*My Personal Orientation To Combating Insecurity Of Human Lives And Properties Across All 36 States In Nigeria*

Insecurity in Nigeria is not a single-state problem. From banditry in the North-West, to kidnapping on highways across the South-West, to farmer-herder clashes in the Middle Belt, and pipeline vandalism in the South-South, the threat to human lives and property is national. My orientation to combating it is built on 4 pillars: *Prevention, Intelligence, Community, and Justice.*

*1. Prevention through Opportunity*
Most insecurity thrives where there is poverty, idleness, and hopelessness. Across all 36 states, I believe the first line of defense is economic inclusion. That means state-specific skill programs tied to local resources: agri-tech in Benue and Kaduna, tech hubs in Lagos, Ogun and Enugu, mining cooperatives in Zamfara and Ebonyi, and maritime jobs in Rivers and Delta. When young people have legitimate pathways to income and dignity, recruitment into crime drops.

*2. Intelligence-led Security, Not Just Force*
Deploying more boots is not enough. We need a data-driven approach that works in all 36 states. This means investing in technology: CCTV in urban centers, drones for border and forest monitoring, and a centralized, interoperable database that links Police, DSS, Civil Defense, and local vigilantes. Intelligence must be real-time and shared across state lines, because criminals do not respect state boundaries. A kidnapping planned in Niger can be executed in Abuja. Our response must be that fast.

*3. Community as the First Responders*
Government cannot police every village. I believe in strengthening community policing and state security outfits, but with strict oversight, training, and human rights accountability. Traditional rulers, youth leaders, women’s groups, and religious institutions in each state must be part of early-warning systems. When communities trust security agencies enough to share information, prevention becomes possible. This also means addressing land disputes, farmer-herder conflicts, and cultism at the local level before they escalate.

*4. Swift Justice and Rule of Law*
Insecurity persists when there are no consequences. Across all 36 states, courts must be decongested, prosecution must be diligent, and victims must see justice. At the same time, security personnel must be held to the highest standard. Abuse of citizens destroys the trust needed to fight crime.

*Conclusion*
Combating insecurity is not about one big solution. It is about 36 tailored solutions under one national strategy: give people hope, use intelligence not just guns, empower communities, and ensure justice. Protecting lives and property is the first duty of government, and it is also the duty of every citizen to be vigilant and patriotic.

Only then can Nigerians in Sokoto, Port Harcourt, Jos, and Ikeja sleep with the same sense of safety.
