Kaczynski: Wrong. People can cook without a kitchen. Pretty much most gen z in korea, japan do that by getting nothing much than a rice cooker, microwave , fridge and induction cooker. [quote author= Do what works for you |

OkanlawonB: A waste construction, look at the upper kitchen cabin of the renovation, so high up to the ceiling level, are these cabins really usable.
Nothing wrong with the old kitchen, only needs tidying up. Not a waste it’s intentional design. Vertical storage improves space efficiency, and renovation focuses on both function and aesthetics. |

Kaczynski: All are nothing but aethestic. We live in a technologyical era where humans can pretty much do without a kitchen. Technology hasn’t replaced kitchens, it has improved them. People still cook, store food, and live in their spaces that’s what this design supports.” |

Daptboy: My own be say how person hand go carry reach those cabinets for up? Good question 😊 Upper cabinets are for less frequently used items, and standard kitchen heights are designed to be easily reachable. A step stool also solves that when needed. |

Kaczynski: too much sunlight, i don't need a kitchen.. such a waste because i barely make use of it. beside my ancestors was living in a lesser house with too many family members . Different lifestyles, different needs. Not everyone ignores their kitchen like you do 😄 Function + beauty still matters. |

Inspirer1: Why the black counter top though , I would have preferred a white one, or off white counter top, White would look good too, but we went with black for durability and easier maintenance based on the client’s lifestyle. Design is not just about looks, it’s about what works. |

SixSeven: Okay, now that I am serious about it. For safety, here are the good things done
Good work 1. Lighting is obvious. We can see that the lighting is improved but I can never substitute natural lighting for artificial in case it fails. So I see that the natural lighting from the first one is much better then second. Although the blind you use controls glare.
2. Removing that cabinet storage from there (beside the door on the right) was good because it was too close to the door. The new design addresses this one. Moving storage into deep, ceiling-height wall cabinets significantly clears up counter workspace, reducing the risk of accidental knocks, spills, or items falling into the cooking areas (fire).
3. Cabinets replaced. You replaced the brown cabinets. Good. And fair enough but the former cabinets had handles. I am suspecting you used the ones that can close back with the magnetic field to maximize vertical wall space. This means whenever people open the cabinets, they are forced to close it especially for the higher cabinets (for head). I don't know if that's another reason you used the ones without handles (space).
To work on
1. Spills Protection. I thought you'd put something on the floor, at least at the cooking or washing side to prevent falls when liquid spills
2. Exhaust Fan Enclosure. The electrical extractor fan has been fully boxed in by combustible wooden cabinetry. Standard safety practices dictate keeping clearance or ventilation spacing around powered appliance motors to avoid heat buildup.
3. I cannot compare the left hand side because you didn't take the full view for us to see but there was a fridge there which has been removed.
There is bright ambient overhead lighting but a lack of counter-focused task lighting. Eg the part where I'm washing. Those Chinese sites usually advertise cheap lights than can be used to focus on tasks. Cooking in the shadow of deep upper cabinets presents a severe knife and burn hazard. We are in Nigeria Appreciate the detailed breakdown. Just to clarify a few things — this was a client-specific redesign, so decisions were based on the client’s space, usage, and preferences, not assumptions from photos alone. The blinds are adjustable, so both light control and privacy are achieved depending on use. Handle-less cabinets _soft-close systems are intentional for safety, space efficiency, and a cleaner finish. Not standard practice in modern kitchen design; proper flooring and user caution handle that. there is adequate ventilation allowance; it only appears fully boxed from the angle shown. Task lighting already integrated, though not all angles were captured in the post. Also, the fridge relocation was part of improving workflow and spacing not removal without reason. At the end of the day, the goal here was improved functionality, safety, and a cleaner finishes all of which were achieved.” |

SixSeven: Structurally, SAFETY first. If safety is not built into design, it will fail. Exactly. Functionality and safety are the foundation that’s why every upgrade here was planned to improve usability, not just appearance. A beautiful kitchen that doesn’t work well is a waste.” |

SixSeven: . Functionality.
A hungry man is an angry man. Beauty won't feed him. He doesn't have the patience for beauty. Facts 💯 functionality first. That’s why every design here is built to work before it even tries to impress. |

LeeSmart: That kitchen looks small ooo for persons like us wey dey claustrophobic. That’s exactly why design matters. Even a small kitchen can feel open, functional, and beautiful when done right. Would you prefer bigger space or smarter space?” |

What is that one mistake you made during your building or finishing stage?
For me, I’ve seen clients ignore proper window planning, and it later affects curtain/blind installation.
Let’s learn from each other. |

[quote author=Fharahyiola post=138990661][aquote author=kasiramji06 post=138947247]I’ve been tweaking my place a lot lately, and using home design through the AI Remodel app made it way less of a headache. I liked that I could drop in a photo and play around with layouts and colors without committing to anything. It was easy to swap ideas in and out until something finally clicked. Nice, that’s a good way to explore ideas 😊 But bringing those ideas to life with the right finishing and details is where the real work comes in. |
