It was their view that the same antecedents and antics that worked against him (Gen. Mohamodu Buhari Rtd.) in 2003, 2007 and 2011 were still in the minds of the electorate, who, the source said, were spread across the northern parts of the country. 2003 - F9 - FAIL 2007 - F9 - FAIL 2011 - F9 - FAIL Hence, name changed to Failure! |
AS a signal of the opposition that former Head of State, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhaari, is currently facing within the All Progressives Congress (APC), posters announcing his 2015 presidential bid, which were earlier pasted on walls and other strategic places in the ancient city of Kano, have been removed by unknown people. A reliable source told Sunday Tribune that most of the powerful politicians in the APC did not favour Buhari’s bid to be the standard-bearer of the party in the 2015 presidential election. According to the source, the inner circle members of the party were of the view that General Buhari is not only too old for the job, he is also not a sellable material, having contested the presidential race and lost on three different occasions. It was their view that the same antecedents and antics that worked against him in 2003, 2007 and 2011 were still in the minds of the electorate, who, the source said, were spread across the northern parts of the country. It was also stated that the crisis that erupted after the presidential election in 2011 in which many youths lost their lives may work against him and this may work have negative impact on the party. It was also stated by the source that most of well-to-do and heavy weight politicians in the party may not with to deploy their financial war chest to help the APC in prosecuting the election. Notable personalities Kano State governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the speaker of the House of the Representatives, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal are believed to have interest in contesting the presidential election, and may not throw their weight behind Buhari’s presidential candidature. Already, former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has declared his intention to take another shot at the exalted position. It was said that series of underground meetings were had been held on how to convince General Buhari to step down and endorse one aspirant among Atiku, Tambuwal and Kwankwaso. Said the source: “If he is adamant on contesting the presidential primary, the members will let him do so, but they may work against him at the APC presidential primary. “In the end, Buhari may resolve to pull out of the APC and to contest the presidential election on the platform of another party ,as he did during the 2011 presidential election build-up, when he pulled out from the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) and hurriedly formed the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) after being tactically edged out by the former presidential candidate of the defunct ANPP, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau. “A political pandora’s box will unfold from this month, but take it or leave it, Buhari will not get the ticket of the APC for the 2015 presidential election, and this will probably force his exit from the party.” This, the source said, might cause crisis within the party and lead to mass exodus of highly notable members of the party and eventually affect the chance of the party at the polls. This, he said, could pave the way for an easy ride by President Goodluck Jonathan in his effort to secure a second term of office. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/top-stories/item/15381-opposition-intensifies-against-buhari-within-apc |
cc: barcanister, descartes, egift, arewafederation, anago500, obiagelli,Keneking and other democrats it's time to call it a day in APC. |
“The APC has refused to address the issues of lack of internal democracy, religious and ethnic segregations, promotion of violence and other entrenched anti-people tendencies raised by those who left its fold. “Instead, it has resorted to cheap blackmail, propaganda and character assassination to divert attention. This shows the APC as a party of frustrated politicians attempting to use their mastery of the act of deception to hoodwink Nigerians”. “However, the recent confession by Tinubu that the APC National Convention was manipulated to stop Chief Ikimi, from emerging as the National Chairman clearly underscores the party’s undemocratic stance; the hollowness of its selection processes and the readiness to stifle democratic quest among its members,”. The ruling party noted that “it is on record that the APC is a party where individuals crown themselves national leaders without recourse to appropriate democratic process”, adding that such is “a clear manifestation of the fact that the APC is merely a private estate; a vehicle through which selfish politicians pursue their personal interests”. It also berated Tinubu for boasting that he will produce his party’s presidential candidate in the 2015 general election, an action that exposes his contempt for democratic due process and the worthlessness of any selection process that may be organized by the APC”. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/news-headlines/item/15385-2015-pdp-urges-democrats-in-apc-to-quit-says-it-has-nothing-to-offer-the-nation |
