Gbagbe Oshi singer, Davido, has been involved in so many controversies that people have lost count of them.

However, many would still remember that sometime in 2015, it was reported that the self-acclaimed Omo Baba Olowo joined muscles with his driver to ruthlessly beat up his fellow artiste, MC Galaxy, at his house in Lekki.

Even though Davido later came out to say it was his boys and not him that beat up Galaxy, the Komolop Cholop crooner has never spoken about the episode.

 But in a recent chat with Sunday Scoop, the comedian and singer laid his mind bare. He said,

“Davido is my boy and I cannot fight him. We are friends and friends have issues once in a while and move on afterwards. We cannot fight each other and our relationship is still tight.”

On the Davido and Hushpuppi debacle where both parties argued about who spends the most money in clubs, Galaxy said,

 “Spending in clubs depends on my mood. I spend a lot of money without noise. I’m more of a businessman and I have a lot of ventures that I’m involved in but it’s private. It’s not everything you put out on social media.”

“I have interests in acting but I’m taking my time and I’m focusing on my music for now. But by the grace of God, I will be able to do something in movies soon. I’m seriously working on my album right now and it would be released in a few months. I’m thinking of 10 tracks and the name of the album is MMM which means Money Making Machine. I will be working mostly with international acts and some African artistes,” he said.

In a recent chat with PUNCH, the Gongo Aso singer said as long he’s still doing music, the dream of winning a Grammy award remains alive.

“I am still working on bringing the Grammy to Nigeria. Abraham Lincoln tried several times before he became the president of the US while Buhari tried about four times before he became president.” 
As long as I am still doing music, I can still get the Grammy" he said.

The singer also said he maintains a cordial relationship with his former Coded Tunes label mates, Olamide and Reminisce.

“There is no issue between myself, Olamide and Reminisce. The reason I was not at one of Olamide’s concerts was because I was not in the country and that was the same reason I missed Reminisce album listening party.

“It is just that our schedules are tighter now. I was on Olamide’s first album and he was on my last album. I have so many songs with Olamide that are yet to be released. I also feature in about four songs with Reminisce that have not yet been released. I am on his recent album. “It is just that I have a busy schedule now.”

The human palms may never cease to amaze, especially because of the lines that crisscross them.

Evolutionary biologists say the lines in the palms of our hands are formed in the womb around 12 weeks of pregnancy, and are present on a baby’s hands when born.

However, many people believe that an individual’s life history—from birth to whenever—can be revealed when the palm is read by a palmist.

There is no science that supports the claim though.

Scientifically speaking, experts say, the lines on a palm, otherwise known as palmar flexion creases, help the hand’s skin to stretch and squeeze.

They can also help identify certain medical conditions, scientists say.

The lines — or, if you will — creases in our hands, enables us to flex our hands easily, with the creases folding in, allowing us to be more dexterous and both hold and grab on to objects.

When you clench your hand, palm lines provide an avenue for the hand’s skin to fold without bunching up and making it difficult to grab onto items.

That may also be why there are strong creases where the bones in the fingers and thumb meet, scientists say.

The thickness and number of creases on your palms also depend on factors such as family history and race.

Most people are born with three main creases on their palm, although the thickness, frequency and prominence depends on our genes.

There are rare cases when a person is born with just the one dominant crease running along the top of their palm, rather than three.

This affects one in 30 people is called a “singular palmar increase.”

While, normally, it isn’t symptomatic of any health conditions, it sometimes is indicative of Down’s syndrome, foetal alcohol syndrome, Turner syndrome, Aarskog syndrome and Rubella syndrome.

(ZURICH) — Lionel Messi has been banned from Argentina's next four World Cup qualifiers, starting with Tuesday's game in Bolivia.

FIFA says Messi was banned for verbally abusing an assistant referee during a home qualifier against Chile on Thursday.

FIFA intervened when the incident was not initially reported by the Brazilian referee after Argentina's 1-0 win at Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.

It was judged a red-card offense for Messi, who scored the only goal from a first-half penalty.

