Are you back?
If genocide means a life expectancy of 76 years which Nigerian wouldn't want that.
If genocide means a better life with a higher development index, which Nigerian wouldn't want it?
If genocide means less poverty even when 45% are unemployed, who wouldn't want that in Nigeria.
The Palestinians have giving us a new meaning to genocide. I love this kind of genocide.
Its easy to believe that you don't live in Nigeria and you are not even Nigerian because it would take only a hypocrite in Nigeria to claim that there is a genocide in Gaza and not Nigeria.
Wherever you live, visit Africa and you will change your mind about Gaza.
You would know that Israel is the worst Nation at carrying out genocides.
Travel and you will learn.
Because it's clear you are speaking out of the comfort of a wealthy nation.

grin grin Very funny and dumb comments. I should travel grin grin grin grin

You have never responded to any of my points so yes this is a good time for you to run.
You should really be ashamed of yourself. You live in a country with lower development index than war turn Gaza yet you shamelessly find a voice for Gaza.
If you fight against your evil leaders with the same zeal you fight against Israel maybe your life would be better.
You claim than a people with a life expectancy of 76 years are facing a genocide. I honestly pray for such genocide in Nigeria.
Now go and sleep and think of these things.

You have just exposed your ignorance thinking everyone that comes on Nairaland lives in Nigeria grin grin grin grin

Praying for Genocide in Nigeria. You are very twisted. smh

1. I said Israel has never been found guilty of genocide. If this is your example of genocide then I don't know what to tell you.

2. Both Gaza and the West bank have better GDPs and development index than a good number of African countries. No one is denying that Israel has to restrict their movement but it is only wise and well deserved. Israel has a right to protect itself from terrorists. Also Israel is one of the biggest providers of aid to Gaza. Please do your research. Israel gives much more than the olive trees you mentioned. Again, you refuse to answer the basics question, how does Gaza have better dev index than a number of peaceful African nations?
Forget GDP and let's talk dev index.
For example, infant mortality is much lower than Nigeria.
Again, are you not being a tiny bit dishonest, you never mentioned Gaza's corrupt gov as one of the problems. It's all Israel's fault.
You also forgot to mention that Gaza gets water, electricity, medical care, jobs and lot more at little or no cost from Israel.

3. Nigeria and Burundi eat much less red meat than Gaza yet they don't live as long. There is also a drug epidemic in Gaza. So you are obviously confused.

4. Can you also explain how countries in Africa have higher poverty rates than the people of Gaza suffering a genocide? Israel is very incompetent at this genocide game

I was gonna respond even when I said I will not on on the childish deviation from evidence of genocide to unintelligent focus on the economy of Palestine, but after reading through no 4, I guess the ignorance is deeper that I thought. Just re-read the nonsense you just wrote. No point engaging you. No point
Foreign Affairs / Re: What Will Happen If Israel Refuses To Abide By The International Court Decision? by Firstcitizen: 7:39pm On Jan 17
tctrills:

1. Just said it was not a binding rule and mind you, Israel has never been found guilty of genocide but the courts. If you are Israel why would you abide by a nonbinding rule?

2. No you are the child here. If 80 percent of Palestinians depend on aid and their GDP is better than many other countries then you should hold their gov responsible. I guess you don't understand how GDP works. They have become reliant on aid and their gov has become increasingly irresponsible. What do you say about a gov that converts water pipes to bombs?

3. Now this is even laughable. There is no evidence that the life expectancy of vegetarians is anything close to 100 years. Meanwhile, Nigeria has one of the lowest meat consumption rates and still one of the lowest life expectancy. Same with Burundi. Again, if you are educated enough to research, you will discover that Gaza has a meat consumption that is almost 4 times that of Nigeria. Please learn to research and stop embarrassing yourself. If Israel is committing genocide, they are very, very, very bad at it.
Also, no matter how much veggies you eat, if someone was actively shooting at you, you would die before the age of 76. Veggies are not bulletproof. Please research, Gaza has very high rates of smoking and drug use. It's a very big market for tramadol. Learn to research grin grin grin grin grin

4 & 5. That's you taking it personally because I disagree with you. I have been the one pulling out facts and evidence but you only keep insulting. What do you think the life expectancy was for Holocaust Jews? Do you think it was 76 years? I am still waiting for your first evidence of genocide.

