My LO had the same thing. I tried Nospamin and it worked. (Or I believed it did)
Her stomach was big too and she was always passing smelly gas. After about 4 months it all stopped. No more groaning, no more stretching when she wants to poo.
And the stomach has considerably gone down too.

the sonographer even laughed at me before he assured me that everything was fine, I guess its their digestive system at work! its just weird wen he's feeding and u can hear his stomach rumble, thanks ma

IMHO, I think it's too much gas in the tummy.
*Burp often
*Don't allow him cry for long b4 feeding so that he doesn't swallow much gas
*If you are doing exclusive, make sure he latches properly to avoid much swallowing of air
*If you are bottle feeding, watch how you position the bottle
*Gently massage his tummy at bath time.

@ Florena, I was laughing wen reading ur rant cos it was on dsame thread or new born thread, can't remember now, dat one mama was complaining dat her muminlaw goes 2 her room 2 sleep @ 9pm leaving her alone wit d baby till mrn. I think apart 4rm d old practices ur muminlaw came wit, she is ok o. D truth is u ll miss her carrying baby 4 u except u av helping hand. Wen my muminlaw came after a mth I put 2 bed, we already decided she ll stay in our room while dh relocated 2 guest room. Immediately baby wakes@ night, she gets up, feeds him n pet him 2 sleep. Except on some nights, den I get 2 breastfeed him n hand him ova 2 her. Day time I leave him wit her nd go n catch some sleep. She took care of baby while I did all oda tins, cooking, loading d machine n all.
Wen I'm @ my mum's place, immediately baby makes noise, she hands dem ova, she leaves her room 4 us n goes 2 sleep in dad room @ night bt checks on us 4rm once or twice @ night. She cooks n washes clothes. My mum also believes in d navel pressing. She did same tin 4 all my 3births. So njoy d one u can n tank God u r going 2 ur house soon den u can do it d way u r comfortable wit. Pele, remain small.

This is serious.... my SIL spent only two weeks with us since my MIL is late, she wanted to behave like ur MIL too but I had to lay Down my rules abeg I can't shout. The baby carrying part is so annoying, If I can't carry my baby nobody will ... I told her that I don't want him to be used to hand as I will soon go back to work so she only carry him whenever I give him to her at my own will. I prepare my baby's water, not too hot... pls don't over massage my baby with hot water. After bathing him she hands him over to me I do the rest... it is well Dear.

how do you people lay down rules pls, MIL is 65 and she believes she knows everything. I'm already planning my escape route, maybe when I'm finally free I will share everything here, I'm going through a lot.

the only time she used lanttern and a napkin 4my baby's navel was like 2weeks after his cord drooped and I tried sm med to soothe him but, none worked so she used it and less dan 2weeks, my baby was fine.

the colic is not even affecting him, he sleeps well and he does not cry anyhow so why burn his navel morning, afternoon, night when it as dried up?

Squeeze scent leaf and drink it for like 5 days, you can as well prepare bitter leaf soup to augment the scent leaf. Avoid sugary things.

For more clarification, is it back pain or waist pain?

If its back pain, it not jedijedi o, may be the way you are sitting breastfeeding. Lie on a flat surface for like 30 minutes everyday. Massage it with balm.

But if its waist pain, try my first option.

As a yoruba, d naming ceremony of a males first child is done at his parents house, (I don't think its all Yoruba sha), so I'm still at father in laws house, my MIL is killing me, and when you correct her she will tell you she as been training kids since.

She will massage baby with hot water morning and night, the quantity of oil she puts on baby's hair can fry dodo, she does not sleep in her room (the most annoying) she sleeps in our room and jumps at the sound of baby crying, in fact she does not allow me carry baby unless he's crying, I'm giving baby breast milk alone, my MIL as given him water saying how can one eat without drinking water, one day I told her not to use d Johnson baby soap I bought for him cause of d rashes on his body, I went into my room b4 I came out she has started bathing baby with okin antiseptic, she uses lantern and cloth to massage baby's navel, she as been doing it for a week now and it takes her like 20minutes, 3 times a day. Whereas my mom said sh suppose to have stopped since the outer part is healed. My sisters I'm tired.

That's how she made a statement one day that we are spending 3months with her, aaaaah for where. I've already told her I'm resuming school on the 12th, I can't wait to have my baby to myself.

My point is that you should choose your mom first, so u can say no to her frankly, my mom will always ask me what I want to do for my baby whenever she's around, she does not just take decisions on her own.
