Breaking: The minister of health has bin summoned by the president over his letter sacking all the federal health workers he did not employ without the consent of the head of service. The head of service has petitioned the presidency on the infringement of his right of office by the health minister. His fraudulent case that was pending before he was made the health minister has bin revisited. We are at the verge of victory. From a reliable source the pengasen and nupeng and other unions under the umbrella of the TUC has written to the president for urgent response to our plights or the nation will bear the consequences. Be steadfast and focused we are not alone in this battle. let us wait patiently for the ten days ultimatum by the NANS. Everyone must join in this struggle. Adewale is on hot seat. The fire is burning.

Pages of newspaper has never been an avenue to disseminate information. Some overzealous individuals did that but we are following due process before we make an informed statement which will be documented in black and white. However until you hear from the leadership, STRIKE CONTINUES

I was gonna continue this back and forth but then I changed my mind. . .I can't be assed to exchange words with someone who reasons like this. But I just have to ask, and please excuse my ignorance, I really wanna learn from you since you obviously know a lot.

Can you list the functions of a CONSULTANT PHARMACIST AND a CONSULTANT NURSE.

I mean CONSULTANT PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS have to go through over 6-10 years of residency training in a teaching hospital, write exams conducted by West African College of Medicine and even beyond to be certified specialised in a particular medical field. But as you said that's easy stuff, a dummy could do it.

So what does one have to do be a CONSULTANT PHARMACIST and what's the job description? grin

Thr are many fields in pharmacy. A consultant pharmacist is a pharmacist who works as a consultant providing expert advice on the use of medications or on the provision of pharmacy services to medical institutions, medical practices and individual patients.

U can also check West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. Stop arguing in ignorance.

@bolded
And why are you so adept at personally exposing your quackery to the public.
To diagnose, treat and manage a patient requires years of training under skilled Consultants and Professors. It's human lives and you're chosing to practice your own form of fraudulent medicine at a pharmacy? Under who's juridiction?

And by the way every other person in the health sector didn't do "Basic anatomy, physiology or biochemistry" like doctors did.
There's absolutely nothing basic about what doctors learnt. They learnt it all in details as it pertains to hospital application in patients' management.
I sat in a classroom with other members of the health sector, I'm not trying to take anything from them but I'll say it anywhere, we didn't have it as easy as they did and still do.

There's so much pressure passing through med school so seeing how you claim to be a pharm D holder and dismiss diagnosing, treating and managing patients at a pharmacy as basic things a pharmacist knows is hilarious.

Keep up the good work bro. Keep sending unsuspecting peeps to the morgue. grin

Lol. E pain am. Yes i can do it very well. My Dad is a medical doctor nd owes a hospital. I ve learnt a lot from him. Medicine is not rocket science Nd thr is nothing difficult about it. Any average dummy dat can concentrate will do well. Just like tailoring. Medicine is not as dynamic as pharmacy. The procedures u guys performs remains d same. Pharmacy is evolving by d minute. By the time we ve consultant pharmacists Nd nurses, u guys will see how irrelevant u can be.

As a pharm D holder you DO NOT KNOW OR DO EVERYTHING a doctor knows or does. And you probably never will.

And a doctor knows everything about drugs like a pharmacist. The only thing doctors are not bothered with during Medical School is "How these drugs are manufactured in factories."

As early as year 4 medical students are required to pass a mandatory course on Pharmacology. They learn about EVERYTHING pertaining drugs. Including proper dosage, drug interactions, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, side effects, adverse effects.
Mind you they learn all these alongside other demanding fields like Microbiology, Histopathology etc.
This is as early as year 4. . . They basically learn over half of what it took you 6 years to study in less than 1 year.

I'm not trying to take anything away from your profession but don't undermine others to uplift yourself.