Merci beaucoup grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Let me start from 5. the fact that you take the same words you spoke as insults speaks volume as to how one should not take you seriously

On 4. I have just stated facts. In your little world, the pictures and video evidence of bombings in refugee camps and hospitals and the bloodied faces of innocent children and carpet bombed neighbourhoods are fabricated,. For this I will insult you for once. You are despicable.I will no longer engage you as you do not deserve it .

On 3, healthy eating and non red meat consumption does not increase life expectancy? Ask your parents to seek refunds from the schools you attended if you did.

On 2. You seem very ignorant of the economy of Palestine. Let me paste you an extract from a report of one of the western media houses supporting Israel
"A complex web of checkpoints and roadblocks make it difficult for Palestinians to travel within the Palestinian Territories for jobs, to bank or to trade. Farmers whose land is now behind the barrier are required to apply for 'visitor permits' which Israel regularly rejects - in Akkaba it approved 49% of applications in 2011, and just 20% by 2012. More recently, a report from the World Bank found that Israeli restrictions in the West Bank alone cost the Palestinian economy $3.4bn (£2.1bn) a year, or 35% of its GDP."

Israel's reach in the Palestinian Territories means it can exert enormous power over Palestinian livelihoods. Oxfam estimates that 800,000 olive trees have been uprooted by Israeli authorities since 1967. As a result, the 80,000 Palestinian families that the UN claims are economically reliant on the olive harvest lose $12.3m each year To show the impact of this, Visualizing Palestine showed what an area with one thirty-third the amount of trees - Central Park - would look like if it were destroyed

Anyway you will deny this report as well so there is actually no point.

Finally on 1. Why do you speak from 2 sides of your mouth. You said earlier that Israel has never been found guilty by the ICJ.
tctrills:

Israel has not been found guilty by the ICJ.

My friend go and rest, I still maintain that you make zero sense.

Now you agree with me that this is all politics but still, you believe I am writing nonsense. I love the way you think. You asked me about the UN resolution, not the ICJ so I wonder what your ICJ question is. Please learn to stick to facts.
The ICJ is a completely different case. Israel has not been found guilty by the ICJ.

Now I brought up GDP to teach you that the suffering of the Palestanians is more imagined than real. People like you have turned them into perpetual victims even when they were having it better than many. Before Oct 7th, life in Gaza was much better than in Burundi or Niger, Yet people like you keep giving false narratives.

If there was a genocide, how come life expectancy in Gaza is 75.7 years? many times more than the African average. Israel must be really bad at this genocide thing or don't you think so? The people of Gaza are living longer than most people on Earth yet they are an endangered Species.

Haba, this cant make sense to even you

1. July 9, 2004-International Court of Justice finds Israeli barrier in Palestinian territory is illegal. Although this might not be a binding ruling, it was a great victory for those with a sense of humanity in them.

2. Your bringing up GDP comparisons of a people who are 80% dependent on foreign aid with one of the highest unemployment rates in the world, under occupation and under sub-human conditions is out of context, childish and entirely unintelligent.

3. If life expectancy with the blockade is 75+yrs, it means it would be 100yrs+ without blockade. Life expectancy is hig due to the fact that Palestinians have mostly a veggie diet, no illicit drugs and alcohol due to the conditions they live under.

4. You are no different from the minority who attempt to negate, deny and distort the established facts of the Nazi genocide of European Jews. Same thing you are doing now. History books in the near future will tell the stories of this group which you happen to fall under.

5. You cannot make sense to me because you actually make zero sense.

It's easy to claim that I spew nonsense yet you can't prove anything I have said to be wrong.

At least this time you attempted to challenge one of my points so let me respond to the only point you made.

Is it not amazing that with 45% unemployment, yet Gaza has lower poverty than nations like. Nigeria, Burundi and Niger.
Here are the UNDP figures for Gaza.

https://www.undp.org/press-releases/poverty-state-palestine-set-soar-more-third-if-war-continues-second-month
Is it not crazy, these people don't work yet you are poorer than them grin grin.

