A fuel tanker loaded with PMS crashed after Mallo on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway this morning. The accident caused an obstruction along the road as FRSC officials are making efforts to clear the obstruction.

The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command, last weekend, apprehended two members of a robbery gang using motorcycle, popularly called Okada, to rob around Lekki-Ajah Expressway in Lagos.

The two suspects, Odunayo Mustapha, 22, and Adedayo Akinjola, 22, were arrested by the RRS bikers on patrol duty after they had successfully snatched a mobile phone from an unsuspected members of the public.

When the police heard their victim, a young lady, screamed that her mobile phone had been snatched, immediately, the RRS bikers gave thethree suspects a chase. One of the suspects, later identified as Lekan, made away with the stole phone.

The other two suspects who were nabbed whiletrying to escape with their motorcycle confessed that they were a three-man gang and usually rob in a traffic gridlock along Lekki-Ajah corridor.

The leader of the gang, Odunayo Mustapha, who hails from Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun State, said that he was lured into the crime due to financialpredicament. He disclosed to the Police that hisvictim's phone attracted his attention when he peeped into her car while on the bike.

Yesterday evening, indigenes of Bayelsa state finally hived a sigh of relief as the long tussle for the seat of governorship in the state which began in December, finally came to a victorious end for PDP members. According to results announced by the State Collation/ Returning Officer, Prof. Zana Akpagu, Dickson won with 134,998 votes as against Sylva who polled 86,852 votes.

PDP defeated APC by a total of 48,146 votes in the election that had a total of 232,167 votes cast with 225,520 valid votes and 6,647 rejected.

Shortly after INEC declared Dickson new governor-elect of the state, the governor was pictured jubilating with some of his supporters.

Reports say that police in Migori, Kenya are currently investigating claims that a 7-year old boy beat his 8-year old neighbour to death.

The deceased, Tonny Omondi is said to have died on the spot after several vicious kicks and blows to the groin by the assailant. Tommy was a pupil at St Dorothy Academy whilst the assailant is said to be a pupil at St Peters Academy, both in Migori.

The police confirmed the incident and said they will know the exact cause of death after post-mortem reports from the pathologist. The assailant is said to be in the custody of the police.