Television pictures showed Messi reacting angrily late in the game when the assistant flagged him for a foul. He waved his arms and shouted profane insults at the Brazilian official.

After the game, Messi refused to shake hands with the assistant who had annoyed him.

Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an Anton Piller order, directing the seizure of a film titled “Okafor’s Law” directed by Nollywood Producer, Omoni Oboli.

The court also issued an interim order, suspending the release and launch of the film, in any movie theatre or cinema house onMarch 31, pending the determination of a motion on notice before the court.

The judge ordered the seizure of all copies, materials, projections or infringing materials, relating to the subject matter.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the orders followed an ex parte application filed by a company, Rancoteur Productions Ltd, on behalf of a Canada based script writer, Jude Idada.
Idada lays claim to the film “Okafor’s Law” as his intellectual property.

The plaintiff had filed the suit through Anthony Idigbe, seeking an order, halting the premiere and release of the said “Okafor’s Law”, pending the determination of a copyright infringement suit filed against Oboli.

Joined as first to third defendants in the suit are: Dioni Visions Entertainment, Omoni Oboli, and The Filmore Ltd.

The plaintiff, in its exparte application, had sought an order, restraining the premiere or release of the said film, as well as an anton piller order, seizing all copies of the infringing material.

The exparte application was moved in terms by counsel from the law firm of Idigbe, O. Otudor, who urged the court to grant the orders as prayed.

Delivering his ruling on the exparte motion, Justice Buba granted the orders as prayed.

The court made the following orders:

“An order of interim injunction, restraining the first to third defendants, whether by themselves or their privies, from premiering the feature film “Okafor’s Law”, in Lagos or any part of Nigeria, pending the hearing of the motion on notice.

“An order of interim injunction, restraining the defendant from releasing the featured film in any movie theatre or Cinema house on March 31, pending the hearing of the motion on notice.

“An order of interim injunction, restraining the defendants from
distributing the featured film, pending the determination of the motion on notice.

“An Anton piller order is granted to the plaintiff, to enter into the defendant’s premises, Cinema, Studio and other places of dissemination, to seize all copies of infringing materials relating to subject matter.

“An order, directing the defendants to deliver and surrender to the plaintiff’s solicitors, all products and packages with the inscription, “Okafor’s Law” and volume of transaction or trade which have been done by defendants.

“An order directing the defendants to permit the court’s bailiff, and such other persons not exceeding four (4), to enter the premises on any working day of Monday to Saturday at 8am to 8pm, to remove all products or packages with the name “Okafor’s Law”

“An order for a search to be conducted at Viva Heights Odudu Eleyiwo St, Block 15, plot 17 Oniru Victoria Island, and Plot 1378D Joseph Namah close, off Karimu Kotun St, Victoria Island and all other places where Okafor’s Law is stored and sold

“An order declaring that a failure of defendants to comply with the court’s order, will put the plaintiff at liberty to apply for committal to prison of such person,”

The court thereafter, fixed March 29 for hearing of the motion on notice.

NAN reports that the movie “Okafor’s Law” is billed for release on March 31,

The court’s order was, however, served on the defendants on the evening of March 24 shortly before the movie’s premiere.atthe IMAX Cinema in Lagos.

The order consequently, clogged the premiering of the debut movie.

Jude Idada had accused Oboli of copyright infringement on the “Okafor’s Law” movie, adding that she had stolen his story idea for the movie in September 2016.

He alleged that Oboli took the work he had done regarding “Okafor’s Law”, and developed it without giving him due credit.

He avers that the producer, however, went ahead to set March 31, as a release date for the movie, in spite of a demand letter sent to her, as well as a copyright infringement suit instituted.

NAN reports that “Okafor’s Law” stars: Richard Mofe Damijo, Toyin Aimakhu, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Ken Erics, Yvonne Jegede, Halima Abubakar, Gabriel Afolayan, Funke Bucknor among other Nollywood actors and actresses.

Oboli is a popular Nollywood Producer, actress, Director and script writer.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has appeared before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to defend himself on his alleged ownership of an SUV seized by the Customs.