Also please go to the link below so you can understand that UN resolutions are all about voting and politics. With 57 countries as members of the international Islamic community (the OIC) and only one Jewish state, one would be a fool to expect a different result from these resolutions.
https://news.un.org/en/story/2023/12/1144717
Stop believing lies.
Meanwhile I am still waiting for you to explain how every UN resolution isn't political. Anyone who can prove that deserves a gold medal.

Who is arguing the role of politics in any decision made in the UN. Even decisions made under ChapterVII have a political undertone and are they not enforced. Yes or No? Which conflict in the world is not driven by politics. You see why I say you write a lot of nonsense. Note: I asked you about ICJ rulings not UN resolutions as you clearly seem not to know the difference. cheesy

You embarrass yourself with the GDP comparison grin grin grin What point are you trying to make?

By the way ,did you even bother to read the link you added. Maybe you did but cannot comprehend it.Chai cheesy cheesy cheesy

You write so much but you are making no points.

To sum up all you are saying, because more nations voted to find Israel guilty then Israel must be guilty of genocide.

Please let me teach you the meaning of the 'political'
When you depend entirely on a vote to find a country guilty, that's the meaning of politics.

Then again you are trying to be sentimental talking about me not having humanity but the truth is that people like you are your UN are the only reason why this crisis never ends.

You made the Palestinians eternal victims.
Before October 7th, Gaza had a GDP per Capita better than many African nations but people like you keep giving them excuses go be terrorists and to be stupid.

And stop blaming the US for all your problems. The US has done more for the Palestine people than all their Arab brothers put together.

You write so little but spew much nonsense. So ICJ rulings are political? Seems you just encountered the word recently and apply it out of context at will. You guys never fail to amaze everyone.

Quite amazing is the attempt to cloak the sufferings in Gaza by GDP comparisons with African nations. LIKE WTF. Still writing little and spewing so much nonsense. According to the UN before the present crisis, 80% of Gaza inhabitants relied on international aid. UNCTAD reported that in 2023 unemployment rate in GAZA was 45% and one of highest in world.

You claim many at the UN are the reason why the crisis never ends. Wow! Seems the prophet of the word 'political' has no inkling of international politics. grin

You spent so much time writing and insulting but forgot to explain you position. All you Hamas supporters are the same. The moment you meet someone who is ready to counter your claims you begin to call names.

One more thing, the ruling against Israel carries zero weight. There has been little to no consequences. The resolutions are just child's play. And the world is not a better place because of the UN or it's resolutions.
We both agree that the UN members voted to find Israel guilty of many things. But unlike you, I don't believe that justice should be entirely political. But you seem angry and unable to sell your argument. No one is contesting the fact that the UN found Israel guilty.

Let me leave you here so it doesn't become an insult contest.

No one has insulted you.It does not work with me.Stop trying to look for an avenue to throw victim sentiments on an argument.

You are even the one dancing around naked with a broken trumpet screaming " terrorist supporters" on anyone who speaks against the indiscriminate killing of women and children in hospitals.

No one is supporting Hamas but all united( except the US and its brainwashed supporters) against genocide, dehumanision of a people, land theft and ethnic cleansing and we have have to tell ourselves the truth about the remote and immediate causes of their actions. if you still have a little bit of humanity in you, you will realise what the UN has been trying to achieve peace but for US veto.

Did you just suggest that ICJ rulings are political? I guess there is no point engaging you then.

Let me explain.
A UN resolution only means more nations voted one way or the other. Hence it's boils down to politics.
Again the idea that UN resolutions is what's stopping invasions is false.
The UN resolutions did not stop the Iraq vs Iran war, the gulf wars, Russia vs Ukraine, Second Congo War (the African world war) so why exactly are you excited about UN resolutions?
Below is a link so you can better understand what a UN resolution is.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_resolution

You seem incapable of comprehending a simple comment on moral suation as a guiding principle to deter nations to an extent from territorial adventurism. If these resolutions are meaningless like you say, why have they continually been passed? Non enforcement resolutions may not be legally binding in the eyes of the myopic but the voting patterns and numbers shows how the world views the actions of the terrorist state, Israel. The country with the most UN resolutions against it.

