The Presidency has re-affirmed that the Emergency rule currently imposed on Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states is meant to protect the civilian and the territory from the assault b on the Nigerian state by insurgents and terrorists. This re-affirmation comes on the heels of a special report by Aljazeera (see the report here) which indicates that large numbers of civilians have been caught in the cross-fire between military forces and insurgents but reacting to the widely televised report in a statement, President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati stated that the report on state of emergency and “civilian casualties” is contrived and misleading. The statement reads: We view with grave concern, the attempt by sections of the media, especially the foreign media to mislead the general public and the international community about the on-going State of Emergency and military operations in three states of the Federation: Adamawa, Yobe and Borno. For the avoidance of doubt, the declaration of a state of emergency and the consequential security operations are meant to protect the civilian population and the territory from the macabre and dastardly assault on the Nigerian state by insurgents and terrorists. It is not an operation against innocent citizens as Al-Jazeera and others are suggesting. In executing this sovereign objective, President Jonathan explicitly directed that the operations be conducted in line with applicable rules of engagement and peculiar care in managing a unique situation. In an earlier statement, he had also made it clear to the military high command and received assurances that those who violate their operational orders will be disciplined accordingly. In line with this regard for the rights of the civilian population, the President Jonathan had ordered the release of women and under-aged persons in protective custody, and made arrangements for their immediate rehabilitation. Fifty eight persons in this category have been released. The Armed Forces have also secured the release of six women and children in Boko Haram captivity. There is nothing to suggest so far any violation of operational orders by the troops operating in the North East. Their intervention has received popular support, among the civilian populace, and within two weeks of operation, the possibility of calm and normalcy resonates even as enclaves of terrorists are raided and their capacity to continue their reign of terror heavily compromised. This is a process and the Government owes it to the people of the North-East to see it through. The Jonathan administration believes that media reporting of the reality of living in a state of emergency is needed to keep the local and international community well informed and to hold accountable those prosecuting the military operation to help build trust and sustain the public support needed to build lasting peace. Rather curiously however, the last two weeks have witnessed mischievous attempts by a section of the media to generate negative propaganda around these operations in the North East. Most recently, a video report by Al-Jazeera yesterday titled “Civilians among dead in Nigeria offensive” (May 31) sought to put the government and the people of Nigeria in bad light. This is regrettable. While we welcome an open interrogation of government’s activities, we reject any attempt to exploit the security situation in the North East to malign, discredit or otherwise undermine the country’s efforts by other surreptitious means. There can be no doubt that the Al Jazeera report of May 31 is in very bad taste. Two quick points will highlight the concerns here: (1) the video is that of the unfortunate incident that occurred in Bama on May 7 and has no connection with the current operation. If anything, the victims shown in the video were those the Boko Haram attacked before they launched an offensive on the Bama prison (2) the claim that the man in uniform shown in the video is a Nigerian soldier cannot be sustained, because in a war-like theater as we have on our hands, anybody could have been clad in a military fatigue; and we have seen Boko Haram members appear in military fatigues in their propaganda videos. Besides, no soldier has left the frontlines since the beginning of the operations. Surely, this type of reporting on a serious national security issue is irresponsible and should be deplored by all. We reaffirm the Government of Nigeria’s commitment to and belief in the professionalism of the Nigerian Military, an institution that has served with distinction on many occasions across the region and outside. We deplore the effort to encourage terrorists through unverified and inaccurate reporting, and the desperation to blackmail the current peace and security process. http://www.channelstv.com/home/2013/06/01/emergency-rule-presidency-says-al-jazeeras-report-on-civilian-casualties-is-misleading/

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits… So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit…Thus you will recognize them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15-20). I begin this blog by apologising to all my Nigerian brothers and sisters for its title. At first sight it is rather offensive, but I hope that as you read on you will see why I elected to still use it as a title. As nations or tribes or social groupings we take on a certain characteristic that is not true about each person in the group but which we come to be identified with. Hence, Paul could write, “One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, ‘Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.’ This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith” (Titus 1:12-13). In the same way, we tend to (rightly or wrongly) identify Americans with arrogance, Kenyans with marathon running prowess, West Africans with fraudulent activities, Afrikaners with racism, etc. I have just returned from a consultative meeting in South Africa where the first day was spent surveying the spiritual state of the countries in the southern African sub-region. Central to all this was the state of evangelicalism in all these countries. Nation after nation reported on the arrival of “Nigerian religious junk” that was changing the landscape of what there once was of evangelicalism. One or two of the countries were blessed exceptions. Evidently, this junk originated from mega-churches in the USA and then found ready soil in West Africa, and especially in Nigeria. Having given it an African flavour, it is now being exported across Africa at a phenomenal rate. I feel very sad to write about this, but by “Nigerian religious junk” I mean the phenomenon of churches that are personal-to-holder. They exalt the personality of their founding father, who is still alive somewhere in Nigeria (or elsewhere) and is treated with the aura of a state president or paramount chief. It does not matter which country you go