Fiducia: Birth story
The pregnancy journey was a very smooth one, no vomiting, spitting, cravings and all that. Few days to her EDD, we went to the market and bought baby things. On her EDD, we went for an exam, came back and washed baby's clothes, then packed hospital bag few days after.
When she went for antenatal that week, the doctor after seeing her results said her pcv was low. We turned vegetarians, adding ugu and garden egg leaves to almost everything. Most times she would squeeze out the water and drink.
Labour refused to start. We dont stay together but she lives very close to me. Every evening, we would take long walks, buy pineapples, come back and dance. We were both anxious. Even when I go back to my place, am usually not comfortable, I keep calling and dreaming about baby . On the day the induction was scheduled, we cleaned her house, washed all washables and cooked then we left for the hospital. We got to the hospital and the doctors said we should wait till around 10pm. 10pm came and just when she was taken inside to get the process started, an emergency came. They left her there and all hurried to the theatre.
They finished around 11:57 pm and called her in again. She was checked and her cervix was still closed so misoprostol was inserted into her bruhaha . she came out and we started gisting, we gisted till around 3a.m. She began to complain that she was yet to feel any contraction o. I told her to relax o and save her strength for the contractions.
Then she started feeling wet between her thighs, we checked and it was mucus mixed with blood. She was soo happy, she started singing till she slept off.
In the morning, approximately after 6hours, cervix was still closed. Another dose of misoprostol was inserted. After about 45 minutes, she told me something was tugging at her lower abdomen. I knew the contractions were about to start. I told her the main thing is about to start o, and she shouted "am ready o, haa lets get this baby out o" The nurses heard her and laughed ehhn, they told her that she would soon remove her panty and use it as face cap I went out to get her breakfast, make she chop first, before person go chop me with contraction eyes. Something delayed me and i spent close to 45minutes before returning. When I returned I met her pacing about, holding her waist and singing "Jesus Jesus Jesus o" I wanted to laugh o shebi she was the one begging for contractions? I came close and held her, when she saw me, she changed to "fiducia fiducia fiducia oo" She held my hand till the contractions left her. Then she settled down and started eating, she was still eating when the contractions came again, she jumped up and started running to the delivery room, the nurses were shouting and calling after her, she no send, I ran after her and met her kneeling on the floor, wriggling in pain. The nurses came in and examined her. She was 4cm gone. Oyanu aunt come down naa, e never reach She refused oo The nurses Were shouting, me I was begging her. At a point she agreed and we went back into the ward. She continued the breakfast and just when she finished, contractions hit again. She held me tight and was shaking abi shivering and then waaaaaaaaaa yes o, na vomit, ewwww, I no mind self, I just let her hold me till the contractions subsided. Then I cleaned the mess up. She was just saying "am sorry fiducia, am sorry" with tear-filled eyes. Chai I told her not to worry and just be strong. After sometime,We decided to walk round the hospital, as she stood up, her water broke and contractions came again, she held my hand tightly and squeezed hard, chei my hands turned red oo, they were the things she used as pacifiers. We continued that way till she started making frequent trips to the toilet, either to urinate or to defecate but ends up doing neither of the two. She would complain that she is feeling the urge to poo/pee but nothing is coming out, the nurses said she should relax that its not baby's head yet. Contractions started coming few minutes apart. When she could not take it , she started crying, threw her prayer beads away and started asking me "what have I done wrong? I don't want again, tell them to come and stop this thing, am dying here" Ewww, my heart broke! I started tearing up too, held her closely and tried to wipe her tears, she pushed me away and continued crying. I couldn't take it, I went to the nurses and begged them to at least try and use catheter on her.
Brb mamas, low battery The nurses agreed and a nurse came to attend to us At that point, my cousin was not herself anymore, she was just shaking and shaking . The nurse said "Ehh abeg do fast and climb this bed, let me relieve you of urine and go back to my duty post" Ehh gini? Duty gini? Is this one not your duty post? Abi this one na job post ni? I got mad, I have been the one helping my cousin since we entered the labour ward. Even to help me and carry her or support her when its obvious that am finding it difficult, she no help, she has just been busy chewing gum and pressing her phone, now she is talking? Nansense and ingredients! I gave her a piece of my mind. Told her am going to report her to the head of nursing services. My cousin was just crying and saying "Fiducia leave her ooo, it is pushing me ooo, God it is pushing me" Then the nurse still cursing and raining insults, helped me and we laid her on the bed. I hurried out to fetch another nurse. I just knelt down and begged the nicest of the nurses to please come and attend to my cousin. She agreed and followed me back to the delivery room. She told the winch winch nurse to step aside. That one gladly did. My cousin was checked and surprisingly, she was fully dilated. The nice nurse told the winch winch nurse to quickly gather the instruments for delivery while she counsels my cousin on how to push. The winch winch nurse was just chewing gum and being so sluggish. Ewww which kind devil be this? The nice nurse was already telling my cousin to assume birthing position and push at the next contraction. At the next contraction, she pushhhhhhhhed. Baby's head was coming but not out. "Fiducia come and hold me ooo, am tired, am tired ooo, am tired" She was holding her ankles, so I held her shoulders. When the contractions came again, she gave it her all and pussshed, the nurse gave her a cut and then baby came out crying his lungs out. Oxytocin was administered to control post partum hemorrhage. "Thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus" She was smiling and crying at same time Pheeew, I felt sooo relieved! Placenta was delievered. she was stitched and cleaned up. Did I report the winch winch nurse? I forgot Thank you mamas for answering my questions and helping us through this. May God bless you all abundantly. Easy peasy delivery with no complications to the belleful mamas. Multiple BFP fall on all TTC mamas. Amen |