You may educate yourself more on the rulings of the ICJ on the Israeli wall and occupation. Maybe then you may grow to understand that the fact that some resolutions are not enforceable does not mean they do not carry weight.

Keep your wiki link for your personal study. Even a school kid knows the difference between chapter vi and vii of the UN charter and how the US abuses vetoes to prevent enforcement.

You are just doing what you said you wouldn't do. Secondly, the UN resolution does not mean much. Just because Pakistan and any other nation voted against Israel does not mean they are right.
So if you really want to look at facts, I would be interested but presenting UN resolution as your facts is just being political.
Facts are facts and votes for or against don't change that.
More nations voted against Israel is not prove of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity.

Hba bros. UN resolutions mean nothing abi? then let it be disbanded and let us return to the middle ages so Nigeria can annex Ghana and Cameroon grin.(Not a bad idea) Google is your friend. You can check the long list of UN resolutions yourself. If you cannot, I can send you links.Peace!

Stop playing to the emotions. We both know what would happen if there is free flow of movement between Israel and Gaza. And it's hypocritical to accuse Israel of creating an open air prison in Gaza since Gaza has a common border with Egypt.
No one is accusing Egypt.
Why don't you ask the Egyptians why they also have a blockage against Gaza. No one wants to be overran by terrorists.
Finally, it's funny that you call the South African blacks your brothers because they don't think the same of you and they are prepared to kick other blacks out of their country.

I am not here for a dance around the music of emotion triggered delusions created by Western propaganda machines or the lies of all your 3 Abrahamic religions.

Facts! Facts and more facts I bring. I am not going to elevate Hamas into sainthood but Israel is a state that is involved in barbaric ethnic cleansing, genocide and crimes against humanity. They have also consistently contraved UN resolutions for decades.

By the way, hope you can manage to read the reasons I stated earlier for the Egyptian closure of the Raffah crossing.

Palestine don't want any country. Hamas have stated and acted in so many ways to suggest they are just another armed wing if Iran. They have no responsibility for Palestinians.

They are created to kill Jews all over the world. Their scope is beyond Israel...it's in the chatter that they would look for all Jews all over the world and kill them.

These are the people leading Palestinians. These are like lions who can't stay among men, they need to be caged. And Palestinians support them, that's why they are both in your open air prison.

Hamas doesn't want any country..they are Iranian fighters not Palestinians protector

Wow! did I just read the bolded in this 21st century or I teleported to medieval times shocked

I am pretty sure your security clearance is at top level that you had access to classified information about a plot on the genocide of jews, when even MOSSAD failed to see OCT 7

Please comment with facts and not one sided emotions. Yitzhak Rabin who laid the groundwork for peace and a 2 state solution was assasinated by Jewish nationalists. His widow has even accused Netanyahu of complicity in it. Netayanhu has repeatedly rejected a 2 state solution. Anyway his political career is almost at an end.

What open air prison when the Raffah crossing with Egypt is their for them to do whatever they want....!!! Oh they don't want that, they want Israel to open up her border so they can come in and display their animalistic behaviour...!! They want free access to the sea so they can import as many Islamic terrorist and weapons as possible to come help them drive Israel away...!!

Even on sea they have a small navy and they do fishing activities, I don't see any open air prison anywhere...just a narrative they coined to deceive the fible minds.. .!!

For peace to reign, isreal left gaza and allow for a self governance, what did they get in return, rockets and Oct 7th, if the gaza people are not animals I don't know which either way to describe them...!!!

Under the Apartheid convention or the Rome ICC Statute which Palestine acceded to, Inhumane conditions are "forcible transfer, expropriation of landed property, creation of separate reserves and ghettos, and denial of the right to leave and to return to one's country or the right to a nationality.”