to, the bill boards of these churches do not have the faces of the local pastors of the congregations in those towns but of the founding father in Nigeria—or wherever he has since relocated. It is all about image and power. This “man of God” claims to hear the voice of God and proceeds to minister to you accordingly. If you do not obey him you are resisting the ministry of God into your life. So, the churches are often called “ministries” rather than churches. And to make them even more impressive, the term “international” is often added to their name. The Africanisation of this religious junk is primarily in the way it has been made to appeal to African spirituality. The pastor is the modern witchdoctor calling all and sundry to come to him for “deliverance”. Just as the witchdoctor appealed to us by inviting us to see him for spiritual protection or when we were struggling with bad luck, childlessness, joblessness, illness, failure to attract a suitor for marriage or to rise in a job or get a contract, etc., these pastors do precisely the same thing. So-called prophetic utterances are made which explain why all this is happening, holy water or oil is prayed over and dispensed, and some money is extracted from the persons seeking help. Thus their churches attract thousands of people who are there for purely selfish reasons. The motivating factor is not reconciliation with God through Christ but rather “deliverance” from perceived evil and to be blessed through the supernatural powers that “the man of God” possesses. Let’s face it: this is our African traditional religions coming into the church through the back door. The self-centeredness of all this is seen in the worship. Churches are being turned into entertainment centers instead of edification centers. People come to church to be entertained, healed and blessed. The fact that professionals, who engage their brains when working with their hands five to six days a week, stop thinking and just dance and laugh in worship is extremely sad, in the light of the demand of God that we are to love him with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength. It has been the failure of Christians to think through the implications of their Christian faith on the whole of life that has left Africa filled with Christian churches and lack of development at the same time. Surely, if these professionals were thinking they would have added up one-plus-one by now and seen why their pastors have become stinking rich. It is not their faith but the money of their congregants, whom they cheat with promises, that makes them buy expensive cars and clothes and put up mansions. If one thousand individuals are “sowing the seed” every week to be blessed by the man of God, of course the man of God will get very rich while they will get poorer. That is simple common sense. The result of this phenomenon of personal-to-holder churches has been the selective nature of church discipline. You do not discipline a Sangoma (i.e. witchdoctor)—or a chief! It is a known fact, even among the church members, that a number of these pastors have serious moral problems. However, “you do not touch the Lord’s anointed” and so they are not disciplined, even when they have impregnated girls in the church. One such anointed one in Zambia changed wives three times through divorce in less than six months and still remains the apostle of his church. To be fair, this man is a Zambian, but he has imbibed this personal-to-holder phenomenon from Nigeria. There must be accountability from everyone in the church—including the church pastor. Yet another characteristic of this phenomenon which is particularly African is the craze for titles. We Africans love titles! Once upon a time, evangelical pastors were content to simply be called pastors. Terms like “bishop” were left to those who had an Episcopalian system of church government, which was a formal structure that rose to national and global level. Alas, that has now changed! With the advent of this Nigerian religious junk, it is titles galore! You now have bishops, arch-bishops, prophets, apostles, chief apostles, etc. Some are not even content with that and so have combinations like, “chief apostle prophet doctor so-and-so.” This is certainly very different from the teaching and personal lifestyle of the Lord Jesus Christ whom they claim to serve. Many of these churches have since been discovered to be nothing more than fund-raising outfits, with sole proprietorship maintained by the pastor and his wife. The pattern seems to be: start a church and then milk the congregation. The pastors basically prey on the vulnerable and gullible. They are crooks and conmen. In a number of the southern African countries represented at the consultation, governments have sent these pastors packing upon finding undeniable proof that large stashes of money were being milked out of their citizens and being shipped to West Africa. This has made these governments very suspicious of anyone coming from any other African country as a missionary into their country. They now think that all African missionaries are just mercenaries. Yet, the saddest part of all this has been the loss of the gospel. Once upon a time, you could go to any church that purported to be evangelical and once you survived what was called worship, you would hear a sermon that finally pointed you to Christ and him crucified for pardon from sin. That is now largely an exception, and is as rare as my great grandfather’s teeth. What you hear now are calls for “deliverance”, and you experience this by coming forward to be prayed for. Inevitably, once you lose the gospel, you lose true spirituality and morality. Christianity becomes a thin veneer of respectability but inside there is total corruption and decay. The church becomes a wardrobe full of skeletons. Or, to borrow a more biblical expression, the church is filled with white-washed tombs. This explains why, although Nigeria is packed with such mega-churches (and is now exporting them across the continent), it is still the most corrupt nation on the continent. If church leaders are milking the people like this, what hope is there to correct things among the politicians and the civil servants? It is impossible! You cannot grow true spirituality where the cross of Christ and the Christ of the cross is absent. We must insist that the Spirit of God is the Holy Spirit. Where holiness is conspicuous by its absence, we should never attribute what is happening there to God’s Spirit because he is a spirit of holiness. Crowds and people falling backwards upon being touched prove nothing if holiness of life is missing. Jesus said, “You will recognise them by their fruits.” In this blog I have avoided naming names. This is because the consultation I have just come from did not name names. However, all I can say is, “If the hat fits you, put it on!” Anyone who has eyes to see and ears to hear knows what I am talking about. Let me end by once again apologising to any genuine and sincere Nigerian pastors who distance themselves from all this junk. Just as I know a number of sweet American folks who are very humble, Kenyans who cannot run halfway around a football ground, and Afrikaners who are colour blind, I am sure there must be many West African pastors—and Nigerians for that matter—who will have nothing to do with this spiritual corruption. I only wish they were more vocal in condemning this religious junk being exported from their country! http://www.ynaija.com/opinion-letter-from-zimbabwe-nigerians-what-you-have-is-religious-junk/ |
