An Abeokuta High Court on Wednesday sentenced two brothers, John Kuku, 45, Fabu Kuku, 33, to death by hanging for armed robbery.

The accused persons who live at Opic Estate at Agbara in Lagos were found guilty of a two-count of conspiracy and armed robbery.

In her judgment, Justice Olatokunbo Majekodumi said the convicts were found guilty of the offences.

“Having found that the accused persons are guilty as charged on both counts, you shall be hung by the neck until you are dead, may the Lord have mercy on you,” Majekodunmi said.

The judge said that the offences committed contravened Section 6(b) and was punishable under Section1(2)( a) of the Robbery and Firearms (special provisions) Act, Cap Rll Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The convicts, who had been standing trial since June 2012, had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The duo were arrested and charged for robbing one Mr Kojo Debue of N300,000.

Majekodunmi said the convicts and others at large committed the offence at about 12.00a.m. at Asaidu village, Ajebo via Obafemi-Owode Area in Ogun.

Majekodunmi said the two convicts who are from Cotonou, Republic of Benin, and others robbed the complainant and his family in their house.

She said the duo and one other came into the house of Debue at midnight and asked them to open the door, the complainant’s younger brother Sunday who was living with them opened the door.

Majekodunmi said one of them pointed a gun at the complainant while the others carried the box inside which the complainant kept his money.

She said, “During the trial process, the second accused confessed that it was Sunday, the younger brother to the complainant that accosted them.

“He, then, told them his elder brother was a treasurer of a local contribution group and has up to N1m at home which they would go and rob.

“He said after the robbery operation they all flee into the bush, when the complainant shouted for help, the vigilante group in the village rushed inside the bush and searched for them.

“During the searching process in the bush, the vigilante group shot one of the robbers, Kasim Olajide on his leg, which later led to his death.

“They also arrested the other two robbers and handed them over to the police at Ajebo while Sunday was nowhere to be found.

“All effort made to arrest Sunday, the mastermind of the alleged robbery proved abortive.”

The prosecution counsel, Mr O. K. Adeniyi said that all the proof tendered convinced the court beyond reasonable doubt that the convicts committed the offences.

“The blood that comes and goes to the penis, and then trapped in there to achieve an erection, only works properly in men with a normally functioning cardiovascular system. When this system does not work properly, problems also occur in erections,” Rauf warns.

He adds that when people in a certain group complain of erection problems, if doctors can handle the problem sensibly, they can catch a cardiovascular disease in its early stage.

“Since the diameter of the main artery going to the penis is smaller than the heart arteries, any obstructions in these areas become evident very early on,” Rauf warns.

Diabetes

Diabetes happens to be one of the most devastating diseases that anyone can have.

According to diabetologist/Medical Director of Rainbow Specialist Hospital, Isiavwe Afokoghene, if not put under control through appropriate medications and sound lifestyle habit, diabetes complications can wreak untold havoc on all organs of the body such as the eyes, nerves, kidneys, and the heart; and it may eventually kill.

For men living with diabetes, low libido or low sex desire is a constant companion. This is mainly because of their high blood glucose levels.

Worse still, scientists warn, even when a diabetic man is able to have sex, he may be unable to reach orgasm!

“High sugar levels in men with diabetes can affect the function of the nerves in the penis, leading to erectile function,” physicians warn.

Indeed, a study published in the peer-reviewed journal, Diabetes Care, reveals that, for people who already have diabetes, sexual problems can indicate nerve damage, blocked arteries, and hormones that are functioning in haphazard manner.

The scientists say one of the main sexual problems men with diabetes face is the inability to have an erection, as damage to the vascular system can impair blood flow.

“If the blood vessels aren’t functioning properly or if an artery is blocked, not enough blood will travel to the penis, making it difficult to get an erection,” they warn.

Psychological, psychiatric and neurological diseases

Problems such as psychosis, intense stress and depression don’t only cause erectile dysfunction, they also cause lack of libido and ejaculation disorders.

Rauf says that performance anxiety is also an important psychogenic problem (having a psychological origin or cause rather than a physical one) that causes excessive nervousness and erection problems in men.

Neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis and epilepsy can affect many functions of the body, including erection, with the damage they cause in the brain and peripheral nerves.

Also, the head and spine trauma that is suffered particularly in traffic accidents cause many problems including sexual dysfunction.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, says President Muhammadu Buhari is neither critically ill nor in life threatening situation and there is no cause for alarm.

The minister reiterated this position on Monday in Umuahia at the second town hall meeting for the South East and the launch of national reorientation campaign, “Change Begins With Me’’ in Abia.

