Lagos Trader Pays N600,000 For N19m Goods A 43-year-old trader, Enemmuo Amaechi, and a driver, Benson Odefila, have been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly diverting a truckload of musical instruments valued at N19m in the Wharf, Apapa area of the state.
Amaechi, who has his store in the Oyingbo area, told PUNCH Metro that he knew that the goods were diverted, adding that he paid N600,000 for them.
The driver, 67-year-old Odefila, was thereafter arrested in the Ajangbadi area, and he confessed that he had sold the goods to Amaechi in Oyingbo.

The stolen items were afterwards recovered by the police in the trader’s store in Oyingbo, and he was arrested in the Agbado, Ijaiye area of Lagos.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, Amaechi said he paid N600,000 to Odefila, who was a friend of the runaway driver, who diverted the truck from the port in Apapa.
The trader said he knew the goods were stolen, adding that he wanted to resell them and make profits.
He said, “I did not know Odefila before now. It was a woman, an Alhaja, who was one of my customers in Oyingbo that introduced him to me. The woman said Odefila had a truck he wanted to dispose of. So, I contacted the driver.
“He asked me to pay N600,000, adding that the goods would be delivered to my store. I have my store in the Oyingbo area. I paid for the goods in two installments. I knew they were stolen goods, but I was tempted to get involved. My greed for profit drove me into this mess.”
Also, Odefila, who hails from Ilaje area of Ondo State, said,
“I am a transporter. I am not the driver of the stolen truck, but I was the one who found the buyer. He gave me 10 cartons out of the musical instruments as my share. It is true that I collected N600,000 from him.
“The original driver is Amass; he is on the run. I have not done this business before. Amass is notorious for diverting trucks from the Apapa port, but this is the first time he would send the goods through me.”
According to the police, exhibits recovered from the suspects include 218 units of guitar, 29 units of drum sets, 111 units of amplifiers, 20 speakers and five units of guitar stands.

A baby boy born with his heart on the outside of his chest has stunned doctors by surviving into his sixth day.
The child stunned medics to overcome the odds despite suffering from ectopia cordis – an incredibly rare heart condition.
The miracle tot’s parents have launched a desperate appeal to help him live longer after he was born in Uttar Pradesh state on Wednesday.
Although the chances of him surviving past his third day was less than one in a million, the as-yet-unnamed tot is in need of private health care and a vital but expensive operation.
But parents Priyanka, 24, and Nirbhay Pal, 31, earn less than £3 a day and have no way of funding the treatment required for their first child.
Dad Nirbhay said: “The doctors said we should go to a private hospital and get surgery done.
“But I am a poor man. We can barely afford two square meals a day. I don’t know what to do. We are hoping that the government will help us.
Ectopia cordis can cause the heart to protrude anywhere from the neck to the lower abdomen, and affects as few as eight in every one million births.
Unfortunately, 90 per cent of these are either stillborn or dying within three days.

Photos: Thirsty Leopard Gets Head Stuck In Pot This happened in a village in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan recently. A male leopard looking for water put his head inside a pot and was unable to bring his head back out. He was stuck there for five hours until villagers were able to help.
The frightened animal who couldn’t see after getting its head stuck in the pot wandered around the village as residents who didn’t know what to do just took pictures. Wildlife officials were eventually called and they tranquilised the leopard and sawed the pot off its head. The Leopard wasn’t hurt.

A New months?s Prayer

May GOD make ur MONTH a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;
Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;....HAPPY NEW MONTH ND A VERY NICE INDEPENDENCE to a motherland #BLISS#