THE WOOLWICH KILLINGS- MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS-FFK Some things just don't add up when it comes to the Woolwich killings. There are certainly more questions than answers. Let us examine the facts. An off-duty British soldier by the name of Lee Rigby was walking down the street in the charming and peaceful London suburb of Woolwich. All of a sudden, and out of the blue, he was randomly selected and run over by a car which was being driven by two young black men. After they hit him to the ground with the car the two young men jumped out of it, armed with matchetes, knives, a rusty old pistol and a meat cleaver, and in a deep and uncontrollable frenzy amidst shouts of ''Allahu Akbar'', proceeded to take his precious life by carving him up, mutilating him, butchering him and beheading him in full public glare. This all happened barely 100 metres away from Rigby's Army Barracks home. The attack began at 2.30 pm whilst the soldier gave up the ghost at approximately 3.00pm on a four-point inter-section roundabout and crossroads. Immediately after finishing their gruesome act the killers then conducted their own impromptu press conference, brandishing knives and meat cleavers in blood-soaked hands, with random members of the public asking to be filmed and qouted whilst their clothes were soaked, drenched and dripping in human blood. After their ''presss conference'' ended they moved to the other side of the road and calmly waited for the police to arrive. They had all the time in the world to do so but they plainly refused to run and attempt to avoid arrest or the imminent arrival of the police. According to eye-witnesses (and I watched the footage on CNN) the police took no less than 30 minutes to get to the scene and confront the two killers. They did NOT get there in the 9 minutes that they are claiming. When the police eventually arrived instead of surrendering peacefully to them or attempting to run away, the two young men charged at them brandishing their knives and meat cleaver in a menacing way and attempting to shoot their old and rusty pistol. Unfortunately for them the pistol exploded in the hand of the individual that tried to use it. They were both promptly shot, wounded and disarmed. Yet before the police arrived another rather curious incident took place. A strange yet very courageous Scandanavian woman, who just happened to be sitting on a bus that was driving past, told the bus driver to stop when she saw the carnage that was being inflicted on the dying soldier, got off the bus and calmly walked over to the killers even as they were still killing him. She then proceeeded to have a detailed conversation with them asking them why they were doing what they were doing and assuring them that in the end they would lose the fight because it was ''just them against many''. Is this not a rather curious encounter? Who really was that Scandanavian lady and who does she really work for? Is she a genuine hero or is she what, in security and intelligence circles, is known as a controller? Is she part of the system because to do what she did took immense courage? So many questions still need to be asked and answered. For example why did the police take so long before responding? Why were the killers given all the time in the world to conduct a graphic, loud and unofficial press conference in the streets with members of the public after beheading and carving up the young soldier? Even more curiously the police and intelligence agencies have now admitted that these two young men were "known to them". If that were the case how come they were never put under close surveillance, monitored, questioned or arrested? Why did all this have to take place at exactly 3.00pm in the afternoon, at that location (a crossroads of four junctions) and on that date? Why did the assailants have to cut off their victims head, hang around there for thirty minutes whilst ranting and whilst soaked and covered in their victims blood? Why did the killers insist that only women could come near the dying body of their victim? Why was this whole thing allowed to happen and to drag on like it did for 30 uninterrupted minutes by the authorities? Why did the police refuse to move in even though numerous members of the public were having detailed conversations with the assailants? Was this whole thing some kind of state-sponsored illuminati-style human sacrifice? Was it designed and orchestrated by the authorities to create more terror in the land and to give them the opportunity to introduce more draconian laws, curb immigration and do away with even more civil liberties on the grounds that they wish to fight the very terror that they themselves created. Are we not being fooled again by the ''powers that be'' and the state just as we were over ''9-11'' and over the murder of Princess Diana, both of which were clearly inside jobs with strong illuminatti connections . If anyone doubts this assertion they ought to do themselves a favour and find the time to watch David Icke's revealing docuementry titled ''9/11-It Was An Inside Job''. It is on youtube. They can also find his numerous books and watch his numerous docuementries on the murder of Princess Diana. Their world view will change dramatically after that. Back to Woolwich. Are there not clear parallels between the Woolwich incident and the Boston bombings which took place just a few weeks ago. Are there not similarities in the profiles of the two sets of killers in both incidents. Both operations were conducted in full public glare and in the afternoon. Both operations were carried out by two Americans and two British citizens respectively each of them with a foreign heritage and family ties with nations that are rife with and that are being torn apart by islamist terror. In the case of the Boston bombers the two perpetrators had strong links and family ties with Dagestan and Checnya in the case of the Woolwich incident both perpetrators had equally strong links and family ties with Nigeria. Both sets of killers were muslim fundamentalists and both sets were ''known to the intelligence agencies'' of their respective countries. Both countries in which the murders took place, i.e. Great Britain and the United States of America, are the greatest allies and leaders in the war against terror and