. that's why I said I hope he doesn't leave... He should atleast stay a season more to help the squad enter a new phase... This is too abrupt for the club he likes
with what city are said to offer him, will he stay? If Messi indeed threatened the board them he needs to leave. It means if he doesn't like the next president, off that president goes even if Messi is the one at fault or making a mistake, his word becomes final. What board or manager would feel comfortable doing their job around him. If Messi does stay he should apologize to the board or recant whatever what said he said and show he believes in the board and not act like a god that answers to no one. Would he listen to Koeman, the same player said to have disliked the last manager. If he doesn't like koeman what happens.

I've tried to avoid responding to most of your posts but it's obvious you'll continue to wallow in what you call "sense" if nobody addresses you.

So, I'll answer you with questions on this one!!

First off, on what grounds do you have the right to compare Messi to Totti?

Was Totti a playmaker, winger, striker, dribbler, midfielder and assist maker (all, at once) in his time?

Did Totti singlehandedly win as much games as Messi did?

Did Totti suffer under the mediocrity of his fellow teammates when it mattered most or during the last years of his career?

Was Roma as established as Barcelona with someone who has tasted absolute supremacy now having to deal with crumbs?

How dare you compare Messi to Totti?
after reading your posts please you don't have to respond, you started watching football this past decade. Do please keep your thoughts inside your head.

wouldn't you like to see Messi in EPL even for just a season. I would cheesy I have always wondered how good he would be playing wolves, stokes, defensive rigid teams wanting to survive, winter games and how many goals he would score in an EPL season cheesy. It would be amazing Messi actually left Barcelona and plays in EPL in our life time grin

I'll prefer Messi to see off his contract and get a proper send off... Not this abrupt termination of contract...

If he has an iota of respect for the club, he should leave in the right way,.. not on the back of an 8-2 humiliating defeat... Iniesta,Xavi, Puyol all left honorably,... Why should his case be different?..

I still hope he doesn't leave... And if he does leave this season,it would be very humiliating to Barca(because they'll see a verysignificant drop in finances) and Messi(because it will be said he as a captain left when the whole team needed guidance)
I've never been so bothered abt transfer news like this
what you are expecting is from someone who loves their club or even their country. They don't just work out when the situation isn't right or doesn't suit them.

Imagine referring or comparing him to legends like Totti who stayed no matter what, who at times got bench but remained faithful till the end.

I honestly wouldn't blame Messi for wanting to leave the club he has played out his heart for. The board has obviously been the worst I have ever seen in recent time. The useless board obviously wasted the genius prime years by their abysmal signings and lackadaisical attitude.

I personally wish and hope the President and his board vacates the seat of power while Messi stays to help groom the team while the club starts planning for a life after the football god as he is being gradually phased out. Messi and probably Pique (with limited role) are the only Players I would like to still have out of the group of the old guys around.

However, should he decide to leave which he is justifiably entitled to, I would love to see him reunite with Pep at City. the genius deserves to enjoy football again before he finally hangs his boot. But, the club will surely miss and suffer the loss for a while and the situation can only be salvaged with a good coach and the right board and not the shameless ones we have around.
I agree barca board have been horrible but which team right now doesn't sign average players. Real Madrid haven't bought a galatico in ages, Bayern takes players from the weak. The board invested more £300 to replace Neymar, they didn't force Neymar. In midfield they have spent and brought. That's not barca's style except they have been trying to make someone happy for years.

what we are seeing is the breakup of a highly one sided relationship, who has been complaining, who has been nagging and acting like the club isn't trying, who walked out on his own national team when they collectively failed. I used to have deep respect for Messi.

is he the first player to finish trophyless or lose woefully. Imagine cant he wait a season then leave, why now.

I say barca board may be brainless atimes in transfers but if they suck up to Messi and beg him to stay they make themselves the biggest fools.

let's stop telling ourselves no player can be like Messi, Mbappe is already at 21 reaching those heights and others players as well. Imagine Sancho playing that RW in barca scoring 20+ goals and 20+ assists.