AHEAD of the 2015 general election, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Saturday, warned that the growing anti-democratic behaviour of the opposition, the All Progressive Congress (APC), if not checked, could undermine the entire democratic structure. To this end, it urged all the ‘democrats’ in the party to quit immediately. In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, the party declared that with the unfolding events on its leaders’ anti-democratic tendencies, APC had shown itself to be “nothing but a party of ill-bred, frustrated and intolerant politicians; bad losers for whom resorting to personal attacks, blackmail and mudslinging, in addition to promoting violence, has become an ideology.” It, therefore, advised all lovers of democracy still in the APC to immediately quit, as they were not likely to enjoy any democratic freedom under despotic leaders who were not disposed to divergent views. The statement described APC leaders as “incurable despots who have since instituted a reign of impunity characterised by brazen dictatorship, imposition and victimisation within the APC. It cautioned “those expecting free and fair primaries for the selection of APC candidates for the 2015 general elections to wake up to reality before it becomes too late. “That the APC is a party of self-centered and dictatorial politicians with no regard for democratic principles is well known to all. However, we have noted a disturbing pattern, wherein the APC leaders now resort to personal attacks on people when they dump their party. “The vitriolic attacks, insults and threats on former Kano governor, Ibrahim Shekarau; his Sokoto State counterpart, Attahiru Bafarawa; former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode and several others who were labelled ‘traitors and political misfits’ by APC leaders when they left the party easily come to mind. “Nigerians ponder. Why is it that the APC only realises that their members are traitors and misfits when they exercise their freedom of association and leave due to its undemocratic, destructive and anti-people agenda?” “One notable example is the recent attack by the APC’s unelected Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, against their former member, Chief Tom Ikimi, who he branded a ‘sellout’ and ‘unreliable’ personality because he left their fold. “How come Tinubu did not realise that Chief Ikimi was unreliable and a sell-out who cannot be trusted with the leadership of the APC until when he decided to leave? Did Tinubu not know all these when Ikimi was selected to lead the negotiation for the merger agreement that resulted in the formation of the APC?” |

Boko Haram: Jonathan it is time for Gag order With the way and manner rumor and malicious information are been disseminated on the war against terrorism and boko haram in Nigeria. I am of the opinion that for Nigeria to quickly make a win and end this nonsense once and for all, it is time to ISSUE – A GAG ORDER. A gag order (also known as a gagging order or suppression order) is an order, typically a legal order by a court or government, restricting information or comment from being made public, or in some cases, passed onto any unauthorized third party. Gag orders may be used, for example, to keep legitimate trade secrets of a company, to protect the integrity of ongoing police or military operations, or to protect the privacy of victims or minors. Few examples of countries who issued gag orders: India After the 2008 Mumbai attacks in which live streaming of the event was broadcast, the Indian government proposed a draft law that would gag media outlets broadcasting live pictures during a terrorist event or war, to ensure the safety of any hostages and to protect security operations from hindrance. Israel In late 2009 Israel issued a gag order against the Israeli media reporting on facts surrounding the Anat Kamm – Uri Blau affair. A gag order concerning the Prisoner X affair prevented Israeli coverage of the topic for more than two years. Malaysia There was speculation that a gag order may be imposed by the MCA on their press statements before they are released to the public to "ensure maximum effectiveness". Such releases would have to be approved by the president. North Korea United Kingdom A gag order, or anonymity order, is sometimes issued by courts in the United Kingdom to protect privacy, prevent harm to suspects, prisoners, witnesses, victims, or to protect 'national security'. In Spring 2011, gagging orders, or "super-injunctions" as they were called, were being referred to almost daily in the United Kingdom after a number of high-profile public figures, including celebrities and politicians, censored the British media from revealing information about their personal lives. United States A national security letter (18 U.S.C. § 2709), an administrative subpoena used by the FBI, has an attached gag order which restricts the recipient from ever saying anything about being served with one. The government has issued hundreds of thousands of such NSLs accompanied with gag orders. The gag orders have been upheld in court. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gag_order "Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense". - Gertrude Stein Shalom! - Firefire |