Under international law if an occupying force imposes security restrictions on citizens, it is also duty bound on the long term to do so in a manner that does not abuse the fundamental human rights of such people. This, my friend is what Israel has abused for decades on the long term.

Egypt is not an occupying force and can restrict flow of human traffic through its borders without breaking international law.

There are several debatable reasons why Egypt has to keep this restriction in place and if you are conversant with international politics you will understand them. I give you one quote from Egyptian President Sisi. "The Palestinian struggle is the cause of all Arabs, It is important that the Palestinian people remain steadfast and present on their land.”

You say 'fibble minds'? I guess you are more versed on International law and human rights than the hundreds of experts at Human rights watch and other Human rights organisations that have declared Palestine an open air prison. Well done.

They wouldn't have been in the so called "open air prison " as u are claiming if not for their constant terrorist activities against the state of Israel. The same reason why it will be levelled to the ground now so that they will think twice & the consequences before embarking on any terrorist act in the future

Your comment is very familiar.
The fact that you used the same justification used by the apartheid white minority government of South Africa to place your fellow African brothers, under sub human conditions, rape and murder your sisters for decades, put them in jail as hostages without charge and brand them terrorists speaks volume.

Dude, why do policemen have weapons? Ain't them meant to protect civilians
You are funny, let me quote a key parts of the resolution

(1)demands the immediate establishment of a ceasefire and a complete end to violence and all attacks against, and abuses of, civilians;

(2)imposes a no-fly zone over Libya;

(3)authorizes "all necessary measures [...] to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, including Benghazi, while excluding a foreign occupation force of any form on any part of Libyan territory";

(4)strengthens the arms embargo and particularly action against mercenaries, by allowing for forcible inspections of ships and planes;
imposes a ban on all Libyan-designated flights;

(5)imposes an asset freeze on assets owned by the Libyan authorities, and reaffirms that such assets should be used for the benefit of the Libyan people;
extends the travel ban and assets freeze of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1970 to a number of additional individuals and Libyan entities;

(6)establishes a panel of experts to monitor and promote sanctions implementation.

Key point 1 demanded a unilateral cease fire which Gaddafi refuse to,

Key point 2,, did you see were the UN authorised all "necessary measures"to protect civilians,
All necessary measures may include airstrike against Gaddafi pro forces attacking civilians
Was is the USA that removed Gaddafi, it's people removed him, after year's of slavery
Gaddafi a known supporter of terrorism.
Is either you are blinded by hate, Gaddafi repeatedly attack civilians, killed thousands, also his revolutionary guards also fired upon NATO jets enforcing the no fly zone.

There are no USA base in Libya,

Read on the legitimacy of NATO intervention in Yugoslavia,
Many are of the opinion that the intervention was necessary to stop the deliberate attempt to commit genocide against ethics Albanians.
the UN review of the issue is subjective doesn't hold water, did the UN general assemble not voted against Russia war in Ukraine is illegal, has that stopped mad man Putin,

NATO is and will always be a defence alliance,
Your opinion simply doesn't change
That doesn't mean it's has to wait till one member is attacked before it makes it move.
Let me quote article 1 of NATO charter

"The Parties undertake, as set forth in the Charter of the United Nations, to settle any international dispute in which they may be involved by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security and justice are not endangered, and to refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force in any manner inconsistent with the purposes of the United Nations"

You can read from above that NATO ain't just formed to attend to members issues, but to Settle and intervene in international dispute, as approved by the United's Nations
So the intervention in Libya, Bosnian, Yugoslavia are consistent with the basis for which the organisation was formed.

.If NATO secretary general
Jens Stoltenberg during the last NATO general meeting calls the alliance the biggest defence alliance in the world, while the f**k will I care about your opinion.

Your inane vitriol against Russia still does not expain how this mandate fits into the attack of a convoy of a Nation's leader by drone and gleefully celebrating like savages "We came, we saw, he died"

Still can't explain how the UN ruled that the actions of NATO in Yugoslavia were illegal. Again your neigbour breeding leopards claiming they are for his protection. cheesy

NATO is a monster that has gone beyond the reason for it's formation and thank goodness the Russians have shown were the red lines are.
