You don’t have to be religious or a prophet to realise the world just has to come to an end someday, with the way the affairs of many men is being run by a few men. The minority may oppress the majority with ridiculous and unequal laws for a long time but eventually the majority would reach a breaking point and rebel, the result: catastrophe. Obafemi Awolowo once said : ‘since independence, our governments has been holding the cow for the strongest and the most cunning to milk’. What Awo was saying in essence is that the way the society works had been fashioned to favor the few to the detriment of the majority. Its difficult to have a perfectly fair society, because no human system is/can be really perfect in the real sense of the word but we are supposed to strive to at least have a society were we enact and apply our laws with fairness and equity. Our lawmakers are in my opinion a gang of clowns without the red nose….or maybe they are just very smart, they know the masses are the masses for a reason, they can have anything forced down their throats, so they take the masses for granted.... lonelydora:Lol, dont say that.....There are smart Nigerians too, even though they are in the minority, we just have the not so smart ones in the majority. In a demoracy majority always wins.

donmalcolm21:Nigeria is not Saudi Arabia or England. Saudi Arabia is 99.9 percent muslim, its not logical for a christain ruler to emerge. About England most of the muslims there are either immigrants or children of immigrants. Nigeria is roughly divided between Islam and Christainity so whichever religion a politician is from we cant say he is from a minority religion. I hope you get my point. The key issue am really trying to point out is that can we even describe oir politicians as christains or muslims? With all the atrocities they commit daily, its my opinion that they dont care much about religion, they only play on peoples emotions with the religious card to get votes. If you dont obey Jesus instruction, youre not a christain, same for Mohammed and Islam. |
Smooyis:Well, They get offended when you say a large percentage of the populace are silly, as in the case of tinkinjow above. How can people who refuse to acknowledge their problem librate themselves from it. I do hope The President removes the oil subsidy and provoke a reaction from the people, we can start from there. |
For those who travel abroad they know this very well our country gets so much disrespect from foreigner’s, when stories like that of Pius Adesanmi who wants Air France banned from Nigeria surfaces online,or the Egypt airline maltreatment of Viola,we are all angry, our national pride is hurt. In Dubai, Egypt, Malaysia, South Africa, India and many more countries around the world, our people are humiliated, even the senile Robert Mugabe, president of a joke of a country like Zimbabwe makes jokes about our country. We have sunk really low. But don’t we deserve what we get? Nobody demands respect, respect is earned, does the kind of news that would bring us respect emanate from our country or those that would bring disrespect? True we are Africa’s biggest economy, thanks to oil, but that is nothing special. Even Somalia would be in Africa’s top 10 if they had all this oil. What have we done with all this oil money, science and technology is practically nonexistent in this country, our leaders simply spend or embezzle the money the way it comes, no plans for the future. Even the various excess oil money accounts the government keeps is probably been looted by “them” as i type this. We need to ask ourselves, if we were not Nigerians would we respect a country like Nigeria? I don’t know about you but i wouldn’t respect a country were the president spends more time bickering with state governor’s in the opposition than concentrating on his job, while his peers are on the world stage flexing their muscles, and building influence and reputation for their countries, a country were 7 HOA members can impeach a speaker in a house of 200+ members A country were all the news that reaches the international press is all about terrorism, lynching of ‘people who are different’ like we are barbarians, abductions, slapping and thieving pastors, internet fraud, looting, looting and more looting. Even Nigerians don’t respect Nigeria, how dare we demand respect from the world? Look at the East Asian countries of China, Japan and South Korea, how many times have we heard of their citizens been harrased, i no fit rite long tory, i would end it on this note, If you heard “Japan” or “S Korea” what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? If they hear “Nigeria” guess the things that comes to their mind? Now thats why we are getting no respect. Fed Up Nigerian |