The minister, who was asked to tell the country about the health condition of the president and whether there was a need for a regular briefing on his health stressed that there was no reason for such briefings.

Mohammed disclosed that the president spoke with him on Saturday in the afternoon and there was no reason for Nigerians to be worried.

He said, “I can say here very boldly and confidently that there is absolutely no cause for alarm.

“Mr president called me at 2.43 p.m. on Saturday and we spoke.

“If Mr president is in the hospital or is critically ill, as minister of information, I will give daily bulletin on his health.

“Mr president is neither critically ill nor in the hospital and there is nothing life threatening about the checks he is going through.”

Speaking on the state of the economy, the minister said that it was corruption that made the prices of commodities to go up.

He noted that no economy in the world could survive the blind and reckless looting perpetrated by the previous administration.

He said, “If one person was found with almost $10m in an uncompleted house and another with $136m in fake account and other with N7bn how can the economy survives the kind of looting.

“Naturally the price of commodities will go up.

“These are funds meant for development of infrastructure and for the provision of services.

“That is why you cannot do anything with the economy without first facing corruption squarely.

“But the good news is that the government is doing both together, as we are fighting corruption, we are also making sure that we are ensuring we are out of recession by investing heavily on infrastructure.”

Mohammed also pacified the audience who lamented the spate of attacks on farmers by the herdsmen.

He said contrary to the position of some elements who want to destroy the unity of the country, the government was not supporting any section of the country against the other.

He said it was purely security issue and it was being handled from both the federal and the state levels.

“I want to make the appeal that the strength of Nigeria is in its diversity and unity.

“We have been living together peacefully before and we shall continue to live together peacefully,’’ he said.

Speaking in the same vein, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, apologised on behalf of the Federal Government to the farmers who had suffered from the ugly trend.

“We in the Ministry of Agriculture are mostly affected in this crisis and frankly we feel deeply disturbed about it.

“Like the two traditional rulers had said, you asked people to go and farm and there is this problem of herdsmen tormenting them and their cattle eating up their crops.

“It is affecting not only the farmers but the food that they are supposed to produce and sell to the society.

“As a farmer, nothing can be more upsetting to wake up and find out that my farm has been destroyed.

They have done it to me and I know how it badly affected me but we will bring the challenge to an end very soon,’’ he said.

Ogbeh said the Federal Government is training 3000 agro rangers who will protect farms in different places.

Less than a year after winning Leicester City’s first EPL title, Claudio Ranieri has been sacked as manager.

The Foxes are suffering this season, as they’re just one point outside relegation and 17th on the table after 25 games.

This is not the first time Ranieri is being sacked in the Premier League, as he was sacked by Chelsea in 2004, after he failed to deliver the league title.

The Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria has said that the proposed ban of yellow buses popularly called Danfo by the Lagos State Government would assist in professionalizing their jobs.

On Thursday, the National President of the association, Mr Israel Adeshola, said that the development would have positive impacts on the conductors’ job in Lagos state.

“The ban is going to have positive impacts on our members; it will promote and elevate our jobs. Members of the society have already categorized conductors as touts and illiterates.”

“But with the new government policy on the transportation system, people will have to get approval from political leaders and traditional rulers before becoming conductors in Lagos State.”

“There is no way the government can take such decision and sideline over 6000 registered members of BCAN in the state.”

“I am sure we are not going to be marginalized in the upcoming system, we are going to be involved in making Lagos a Mega City.” He said.

He added that the association was looking into the introduction of uniforms with tag and identification numbers for easy identification of each member. Mr Adeshola said that conductor’s job was vital in the transportation sector.

He said, “We have embarked on sensitization and training of our members, things cannot continue like this forever.”

“You have to upgrade yourself and prepare for opportunities, we are planning to improve our services and assure passengers that we are reliable and responsible people.”

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode had earlier this month announced a plan to stop operations of danfo buses for a more efficient, well-structured and world-class mass transport system.

Ambode said that the well-structured transport system would ease movement within the state and make Lagos cleaner, as well as lessen taxes on the people.

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has signed into law Pension Rights of Judges (Amendment) Act, 2017, and six other Bills passed by the National Assembly.

Following Osinbajo’s assent to these Bills, they have now become Acts of the National Assembly.

This disclosure was made in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang.

