TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by foreverblessed: 7:16am On Jan 08, 2017
Mrsijayadachi:
Hello everyone happy new year. I really love Narialand because it is informative, this is my first post by the way. I am pregnant for twins and due to deliver by may, I want to travel to America(Atlanta) by February, but I am yet to pick a hospital. I need a very affordable priced hospital in Atlanta. Please your suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks people.
Use the search button and search 'Northside Hospital Atlanta'. You'd find all the info on this hospital that you need. Check the distance between the hospital and where you'd be staying though. If you're within good distance, then the hospital comes highly recommended. All the best.

Hello forever blessed, we are doing great.
I am staying in augusta and had to go to Atlanta for the nigerian passport.
@Mamacajah, thank you very much, it was indeed very helpful and glad you are enjoying the 'joys of motherhood'.

Please, excuse my Oliver Twistness, but please how did you go about booking your American passport appointment? Also, did you have to wait for your child's SSN to arrive?

Can I please have the Eddy's number? Please how much did he charge?

@MrsDan, AMEN to being blessed forever smiley. I saw your pm alert, really don't know how to go about accessing it. In any case, the
quote from Northside is $3,550, provided you pay before delivery- I have attached the quotation they sent me.

This is just for the hospital and for normal delivery, because that's the info I requested. The price excludes any professional fees e.g OBGYN, Anesthesiologist, Pathologist, Radiologist, etc.). They are quite responsive via email, so you can contact them on price.estimates@northside.com or call on 404-851-8694

As far as Doctor, I contacted OBGYN of Atlanta and they sent be the below. But I had to send them my medical records and they stated the quote was based strictly on my week of registering with them (32weeks):

$ 934 Antepartum visits ( one post partum )
$ 58 PAP smear
$ 200 Chlamydia & Gonorrhea test
$ 125 OB profile labs
$ 62 HIV Lab
$ 60 Hepatitis C culture
$ 5 venipuncture
$ 258 Ultrasound – anatomy scan
$ 60 Group B Strep ( 36 weeks )
$ 5 venipuncture ( 36 weeks )
$ 16 Hemoglobin ( 36 weeks )

$ 1821.00 TOTAL

I am due in Dec, but traveling by next week @ 32 weeks (as strongly advised by my Doc). You can contact their Practice Manager, Kris on KRichey@awhg.org for specific enquiries on your case.

Hope all this helps. Let me know if you need any other info.

Foreverblessed...many thanks!
Can you give me an idea of the price quoted for vaginal delivery, epidural and Doctors fees etc?
When are you having your baby? You can send me a pm.

You are blessed forever![/quote]

@ajoke01, I had earlier posted the quotes I got from Northside and Piedmont hospitals, which were comparable, but I think I'm tilting towards Northside, though their Atlanta branch- Forsyth which you intend to use is their other branch, outside Atlanta.

A friend of mine who used the hospital referred me to Northpoint OB/GYN (google them) who use all Northside hospital branches for their birthing. Though I called and was told that they only accept patients up to 28 weeks and you must fax them your hospital records at 20 weeks, to prove the age of your pregnancy, before they register you. The process was seeming too long for my liking, so still on the look out for a doc. For what it's worth, they charge $2,500 for vaginal delivery and $2,800 for CS.

What week do you intend travelling? I'm trying to push it till 34 weeks max.

ajoke01: @Hollabeesy2014 and Meine. Here are the details of my interview.

So no one is planning to use Northside hospital, Atlanta mommas? cry

@Mamatukwas

Gwinnett, I hear is very good, so you are good to go...it's a bit far from where I'd be, that's why I'm not considering it. Plan to be there late Oct...not made concrete plans yet though.

@Mamatukwas and other interested in ATL, here's what I received from Northside & Piedmont.

Hope it helps you come to a decision. For me, I am still pretty much undecided. I didn't bother contacting from Southern Regional again, as I read not-too-good reviews online.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by foreverblessed: 2:43pm On Jul 22, 2014
Mamatukwas: For Southern Regional:

Here is a break down of what Southern Regional Charges for a delivery.

We are no longer taking new patients for prenatal care. Now the hospital does offer only the delivery packet (no prenatal) ..
*C-section $10,000
*Vaginal Delivery $6,500
Now there are fees that are not included with these amounts...
*Pediatrician 150.00 (which they usually give you a discount)
*Epidural - 300.00
*Anesthesiologist - 875.00
*Circumcision $300.00
extended time in the hospital would be extra too..

Hope this helps. Let me know if you eventually get info from Northside.
Thanks for the info @Mamatukwas. Would post any info I eventually get on Northside.

Hello everyone,

I have been a silent follower of this thread for a while and was fortunate enough to have read all 220 or so pages before the glitch. I would like to thank everyone that have contributed one way or the other, in making this thread a worthwhile experience. I have also been able to advise a lot of people on various aspects of traveling/birthing based on info received here; God bless you all tremendously!

I got my visa long before pregnancy but following advice received on this thread, I have written to the Embassy informing them of my intended trip for birthing- I received their standard response.

For family reasons, I am skewed towards Atlanta, otherwise, El Paso/MIHS would have been great options. From what I have read @IyaTwins84 and @tytmed both of you are considering ATL, please can you share what info you have already on hospitals? I am considering Northside Hospital and Southern Regional, based on proximity to where I would likely be staying.

I have tried calling Northside a few times, but haven't been able to speak with the right person so far (keep getting their voice mail). Has anyone had better luck in contacting any other hospitals in Atl?
