Jobs/Vacancies / Re: My Terrible Experience Applying For A High Paying Remote Job by fitinwell: 11:43am On May 06
BucketMan:
I don't know if some of you might remember this thread i made https://www.nairaland.com/8006821/should-go-masters-degree-remai where i contemplated going for a masters degree instead of remaining jobless at home. Well after assimilating all the advice i got from that thread, i decided to kill two birds with one stone and apply for the masters degree while also getting a laptop to start an online business in writing and copywriting which is where my passion lies.

Shortly after i got the laptop i found a creative writing opportunity via reddit and applied. One of the requirements for the job was to have a really fast typing speed (minimum of 60 words per minute). I just got my laptop so my typing speed was really slow but i resolved to increase it by practicing daily for a month and i grew from 35wpm to 62wpm which the job required.

That was just the beginning, the recruitment process for the job was done through a platform called Discord and they had a specific writing style that they wanted to inculcate in the applicants via daily trainings after which you will have to pass some exams. I started actively training for about a month and felt i was confident enough to take the intro exam, which i did and performed excellently so i moved on to the last stage.

Now this is where things got kind of complicated because this last stage required me to share my laptop screen in real time, kinda like a video call and prepare creative writing scripts for different scenarios that will be provided also in real time. The session was supervised by the recruiters and would last for 4 hours. I was fully locked in and confident in all that i had already learnt from training, However, the time for the test came and i was given a resource to download that i would use in writing these scripts. After downloading, setting it up on my laptop and then hopping on the live video call with the supervisors, i could not for the life of me get it to run efficiently, it was extremely slow and kept giving me a connection error feedback, I use MTN 4G and can't believe that the network chose that moment to start acting up. I still don't know if the real culprit is my laptop (2017 hp elitebook) or MTN network but after i switched to 3g and tried to hop back on the call to apologize to the supervisors for having a network glitch, i realized they had already blocked me, so i wasn't even given a chance to showcase my skills and this is what pains me most.

This is the reason that was given: "poor internet on a remote job, i'm sorry but it cannot work".

I'm so devastated, all the effort, time and resources invested into becoming a perfect fit for the job has been washed away in a blink. Now, i'm back home in my mom's house, in shame and defeat, with less than #1k to my name having used all my savings to get the laptop and for data subscriptions. I'm just lost on what to do right now, i have been admitted but i can't even go for the masters i applied for anymore and i was thinking to myself that even though i had gotten the job, how would i have kept up with the 8 hours per shift work schedule when there is very epileptic power supply where i live.

Is success still possible in Nigeria for those that are still struggling? or are we all doomed to fail again and again, especially for those of us looking to succeed online. I'm 26 atm and i don't know how long this will continue, it's just like all the forces of nature are working against me being rich and successful. Where can i find the motivation to search for something else to do in order to be productive when everything always ends in failure? is there even anything else to do?

Sorry for the long post, just thought i should share my experience and this is like the only platform that i can vent due to not really having anyone to talk to irl.

You are not alone.., on this journey

Just don't give up on yourself.

she will arrange and bag and say she's leaving. this has happened more tha 4 times, basically anytime we have issues as a couple.

She will say she's still young and she can't take any nonsense in marriage, Mind u i have never hit her before so this isnt a case of domestic violence, just normal couples issue.

I'm tired of this and i'm thinking about my options right now, I want to tell her to leave but she should drop my child for me. she can't use our marriage as a threat everytime we have issues

Hmmmmm..... How can this happen if the center didn't allow the Father replace the Son?

If you own a JAMB exam center try follow up to know what those IT boys are doing. Some of them clone some computers and keep the duplicate in the Server room. The runs guy answers the questions from the sever room.

Some use the next compound to the JAMB center, draw connection from the JAMB router and set up runs guys to write from there.

Some use the one hour interval after you have submitted to edit the work cos they did not submit it to JAMB router but to their school router.

The IT guys need to be policed ooooo. We are just too corrupt in 9ja. They are looking for every means to spoiled the good work JAMB is doing.

I am even hearing a new one around, they now have an App that the runs guys use to hack into JAMB server provided they are around the center. From their phones they login the students ID and take the exams from them while standing outside the JAMB center.

JAMB should really work hard and block these bad IT guys. Ask students writing JAMB and they will gist your ear full. Found myself around some of them after their exams, my ear full.

Oga dis are jamboree lies... For you to perpetrate this Jamb Exam Fraud you must either be the Jamb center Technical Administrator which maybe a Novice to ICT..

Or Jamb Technical Staff sent to the Center to coordinate Exam..

This are the two official you can Buy before you can successfully bypass Jamb Exam questions...

NairaOcean:
A Dana Air aircraft with 83 passengers and registration number 5N BKI flying from Abuja to Lagos, was on Tuesday, reported to have suffered a runway excursion at the Lagos Murtala Mohammed airport.

A runway excursion occurs when an aircraft veers off the runway in use during the take-off or landing run.

Confirming the incident, Dana Air in a statement, said although the passengers were safely disembarked with no injuries, it had reported the incident to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Board (NSIB) and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

It added that the aircraft had been grounded by the maintenance team, pending further investigation.

The airline also apologised to passengers on the flight, commending their patience, while thanking the airport authorities for their swift response to the incident.

Crime / Re: She Was Duped Of N20,000 by fitinwell: 4:38pm On Apr 24
edogu:
This morning I went to a POS attendant to make a withdrawal and in the process she narrated to me how she was duped of N20,000.

According to her, a young man ( probably early 20s or less) approached her to make a withdrawal of N20,000. After inserting his ATM card into the POS machine, she returned the machine for him to insert his PIN. The transaction was successful with an inscription "withdrawal approved" written on the POS screen. At this point, there was nothing suspicious about the transaction. She counted the money and gave the young man.

How did she find out?

Well, when the young man left, another customer came to make a withdrawal using First Bank ATM, she discovered that there was no network. If that's the case, according to her, how then did the first person succed (the first person equally came with First bank ATM) when there's no network at all.

The above scenario prompted her to check her transaction history. Unfortunately, there was no trace of initial transaction (N20,000). Instead what she saw on the history was a message that the first person has exceeded his limit. Which means the transaction wasn't actually successful but the young man manipulated the machine to look so. At this point, the young man has gone to God knows where. May be to try his luck on another ignorant attendant.

According to woman, she has never had this kind of experience. There's no trace of withdrawal but the transaction was successful from the indication on the POS screen.

The guy even bought boxers worth N3000 from the attendant using the same money.

Here comes my question?
How was he able to maneuver or manipulate the POS machine for the " withdrawal approved" message to come up? Mehn, one really need to be careful especially in this difficult moment.

This story is not true..

You failed to mention the type of Pos Terminal u re using..

When it says Successful.. didn't you check your Balance...?

Some terminal cannot allow you to change the Value u want to Withdraw, because if you try to go back ... The Pos will re validate your ATM card..

Anyway sha... If you are a Novice not too smart with gadgets.

Even some people don't know how to use there iphones ,smart phones..

These are the set of people , that are easily scammed.

A lawyer and Chaiftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jesutega Onokpes has said that common sense should tell the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that the legal thing to do before attempting to arrest the former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, was to first set aside the High Court order preventing him from being arrested, detained or prosecuted and that being a federal agency does no make it legal for EFCC to jump an oder concerning a state public servant.

...Says Bello was a State Governor and that the state's High Court order must be respected.

He disclosed this as a guest on the program "Stand Point" on TVC on Saturday.