they are both committed to standing ''shoulder to shoulder'' with one another in that fight. Is it not strange that similar acts of terror will take place in the two just a few weeks apart and that those acts of terror were all carried out by people with similar profiles and virtually the same age. The coincidences are just too many and things just don't add up. The performance of the British police particularly has opened up the door for a lot of speculation. They made so many mistakes. Yet I can assure you that the British police and intelligence agencies are NOT that sloppy. They are amongst the best, if not the best, in the world and they just don't make mistakes. There is far more to this whole thing than meets the eye and there is also a sinister purpose and agenda to it. The full picture has not yet been shown to us and perhaps it never will but little by little those that are well-versed in these matters will work it out and the truth will be exposed. Yet the questions just keep coming. Is it possible that those two British boys of Nigerian descent were under some kind of ''Peter Powers''-type hypnosis and mind-control system which was triggered off by something or someone. In many of his books and videos David Icke has alluded to the usage and existence of such capabilities by the more advanced intelligence agencies in the world for the last ten years and he has cited many examples of such usage. Initially I was skeptical about his assertions until I listened and read carefully and I cross-checked the examples and the events that he cited. After that I was convinced that he was right and ever since then I have acknowledged the fact that we live in an exceptionally dangerous world where only the dullard would rule anything out. Back to the two young men that killed in Woolwich. Were they cultivated, ''programmed'' and used by agents of the illuminati in the British establishment to carry out this gruesome operation and this monstrous sacrifice? It is relevant and interesting to note that the two suspects were not just British citizens of Nigerian descent but that they were both muslim CONVERTS. That is to say they were both brought up as christians and then somewhere along the line they converted not just to islam but to it's most extreeme and radical brand. They became dangerous islamists that were prepared to kill for their faith. Who cultivated them and took them to this point and how did it get so bad? More importantly will this whole episode not give the western powers and the British people another reason to demonise islam and target mosques and muslim clerics? Is that part of the plan and the wider picture? Is the whole idea to create the atmosphere for vicious reprisal attacks against muslims and Nigerians in the U.K.? Is all that I have written here far-fetched? You may believe so but I don't. And neither have I gone mad. The devil is real and the illuminati is it's toool for world control and domination. It has been around for years and those that are part of it operate in the deepest secrecy. Yet even if you do not agree with me on anyything that I have said here, the questions that I have raised are legitimate and they are indeed food for thought. In this game there are no coincidences and everything happens for a reason and has its own sybolism and purpose. As far as I am concerned only David Icke can crack this Woolwich nut and unravel it's secrets and I look forward to the day that he does. Meanwhile I pray that thesoul of Officer Rigby rests in perfect peace and I urge every Nigerian that is resident in or that is visiting the UK, especially if they are muslims, to be exceptionally careful in their movements and in their dealings with the British people and authorities. There is FAR more to this whole thing than meets the eye and whether anyone likes to admit it or not, sadly, there will be some kind of backlash against our people at some point. As for the two British men of Nigerian descent (whose names I refuse to mention) that cut short the life of this brave young and heroic British soldier in the prime of his life for doing absolutely nothing wrong, may they both die a slow and terrible death and may they rot in hell. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10151598066787210&id=62188827209 |

Treat Boko Haram Like Niger/Delta Militants - Maj Gen Buhari. **send them Aircraft to meet you in Abuja for a peace dialogue. **the Islamist group should be given money and a training scheme should be introduced for their members. **stop killing boko Haram members. Former Head of State and the defeated Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to treat members of the Islamic terror group, Boko Haram the way the Militants from Niger Delta were treated during the late President yar'adua's regime. “When the Niger Delta militants started their activities in the South-South, they were invited by the late President Umaru Yar’adua. "An aircraft was sent to them and their leaders met with the late President in Aso Rock and discussed issues. They were given money and a training scheme was introduced for their members. But when the Boko Haram emerged in the north members of the sect were killed." - Hope For Nigeria.

LONDON (Reuters) - A British soldier was hacked to death by two men shouting Islamic slogans in a south London street on Wednesday, in what the government said appeared to be a terrorist attack. Video footage filmed by an onlooker just minutes after the killing showed an angry man with hands covered in blood, holding a bloodied meat cleaver and a knife. "You people will never be safe. Remove your government. They don't care about you," the man, a black man in his 20s or 30s wearing trainers and jeans and speaking with a local accent, said in the footage obtained by Britain's ITV news channel. "I apologize that women had to witness that, but in our lands our women have to see the same thing," the man said. Police said they later shot two suspects who were carrying weapons and took them into custody. Prime Minister David Cameron cut short a visit to France to return to London and chair an emergency national security meeting. He said there were strong indications that the killing was a terrorist incident. The attackers pounced on the victim in broad daylight in a street in the southeast district of Woolwich near an army barracks. After making his remarks in the video, the man with the bloody knives walked back to the scene and spoke to the other attacker casually. Media quoted witnesses as saying the attackers had shouted "God is greatest" in Arabic while stabbing the victim, whom they tried to behead. Witnesses said the victim was wearing a T-shirt saying "Help for Heroes", the name of a charity formed to help wounded British veterans. Britain has had troops deployed in Afghanistan since 2001 and had troops in Iraq from 2003-2009. "The police are urgently seeking the full facts about this case but there are strong indications that it is a terrorist incident," Cameron said before cutting short talks with French President Francois Hollande to return home. "We have had these sorts of attacks before in our country and we never buckle in the face of them," he said. The authorities did not immediately confirm the identity of the victim, but a source told Reuters it may have been a member of the military. Police sealed off streets around the Woolwich area in southeast London and helicopters hovered overhead after the attack. Pools of blood stained the street. "I am afraid it is overwhelmingly likely now to be a terrorist attack, the kind the city has seen before," London mayor Boris Johnson said in televised remarks. http://news.yahoo.com/britain-calls-emergency-meeting-man-killed-london-170329211.html

