@Proudly

I also think Myles is talking gobbledook, according to coogar's diagram, there has consistently been about a 20m - 30m differential in the wage bill between Arsenal and Manure, if yu look closely at the graph, yu'll see it started right about 2006/07 (shortly after the move to the emirates), stayed steady between 08/09 and actually seems to be increasing again through 2010 (the 2011 figures I believe will show even a larger difference) and has stayed same since indicating a clear shift in priorities. Where I disagree with cougar is in his assumption that 20m - 30m is a small amount of money, considering that at a time Arshavin was our highest earner at 8m per annum (from the 2010 forbes list of highest paid footballers), that amount would have effectively given us about 3 - 4 more Arshavin class players on the wage bill so that in footballing terms can in no way be considered little. One thing I've omitted though is the amount in tranfer fees it would cost to bring in such players.

With the change in priorities as well came a change in the wage bill structure, it was also important to secure the value of those players that were seen to have potential and being developed from within in order to avoid losing them (a lesson learnt with the Flamini experience), if yu've noticed, once a player gets into the first team frame, he gets a long term contract (Wilshere and Ramsey were recently contracted till 2016 and that is the reason Vela, Denilson, Bendtner are all contracted till 2014).

Now, I won't get into an argument about the amounts we are paying these budding players relative to other clubs, at present our modus operandi is not exactly like any other club in the PL hence the hate we have to live with from all quarters but all I'll say is that the board and Arsene aint idiots and the books are balanced anyway so I don't consider it anything worth raising dust over. What you need to keep in mind is that the alternative to securing the future of those players are the huge transfer fees we aren't paying when those players deliver on the initial promise they showed.
A good way to look at it is to imagine how much we would need to pay to buy a player of Ramsey/Wilshere's class in 2 - 3 years time or even now considering how much 'pool got Henderson for.  I agree it won't work for all players but then is there anything with exactly 100% certainty in this life? and mind you, as bad as they are now considered to be, Bendner and Denilson have delievered a top 4 finish year on year so they are not exactly as bad as they are being painted and IMO are worth the 40k - 60k per annum or so that they are reputed to be earning.

So how come no club has signed them yet if they are as gud as you claimed.

Debosky should mark my scripts abeg.

Many of Kos's tackles that got punished for were clearly harsh calls.  His second yellow card against Liverpool in the opening game of last season was harsh and so was the booking that gave Newcastle that second penalty that game that ended 4-4.
Kos may be skinnier than Dayokanu, but I have never seen him loose as a result of been overpowered. For me, I cant ask anything else from the guy. Clearly, you see a determination of a hardworker in him and that what every player must have

I laugh in Diouf, Was it against blackburn when Diouf shoved him aside and squared the ball for sum1 to tap in last season.

Next time you want to make such comparisons, use proper parallels that won't involve backtracking at a later time, like comparing JET to Jay Boothroyd, not one of the top 10 strikers in the Spanish league.

With your outrageous claims that JET is a better striker than Theo (a most outrageous and patently ridiculous claim when JET never scored as many as Theo did, even when Theo was younger at Southampton) there is little room for any other interpretation.

Before this belated backtracking clarification, you implied that JET, like Rossi, was a very talented player lacking in opportunity hence he left to develop elsewhere. Forgetting that this same Rossi had gone to Italy and scored almost a goal in two games in the top division.

The reverse is clearly the case - JET is simply not good enough, while Rossi was good enough that he cost Villareal more than 5 times JET's price, even considering that transfer was ages ago.

If such ridiculous comparisons are allowed, the next thing we'll hear is that Ronaldo leaving Utd is like Hleb leaving Arsenal, afterall they both went to Spain. undecided

Arsene has said he is working on getting a defender. Il assume its a CB since he previously said he wants to give Gibbs a chance this season.

As for DM position, I believe we can sort that in house. Coquelin had a good season in the French league and Kyle Bartley also played in that position in some games for Rangers. Plus, there's Frimpong.

And we want win UEFA grin iLaugh in twi.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by follypimpi(m): 5:52pm On Jul 23, 2011
The problem we have is the defensive part of the team, get a DM, CB + LB.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by follypimpi(m): 1:25pm On Jul 23, 2011
I forsee us struggling in this upcoming new season. We all know Gibbs is injury prone, he gets injured am sure traore at some point will need to be rested.

Song, Kamoru, Gervinho will be leaving for AFC, should RVP + Walcott get injured we are in big Bottom trouble.

Should diaby be injured then whoelse will play DM, IMO frimpong is not ready just yet.

Should Fabianski + Tech9 get injured we will have to field Manone, yet we want to compete for UEFA Champions league.

Am so not looking forward to us winning anything this new season.

Typical Arsene signing but is he not largely more of the same that we have?  undecided not sure he'll solve our aerial issues but should fit in well into our playing style. Would have preferred Samba as well.

Samba will sure struggle in UEFA games tho, seems the nigga can only play in EPL.