According to Enang, the Bills are:

Oaths (Amendment) Act, 2017;

Defence Space Adminis- tration Act, 2017;

Veterinary Surgeons (Amend-ment) Act, 2017;

National Film and Video Censors Board (Amendment)Act, 2017;

“I don’t know why my friend would want to kill me but that was one of the most shocking moments of my life. It happened at the studio in my house; I just came downstairs and the next thing I saw was my friend with a gun. I called him but he did not
reply. Then I saw the look on his face. He came with some other people. The guy by his side just took the gun from my friend’s hand because he noticed that my friend was already having a change of heart and he did not want to shoot me. When the guy took the gun, he tried to shoot me but I was lucky the gun jammed, so everybody ran away.
“To be honest, I don’t know what could have made him want to kill me. The only issue I think we had was not enough to cause any issue. I was shooting the video of one of my songs in Abuja the same day he was shooting the video of one of his songs that he featured me. I told him that I couldn’t  be there for his video because I was working on my own video. I told him that once I returned to Lagos, I would make sure I shoot my part of his video and I would take care of the cost. It was when I got back that he came to my house with a gun.” </ol>

The rapper said he had to report the matter to the police and his friend was arrested.

“They moved him out of our estate because he lived near my house. The police later told us that estate residents had been complaining about him and that they did not want someone who walked around with a gun living in their estate. That was how he was evicted from the estate and I felt bad about it.”
“All that is behind me now and I am thinking of my new projects. I have my record label and a sponsor because immediately I left Storm Records, I decided to be on my own without relying on anyone. Along the line, somebody came to support me financially in the person of Prince Mefe. 
I decided not to be like other conventional artistes who would rather be very established before signing new acts. Every step I take, I want someone to grow with me the way Olamide also brought some guys up as he was becoming big as a star. Already, I have four artistes signed to my record label, KKTBM, and they are LK Kuddy, S.H.E, Percy, and Sean Dennis.”

The naira appears to have entered a free fall mode with the local currency selling for 516 per United States dollar on the streets of Lagos on Thursday.

The naira plummeted at the parallel market from 510/dollar on Wednesday to 516/dollar on Thursday.

Currency dealers on the streets of Lagos Island sold the greenback at 516 and bought same for 513. In Egbeda, a major black market centre in Lagos, the naira was sold for 516 and bought at 510. At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, the dollar was bought on the parallel market for 516 and sold at 513.

On Wednesday, the local currency had closed at 507 against the greenback as acute dollar shortage continued to weigh on the currency market.

The local currency traded at 507/dollar on Monday and Tuesday on the black market.

Experts are divided over the outlook for the naira this year.

However, some analysts have predicted that the local currency will take further beating against the dollar this year.

The Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Limited, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, said the local currency would hit 520/dollar this year on the parallel market and touch 350/dollar at the official market.

An economic expert, Mr. Henry Boyo, has predicted that the naira will hit 1000/dollar on the parallel market this year if the Central Bank of Nigeria fails to review its monetary policy framework.

According to him, the current monetary policy framework adopted by the CBN is skewed against the naira.

Other experts including the CEO of Afrinvest, a local research and investment advisory firm, Mr. Ike Chioke, says the naira will depreciate further against the dollar this year unless the CBN reforms the currency market.

Meanwhile, analysts have predicted that the naira will face fresh pressure on the parallel market next week with dollar supply falling short of demand by persons seeking currency to pay school fees abroad as the CBN continues to ration forex for businesses.

Demand for dollars has soared even though the external reserves have reached $29bn.

The naira continues to trade flat at the official interbank window at 305.5 to the dollar.

Traders said demand pressure was mounting on the black market but dollar supply had not significantly improved, suggesting further depreciation of the local currency might be coming, Reuters reported.

The girl identified as Oyinkansola Ife, took to her Facebook handle to reveal several pictures of how a mother murdered her newborn baby shortly giving birth to him. According to her post, Ife said:

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is considering conducting mock exercise ahead of the examination.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Board disclosed the plan while fielding questions from journalists at the Information and Communication Technology Retreat organised for stakeholders on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun.

Oloyede said although  he could not guarantee a hitch-free examination, the  innovations being put in place “will send some illegal operators, who are defrauding candidates in the past, out of business.’’

He said the board would not be deterred in its mission to serve its candidates better this year.

“Frankly, I cannot promise a hitch-free examination because we are testing certain things.

“We are changing certain things; we want to question the statuesquo  and we expect a fight back by interests that will be trampled upon,’’ the registrar said.

He explained that the board would be as sincere as possible.
“We are going to be as flexible as humanly possible; we are not promising hitch free examination,’’ he said.

Oloyede noted that the board had envisaged that there would be hitches, but that  these  would not be insurmountable.

According to him, rather than promising hitch-free examination, the board promises a direction that all will be pleased with.

He said that the major objective of the retreat was for stakeholders to critique the board’s processes, “because we will not want to continue in the wrong direction’’.