It sure makes interesting reading... particularly coming from a Pakistani official. By: Dr Farrukh Saleem (a muslim) The writer is the Pakistani Executive Director of the Center for Research and Security Studies, a think tank established in 2007, and an Islamabad-based freelance columnist. Why are Jews so powerful? There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the Americas , five million in Asia, two million in Europe and 100,000 in Africa. For every single Jew in the world there are 100 Muslims. Yet, Jews are more than a hundred times more powerful than all the Muslims put together. Ever wondered why? Jesus of Nazareth was Jewish. Albert Einstein, the most influential scientist of all time and TIME magazine's 'Person of the Century', was a Jew. Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis was a Jew. So were Karl Marx, Paul Samuelson and Milton Friedman. Here are a few other Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole humanity: Benjamin Rubin gave humanity the vaccinating needle. Jonas Salk developed the first polio vaccine. Albert Sabin developed the improved live polio vaccine. Gertrude Elion gave us a leukemia fighting drug. Baruch Blumberg developed the vaccination for Hepatitis B. Paul Ehrlich discovered a treatment for syphilis. Elie Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize in infectious diseases. Bernard Katz won a Nobel Prize in neuromuscular transmission. Andrew Schally won a Nobel in endocrinology. Aaron Beck founded Cognitive Therapy. Gregory Pincus developed the first oral contraceptive pill. George Wald won a Nobel for our understanding of the human eye. Stanley Cohen won a Nobel in embryology. Willem Kolff came up with the kidney dialysis machine. Over the past 105 years, 14 million Jews have won 15-dozen Nobel Prizes while only three Nobel Prizes have been won by 1.4 billion Muslims (other than Peace Prizes). Why are Jews so powerful? Stanley Mezor invented the first micro-processing chip. Leo Szilard developed the first nuclear chain reactor; Peter Schultz, optical fibre cable; Charles Adler, traffic lights; Benno Strauss, Stainless steel; Isador Kisee, sound movies; Emile Berliner, telephone microphone; Charles Ginsburg, videotape recorder. Famous financiers in the business world who belong to Jewish faith include Ralph Lauren (Polo), Levis Strauss (Levi's Jeans), Howard Schultz (Starbuck's) , Sergey Brin (Google), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Larry Ellison (Oracle), Donna Karan (DKNY), Irv Robbins (Baskins & Robbins) and Bill Rosenberg (Dunkin Donuts). Richard Levin, President of Yale University, is a Jew. So are Henry Kissinger (American secretary of state), Alan Greenspan (Fed chairman under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush), Joseph Lieberman (US Senator), Madeleine Albright (American secretary of state), Casper Weinberger (American secretary of defense), Maxim Litvinov ( USSR foreign Minister), David Marshal ( Singapore 's first chief minister), Issac Isaacs (governor-general of Australia ), Benjamin Disraeli (British statesman and author), Yevgeny Primakov (Russian PM), Barry Goldwater (US Senator), Jorge Sampaio (president of Portugal ), John Deutsch (CIA director), Herb Gray (Canadian deputy PM), Pierre Mendes (French PM), Michael Howard (British home secretary), Bruno Kreisky (chancellor of Austria ) and Robert Rubin (American secretary of treasury). In the media, famous Jews include Wolf Blitzer (CNN), Barbara Walters (ABC News), Eugene Meyer (Washington Post), Henry Grunwald (editor-in-chief Time), Katherine Graham (publisher of The Washington Post), Joseph Lelyveld (Executive editor, The New York Times), and Max Frankel (New York Times). The most beneficent philanthropist in the history of the world is George Soros, a Jew, who has so far donated a colossal $4 billion most of which has gone as aid to scientists and universities around the world. Second to George Soros is Walter Annenberg, another Jew, who has built a hundred libraries by donating an estimated $2 billion. At the Olympics, Mark Spitz set a record of sorts by winning seven gold medals; Lenny Krayzelburg is a three-time Olympic gold medalist. Spitz, Krayzelburg and Boris Becker (Tennis) are all Jewish. Did you know that Harrison Ford, George Burns, Tony Curtis, Charles Bronson, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Paul Newman, Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Ben Kingsley, Kirk Douglas, Goldie Hawn, Cary Grant, William Shatner, Jerry Lewis and Peter Falk are all Jewish? As a matter of fact, Hollywood itself was founded by a Jew. Among directors and producers, Steven Spielberg, Mel Brooks, Oliver Stone, Aaron Spelling ( Beverly Hills 90210), Neil Simon (The Odd Couple), Andrew Vaina (Rambo 1/2/3), Michael Man (Starsky andHutch), Milos Forman (One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest), Douglas Fairbanks (The Thief of Baghdad ) and Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters) are all Jewish. So, why are Jews so powerful? Answer : EDUCATION Why are Muslims so powerless? There are an estimated 1,476,233,470 Muslims on the face of the planet: one billion in Asia, 400 million in Africa, 44 million in Europe and six million in the Americas . Every fifth human being is a Muslim; for every single Hindu there are two Muslims, for every Buddhist there are two Muslims and for every Jew there are one hundred Muslims. Ever wondered why Muslims are so powerless? Here is why: There are 57 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), and all of them put together have around 500 universities; one university for every three million Muslims. The United States has 5,758 universities and India has 8,407. In 2004, Shanghai Jiao Tong University compiled an 'Academic Ranking of World Universities' , and intriguingly, not one university from Muslim-majority states was in the top-5 As per data collected by the UNDP, literacy in the Christian world stands at nearly 90 per cent and 15 Christian-majority states have a literacy rate of 100 per cent. A Muslim-majority state, as a sharp contrast, has an average literacy rate of around 40 per cent and