rickpat:True, exposure really changes the game 👀 Even the same skill can make huge money for one person and flop for another depending on opportunities. I’m curious what would you say is the most underrated skill right now in Nigeria that people should focus on? |
Stephen0mozzy:Trueeee 👌🏽 I like how you said “half-baked people” 😅 That’s the reality consistency beats saturation any day. Quick question: if you had to advise someone with just 2 hours daily, what skill would give the fastest results in Nigeria right now? |
Good morning house. With how things are going in Nigeria now, I’m honestly curious. Do you think it’s wiser to focus on getting a university degree, or to learn a practical skill (tech, tailoring, digital marketing, etc.) early? We’ve seen graduates struggling for years. We’ve also seen people without degrees earning well because of skills. If you were advising a 17–20 year old today, what would you tell them to focus on? Degree? Skill? Or both? Let’s discuss realistically. |

ayoncox:True. Talent is everywhere. Opportunity isn’t. That gap is what creates the income difference not just effort. |

ayoncox:You made a solid point. Upbringing and environment definitely shape exposure and confidence. But even beyond mindset, structure matters. Two people can adopt a surplus mentality, yet if one has access to better networks, capital, or training, their results will likely differ. So yes, mindset is powerful but opportunity and access amplify it. |
Vinnie2000:Hard work is the foundation, but in Nigeria’s current reality, it’s not the complete equation. Exposure, branding, access, and sometimes timing or favour also play a role. That’s why two hardworking people can have very different outcomes. |
“Every election season, we hope for change. But no matter who wins, promises are broken, projects stall, and corruption continues. Is real change in Nigerian politics just a myth, or are we expecting too much? I want to hear your thoughts.” |
nams77:The ₦300k mentioned was for part of the finishing scope. The total project value was higher, but the post focused on a specific phase of the transformation. |
Love800:I agree that hard work is important, but I think we should separate effort from outcome. Two people can work equally hard and still have very different results because of access, environment and opportunity. Hard work matters, but structure and leverage matter too. |
helinues:Not every profession is structured for extreme wealth, and that doesn’t invalidate hard work. A teacher may not buy a Ferrari on salary alone, but that doesn’t mean hard work has no value. it means income is influenced by industry, scalability and economic structure. |
Disenfranchised:Using one political example to dismiss hard work entirely might be too broad a conclusion. Different paths to success exist, and most sustainable success still requires effort, planning and long-term consistency. |
Let’s make this interactive 😊 What’s one thing in your house you’re tired of seeing every day? Is it your curtains? Sofa? TV wall? Lighting? Drop it here and I’ll suggest what to upgrade first — free. |
Many people in Nigeria spend money on furniture but their space still doesn’t look luxurious. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Wrong lighting – One ceiling bulb is not enough. 2️⃣ Curtains that are too short or too small. 3️⃣ Overcrowding the space with too many items. Interior design is not about buying expensive things. It’s about proper arrangement and balance. If you’re in Lagos and need help upgrading your space professionally, I’m an interior designer and I deliver nationwide. Which of these mistakes have you seen before? |
Nickisindigo:I’m only on Instagram right now. My old account was suspended, but this is my new one Fharahluxeinterior |
Many people rush to install blinds immediately after moving into a new apartment without considering some important factors. As an interior designer in Lagos, here are a few things I always advise clients to check first: 1️⃣ Measure correctly – Accurate measurements prevent gaps and poor finishing. 2️⃣ Consider the room purpose – Bedroom blinds should offer more privacy, while living room blinds can focus more on aesthetics. 3️⃣ Lighting – Do you want full blackout, partial light, or soft filtered light? 4️⃣ Material quality – Cheap blinds may fade or get damaged quickly. 5️⃣ Wall colour & interior style – Your blinds should complement your space, not fight with it. Blinds are not just window covers — they are part of your interior statement. What type of blinds do you prefer — blackout, wooden, zebra, or vertical? Let discuss 🙂 If anyone needs guidance on measurements or selection, I’m happy to help.

My name farayiola , and I’m an Interior Designer based in Lagos. I specialize in helping people transform their homes into more comfortable, stylish and functional spaces. Over time, I’ve worked on different residential projects involving window blinds, rugs, lighting, wall décor and general home styling. Interior design to me is not just about decoration, but creating spaces that truly feel like home. I joined Nairaland to connect with property owners, real estate developers, fellow creatives and anyone interested in improving their space. I’m also open to learning and sharing ideas within the community. Looking forward to meaningful interactions here. Thank you 😊

Jakarta:True. Whether you’re buying or building, it’s not for the weak. The process tests patience, finances, and mental strength. |
BItt:That’s the painful part. You agree, then the billing starts — agreement fee, documentation fee, processing fee… extortion has been normalized.” |
isio1:Very accurate. The purchase is just the action — the reaction is documentation, land use charge, electricity, CDA levies, and endless “small small” payments. Homeownership in Lagos truly tests endurance. |
One year rent + agent fee + agreement + caution fee 😭 Sometimes I wonder: At what point does owning a house become cheaper than renting in Nigeria? Let’s hear your experiences. |
