I rather stick with my VB.net cos am becoming an expert in it. I have develop alot of good applications like

* examination software, using computer to write exams

* banking system application
* download manager
* browser

* mathematics application

* student information recorder
* school management system

are they custom applications? For personal use? Or Open source? Will really love to try any of them.

20 tables? They really make use of the power of Relational database. Notice some creativity on their use of table Location. Some would have make 5 tables ( like UserLocation, EventLocation,WorkplaceLocation etc) for the same purpose despite the fact it'll hold the same type of record with the same number of fields and datatypes.

Can't get you right guy. Pls come again. Do you mean VB or VB.NET? With your mentioning of VB8, 10 & 12, i want to believe you mean to say VB.NET. If so, you can be a good programmer 'with only VB.NET' (quote me right). With it last edition vb6, microsoft put an end to that language. Since 2002 till date, VB.NET was introduced NOT as successor to vb6, but as a complet new language. Both in concept, capabilities, synthax, logic and presentation, VB.NET is not a resemblance of vb6 in anything. VB.NET is a full OOP & is capable of handly anything that OOP language can do but limited to Windows. You're not coding game, are you? Though platforms(OS) varies and may limits you, that would not make you a poor programmer simply because you're an expert in windows based language(s) and not in Linus or Mac. A very good java programmer can not be called a good programmer simply because he's not good in .NET languages neither.
Am programming in VB.NET now but fairly good in C++ being my 2nd after Qbasic (lol.. But sincerely, i learned something from that language) and i grasp a little of C#.net as well.
So if you are good VB.NET, then go on. If you want learned other language, that'll be an advantage.
If you don't over rely on microsoft enticing visual studio IDE and say NO to those wizards, then you'll only need to learn syntax of any other language. Ok am back to work

yeah but as i said, i didn't get more facts. I know that there are experienced web developers/programmers in nairaland. My question is calling for personal experience from those that have used the two technologies.

Much voice has been heard on the net about why php with mysql server should be used over asp.net with ms sql server or the other round, but not much facts or reasons has been given. I took a considerable time to read many posts and arguments on this topic, but the only point i could remember and probably the only point that filled the net was about the issues of Open source and licensing.

Best on your experience(s), why and when should one of this technologies prefer to the other? Take into considerations
1. Cost (code editor included)
2. security ( both the application integrity and code security)
3. Ease of Maintenance
4. Time of development
5. ... etc
Ease of learning is excluded

We can work together. Am really interested, it's an opportunity to work as a team. But i speak VB.NET and ASP.NET fluently but can only read and translat C#.

VC (VOICE/COMMAND) WORD PROCESSOR
A word processor that response to predefine command keys. All functions (like bold, align, margin, save as, print etc) are carry out thru key combinations. The system interacts with the user using voice\sound while the user response by pressing a combination of keys. The software will track and re echo all user's action while being the active window. It reads each word as it's type once space key is pressed or can be configure to reads per line.
You'll be able to start the program on two modes;

1. Reading mode
2 Editing mode

Reading mode will open window 's open dialog box and read all the folder or files with .doc extension in it as well as assign unique key values to each file or folder in sequence order for easy retrieval.