there is no Muslim-majority state with a literacy rate of 100 per cent. Some 98 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world had completed primary school, while less than 50 per cent of the 'literates' in the Muslim world did the same. Around 40 per cent of the 'literates' in the Christian world attended university while no more than two per cent of the 'literates' in the Muslim world did the same. Muslim-majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims. The US has 4,000 scientists per million and Japan has 5,000 per million. In the entire Arab world, the total number of full-time researchers is 35,000 and there are only 50 technicians per one million Arabs. (in the Christian world there are up to 1,000 technicians per one million). Furthermore, the Muslim world spends 0.2 per cent of its GDP on research and development, while the Christian world spends around five per cent of its GDP. Conclusion: The Muslim world lacks the capacity to produce knowledge! Daily newspapers per 1,000 people and number of book titles per million are two indicators of whether knowledge is being diffused in a society. In Pakistan, there are 23 daily newspapers per 1,000 Pakistanis while the same ratio in Singapore is 360. In the UK , the number of book titles per million stands at 2,000 while the same in Egypt is 20. Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to diffuse knowledge. Exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports are an important indicator of knowledge application. Pakistan 's export of high technology products as a percentage of total exports stands at one per cent. The same for Saudi Arabia is 0.3 per cent; Kuwait, Morocco, and Algeria are all at 0.3 per cent, while Singapore is at 58 per cent. Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to apply knowledge. Why are Muslims powerless? .....Because we aren't producing knowledge, .....Because we aren't diffusing knowledge., .....Because we aren't applying knowledge. And, the future belongs to knowledge-based societies. Interestingly, the combined annual GDP of 57 OIC-countries is under $2 trillion. America, just by herself, produces goods and services worth $12 trillion; China $8 trillion, Japan $3.8 trillion and Germany $2.4 trillion (purchasing power parity basis). Oil rich Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar collectively produce goods and services (mostly oil) worth $500 billion; Spain alone produces goods and services worth over $1 trillion, Catholic Poland $489 billion and Buddhist Thailand $545 billion. ..... (Muslim GDP as a percentage of world GDP is fast declining). So, why are Muslims so powerless? Answer: Lack of education. All we do is shout to Allah the whole day !!! and blame everyone else for our multiple failures!!!!! Muslims are not happy They're not happy in Gaza They're not happy in Egypt They're not happy in Libya They're not happy in Morocco They're not happy in Iran They're not happy in Iraq They're not happy in Yemen They're not happy in Afghanistan They're not happy in Pakistan They're not happy in Syria They're not happy in Lebanon So, where are they happy? They're happy in Australia They're happy in England They're happy in France They're happy in Italy They're happy in Germany They're happy in Sweden They're happy in the USA & Canada They're happy in Norway They're happy in almost every country that is not Islamic! And who do they blame? Not Islam... Not their leadership... Not themselves... THEY BLAME THE COUNTRIES THEY ARE HAPPY IN And they want to change the countries they're happy in, to be like the countries they came from, where they were unhappy. Try to find logic in that ! Jeff Foxworthy on Muslims: 1. If You refine heroin for a living, but you have a moral objection to liquor. You are a Muslim 2. If You own a $3,000 machine gun and $5,000 rocket launcher, but you can'tafford shoes. You are a Muslim 3. If You have more wives than teeth. You are a Muslim 4. If You wipe your butt with your bare hand, but consider bacon unclean. You are a Muslim 5. If You think vests come in two styles: bullet-proof and suicide. You are a Muslim 6. If You can't think of anyone you haven't declared Jihad against. You are a Muslim 7. If You consider television dangerous, but routinely carry explosives in your clothing. You are a Muslim 8. If You were amazed to discover that cell phones have uses other than setting off roadside bombs. You are a Muslim 9. If You have nothing against women and think every man should own at least four. You are a Muslim 10. If You find this offensive or racist please don't be angry, its just the fact |

President Goodluck Jonathan and former Prime Minister of Britain, Tony Blair were present at the opening ceremony of the Rock Cathedral of House on the Rock in Lekki Lagos. The church built in eight years, is now valued at about $85million (N13.4 billion), according to the founding pastor of the church, Paul Adefarasin. At the unveiling ceremony of the 9,000 seater church, Jonathan urged Nigerians to demonstrate unfailing love for the country notwithstanding the current challenges confronting the nation. He said for Nigeria to be a better place, there should be collective efforts of every individual and the communities. “I appreciate all for giving me the opportunity. I thank all Nigerians for what they are doing for the country. Because of the intercessory prayers, the country is stabilised,” he said. The president said transformation could not be effective without passing through challenges. He then assured Nigerians that whatever challenges the country is passing through now, will end in joy. “When we work hard, we will take our country where we want it to be,’’ he said and urged Nigerian youths not to relent in working with the government for the betterment of the country. “Nigerian youths, we reassure you that we will continue to work together, do our best for the country as a nation. When we work together, we will overcome the challenges in the country. Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair, said for total transformation to take place, Nigerians should work hard and see themselves as one and do away with religious differences. Blair said that Nigeria is a country endowed with great potential, hence, the need for total transformation. “Nigeria should be hopeful because of its people. Nigeria will be built by the strength and dedication of Nigerians. There is no progress in the midst of violence,” Blair said. He urged the Federal Government to put opportunities in the hands of many not few, and appealed to Nigerians and religious bodies to tolerate one another and give room for religious reconciliation. Rev. Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of the Church, said there was hope for Nigeria in spite of the challenges ravaging the country. The ceremony continues on Sunday with the dedication of The Rock Cathedral, where renowned gospel artist Don Moen will minister.