This is the reason we ve sooo much deaths these days. The probability of ppl dying in the hospital is increasing daily cuz of this ur mentality. Wat doctors knw is basics. Just like every other Person in d health field did basic anatomy, physiology, pathology, pathophysiology, biochemistry etc. Don't tell me ur dat dumb. Nd I say it again, aside surgery I can do everything a doctor does. I can diagnose, treat, manage a patient from my pharmacy. If it requires test, I sent d patient to the Lab. Ur senior colleagues ve seen Whr it is going b4 they started frustrating us, bt they lost b4 it even began

I just laugh when JOHESU spread the lies that Doctors can't work without them, that is the greatest lie from the pit of hell. A doctor was trained to be able to do all the works paramedics(JOHESU) does, it's JOHESU that can't do most of what a doctor can do. Now let's not confuse "can" with "won't". The fact that a doctor can work and make the hospital to work at 100% capacity doesn't mean he will do it, if you want doctors to make the hospital work at 100% anytime johesu is on strike, all the FG needs to do is to say for that particular Hospital, all the doctors will be paid for their normal doctor works and will also be paid the for the JOHESU work they will do while the strike lasts(if JOHESU salary in that hospital is N5m, just tell the doctors that since johesu are not working, that 5m will be shared on the doctors salaries while the strike lasts, then you will see that the doctors will do all the works) They won't do it with this present set up because it doesn't make sense to do someone else's work and the person that hasn't worked will still get paid for doing nothing and the person that has done extra work won't get anything extra.
Also when the doctors start doing all the work, majority of those that will come and benefit from that service are still the striking johesu members because like they say everytime that they make up 95% of the hospital workforce.
Now let's analyse the work johesu do in the hospital

1. Pharmacists
The pharmacist in our hospitals only read what a doctor prescribes and dispense the drugs, no more no less.
Pharmacists that work in pharmaceutical companies(they are not under johesu because they don't work in the hospital) are the ones that produce drugs and some medical consumables.

2. Nurses
They give injections, and other medications to patients, do vital signs some of them take deliveries.

Doctors can do all that

3. Lab scientists and technicians
They run tests on blood, urine and other samples sent to them by doctors

There are doctors in the Lab that can also run all the tests but johesu would have locked up the lab so that doctors don't have access to the lab

4. Radiographers
They shoot X-ray, CT scan, MRI and doctors in the radiology dept are the ones that report the film the radiographers shoot.

Doctors can shoot too

So have you seen why they always lock up everywhere when they go on strike?

Now in order to frustrate the doctors more, they include these sets of people in their gang up association called Johesu: The cleaners/sweepers in the hospital, the man that operates the generators, the admin staff. You know why? So that if the doctors do the work of the core hospital staff johesu, if there's power failure the generator man will be no where to be found cos he will claim he is also johesu and he's on strike, the admin staff that should normally prepare salaries and have no business in patient's care will also not prepare the salary of the doctors that are working. So you see? a gateman, generator man, admin staff and the rest all want pay parity with the doctors, and you want the FG to take Johesu serious

Lol. As a Pharm. D holder. I do everything a doctor does in the hospital aside surgery. Wat can u say about dat? I make nothing less than a million every month. Nd doctors don't knw anything about drugs, aside name Nd usage. Most of dem don't even knw the dosing, not to talk of side effect, mechanism of action Nd interactions. I personally ve a photocopying machine for all d blunders I receive as prescriptions from doctors. This war is just starting

It is unfortunate that an illegal gathering of purposelessly disgruntled health workers are the ones holding the entire health sector in ransom. Quite sad.
The kind of things you see in an emerging economy where the govt is the largest employer of labour.
The only practicable solution is for the government to conceed the running of all public hospitals to Public-Private Partnership arrangement.
Allow private employers of labour to determine who is important in the hospital. Let private employers also determine who earns more.
Aberrations like JOHESU are the hallmarks of a failed state. Nigeria needs a change in structure.