I didn’t import any Range Rover – Saraki. The Senate President has told the panel that he did not import any Range Rover SUV.

“I am not an importer,” he said.

He added, “As the President of the 8th Senate and Senator from Kwara Central, I am proud of the Senate as an institution and its Constitutional role to represent the interests of the Nigerian people.

“Further, I am proud to honour the Senate Rule Book that guides our conduct and activities, which is why today I am presenting myself to the Committee today.

“I am here in person because I believe that what you are doing will help strengthen this institution.

“The institution must continue to be strengthened to carry out its mandate, rather than strengthening individuals.

“We must find ways to guard the institution and ourselves against those who wish to tarnish the institution and individual’s reputation because of 5 minutes of fame – they try to bring anyone else down.”

When asked if he had imported the SUV that is the subject of the investigation, the Senate President said, “I did not import any vehicle. I did not ask anybody to import any vehicle on my behalf.”

Speaking on the Customs Import Duty policy, he said, “We raised the issue on the Customs policy based on the interest if Nigerians. But those who want to fight the Senate for raising the issue of retroactive duty. Urge committee to protect the institution of the Senate so that it is not ridiculed.”

Tanzania’s President John Magufuli has sacked the country’s information minister, the first cabinet change since taking office in late 2015.

Magufuli, nicknamed “the Bulldozer” for his strict leadership style, launched a reform drive soon after he was elected by dismissing dozens of senior public officials over allegations of corruption and inefficiency.

The president removed Nape Nnauye as the country’s Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports just days after the minister ordered a probe into an alleged raid on a private television station by a senior government official on March 17.

Harrison Mwakyembe was appointed information minister while Palamagamba Kabudi was named justice and constitutional affairs minister, the portfolio previously held by Mwakyembe.

No reason was given for the cabinet changes, but some analysts said there were reports of friction among some government officials over Magufuli’s strict leadership style.

On Thursday, police officers prevented Nnauye from holding a planned press conference at a Dar es Salaam hotel after his sacking.

“I don’t expect to see any major rift that could affect the performance of the government as a result of conflicts between some government officials,” Benson Bans, a Dar es Salaam-based political analyst told Reuters.

“Recent opinion polls give Magufuli an approval rating of over 80 per cent so he is still very popular among Tanzanians and has a mandate to push through his reforms.”

Authorities in Peru seized 1.4 kilograms of cocaine that had Barcelona forward Lionel Messi's face on the packaging, reports Agence France-Presse.

The haul, worth a reported $91 million (73 million), had Messi's logo, his name and also had the royal seal of the King of Spain on the packaging. It was reportedly found inside of 1,200 giant squid fillets.

There have been no arrests and police say that the packages arrived from the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers Valley region in Peru and were destined for Europe.

According to reports, the seizure in the second largest in Peru this year.

Oddly enough, it's not the first time Messi's branding has been used for cocaine seized in a drug bust.

In September 2015, the New York Post reported that authorities arrested two men in the Bronx and seized $3million in cocaine, some of which was stamped with the word "Messi" on the bricks.

The five-time ballon d’Or winner pockets around £20million-a-year through endorsements, however, there can be little doubt that these perps didn’t plan on paying for ‘image rights’ before going ahead with the deal.

Member of the Senate representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, has dragged an online news portal, Sahara Reporters, before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting at Maitama.

Melaye is suing Sahara Reporters for defamation and demanding N5bn as aggravate and exemplary damages for libel.

The senator through his lawyer, Mr Mark Ikongbeh, Senator Melaye, insisted that Sahara Reporters’ claim that he did not graduate from Ahmadu Bello University has exposed him to great psychological stress and emotional trauma.

In the suit marked M/4812/17, the Incorporated Trustees of Sahara Reporters Media Foundation, Omoyele Sowore, Temitope Olumuyide and Sahara Reporters Media Group Inc. were cited as 1st to 4th defendants.

Melaye also applied for an injunction restraining the defendants, by themselves or by their servants or agents, from making further publications on the issue.

He is equally seeking N10m as cost of the legal action.

