SOURCE:https://www.firstone.com.ng/lacazette-to-barcelona-see-messi-reaction There are reports of Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette joining Barcelona, and it has attracted a reaction from Lionel Messi. According to Don Balon, the Argentine is not happy with the potential signing, with Lacazette likely to be too expensive for a backup. On top of that, Messi is loyal to team-mate Luis Suarez up front, and does not want Barca to sign anyone who would threaten the Uruguayan’s place in Ernesto Valverde’s starting XI, according to Don Balon. Lacazette has had a fine season for Arsenal, however, showing himself to be one of the club’s better performers in what has mostly been another dismal year. However, Don Balon claim Lacazette is content enough with life at the Emirates Stadium for the moment, though he could review his situation again next summer. According to Football Live, both matches are set to be held at Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba with tipped to be the captain in the absence of John Mikel Obi, who was excluded in the 23-man squad released on Monday, March 4. If Musa manages to score in the two fixtures, he will move up on the Super Eagles' goalscoring ranks as a brace would set to take him up alongside former Villareal striker, Ikechukwu Uche to 19 and become Nigeria's fourth highest scorer. The former Kano Pillars, VV Venlo of Holland, CSKA Moscow of Russia and Leicester City of England star is already Nigeria’s top scorer in World Cup history, following the braces he netted against Argentina at Brazil 2014 and Iceland at Russia 2018. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dismissed suggestions of a dressing-room bust-up with captain Jordan Henderson. Henderson and Klopp were involved in a touchline exchange when the midfielder was substituted during Liverpool’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United on Sunday. Klopp, whose Premier League leaders host Watford on Wednesday, labelled that a “pure misunderstanding” and said reports of a bust-up afterwards were wrong. “I could have shouted, but Hendo wasn’t even there. He was being drug tested,” the German told UK newspapers. Fine “Nothing. It’s bull****. Nothing happened after the game, we were completely fine. We spoke about the game and the opportunity we had, things we did, and then we drove home.” Klopp and Henderson eventually shook hands on the touchline at Old Trafford, the incident also dismissed by the manager. The former Borussia Dortmund boss said he was giving instructions to Xherdan Shaqiri and Henderson was thanking fans, leading to the handshake miss. “In terms of the situation, it was a pure misunderstanding. That’s clear. For me, when a player leaves the pitch, it’s clear, we shake hands but I’m in the situation as well. I didn’t say you have to wait for me until I look at you again as I was with Shaq talking and then Hendo left. He was saying thank you to the crowd. “I thought he didn’t [go to shake hands] and that’s why I turned and told him to [come back and shake my hand] but everyone else told me, ‘No, no, no, he wanted to shake your hand but you were not ready’. That’s how a misunderstanding works. That’s all. It was nothing.” Source :https://firstone.com.ng/klopp-rubbishes-henderson-bust-up-reports/

Soon the 2019 governorship election draws nearer, President Buhari has advised Nigerians not to vote any state governors that have formed the habit of owing workers in their state civil service many months of salaries despite receiving bailouts from Federal government. He stressed that workers have families as well to cater for and it is a matter of importance for a responsible governor to ensure that he pays the salaries of his workers. “I wonder how these governors are able to sleep, knowing that they have refused to pay workers their wages. A handwritten letter by Albert Einstein in which the physicist doubts the existence of God was auctioned on Tuesday for $2.89 million. It was a record for an Einstein letter and far surpassed its estimated value of $1.0-1.5 million, Christie’s said. A 1939 letter in which Einstein warned then president Franklin D. Roosevelt about Germany’s atom bomb preparations was auctioned for $2.1 million in 2002. In the letter sold on Tuesday, dated 1954 and written in German to philosopher Eric Gutkind, Einstein said he did not believe in God. “The word God is for me nothing but the expression and product of human weaknesses,” Einstein wrote. “The Bible, a collection of venerable but still rather primitive legends.” The letter was last sold in 2008 to a private collector for $404,000, Christie’s said. The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it will use devices to track campaign expenses of political parties for the 2019 general elections. The Chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who stated this, also warned incumbent elected public office holders against using state resources to fund campaigns. “Another interesting area of campaign finance spending to watch out for is the use of state administrative resources by incumbents, particularly now that the campaigns have kicked off. Section 100 (2) of the Electoral Act provides that state apparatus shall not be employed to the advantage or disadvantage of any political party or candidate at any election,” Yakubu stated. According to him, the commission has also reviewed and redesigned its campaign finance tracking and reporting forms that would be used by parties, candidates and observers. The INEC Chairman, represented by the commission’s National Commissioner, Prof. Anthonia Okoosi-Simbine, stated these on Monday in Abuja during a stakeholders’ roundtable with the theme, ‘2019 elections – Political corruption and other emerging issues.’ The programme was organised by a coalition of 400 civil rights organisations, Transition Monitoring Groups and two non-governmental organisations: Voice to the People and Hope Givers.