Oloyede said the board was planning to create new ICT facilities and  stakeholders  such as  prospective candidates, scholars, institutions and civil society groups  were brought  together to critique it.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed while speaking at the inauguration of Human Rights Radio in Abuja disclosed that a whistle blower turned down commission from recovered N1 billion loot.  He said


I want to put on record that the fellow through whom we recovered N1 billion, in an account, told us he does not want any commission from government because that was his contribution to the country.

Though this person turned down the compensation, the ministered reassured the public that appropriate commision will be paid to anyone who provides information leading to recovery of money through the whistle blowing policy. 

Furthermore, he stated that the government is ready to implement measures aimed at halting difficult times in Naija. He added

 “The greatest assaults to our collective human rights are those people who have stolen our money. They are those people who have pocketed the money meant for roads, water, power and medical care. Those are the people who have assaulted our collective human rights, who have reduced the average Nigerians to nothingness and humiliated this country.

“The whistle-blowing policy is a very simple policy through which we encourage Nigerians who have any information about the violation of our rights, commission of a crime, fraud or corruption or any Nigerian who knows where certain money is being held or kept to anonymously contact us. We will protect his or her identity and if the information leads to the recovery of money, he or she will be entitled to 2.5 per cent or 5 per cent of the money recovered.

“We have three channels of passing the information which could be through dedicated SMS, a portal and an e-mail address and all of them are secured,’’ he said.

So far, the minister claims $160 million and N8 billion have recovered since the whistle blowers policy was announced two months ago. The $9.7 million and £72,000 stashed in Sabon Tasha by former NNPC boss, Andrew Yakubu he said were recovered through this policy

“Somebody gave us the information; we went there and saw the money loaded in fridges and boxes and the owner has admitted that the money belong to him.

“He said the money was given to him by friends after he retired and we want those friends to come forward,’’ said Mohammed.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday spoke with his United States of America’s counterpart, Donald Trump, on telephone, with the two leaders discussing ways to improve collaboration in the fight against terrorism.

The Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Mr. Femi Adesina, in a statement said Trump also invited Buhari to Washington “at a mutually convenient date”.

He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari this afternoon from London spoke to President Donald Trump on telephone at the request of the American President.

“The conversation was cordial and President Buhari congratulated Trump on his election as President of the United States, and on his cabinet.

“The two leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation in the fight against terrorism through provision of necessary equipment.

“President Trump encouraged President Buhari to keep up the good work he is doing, and also commended him for the efforts made in rescuing 24 of the Chibok Girls and the strides being taken by the Nigerian military.

“President Trump assured the Nigerian President of US readiness to cut a new deal in helping Nigeria in terms of military weapons to combat terrorism.

“President Trump also invited President Buhari to Washington at a mutually convenient date.”

Former Leicester City player Tony Cottee believes if the Foxes want to avoid relegation, they’ll have to drop Mahrez and Vardy.

The defending champions are one point and one spot above of relegation. Mahrez and Vardy are not putting up the same performance they did last season. The pair scored 32 goals between them at this stage to help Leicester win the trophy last season, but they have eight goals between them now.

Cottee believes it’s time to leave the pair out of the starting XI.

“Ranieri should be loyal to his players for what they did last season, but there comes a point where you have to look at how those players are performing,” said Cottee, speaking on Premier League Daily.

“Mahrez has been well off the pace this season, nowhere near the player he was last season.

“Vardy has not been the same player either. There’s a slight argument that the service has not been as good, which is true to a degree, but neither player on form is worthy of retaining their place.

“Ranieri has to look at all options and he needs to look tactically. Traditionally it’s 4-4-2 for Leicester, but can he play a different system? Does he need to play three centre halves? They’ve tried it a bit this season.

“You look at Islam Slimani, Shinji Okazaki, are they better players than Mahrez and Vardy? Probably not, but they’ve got to try it.”

A newlywed couple was arrested for celebrating the recent marriage by using a dog to spice things up.

The couple from Pennsylvania, was arrested after recording s*x acts with the dog.

Police arrested 19-year-old Rachael Alexis Harris and her new husband, Corey Dean Harris, 23, of Curwensville.

The charges came after the man’s sister found the couple’s camera, which had the videos of Rachael engaging in bestiality.

The woman took her brother’s camera, containing animal s*x videos to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) office.

SPCA officials alerted authorities, who then obtained a search warrant to review the contents of the Canon PowerShot camera.

According to the court document, detectives found four videos, showing Rachael Harris being s*xually active with her dog, while her husband recorded the acts.

Both were arrested on a number of charges related to animal cruelty, obscenity and producing videos of bestiality.