The Kaduna State command of Nigeria Immigration Service has arrested 77 suspected criminals among them, 20 Nigerien nationals and 57 Nigerians. Parading the suspects at the command headquarters, the Comptroller of the command; Hamman Yerima said a raid was carried out by immigration officers at an uncompleted building in Barnawa area of the state capital, which the suspects use as their base. Upon interrogation, it was discovered that 20 out of the suspects were illegal immigrants from Niger Republic while the remaining 57 are commercial motor cycle (okada) operators from other states across the country where the use of okada has been banned. Although no dangerous weapon was discovered on the arrested men, the Comptroller said the suspects resisted arrest and engaged the immigration officers in a fight. One of the immigration officers’ men sustained injuries in the revolt. Out of the 20 illegal Nigerien immigrants, he said that only three have a means of identification while the remaining 17 could not produce any ECOWAS traveling permit into Nigeria. The Comptroller said that plans have been concluded to deport all the 17 illegal immigrants back to their country and added that the remaining 57 would be taken back to their respective states as soon as investigations are concluded.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and the former World Bank official Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was recently interviewed by Christiane Amanpour CNN’s chief international correspondent and anchor of Amanpour, a nightly foreign affairs program on CNN International. On the interview which aired on Tuesday 16th April, 2013, Okonjo-Iweala speaks with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour about several issues touching on corruption, oil theft and Nigeria’s power grid problems. The Minister who has been lauded as just the kind of reformer that Nigeria needs, was a runner-up to lead the World Bank and “Forbes” ranked her as one of the world’s most powerful women. Speaking on the issue of corruption, Iweala explained that, “Nigeria does have a problem with corruption, and so do many other countries, including developed countries. I don’t like the fact that when people mention the name Nigeria, the next thing they say is corruption”. According to her, “this is a country of 170 million people; 99.9 percent of them are honest, hard-working citizens who just want to get on with their lives and they want a government that delivers for them’. Okonjo-Iweala believes technology could be the answer to the problem, “What we’ve said is that in order to help block any leakages and help to, you know, stop any attempts at corruption or taking monies, we must build electronic platforms. We must distance people from the money”, she said. ‘These things were recommended by the World Bank and IMF and we are doing them”, she said. She also strongly believes that Nigeria lack institutions and processes. About what the president is doing on this issue, the Minster explains, “what President Goodluck Jonathan has done is to call the judiciary, the legislature and the executive arm for the first time to meet together on this issue, because it’s not just about government, but about everyone coming together. According to her, even if someone is caught, they go to the courts and they are let off lightly. ‘The president can’t do anything about that. The judicial system also has to be strengthened’, Legislators also have to crack down. They themselves have to work at also being transparent and helping the executive”, she said. Oil leakage causes a significant drain on the economy and the Minister puts it at 150,000 barrels stolen a day, which she admits is huge and that Nigeria cannot afford any leakage. Comparing the situation to Mexico, which sees tens of thousands of barrels stolen each day, the Minister further explained the need for the international community to weigh in to resolve the issue, and the need for Nigerians to commit to fighting it as well. According to her, ‘Mexico and Nigeria are suffering from this problem, and in Nigeria’s case, “we have international people who also buy that stolen oil. We need them to treat this stolen oil like stolen diamonds, the blood diamonds. Make it blood oil. Help us so that those people don’t have a market to sell this stuff”, she said. Speaking On the issue of electricity, Okonjo-Iweala explained saying, “Nigeria is not the only country. Almost every developing country has a problem with power, as you know. India has it, South Africa has it but South Africa is far better off because they’ve invested much more’. ‘Many developing countries, even China is struggling with keeping up with infrastructure”, she said. She admits that the government is not the best place to run the power sector, and that for the economy to do better, privatization is the best option. “Nigeria is pursuing one of the most sweeping privatization programs in any country in the world. We are selling off everything. The generation capacity, the distribution capacity in the country, government is only retaining one thing – transmission, she says.

Ayobami Oyalowo: Before the war machines are rolled out By Ayobami Oyalowo on April 14, 2013 0 “If we(Niger Delta Militants) begin throwing bombs, nobody will stay in Abuja” – Asari Dokubo Our country Nigeria has been undergoing lots of tumults in the recent past. Shortly after the advent of civilian rule in May 1999, we have had all sorts of ethnic nationalities and militia: all threatening the peace in one form or another. We have had the OPC in the South West, most especially within the Mushin/Idi Araba axis in Lagos; we have had the Arewa Youths in the North, the Kano and Bauchi mass killings, the issue of non-indigene in Jos, the Sharia riots in Kaduna, the mass killings, kidnapping and pipeline vandalisation in the Niger Delta, MASSOB (Biafra) agitations in the South East, and virtually every part of Nigeria has either experienced, or still experiencing, one form of armed agitations or another. Enter the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’await Wal-Jihad, known as Boko Haram. At their entry into our psyche, all those ethnic militia agitations pale into insignificance. They have engaged in incessant killing and wanton destructions of lives and properties, sparing no one and making no coherent or intelligible demands. This treatise is not about the merits or demerits of Boko Haram or others, rather we wish to seek what the impact these drumbeats of war will have on Nigerians. Why are we at this point in our development beating the drums of war? It is not too far fetched. Biting poverty in the midst of plenty, while elected and appointed Government officials and top civil servant live in walled opulence. The current population statistics put the population of youths in Nigeria, under 30 years, at about 70%. So if 70% are under 30 and unemployment is at another 50-60% while the employed ones can barely make ends meet, it is clear that we have a huge army of potential robbers, suicide bombers, killers and sundry criminals. Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gunpowder, while playing with a potent box of match by the corner. So many public and non public figures have come out to give their two cents, but in this entire cacophony, one thing is clear: most of those commentators appear not to understand what they are saying. Most people are apparently playing to the gallery, beating war drums or simply self serving. I pity most average people who don’t understand that war serves the upper class and destroys the people. War kills the poor and profits the wealthy and their corporations. War is devastating and destructive, as we are only sure of seeing the beginning of a war: no one can predict its outcome or ending. War is often the effort of the rich and upper class, striving to maintain control and relevance while using the poor as pawn in their devastating and expensive bloody game of chess. The American public can attest to the huge financial and material losses the common man has suffered in America’s attempt at world dominance by engaging in senseless wars all over the globe. Yet not one billionaire owner of War Corporation has lost his life or that of his family member. Only the poor die and lose their income. It was reported that the Pentagon, in 2008, spent more money every five seconds than the average American earned in a year. I was fortunate to have interacted with some old men who were either part of the Biafran war or were alive during that period. I was also privileged to have met the black scorpion, Major General Benjamin Adekunle, during one of my visits home. I also saw a clip of the suffering of the Igbos during the period of the Biafran war. I can tell you unequivocally that war is not pleasant. War is a destroyer and people are the sufferers. People are very complicated – they will make problems even if there aren’t any. But most people making problems either do not have an idea of the consequences or have an alternative escape planned. People are so full of hate for one another that they make stupid reasons to have war even if they are very well aware of what war is. It will cause damage to both sides and ruin the lives of people. Today there are many civil wars around the world, but for very stupid reasons, you could actually say for nothing. But once it starts, it is too late to stop. Many people die, or become invalids, or have to find new places to live; the cities become destroyed and there are many other complications. Families get separated and in some cases most don’t ever unite again. I came in contact with lots of Liberian ladies, many were little girls at the outbreak of the Liberian civil war, today they are permanently separated from their families, their dreams and education truncated, while among them are today living as prostitutes in Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana and other countries along the west coast. I also read the story of Ranka Tosanovic, a seventeen year old Bosnian girl. She and her family were victims of the Bosnian- Serb war. A war that lasted about four years and was so devastating and divisive to the point that the three warring factions of Bosnian, Serbians and Muslims are not at peace even as we speak today. The war has also left the country divided and Balkanized permanently. She detailed the separations of her family; some members were never to be seen again till today. I saw the agony she and her mother and grandmother went through as the men weren’t allowed to escape. War is the basest form of settling dispute and rancour. Humans, due to our nature and physiological make up, will forever have conflicting interests, but as intelligent and endowed beings, we have inbuilt capacity to reason and dialogue through any situations. But due to selfishness, personal ambition and insatiable greed of the rich, we often neglected that inbuilt capacity and resort to our basest of instincts -warring and fighting. Animals are permitted, as territorial beasts, to fight, conquer and maintain their territories, but humans as higher animals often resort to that base instinct of lower animals to settle the minutest of disputes, due to greed of the upper class to continually dominate and exploit the poor to their own advantage. When children lose their lives in war, it is usually the poor ghetto or village or those silent ones that no one pays attention to. War is a systematic rape and looting, it is never a means to protect anybody. Women are systematically and continuously raped, children die of hunger and preventable diseases, lives become short and nasty and brutish and most especially dreams and aspirations are permanently or completely truncated. Somalia gave the world a great champion but Britain took in a war victim, who arrived their shore at the age of 8, couldn’t speak a word of English, but toady, Mo Farah is a double Olympic champion. A loss to Somalia and Africa, but a blessing to a more organized and life respecting society, Great Britain. Note, if we allow the war drummers to push us into an ignominious bloodbath, only the poor, the weak, the women and children will die and suffer the consequence of the rich man’s war. Those calling for war today will be no where to be found. Their children are in push schools abroad and have dual citizenship as none of the children of the elites are currently in Nigeria. The Igbos as we speak are yet to recover from the devastating effect of the Nigerian Civil war 42 years after it ended. But Ojukwu who started the war not only got his confiscated properties returned and his full benefits paid, his wife is today rewarded with the post of an Ambassador, while most other Biafran war veterans have either died of hunger and poverty or are living in abject poverty, forgotten and neglected by the larger society. Asari Dokubo has been going around calling for war and killing Northerners, yet no one in Government is raising an eyebrow. He has been a loud and vociferous proponent of war, a man who has never been known for any productive human venture or enterprise, his only skill and claim to fame lies in subversive activities towards his country. He has excelled in kidnapping, killing, maiming, pipeline vandalization and every other imaginable criminal activity. War is never a solution to any problem; the Nigerian government will do well to address lingering issues of perceived marginalization, devastating poverty and all other known cases of social injustices. If we allow another civil war, any will die but those proponents of war will become wealthier and richer at the expense of innocent blood. Schools should be encouraged to teach history of past wars and its devastating effects. There can be no peace in the absence of justice, equity and fairness. But under no circumstance can we afford another civil war. Nobody ever wins in a war, everybody is a loser. I am @Ayourb on Twitter |

Bill Cosby "I'm 83 and Tired" I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for when I was doing my National Service, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 40 years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired. I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; Muslims burning schools for girls; Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to. I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques and Madrasa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia , New Zealand , UK, America and Canada , while no one from these countries are allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance.. I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off? I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor. I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems. I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and early 20's be-deck themselves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making themselves unemployable and claiming money from the Government. Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 83.. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter and their children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not on the way in. There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference. “I’m 83 and I'm tired. If you don't agree you are part of the problem!

Osaze Odemwingie has taken some time to vent on the social media network, Twitter, in tweets which appeared to be directed at Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi. He also used the opportunity to explain his disagreement with former Super Eagles player and coach, Samson Siasia. The striker, who was dropped from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) gold winning Super Eagles team, explained their difference saying it was due to his club commitment. He, however, appeared to taunt the current Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, when he insinuated that even a successful coach’s job is temporary. “…a coach the country is praising now will one day be sacked and to his achievements they ll say: only one cup ? I beg,” he tweeted. See his tweets below: https://twitter.com/OdemwingieP/status/303943418470604800
