I laugh at some human beings comments here. I pray oh God of Heaven that you help Mr. Buhari and his new government, please keep him safe from the wolves around him and please deliver Nigeria from their den. Howbeit, we shall be patiently waiting how the Miracle Worker, a.k.a 'Baba ONE CHANCE' will source for fund to administer this bogus social welfare. Till then, remain in the atmosphere of 'One Chance' Shalom! |

When did Buhari propose 1.89 TRILLION FOR HIS SOCIAL PROGRAM? Ask Obiagelli, the defender of APC, she should be able to help you with answer. |

barcanista: The APC just don't want any opposition that is why. They want everybody to "Yes Sir" "Yes Baba" to whatever they say. They are yet to hear the last of us. The best APC can do is to retract the Freedom of Information Bill and remove the Freedom of Speech clause from the Nigerian constitution if possible. Then, they are covered. |

barcanista: Even if they increase tax to 10 or 15% they won't be able to realise the needed money to fund the program. However, let's wait for them to announce increase in VAT and other tax, then we will analyse the new program and educate Nigerians on the consequences. barcanista, it's good to remind APC that we shall make them accountable for every word of their campaign promises. Gone are they days of bogus promises to win sympathy vote, CHANGE is here. |

atlwireles: Cutting the cost of government means sacking thousands of civil servants, there is no two ways about that. Reducing fraudulent business acts, is best imagined in this country. We refuse to restructure, so we are paying the price for inefficiency. Any form of Tax increase MUST AND WILL BE VIGOROUS OPPOSED. You will not tax hard working regions to fund loads of lazy poor people. Increasing any form of tax must be done at the state level.
Let APC take the same revenue as is today and perform their miracle, they promised Nigeria before the election. My own interpretation of cutting the cost of governance is REDUCING the fraudulent pay to all Legislators both state and federal, they should earn the normal wages a civil servant earn for his duty per month and even less as we don't require them to sit every day. On Taxes, Buhari cannot even munched the idea of tax increase at the moment until he is done addressing all cases of corruption, recovering enough money to run his deficit budget, sending the corrupted elements to jail and taken back all they have stolen. We expect the wonder working power of APC with Mr. Buhari to begin immediately after May 29th. |

Obiagelli: One meal for primary school kids isn't too much brother, have thought of the effect on the agric sector? Massive boom. I see your analysis in attempting to counter Bacarnista, but your projection make it looks as if Buhari will feed the children from all the revenue accrued to the government going by your computations, thou with many noticed loopholes. Buhari and APC govt. cannot afford to fail, the faith reposed in their government is beyond any complain or excuses. They must deliver all their electoral promises, if it would involve borrowing some money from Bukola Saraki, Ahmed Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi and others in their camp. Peace. |

Bayswater: I won't even try to counter the oshodi economics obiagelli showcased above. The APC think-tanks know that our revenue this year won't be enough to finance the budget and other immediate needs hence we are looking at a budget of deficit (expenditure will exceed revenue). Therefore, it will be useless for us to start analyzing Oby's figures - it is meaningless to even talk about oil revenue as a source of financing our budget.
The top hierarchy of the APC knows the revenue to be made from from oil and other sources of revenue this year won't be enough to finance the 2015 budget hence the reason why they are planning to raise taxes and VAT by the middle of the year! That's a shocker right.
Just get ready to pay a VAT of between 10% - 15% and higher income taxes. I know some people will ask what this means.
It simply means the price of every item you buy in the market now will go up as traders will find a way of passing this additional tax to buyers (consumers).
Buhari did this same thing in 1984 and it failed, now he is doing it again. All welcome the new change!!!
barcanista, anonimi, truckpusher, firefire, onatisi Honestly speaking, if Nigeria cut the cost of governance, reduce fraudulent businesses, cut the cost of all political office holder, then we can have more money to fund our developmental projects and not feeding the children at another bogus cost as postulated in APC campaign promises. Increasing of Taxes in Nigeria is inevitable but should not be the first option in generating more revenue, all loopholes should be blocked first. |