tinkinjow:I am not silly either, enjoyed reading your comment now my reply: I myself am a victim of the corruption prevalent in Nigeria,My dad used to work at one of the government cooperations that was privatised at the end of the OBJ regime,he didnt have up to 5 years left in government service, everyone was laid off,Imagine riding a Peugoet 504 as at 1998, that was the same kind of cars you would see in a governors convoy back then, then suddenly youre laid off in the middle of the construction of your home...when you earn 200 thousand plus in the early 2000's ,youre RICH! Until it drops to 0 naira coming in...it was a hard time for us,the salaries weren't even regular before then...to cut a long story short we suffer small,my papa no fit still government money, believe it or not,we attend one of these Nigerian holyness,no earring,or weavon churches, amd he was a minister there...we are back on solid ground now though. About if i challenge corruption in my environment, i was in SS3 during one of the senatorial elections, some years ago,amd our principal was a friend to one of the aspirants,he ordered all ss2 and 3 students to vote for this friend of his,i hid myself and didnt participate, later discovered they were given 500 naira each, well during our evening prep(boarding school) that day we had a little loud debate,i argued against like 20 other boys about how they were selling their future, regardless if i won or lost,if i see corrupt practices going on around me i speak if i am able,i could speak against corruption with my mates but not the principal! There was also a time this same principal used we students to boost the population of the small town were our school was located, most students were counted twice, thrice, with the collaboration of the census officers and the principal, i also hid myself,if i cant talk,i wont participate either. |
Daluuzor:If you aint satisfied with what you got from notjustok try typing 'Fela Kuti' into the search box at waptrick dot com. |
Trailblazer1:Can you explain further on how his lifestyle contradicts his activism? He spoke against western and easterm religions,he didnt follow those religions,he spoke against western values encroachimg on our traditional values and he was unapologetically African, ever seen a picture of Fela in a suit, maybe there is but i personally am yet to see. If you are saying he cant be a role model, then maybe you can have a point but that his lifestyle contradicts his activism,i dont agree with you. Maybe you can come and tell us a few things we have overlooked. |
omenka:You should look closer into those quotes to comprehend they are deep words,if you still dont see how brilliant they are...then,maybe the problem is with you. |
Fela Kuti! If you haven’t heard of him,you probably need to double check on your Nigerianess. You might want to think he was born into the wrong country,he was indeed a different kind of Nigerian. Most Nigerians are very religious(but not righteous) Fela spoke against the imported religions, during a period were most musicians sang praises of those who mattered in society as is typical of highlife musicians so they could get some ‘change’, Fela spoke against what he percieved were the ills in the society he lived in which of cause was perpetrated by those who mattered in the society. Fedup Nigerian brings you the finest Fela Kuti quotes. 1. “My name is Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Black president or Chief Priest of Shrine.” Fela’s introduction of himself. 2. “I must identify myself with Africa. Then I will have an identity.” How he came up with Afro-beat. 3. “With my music, I create change…I am using my music as a weapon.” Fela’s thoughts on his music. 4. Name? Fela. Just Fela? Yeah, jus’ Fela. Address? My house. Where? Right here, in Surulere, man, yeah!” A conversation between Fela and the police officer who ‘checked’ him in at Alagbon Close police station, the very first time Fela was arrested. 5. “A radical is he who has no sense…fights without reason…I have a reason. I am authentic. Yes, that’s what I am.” His response to the question; would you call yourself a radical? 6. “You no go do so again, you no go come back again, inside barracks you go dey…you go dey where you belong.” His ‘dream’ that the military, deter from seizing political power. 7. “Sufferhead must go. Jeffahead must come.” Further dreams on politics. 8. “Alutta continua…alutta continua, no! it must not continue. The struggle must STOP!”. Still ‘dreaming’ 9. “Bleaching of the body to look lighter is immoral.” Asserting his views on skin lightening. 10. “After all, the military do not just dance to my music, they march to it too.” Fela’s sarcasm on a possible reason for the love-hate relationship between the Nigerian military and himself. 