BusinessRe: How Government Policies Is Killing My Business by fiyi: 9:36am On Oct 25, 2023
Its not about who you vote for, its about the fundamentals. The fundamentals remain same irrespective. The last regime destroyed the fundamentals built from 1999 till 2014. Whoever is there now cannot do magic over night other than we bear the pain and enjoy tomorrow. For me, we should have a list of items that we should never ever be imported to our country. And yearly, we keep increasing the list. Its either we find a way to produce those items locally or we dont use those items. I tell you, in a decade we should start seeing sign of greatness has a country.

TravelRe: Stuck Abroad While Mother Is Dying In Nigeria . Dark Side Of Japa by fiyi: 4:07pm On Sep 19, 2023

One could leave the UK and travel out to wherever one wants if you enter into the country legitimately. It is even hard to live and prosper in the UK illegally nowadays.
One doesn’t have to wait till after 10 or 15years before one can go back to see the loved ones in Nigeria except you are not sincere or something is shady.

If you have the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) as a student, worker or a dependant, you could enter and go out so far you have your money for flight and informed your school or took permission from your place of work.

That your kind of scenario is common in Canada, Australia and US where people that are extremely fortunate to enter with tourist visa or student visa and decided not to go again.
PoliticsRe: Investigator Probes CBN Staff, Consultants, NIBSS, NSPMC by fiyi: 11:10am On Aug 14, 2023
The problem of Nigeria is, very few people benefit from the system while majority are suffering from system.

What is the entire staff strength of CBN, maybe less than 1,000 and from this, maybe another 700 are milking the it dry. 1,000 or 700 are both less than 0.0001% of the population of Nigeria. So, 1,000/700 people are holding the nation to ransom.

Same with the entire civil service. With a population of less than 1M, and with another 70 or 80 % of this population milking our entire common wealth, year in year out, you will understand the fact that, it will be extremely difficult for our Nation to come out of the wood. Same with State Civil Service.

It will amaze you that some Permanent Secretary, HODs are richer than some State or local government areas as a results of the wealth they have stolen over the years.

So not surprised by the the CBN report, Its a reflection of the entire civil service and it will take a courageous leader to unroot the evil on the system.
CareerRe: Is Japa Worth It? by fiyi: 3:11pm On Jul 25, 2023
Well...you are lucky to have a remote job paying $3000. But like someone said, if you lose it what are the chances of getting another one asap. However, if you are in the abroad, you don't need to lose the job before getting another one with higher pay. While at it, by just sending out your CV, you will get more than 10 organisations inviting you for interview, some may offer you job immediately.

Again, without no immediate family as in a wife ,child or children $3000 is alot of money . Since its remote or hybrid job, your net expenses should be less than $500 meaning you should be able to save a minimum of $25000 annually. With good investment decisions in stocks, MM etc you should be able to achieve a minimum of 10% ROI. If you compound this over a three year period, you should have saved over $80000. This is a lot of money.

On the japa part, The honest truth is majority of Nigerians are doing better than this, as some are lucky to be earning your 3k USD or more, some are not privilege to earn such. But the difference is that those not earning as you, are earning a minimum wage that is able to make them happy and also they have a good future opportunity to earn as you in a secured safe environment for them as well as their family.

But all in all, the final decision is yours to make. Nigeria is so unpredictable that you never know what will be the economic situation in a short, medium or long term.