kaboninc: I never had any intention of commenting on nairaland tonight but your comment above made me puke! Damn! I felt some goose pimples and had to correct you.
The price of a barrel of crude is below 60USD, especially the Nigerian flavour. I thought you were complaining about the 'sudden' increase in naira-dollar exchange rate? Saying this government has failed to manage the economy? Now you're using it to validate your analogy (even when it is flawed). You're funny. I wonder what your definition of management is!
Oby, I beg you, please do not post such nonsense/rubbish and term it as fact again especially here in nairaland. Gosh, you're not talking to kids neither are we in the bear palour.
You're insulting our collective intelligence here. Biko!
For God's sake, the FIRS collects all revenues for the Federal Government and that includes the income generated from sales of crude oil. So where is the additional N4.69 trillion from FIRS coming from? Pluto?
In your analogy, you were so ignorant that you forgot to add the COST, EXPENSES incurred in lifting one barrel, processing it and subsequently selling it.
STOP posting rubbish here and labelling it as a FACT! Then again, isn't it amazing that you will spend about 20% - 25% of your national budget (1.8 trillion of 4.6 trillion) on direct consumption when there are urgent needs that require urgent attention? Still, I wonder what your definition of efficient management is! Maybe that's how your party, the APC intends to prune the cost of governance. So pathetic! I hope you know this year's budget is a budget of deficit? (or you don't know too?) Maybe you guys will print more money to execute your pipe project!
I beg you, STOP so that some lazy kids won't come here to pick these fractured information you post here and use it as a basis to argue.
Lastly, God gave us 2 eyes each and a wonderful reasoning component called the brain. Please let's use it.
Cheers.

I am challenging you and others to remain here, day in and day out, challenging and criticising the APC , as we did against the PDP, now that your 'local champion' is defeated. When GEJ has relocated to his Village to not 'send' people like you who wanted to die for him, I will see where you will get the strength and enduring character to come here in support of the PDP.
The truth is that it is not difficult to see that people like you stand for nothing and can thus fall for anything. Your character does not render you naturally capable of playing focused, meaningful and effective opposition. You and others should prove me wrong if you can Fellow Robot, Interesting... stand & fall. I represent and stand for every good thing accrued to humanity, good governance and transparency. All of us cannot sleep and place our heads in the same direction at the same time. Are you supporting a political party of you are supporting good governance? 90% of us supporting GEJ are passionate about him and we trust in his ability to deliver enough dividends of democracy, we are rendering selfless service to our motherland and we shall not relent until we see a better Nigeria for all and not for the few cabals. All for a better Nigeria. |

MizMyColi: I just downloaded, read and took a screenshot of all 20 pages of said APC roadmap.
I would be quite callous to expect them to deliver on all those. Those were actually written and graphicalized by good copywriters who had very vivid and idealistic sense of imagination.
I have always praised the PR and Media arm of APC, I hope they come up with some form of abracadabra to turn off to an appreciable level, the level of expectations Nigerians have bestowed on the incoming government.
My heart goes out to Buhari, who might not be able to handle these pressures and when they start pouring in, really I fear for his health.
Why has Osinbajo gone silent?
Why are there more news filtering in on Jonathan's loss and his campaign funds. Could this be a propaganda to quell the masses demand for 5k and free meals with the excuse that Jona finished all our money on elections (which might as well be a lie)?
Why is Buhari so party conscious, this is the same path Jona took (trying to placate everyone) and lost popularity with most of the populace.
The social media painted to me, an image of a man who is ruthless, who takes no prisoners....having read his recent interview, I must say this, I am not impressed, I have to point out though, that he made some statements that showed his selflessness and will to do the Nation good.....I hope his willpower sustains that.
Well, these are mostly random thoughts and I hope things pan out for the better in the near future. Despite my convictions about the APC, a huge part of me still looks forward to a better Nigeria, a changed Status quo.
So help us God. Well written. God deliver Nigeria from the Lion's Den. Amen! |