Melaye said he would tender proof he indeed bagged a B. Sc in Geography from the University during the hearing of his suit.

The World Bank Group says Nigeria will soon recover from economic recession.

Mrs Eme Essien-Lore, Country Manager, International Finance Corporation, a member of the group, made the observation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Thursday.

”In our perspective and with the numbers that we have seen coming from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Nigeria’s economy has recorded about one per cent real growth.

”That is a bit lower than government’s expectation which is about 2.2 per cent growth for 2017.

“It is a bit modest, but we certainly expect that the economy of Nigeria will rebound and recover from last year’s recession, ” she said.

Essien-Lore commended Federal Government`s new economic plan, but said  that there was need to set priorities for implementation of the plan by the year 2020.

According to her, the plan is very comprehensive, ambitious and thoughtful.

She said that the World Bank had been consulting with the Nigerian Government on the plan, saying that the bank was happy that the plan had been published.

”Now we can sit down and look at it to see how we will align our objectives around what the government wants to do.

Essien-Lore said that the plan was an opportunity to look at the priorities and what the World Bank could do for the Nigerian government as ‘it comes up with its development agenda’.

”The plan is for 2017 to 2020, it is a relatively short period, but we need to know what the priorities are and collectively work with government on how to achieve them, ” she said.

On the high rate of unemployment in the country, Essien-Lore urged the Nigerian government to partner with the private sector to create more quality jobs to reduce poverty and prevent social unrest.

She said that Nigeria was growing very fast and would soon become the third largest country globally, after India and China.

The Senate has asked the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.), to come back on Wednesday in uniform.

The lawmakers said as the chief executive of the security outfit, Ali should lead by example.

The Customs boss had appeared before the Senate on Thursday, after he failed to show up on Wednesday as initially scheduled. He also came in mufti despite the insistence of the lawmakers that he should appear before it in uniform.

His failure to show up had angered the lawmakers, and they compelled him to appear today (Thursday).

When asked by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu why he failed to appear before the lawmakers in uniform as requested, Ali said the Senate did not state in its last letter to him that he should appear in uniform.

Ekweremadu, however, said the last letter only served as a reminder of the first letter to him, in which he was asked to come in uniform.

A popular Islamic lecturer, author and speaker, Sheikh Hussaini Yusuf Mabera, has threatened to take renowned Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua to court. According to a fiery Facebook post on 13th March 2017, the pastor’s crime lies in the fact that he regularly describes Jesus Christ as God.

“I am filing a case to the Federal High Court of Nigeria against Pastor T.B. Joshua and co-pastors for speaking a lie against Jesus Christ by calling him God,” Sheikh Mabera began in a Facebook post which soon went viral.

Admitting that he regularly watched Joshua’s popular television channel Emmanuel TV, the Nigerian Islamist continued.

“I was completely aghast when I heard the ‘so-called’ Prophet T.B. Joshua of Emmanuel TV calling Jesus God in the presence of thousands of his audience, among whom were professors, doctors, reverend fathers and mothers, pastors and bishops.”

He added that, from his own research, the Bible itself is replete with evidence contradicting the deification of Jesus Christ. Sheikh Mabera, who has a school where he trains other Muslims in the art of defending their faith, continued by concluding T.B. Joshua and his ilk lack “proper understanding” of Scriptural truths.

“As I was watching T.B. Joshua speaking through Emmanuel TV and his audience helplessly watching and listening to his accumulated lies and unfounded praise-singing directed at Jesus, I almost cried with automatic alacrity when he said that Jesus is Almighty God. My conclusion was that both TB Joshua and other Christians actually read their Bible without proper understanding of what they are reading.”

The fiery Islamic advocate then quoted several Scriptures to support his claims that Jesus Christ was a “servant of God”, not God Himself.

“There are millions of facts from the Scriptures and other rational facts that authentically proved that Jesus does not have even the least qualification of being God,” he opined.

Mabera ended his post by declaring Joshua was “deceiving and misguiding” his “innocent followers” with “preposterous lies”.
“Let us meet in the court of law and debate it out. Enough is Enough,” the statement on Facebook ended.

