the season is going to be long. Squad depth, quality one is an important thing to have.

apart from making sure the general quality doesn't drop too much when debruyne gets injured, is fatigued or loses form (some or even all of these will happen), he's also major upgrade on sterling, nolito, and Jesus for the other wide positions.

And tbh, there is nothing to suggest that the Bernardo silva purchase isn't all part of peps plan (defensive reinforcements included)

It's not matter of signings, it's matter of getting the optimum out of the players you already have.

City is a much more dangerous team with DeBruyne in the AM position, much more than both David Silva and Bernardo Silva.

Adding another AM just means you're only getting 70% if the optimum out of all 3 of them, when getting 100% out of DeBruyne alone would suffice.

As far as I am concerned, adding Bernardo Silva does not improve them massively cos he is a type of player they already 2 of, who are even better.

Nolito himself is good depth, arguably on par with Pedro and can do a good job if not squeezed out by overcompetition. Then with Aguero taking no 9, Jesus is also a brilliant winger. So IMO they are just adding what they don't need and drawing down their budget which is fine by me.

It's like Chelsea signing all those wingers/AMs in 2012 and 2013 when they only needed two.
