point these absurdities out is to drive home the TRUTH that there isn’t any Buhari in Aso Rock or any elected official in charge of the business of state in this tumultuous period of life and death.”

National At Easter, Buhari seeks prayers to pull through COVID-19 pandemic By Terhemba Daka, Abuja 11 April 2020 | 4:26 am Director General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu (left); Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; President Muhammadu Buhari; Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire and Director General, National Agency for Control of Aids, Dr. Sani Aliyu shortly after receiving briefing from the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 in the State House…yesterday. PHOTO: PHILIP OJISUA • Says Stay-At-Home Order, To Save Country From Calamity President Mohammadu Buhari has declared that a combined fervent prayer by the Christian faithful and other Nigerians will aid the nation to quickly pull through the ravaging coronavirus pandemic besetting the country. He said: “There is no better opportunity than now for all Christians in particular, and Nigerians in general, to remain faithful and hopeful that with intensified prayers backed by personal and collective responsibility, the nation shall pull through this most difficult trial.” President Buhari, who also urged citizens to avoid getting infected through observing regular hygiene and sanitary practices, as there was currently no known vaccine against the virus, spoke yesterday in his message to Nigerians on the occasion of the commemoration of this year’s Easter, amid the grip with which Covid-19 has held the entire world. Describing the pandemic as “unprecedented in living memory,” the President lamented the situation where majority of Christians have found themselves marking Easter in a subdued manner, away from the usual congregation in churches. “This is unusual and very unfortunate,” he added. While enjoining Christian compatriots to rekindle their faith in Christ who overcame persecution, sufferings and displayed endurance, steadfastness and above all piety, President Buhari noted that, “Jesus Christ represented man’s ability to withstand temporary pains in the hope of everlasting glory.” Continuing, the President urged all Nigerians to imbibe and live the values of humility, discipline, perseverance, sacrifice and obedience which Jesus Christ demonstrated during His stay on earth. His words: “There is no better opportunity than now for all Christians in particular, and Nigerians in general, to remain faithful and hopeful that with intensified prayers backed by personal and collective responsibility, the nation shall pull through this most difficult trial. “I have no doubt that if all stakeholders- individuals and groups-play their part to the fullest as advised by our scientists and medical experts in confronting Covid-19, the inherent resilience and determination of our people will enable us to pull through. “As I stated in my national broadcast on Sunday, March 29, 2020, since there is currently no known vaccine against the virus, the best and most efficient way to avoid getting infected is through regular hygiene and sanitary practices as well as social distancing. “May I use this opportunity to commend the encouraging containment and ameliorating strategies put in place by members of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19. “I am very much aware of the personal and collective inconveniences suffered by our people due to measures such as restriction of movements and closure of business premises. Being ‘a matter of life and death,’ these sacrifices are in everybody’s interest to save our country from calamity. “The welfare of our people is paramount. Accordingly, the most economically vulnerable in our communities will continue to be uppermost in our plans, and efforts will be made to supply them with basic means of survival. “While we see the Covid-19 pandemic as a global challenge, this administration is not oblivious of the constant threat posed to our national security by terrorists and insurgents. They may take this opportunity to perpetrate attacks. “But our armed forces and other security and intelligence services will remain vigilant and continue to contain these threats and consolidate efforts to eradicate them completely. “As we mark this year’s Easter, whatever the circumstances, I encourage you to make the most of the situation, and to keep safe. “I wish you all a Happy Easter.” In this article: CoronavirusCOVID-19easterMohammadu Buhari Receive News Alerts on Whatsapp: +2348136370421. Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for the presidential pardon granted to former governor of old Bendel State, the late Prof. Ambrose Alli, and the late Chief Anthony Enahoro. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said the governor deeply appreciated the presidential pardon, which he had championed in the past few months. Said he, “When the governor graced the memorial service in honour of Alli, he said that he had reached advanced stages of a move to secure presidential pardon for Alli. It is delightful that the pardon has now been granted. “What is also very pleasing is that Enahoro was also granted presidential pardon. Enahoro would always be remembered for his instrumental role in the ideation of what is Nigeria today.” According to him, the state government will continue to sustain the legacies of the late Alli and Enahoro’s noble ideals. Meanwhile, the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) has applauded Buhari for his pardon of 2,600 inmates of correctional services across the country, to promote social distancing towards curbing a coronavirus behind the walls. The group said this against the background that over 70 per cent of inmates of the country’s overcrowded correctional centres were not convicts but awaiting trial due to the slow judicial process in the country. |

Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, had on Saturday hosted a party in honour of her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly called JJC. When the video of the party leaked, the police arrested the actress on Sunday evening and ordered her husband and Naira Marley to report at the station or declared wanted. JJC Skillz and Naira Marley attended the party but were absent during the time of the arrest. The Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, confirmed to The PUNCH that JJC Skillz arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba while Naira Marley hasn’t. Most times I find it highly unbelievable that some individuals will sit at a corner of their rooms and start dishing out fake news. It becomes very disturbing when a mere mortal is wishing another mortal dead. Just like the Yorubas will say, “Oku n sunkun oku". We are all going to die. If you think someone is dead today, it may be your turn tomorrow and that is because we have no power over our lives. Death can come naturally, through illnesses or through accidents. Let me state it here, the fact that someone has Coronavirus does not mean he or she must die. Moreover, people who do not have Coronavirus have died in the past few days, while those who tested positive for COVID-19 are getting better. It is sad when one person will just come up with fake news that the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari has died. That is too much a wish. The person who started that rumour was wise enough. The person didn't mention the name of the top government official who she claimed had died in Aso Rock. But immediately people saw her tweets, they concluded it was Abba Kyari. The reason for that is not farfetched, Abba Kyari tested positive for COVID-19 and there has been lots of rumours about his health condition and whereabouts. In a blink of an eye, the rumour spread like wildfire as people started sharing it here and there. However, there are reasons why any discerning individual will know the Chief of Staff is not dead: 1. Islam: In Islam, it is forbidden to delay the burial of of a dead person. When they say someone has been buried according to Islamic rites, what they are telling you is that, Islam does not support keeping a dead body for more than necessary. A corpse must be buried as early as possible; at most, 24 hours after death. It will be extremely difficult for anybody to delay the burial of a true Muslim. Abba Kyari is a Muslim. There is no burial in his family. The man is alive. Tell fake news writers to stop it! 2. Media Authenticity: Whenever there is a breaking news, it must come from reputable media organisations. It will be very wrong if you rely on information from an individual. The reason is this: media organisations will confirm the authenticity of a claim before reporting it. National dailies like Punch, Vanguard, Tribune, Daily Post, Daily Trust, Independent, Premium Times, Leadership, New Telegraph, This Day, Guardian and others will not publish a story without confirming its authenticity from reliable sources. Don't be surprised, they all have their eyes and ears everywhere. If none of them has reported it, Abba Kyari is still hale and hearty. 3. Statement from Presidency: If truly the Chief of Staff had passed on, I see no reason why the Presidency will hide it from Nigerians. He is not immortal. People who are not as old as he is have died. Why will anybody think the Preidency is hiding the purported death of Kyari? Till when, for how long? If the Presidency does not tell us anybody from their end has died, why are we now spreading unnecessary rumour? Moreover, what will anybody derive from the death of the man? Are you wishing to take over his position? Ladies and gentlemen, it will be advisable if we can desist from spreading fake news. We even need to unfollow some people on the social media because all they feed us with is fake news. As human, we must always remember that death is no respecter of any person. It doesn't respect age, sex, class, colour or religion. That's why You see youths dying while the aged are still living. Abba Kyari is not dead. Stop the rumour!

Nnamdi Kanu, the pioneer of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has guaranteed that President Muhammadu Buhari's across the nation communicated on Sunday was not done from the Presidential Villa. He likewise said it was anything but a live communicate yet recorded. In the midst of cases by Kanu and some others that he has been subtly flown abroad to Cuba, President Buhari made a live communicate from the Aso Rock Villa on Sunday, featuring his administration's endeavors in the battle against Coronavirus. The communicate was publicized on Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, and other neighborhood TV and radio broadcasts. In any case, the IPOB pioneer, in a Facebook post, kept up his prior cases about the President's area, demanding that the communicate was done in an anonymous inn in Cuba. Kanu, who attempted to back his cases with certain focuses, said the outside insight division of his gathering, which he called the "M-Branch" has revealed designs by supposed plot in Aso Rock to quickly create "an imitation of the storm cellar of the inn in Havana Cuba where Jubril Al-Sudani recorded an ineffectively scripted video that circulated on NTA.". |
