National Coordinator, Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Taraba, Mr. Edward Ogenyi on Tuesday said that about 110,849 people are living with the virus in the State.

Ogenyi said this at the commencement of a five-day ‘Demand Generation Activities for HIV and AIDS Service Uptake’ in Jalingo the State capital.

According to Ogenyi, the activities marked the first phase of implementation of the President’s Comprehensive Response Plan for HIV and AIDS, funded by NACA/SURE-P HIV/AIDS Programme, launched in July, 2013.

A 14-seater Toyota Hiace bus with number plate, Anambra ZBL 903XA, yesterday crushed one motorcyclist at Agbor, along Asaba-Benin expressway in Delta State.

The deceased, simply identified as Lucky, was killed at about 8:30am by the bus heading to Lagos from Awka, Anambra State, while the motorcyclist was trying to a make U-turn.

An eyewitness who spoke to the us, said: “The deceased was making a U-turn because Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, were at work before he was crushed by the bus that was on high speed.”

Senator Dino Melaye has condemned the proposed N8.64 billion wardrobe allowance to be received by lawmakers in the 8th National Assembly.

Melaye, who represents the Kogi West Senatorial District, also said that the country’s lawmakers must be ready to accept a pay cut due to the situation in the country.

The Senator made the comments on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, while speaking during a programme on Africa Independent Television (AIT).

“I stand solidly on what I earlier said about pay cut. There must be a pay cut to Senators and House of Representative members,” Melaye said.

“You can’t be talking about change and this kind of money in this country now when people are hungry. We must be sacrificious. We must show Nigerians that we must sacrifice by allowing a pay cut,” he added.

The proposed allowance has caused controversy in the country with many criticizing the Senators for being insensitive to the plight of the average Nigerian.

Melaye and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce were especially criticized due to earlier anti-extravagance statements credited to them.

A passenger, Mr. Ovuironye Mathew Dennis, travelling onboard a 6.45am Aero flight on Monday was caught while stealing about N350, 000 from a luggage belonging to an Austrian, Novotny Anton, another passenger on the flight.

Dennis, 31 with 1.65 height as captured in his temporary driver’s licence and seating on flight seat No. 23C was spotted by a member of the airline’s cabin crew when he removed the Austrian’s bag from the cockpit as if he was changing his seat.

Someone who was on onboard the flight, said the suspect was also caught with a wrap of marijuana.

The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday rescued nine pregnant girls and women during a raid on a baby factory at the 9th Mile area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed that the baby factory was owned and operated by one Ikechukwu Onoh of Etiti, Amakwo-Ngwo Village, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu.

Onoh and the ladies were taken into police custody after the raid.

According to Amaraizu, the factory was run in Onoh’s private residence.