Health / Nigeria Medical Doctors Are Pompous And Uncivilized by frankpro27(m): 5:45pm On May 14, 2018
The last time NMA went on strike, Nigerians from all works of life pressed on government to look into their issues so that our hospitals will continue to offer services to Nigerians
Today, the hospitals are again shut down due to JOHESU strike and unthinkably, NMA have been the most vocal, not in to quell the impasse but to fuel it. They are insisting that government should not listen to, or meet the demands of, JOHESU.
Their reason for the meddlesomeness in the many press releases and media engagement is to keep wide the gap of earned allowance between them and other health professionals. This is selfishness and greed.
I ceased to regard any medical doctor since I took my ailing mother to the hospital in the early 2009 and got disgusting and irresponsible treat from a consultant. He attended to my mum then wrote drugs for us to buy.
I asked what he was treating, he said he was suspecting septicaemia so we should try so and so antibiotics. I told him it sounds like guess work. He kept quiet. I requested if we could be sure of what were are treating, he picked offence and started shouting.
Demanding to know if I wanted to teach him his work. I said I was the customer/client here and I should be the king. He said the only king in the hospital is the doctor.
He was a young man so I thought it was untamed exuberance. While I was on the matter, a nurse came and over heard us, inadvertently, she asked if we has done lab test.
The aggression with which the consultant shouted her down was marvelling. I wondered for a minute if it was his private hospital but I knew I was in a public hospital where all were employees of government.
I asked why he addressed his colleague in that manner but he told me that the nurses and pharmacists were subservient to him. He told me how much he was earning and how much pharmacists earned, using it to justify his status. I was shocked.
I switched back to the prescription he had written and asked if we could be sent to the lab, he opposed it,saying that the most arrogant people in the hospital were the lab people.
I asked how, he said, they have arrogated a title of scientists to themselves and don't want to work under pathologists. I was shocked as what that got to do with my mum's lab test. Within my 10min of being with him, he had skinned the nurses, the pharmacy and the lab alive. Then I knew the doctors were the real problems.
In summary, he insisted on treating without lab test. I was angry and left also without his prescription. I took my mum to a private laboratory and explained my situation. The lab tests showed leukemia and my elder brother in UK had to arrange for mum to undergo treatment abroad
Since then, I have followed keenly the disregard end humiliation that the doctors treat other health workers in Nigeria with the passive support of health ministers and commissioners.
They often go the side of NMA during industrial disputes by quickly responding to demands of doctors and speaking English on demands others health workers.
I think the duration of study for doctors is only one year extra to pharmacists, lab scientists etc, yet they earn two times more than the non-doctors upon entering public service.
Why is this so? Only doctors are heading hospitals and ministries of health in Nigeria. Why? This is not the case in other countries on Europe and Asia. Even the current DG of WHO is not a medical doctor.
Where did the Nigerian medical doctor got his ego from to hold other health professionals in perpetual captivity? I call on JOHESU to break these ancient chains of slavery and emancipate themselves and our health system in Nigeria.
The health system under ineptitude of medical doctors keeps recording abysmal indices year in year out to the extent that our President cannot find one health facility to treat ordinary ear infection.
I urge President Buhari to immediately sack the minister of health in view of his recent irresponsible comments on this ongoing strike. It is a pitiable anticlimax in our civilization
Lastly, the curriculum of MBBS should be reviewed to include civic education for would-be medical doctors in Nigeria.
Their incivility is the cause of industrial unrest in the health system in Nigeria today

"The demand for appointment of other health workers as Consultant (with payment of specialist allowance) is a self-centered agitation aimed at ensuring they are in charge of clinical care. This is not only an aberration (considering international best practice) that will add no value to clinical/patient's care, it will certainly worsen morbidity and mortality indices in Nigeria. We therefore reaffirm the rejection of this demand."

I am (not too) disappointed about where the above statement came from. This is exactly a product of deep hatred and resentment. Interestingly, it is one out of the myriads of the supposed rejection of demands.

So it's a crime to become a Consultant in one's chosen field/profession?

Or anyone who chooses other profession outside MEDICINE has missed it in life? Someone please help me out. I seem not to understand.

What's your headache about the specialist allowance? Is it your business?

What's exactly the self-centeredness in becoming a Consultant in my chosen profession? Ok. You want to be in charge of everything, and even my acquired skills and knowledge, abi? Abeg shift.

Now tell me what the international best practice is all about. Some of know what it is. But please do well to tell us your own self-fabricated international best practice.

Saying it will add no value to clinical/patient's care is just NONSENSE.All these INSECURITIES you're displaying will not help the association and its members.

And please stop giving baseless reasons for your shameful assertions. Clearly state the researches you have carried out to conclude that appointing other health workers as Consultant will CERTAINLY worsen morbidity and mortality indices. For where?

NMA please receive SANCTIFIED SENSE!
