American rap sensation, Cardi B, has just hit the number one spot on Billboard Hot 100 with her hit single, Bodak Yellow, becoming the first female rapper to have a number 1 record with no features since Lauryn Hill 19 years ago.

Post Malone’s “Rockstar,” featuring 21 Savage, roars in at No. 2 on the Hot 100, and at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts, and Portugal. The Man earns its first Hot 100 top 10, as “Feel It Still” pushes 14-10.



“Bodak,” released on The KSR Group/Atlantic Records, makes Cardi B (born Belcalis Almanzar, in the Bronx, New York) just the second female rapper to top the Hot 100 without any other billed artists, following Lauryn Hill’s first solo Hot 100 entry (apart from the Fugees), “Doo Wop (That Thing),” for two weeks beginning with its Nov. 14, 1998, debut at No. 1.

Cardi B is only the fifth female rapper ever to lead the Hot 100 at all. After Hill, Lil’ Kim ruled for five weeks in 2001 with Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk on “Lady Marmalade”; Shawnna reigned as featured on Ludacris’ “Stand Up,” which topped the Dec. 6, 2003, chart; and Iggy Azalea’s introductory Hot 100 hit, “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX, led for seven weeks in 2014.

Cardi B is also the first female soloist to top the Hot 100 with a debut track unaccompanied by another artist since Meghan Trainor, whose “All About That Bass” led for eight weeks beginning Sept. 20, 2014.

Roc Nation Afrobeats artiste, Young Paris has faulted Mr Eazi’s inability to differentiate between Afrobeat and Afrobeats. The American based musician in a brief Instagram post said Mr Eazi was ‘wilding’ and saying a lot of shit.



Young Paris who has worked with Mavin Records artistes Tiwa Savage and Reekado Banks claims there is a difference between Afrobeat and Afrobeats and that difference is very important for the culture.

He said Afrobeat should only be referred to as music made by the genre pioneer Fela, which still remains as his legacy. While Afrobeats is any music done by any contemporary African artistes, which has sub-genres like, Afro-house, Afropop, Afrofusion, Afrotrap etc.

A prominent member of international pop group, Cold Play was grooving to one of the songs off Tiwa Savage’s recently released Sugarcane EP. In a video posted by Tiwa Savage on social media, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the group, Chris Martin can be seen dancing to the track titled, Ma Lo which features Wizkid and Spellz Jammin. Selena Gomez revealed that she spent the summer recovering from a kidney transplant in a post on her Instagram. Gomez needed the transplant due to her lupus diagnosis, which she announced in 2015.

“It was what I needed to do for my overall health,” Gomez said. “I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you.”

The post featured a picture of Gomez and donor, Francia Raisa, holding hands and smiling in hospital beds. Raisa, a longtime friend of Gomez’s, is a 29-year-old actress best known for the ABC Family show The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Ghanaian artistes Vision DJ and A.I went on Twitter last night to call out Nigerian reggae/dancehall star Burna Boy on his new single “Chilling Chillin” which he released as a “re-up” of their 2016 release “Grind“.
Burna credited A.I with a feature on the song as well as using A.I’s hook on his own version.