According to information available online, Yusuf Mabera has debated several Christian clerics on various topics, regularly traversing the shores of Nigeria with his message.

The House of Representatives moved on Wednesday to strengthen the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to fight corruption by proposing fresh amendments to the EFCC Act, 2004.

Among others, lawmakers want to insulate the anti-graft agency from the influence of the Presidency, enhance its financial autonomy, prescribe tougher penalties for stealing public money and create a special court for speedy trial of cases.

Four consolidated bills seeking to further empower the commission, passed second reading at a session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, in Abuja.

The bills were co-sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Financial Crimes, Mr. Kayode Oladele; Mr. Bassey Ewa; Mr. Oladipupo Olatunde; and Mr. Bede Ucehenna-Eke.

One of the key amendments seeks to remove the power of appointing the chairman of the EFCC from the President, to be vested directly in the hands of Nigerians.

Under the extant provisions, the President appoints the chairman and forwards the name to the Senate for approval.

But, in the new proposal, which the House described as “more stringent” in appointing or removing the chairman, members of the public are to appoint the commission’s chairman.

Leading the debate on the proposal, Ewa explained, “This amendment will open up the EFCC so that the President will not be the sole person to either remove or appoint the chairman.

“In this new proposal, it will require a petition from the public to the National Assembly for a resolution.

“This resolution, when passed, will be forwarded to the President. Mr. President shall within one month, either accept the resolution or reject it.

“The National Assembly reserves the power to override his veto of the resolution.”

Ewa noted that this was to guard against the current practice whereby the President would want the chairman to be removed if he was not comfortable with the officer.

Chocolate City President, Audu Maikori has been re-arrested barely 22 days after his first arrest on February 17, 2017 on charges relating to comments he made about the Southern Kaduna killings.

The re-arrest comes two days after he collapsed at an event in Lagos and was subsequently rushed to St. Nicholas hospital. Details of his re-arrest remains sketchy but those close to him say he’s been whisked off to Kaduna State.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who returned to Nigeria on Friday after medical leave, said he will leave his deputy in charge for the time being and not immediately resume power.

The 74-year-old said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo “will continue” in the role of acting-president “and I will continue to rest”. No timeline was given for how long Osinbajo would be in charge.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has said his administration’s effort to reconstruct the International Airport Road from Oshodi is being frustrated by the Federal Ministry of Works.

Ambode spoke at the Lagos House, Ikeja, on Monday, after carrying out an extensive inspection of some critical projects in the state, noting that the present state of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road was a national disgrace and required immediate attention.

He said, “The road linking Oshodi to the International Airport is a national embarrassment. In the spirit of the regeneration and urbanisation that this administration has set out to achieve, we believe that the road must be repaired.

“We took it upon ourselves that the House of Assembly should approve the total reconstruction of the Airport Road from Oshodi to the International Airport in the 2017 budget. Every plan has been completed, but we are having challenges with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.”

Ambode also expressed frustration that six months after President Muhammadu Buhari approved the handing over of the Presidential Lodge in Marina, the state government had yet to gain access into the premises.

“We plan that by May 27, 2017, we should be able to invite Mr. President and other people to that Presidential Lodge for the final banquet and dinner to mark Lagos@50.

“As we speak,  we have yet to gain entrance into that place and this is frustrating our programme. The approval of Mr. President should be honoured and the agencies concerned – the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and the security services – should honour the promise made by Mr. President.”

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her failed marriage to her husband Oladunni Churchill in an interview with TV personality Azuka Ogujiuba.

“The domestic violence is real. How I lived to suffer it and go through it over and over again, I do not understand. Alot of people have blamed me. A lot of people have said a lot of things. I stayed back in my marriage, not because of my child, but because I loved my husband with all of my heart. I stayed because he begged me to stay a couple of times. Ten-man Arsenal were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the seventh successive season following a second-half capitulation against Bayern Munich.

A debated decision in the 53rd minute shattered any hopes of the Gunners becoming the first side in Champions League history to overturn a four-goal deficit.
