So, I received the greatest shock of my life concerning the doe that gave birth last month. I had kept it with the buck in the chicken cage, which I had demarcated. Unfortunately, they somehow chewed through the wooden partition. When the doe gave birth last month, it was a total surprise to me. I had actually placed it in a separate small space for delivery on two occasions before, but nothing happened then. You can only imagine how astonished I was when it finally birthed seven kits though sadly, only two survived.
Immediately after discovering the litter, I moved the doe to the small space I normally use for nursing. When the kits clocked three weeks, I returned them all back to the main cage.
Then, on Sunday, I woke up early to the sound of noise from the cage. I couldn’t rush out immediately, but I prayed silently that all would be well. Later that morning, I noticed fur scattered around the cage. I quickly grabbed the doe and placed it back in the small nursing space. To my amazement, when I returned from church, I found out it had given birth to another litter five kits in total. This was just 32 days after the first birth!
I was happy that my rabbit business seemed to be growing, but at the same time, I felt pity for the doe. I realized that the buck must have mated with her right after delivery, which may also explain why she refused to properly feed her first litter. Truly, I am learning every day, and I intend to do right by them. May God help me.
I intend to keep this as an open diary where people can share suggestions and watch me grow in the rabbit-rearing business. Please, no insults, only constructive advice that will help me improve.
Attached are pictures of the survivors from the first litter and the new kits.

Gbadugbakun: I bought mine for 1k. It came with a gun which I used in playing duck hunt.
There were inbuilt games there like 1,500 games in 1. But most of them were repetitions. Mine had Olympics, Super Mario, car race, excite bike, duck hunt, soccer, wrestling and many more. The gun... We had this uncle then that didn't want us to to shoot at all. His reason being that the television will get spoilt but dad told us to go ahead because he was the one that bought the game console for us. Good old days. |

Tochex101: Read previous rabbit rearing threads on nairaland and you will learn a lot.
I also remember reading rabbits don't tend to their young. If you are to be profitable, then please be inventive and proactive. Thank you for this response. I will do that. |

Those two are gone. I am rooting for the four left. I am not discouraged neither am I giving up. I have been the forcing them on the mother to feed.
I remember a time when a mama rabbit died after two weeks of birthing the little ones, I had to feed them on milk and they survived. At another time, I never knew one had given birth until I heard the sound they made underneath the clothes their slept on with tiny threads on their necks and tiny furs on their bodies.
I am rest assured they'd survive. |

It's so painful that one of the baby rabbits died. I am left with six of them. I think their mother is shying away from her responsibility of feeding them. I had to put them directly to her breast yesterday. About two of them look so frail. I just checked on them and discovered she had pulled out more fur. I want to assume she is trying hard to do right by them now. The mother is a first time mum. |

For years, I’ve been thinking about the right business to venture into. Many options came my way, but I couldn’t decide on any.
In 2021, someone gifted me two rabbits to start with, but as usual, I didn’t take it seriously. I later discovered they were both males. Determined to try again, I got a female, and the process began. Unfortunately, due to my lack of proper care, I lost two mature females and about ten baby rabbits. I eventually killed and ate the remaining mature ones.
Now, things are different. I’m more focused and ready to fully go into rabbit rearing. Recently, I started again with one female and two males. Although it took some time for the female to get pregnant, she finally did, and now I have my very first litter just 48 hours old! So, help me God.
Follow me on this journey and see what it will become in the next one year.
If you are a rabbit farmer, your advice and input will be of great importance to me. Thank you in advance.

voucher: Good morning everyone, congratulations to the mamas that have put to bed.. I met with my doctor on Wednesday and he said he won’t want us to get to 38 weeks before he carries out the Csection (this will be my 3rd) So i told a friend and she discouraged me, saying the baby might develop issues if she comes at 37 weeks.. I’m now confused o cos even google advises 38 39 Mine was carried out at 37w5d and baby is fine. Your baby will be fine. |

Omobola121: God be praised!!! My princess made her grand entry yesterday night.
Labour wasn't long ( just 30minutes of labour) I didn't even know it was time because Edd says 27-29th of sep.
I started having waist pain around 8pm, then few minutes later, I saw mucus plug. We got to the hospital around 8:30pm and I gave birth exactly 9pm.
Only God can run this matter smoothly. I pray for other mothers too, you will deliver safely.
For mothers expecting, receive the gifts double double in Jesus Name.
Officially 11/09/2022 Congratulations! May God bless you and your princess. |
