Former US President Donald Trump has slammed Joe Biden for swapping US women's NBA star Brittney Griner for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout in a deal brokered by Saudi Arabia.

Brittney was freed on Thursday, Dec. 8, after spending nearly a year in Russian captivity as part of a prisoner swap deal with the Biden administration.

Reacting, Trump wrote in a post on his social media website Truth Social: "What kind of a deal is it to swap Brittney Griner, a basketball player who openly hates our country for the man known as 'The Merchant of Death'."

The former president suggested Paul Whelan should have been freed instead of Griner.

Whelan is a former Marine with citizenship in four nations, including the U.S., who was arrested in Russia in 2018 on espionage charges and convicted in 2020, receiving a 16-year prison sentence.

"What a stupid and unpatriotic embarrassment for the USA!" Trump added.

Griner, who was arrested in February for bringing vape cartridges with hashish oil into the country, was released in exchange for Viktor Bout, an infamous Russian arms dealer serving a 25-year sentence for conspiring to kill Americans, leading many critics of president Biden’s administration to say Russia got the better end of the trade.

Trump was President when Mr Whelan was detained on bogus espionage charges just three days after Christmas in 2018. He took no action to free him during his time in the White House when he had the power to do so.

Meanwhile, Trump's national security advisor John Bolton said the trade puts other Americans in danger of being detained by rogue states for bargaining power.

Meghan and Harry have shared the first intimate messages they exchanged before they went on a first date.

In their new Netflix series, the first episode called "The first date" sees the Royal couple share how they met each other and went for drinks whilst she was visiting London in the summer of 2016.

"But that’s your homework, you’re like hmm, let me see what they’re about in their feed, not what someone else says about them, but what they are putting out about themselves.

"That to me was the best barometer.

"I went through and it was just like beautiful photography and all these environmental shots and this time he was spending in Africa."

Harry then said they exchanged mobile numbers and were "constantly in touch".

He then text Meghan whilst she was in the UK and said: "So come on = what u doing tomorrow night? Hope you’re having fun over there!"

She replied with: "Heading back to Soho. I have a dinner tomorrow at 8 but can do drinks tomorrow night. Would that work? Maybe 6?"

He replied: "YOU’RE ON".

They then agreed to meet for drinks at the swanky bar 76 Dean Street in Soho, London.

At the time they were meant to meet, Prince Harry was stuck in traffic and was late.

Meghan said: "So I was like, 'Oh is this what he does? Got it.' Like, this, I’m not doing, I’m not gonna sit."

Harry replies: "What’s that supposed to mean?"

Meghan said: "Like, you’re one of those guys who has so much of an ego, that you’re not gonna..that any girl would sit around and wait a half an hour for you."

Harry then said he was a "hot, sweaty red ball of mess" when he finally turned up to the drinks, and he was "so embarrassed and late".

The following day Meghan rang Harry and asked him out for dinner at the same place.

But it was Meghan who was late this time. She had been at Wimbledon, and went home to get "dolled up" but was running behind schedule.

A legendary sword swallower has been hospitalised with horrific injuries to his abdomen and liver.

First responders were called to the Six Flags of America theme park in Woodmore, Maryland, on October 31, although Nelson reportedly didn't suffer the injury during the show.

"It wasn’t an accident during the show, but rather other unrelated health issues," said Josh Bowren, executive producer for Aaron Radatz Productionz, who directed the show Nelson appeared in.

Nelson, 59, said five swords scissored out in his abdominal cavity - seemingly during practice - and he was rushed to a nearby hospital in Washington DC.

Doctors initially thought Scott Nelson, also known as Murrugun The Mystic, wouldn't recover from his injuries, which saw part of his lung removed.

However, he is on the mend.

A GoFundMe page set up to financially support Nelson reads: "A San Diego staple, Scott Nelson, known popularly as Murrugun The Mystic (a sword swallower, actor, busker, all around entertainer), is in need of our help.

"He's been in the hospital in DC for over a month unable to eat solid food.

"They had to remove most of one of his lungs and initially the doctors did not think he was going to make it.

"He hasn't been able to eat for a month, he'll be in the DC hospital for at least another week, and he obviously hasn't been able to work and will not be able to work for some time."

Nelson reportedly told the founder of the fundraising page: "Five swords scissored out in my abdominal cavity.

"It also appears that I pierced the lobe of my liver.

"Good news is, I've quit smoking and lost over 50 lbs."

Photos posted to social media showed his injuries, which included several visible wounds and stitches on his body.

Mexican authorities have confirmed the death of a pregnant woman who was cut open by two assailants who stole her unborn baby.

The attorney general's office in the eastern state of Veracruz said in a statement, that the suspects were arrested with a newborn in their possession.

The suspects said to be a man and a woman, appeared before a judge on Monday, December 5, after being accused of kidnapping and femicide.

Local media reported that this is the third case that was carried out in the same manner in recent years. Relatives of the deceased also disclosed that the victim was lured to her death through social media with a promise of clothes for her baby.

An official linked to the investigation who spoke to AFP said the suspects sliced open the victim to extract the fetus because the woman attacker was unable to have children herself.

Legendary Brazilian footballer, Pele has reportedly been admitted to the hospital with swelling all over his body and heart failure issues.

The 82-year-old, currently undergoing metastatic cancer treatment, went into the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo on Tuesday November 29, for an unscheduled visit, according to ESPN Brasil, which describes Pele's condition as 'debilitated'.

After being taken by his wife Marcia Aoki and a carer to the hospital, medical staff confirmed his condition of anasarca (general swelling), an edematous syndrome (general edema), and identified 'decompensated heart failure', which causes functional limitation of the heart.

It is also reported that his chemotherapy treatment is no longer working. He was also diagnosed with mental confusion upon entering the hospital, where he became restless.

Pele is set to undergo several tests to further assess the organs that have been impacted by metastatic cancer.

The former footballer is reportedly struggling to eat. At the same time, medics are set to look at the likelihood of him having a hepatic encephalopathy, a nervous system disorder caused by severe liver disease.

However, Pele's daughter Kely Nascimento, who is not in Brazil, insisted there was no need for alarm and that her father's hospital admission is 'no surprise or emergency'.

She posted on Instagram: 'Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad's health. He is in the hospital regulating medication.

'There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Year's and promise to post some pictures.'

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed on a bumper £172.9million-a-year contract with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

This is coming after the 37-year-old had his Manchester United contract terminated following a tumultuous relationship with the club over controversial statements in a TV interview with Piers Morgan.

Now, Ronaldo is said to have sensationally agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with Al Nassr - worth an eye-watering £172.9million per year that will see him play until the age of 40, according to Spanish newspaper outlet Marca.

The former Real Madrid star rejected a switch to Saudi last summer, but without any firm interest from Europe's elite clubs, he looks set to now make the move.

Al-Nassr are one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, having being crowned winners of the country's top flight nine times, with their most recent triumph coming in 2019. They are currently managed by Frenchman Rudi Garcia, who has previously coached Roma, Marseille, and Lyon.

The Saudi giants also have a few big-name stars including goalkeeper David Ospina, Brazilian midfielder Luiz Gustavo, and Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar - who scored a contender for goal of the tournament at the Qatar World Cup earlier this week.