I don't know why but I feel Messi is not leaving...

Maybe its just a strategy to change Barca leadership...

Except he's ready to take a huge paycut because no club will be completely able to afford him due to fair play rules and covid19
a new view, if Messi is about the money he will stay, if he is about the football he would leave. No matter what I don't see Messi recovering his previous image ever, he has drawn a double edged sword either one will cut him.

If Barcelona know this is a strategy it would be foolish of them to cave to a player who has 3 or 4 more seasons at the top, if he stays that long. It would become an even deeper scar in their reputation. Future generations will seek to ascertain such presence in the club and seek to control it.

With messi out, LA liga is going to seriously decline in fellowership and commercial revenues.

There is nothing else to watch in LA liga.

If he now comes to the epl, that is like the rich getting richer.
only if that one of those bans hit on City had been upheld, either transfer ban or Champions league ban. It may have prevented Messi considering EPL. If City sign Messi, it would be one of the most profound occurrence in modern football and Barca may not be a top three club anymore.

We love eachother

But in d batlle for supremacy

We just have to troll

Scummies vs shekpite has been a tag

I blv shekpite was derived from d word shekpe.

And shekpe(9ja)=ogogoro=gin

Indirectly they tagged Chelsea fans as drunkard wch is disdainful

Scummies on d other hand is derogatory in nature.

So i don't think either fans here on nairaland are so tensed with d tag

We all have accepted it as a mere banters rather than strong insults.

Words like mumu n co tends to reduce our personalities or rather shows whatever we have had to offer as meaningless and stupid

There comes d insults cos age wise and accomplishment we are different, even in how we perceive insults.

So i am of the oponion dat d tag :shekpite vs scummies: is a welcome banter name

Let's troll for fun sake not insults.

Cos people might to some extend take it personal with could be detrimental to their immediate environment

it's fun in a way but not a nice way to welcome different opinions or new monikers. Is it a battle for moniker supremacy. shocked it's weird and some take it personally. I don't think it's fun mocking and spiting others, especially people who don't know and continue to do so even to monikers that don't insult or troll just because one doesn't like the post or their opinion. united to sign Messi cheesy Woodward the genius, is that the reason united haven't made a move all summer.

A signing worth the wait. Better than Sancho I guess

You can't sign off with a UCL, league or Cup win, okay sign off with a routine win game, no but you went with a shambolic performance being the worst player on the picth in an 8-2 annihilation.

You signed off handling a transfer request, dragging your club to court to enable them record loss, making the club president to resign and letting the fans run mad in the streets of Camp Nou and disjointed on social media platform.

Man City
PSG
Inter
Chelsea
Man U

Have all indicated interests.

Remains Juve, Bayern and Madrid.

Once it is confirmed all of the 8 teams above will indicate interest.

We are going to have a scenario where PSG, Man City, Inter, Chelsea, Man U, Bayern, Juve and Madrid would want to sign Messi.

It's coming.
Please remove Bayern from that list, we are talking about real clubs not broke ass thieves. Let's wait for Messi to be free before mentioning Bayern.

Juve won't sign him, they have Ronaldo, enough marketing and publicity, except they sell him to PSG and buy Messi.

Messi joins Madrid and destroys his Barca legacy. Won't happen but Perez can be Perez.

United, hmm It would be better for Messi to stay in barca than join a far worse clueless board than that which is at Barca. Woodward will likely want fans to think this is the signing they have been waiting for but too clueless to be able to actualize it.

That leaves PSG, Chelsea and Inter, you left City out. There's little connection between inter signing Messi and Messi actually going there.

PSG is the only possible destination for Messi. His friend is there, they can pay him tens of millions per year. PSG would like to make a statement after losing UCL. Ligue 1 is far easier than EPL, Messi has shown he doesn't like stress.