zaynie: Ehya, well done. Hot water is okay. Also get a wrapper for yourself in case you need to sleep over, hospital mosquitoes are the most wicked species . Charger too cos you don't know how long it'll take her to give birth. Hot water yes, and some extra money for feeding.
May you also find support in your time of need. Thank you ma, God bless you |

Liftedhands: Yes go with hot water and her toiletries, change of clothes for her and some snacks! Let her take a long walk also to make things smoother.
Note!! Induction isn't always a success! So both of you should be ready just in case it fails for an emergency cs! The person to sign should be on ground, unless it's you no problem.
Since you are her support system you need to be strong and don't fret! Massage her back and waist and be ready to take some insults or bites from her lolz.
Wishing you both all the best. Insults? No problem Bites? I pray I don't run away sha Can she request for painkillers? Thanks a lot ma |

Fiducia: Mamas ooo Good morning
Long post alert!
I need suggestions please I have a pregnant cousin, we are both students and we just started this semester's exams. Her husband stays in a different state so am the only one she has here.
Her EDD was yesterday, both LMP and first scan, thank God say she no born yesterday o because we write exam that yesterday . As we were getting set yesterday morning for the exam, na so her belle just dey riot, dey change shape anyhow (braxton Hicks), we were both scared oo, we just dey beg God say make that yesterday's exam no cast and God answered Besides, we were soo unprepared, it was just yesterday that we washed the baby's clothes and packed her bag.
Our next exam is on Monday, then wednesday, and after that, we would be given a short easter break (4 days). The moment we return from easter break, we will write the remaining courses at a stretch, no breathing space.
Is there something we can do to bring on labour? (No kpekus in town, no stairs around) At least from now till easter, because after that, e no go funny at all
Again, she registered in a general hospital far from our campus(like 20-25 minutes with shuttle or bike). She doesn't know what a contraction feels like, she never experienced period cramps, that would have been a pointer. Now when she is complaining of waist pain, I no know wetin dey happen . Bikonu when do we know its time to leave for the hospital?
NB: she is a first time mum, me self never marry, two naive souls, double wahala And mum said she is not coming till she puts to bed
Sorry for the long post Good morning mamas Am here again, please bear with me Finally We will be going for induction tomorrow Is there something we need to do? Any preparation apart from the normal hospital bag? Should I carry hot water along abi wait till she puts to bed? Any other advice on how to make it easier or any other thing will be greatly appreciated @ mummy Zaynie @ mummy jazzyjazz @ mummy sansa143 @Mummy mitchyy @Mummy Elmaspeed @mummy soonest @mummy liftedhands @ All sabi mams Please no jump pass |

mitchyy: To increase PCV...
Garden egg leaves. Squeeze the juice from the raw leaves and mixed with malt and drink.
Ugu leave juice is also good but taken in moderation. I prefer to take it without milk cus it slows down the absorption of iron. I currently steam vegetables and add to my meals everyday because I had low pcv due to my severe morning sickness. I slice ugu, eforiro leaf, waterleaf, scent leaf, then add crayfish powder, dryfish to sweeten it a bit, then steam together for just five-ten minutes. I either eat it like that or add to almost all my meals for the day.
First, have you confirmed your cousin's pcv is low? Second, have you timed her contractions to be sure its Braxton Hicks and not labour since she is 40weeks already? Make she nor go born for house o. Yes ma, she went for antenatal on Tuesday and did the pcv test, doctor said it was too low Maybe its braxton hicks, yesterday, the waist pain was accompanied with frequent defecation, anytime it starts, she just dey enter toilet dey comot anyhow, I was even scared and at a point I refused she won't enter, make she no go born for there, but after sometime, it stopped and she has not complained of the waist pain till now. She is 39 weeks Thank you ma |

soonest: Fiducia, she needs to time the waist pain. If it's regular and 10 mins apart, she will need to go to the hospital. If the pain is increasing in intensity then she needs to go to the hospital. Since she's already 40weeks now, baby will come anytime soon. All the best Thank you ma, God bless you |