11. “Pastor dress na him dey clean pass e hard for my people dem to buy soap” (in Ofin head of state) 12. “So so water for Africa, water underground, water overland…water for man to drink for town e no dey” (in Original sufferhead) 13. “All the problems for this world,na him we carry for head for Africa” (In Teacher no teach me nonsense) 14. To be spiritual is not by praying and going to church. Spiritualism is the understanding of the universe so that it can be a better place to live in.” Fela’s explanation on one of his anti-Christian views. 15. Sex is a gift of nature. Why do men make laws to check it? A law telling you where to Bleep and another telling you when to Bleep.” Fela’s views on why he likes having ‘unlimited access’ when it comes to sexual intercourse. 16. “…When I was first put in jail, the name of my prison cell was ‘Kalakuta’, and Republic? I wanted to identify myself with someone who didn’t agree with the Federal Republic of Nigeria…I was in non-agreement.” Fela, on how he came up with the name; Kalakuta Republic, for his abode. 17. “I want peace. Its a transition.” Fela being philosophical on life and death. 21. “…just want to do my part and leave…Not for what they’re going to remember you for, but for what you believe in as a man.” Fela’s response on what he would like to be remembered for |

akoaki:Personally i think 1000 years of hardship wouldnt change anything, political education is non existent in Nigeria, sometimes you see people do things in this country and you just wonder if they think at all. For example our social engineering as Nigerians is so terrible that if a soldier beats up a civilian you would see people justifying the soldiers action like wearing a khaki makes a man God. Tell me how these group of people would be able to confront a soldier in an anti corruption protest. The only reason most people in this country would protest for anything is for religious or tribal reasons. Adolf Hitler once said the masses are too feminine and stu.pid ,he realised rational thinking doesnt appeal to the common man ,get in touch with their emotions, bam! They do what you want.500 naira can keep the average Nigerian under servitude for 500 years,as long as he can keep eating garri and watching Manchester united play every weekend he doesnt care ,he would leave the cabal that robbed and is still robbing him in Gods hands. |
Youre spot on @Afroconnect |
Period: Election Time Contestants: Chief Chinedu Alhaji Ajibola Chief Chinedu Profile: Religion: Christain Tribe: Obvious Reason for contesting: Rob the nation till he drops Alhaji Ajibola Profile: Religion: Muslim Tribe: Obvious Reason for contesting: Aloota forever Reaction from the masses: Christains: They want to Islamize this country, We must all vote Chief Chinedu,He is chosen by God to lead this country, bla bla bla Muslims: Muslims should vote for muslims,Allahu Akbar we are the majority in this country so insha Allah Alhaji would be president, bla bla bla End result of both scenarios: Treasury looted with reckless abandon Guys lets face it,the masses are stupid,so the ruiling class are having a field day converting public resources to personal use. In a country were we have people living in extreme poverty, people starving yet some group of humans are so bold to embezzle the funds that are meant for this impoverished citizens. The real tragedy in the whole scenario is not the thieving Chief’s and Alhaji’s,the tragedy is the masses who sing praises of the thieves while wearing rags, its like saying ‘thank you’ to armed robbers after you have been robbed. I still find it amusing that in 2014 a modern man would cast his vote based on nothing other than the religion or tribe of a contestant, the reason the elites are the elites is becaise they reason rationally and the masses reason emotionally. Rational thinking beats emotional thinking any day so the elites always win. The Christain politician turns a blind eye when he sees the Muslim politician stealing today even when he has the power to prosecute him because he knows tommorow he might lose his grip on power and the Muslim politician would return the favour. While all this are going on behind the scenes the agbada wearing ‘sharpguys’ keep the stupid masses busy with stupid bullsh*t like tribal and religious differences while they plunder in unity. Guys lets face it we dont even have Christain or Muslim politicians in this country. The Bible and Quran both speak against lying and stealing which is the watchword and song of our ‘Christain’ and ‘Muslim’ politicians. If you claim to be a vegetarian and you eat meat, you mock yourself,If you claim to be a Christain or Muslim and yet do exactly what your religion preaches against, apart from yourself and the stupid ones among the citizenry, who else are you fooling? The only sad fact is the votes of stupid people count too,so they can win an election for any Chief or Alhaji who offers them bags of rice, salt or 500 naira.Till next time. |
