Music/Radio / I Wish Don Jazzy And D’banj Could Work Together Again – Tiwa Savage by frankudokwublog: 6:55pm On Aug 08, 2013

First female Ambassador for Beverages company ”Pepsi” and First lady of Marvin Records Tiwa Savage, was recently interview by StyleMania magazine for their latest edition and was ask various question including her view on separation between two music luminaries and founders of defunct Mo’Hits Records should they come back together. Duo of D’banj And Don Jazzy make various Headlines about few days ago, when both of them performed together at D’banj Sister White Wedding at The Grandeur Event Center, Ikeja, Lagos.

“I am still in shock and when I listen to songs like Suddenly, I am like is this really happening? And I feel like they have left a void in the music industry in Nigeria and in Africa,” Tiwa said in a special feature on her in the latest edition of StyleMania magazine. The songstress said she could not really point to what caused the rift between the two friends beyond different news reports she read in the media.

Tiwa, however, admitted that in line with some people’s perception of Don Jazzy, the super producer is indeed a “mysterious” guy.

“I’ll tell you the honest truth about Don Jazzy…he really is like that. He doesn’t really open his heart easily to people. He just accepts what happens and he moves on. I mean he is the Don, so I can’t go up to him and say ‘Jazzy, what really happened. I just keep my mouth shut,” she said.

In the interview, Tiwa defended the open show of sensitive body parts in her video which has attracted a lot of flaks.

“You know a lot of people say that in Africa we don’t like to expose ourselves and that is actually a big lie because if you check the history of Africa, we were actually very exposed. So I think it is quite ironic because people think that the western world is influencing us whereas we are the ones influencing the western world,” Tiwa argued.

Do you think these guys should just forget their pride and work together again?

Crime / Car Accident Kills Three Journalists, Injures 10 by frankudokwublog: 6:33pm On Aug 04, 2013

Those who died in the crash are Olatunde Ojenike of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan, Adolphus Okonkwo, Champion Newspapers, and Kafayat Odunsi of Nigeria Television Authority. Ten others sustained injuries in the accident, which occurred near Ilesha in Osun, and are receiving treatment at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

Among the injured are the chairmen of Oyo and Lagos state councils of NUJ, Gbenga Opadokun and Deji Elumoye respectively as well as Fatimah Abdulkareem, the National Treasurer. The journalists were returning to their bases from a national assignment of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), which held in Abuja on Thursday.

The National Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Shuibu Leman, said: “it was a sad moment for the union and the nation as a whole.’’ Leman said officials of the union were on their way to Osun to assess the situation. The Chairman of NUJ, Abuja Council, Mr Chucks Ehirim, said, “it was indeed a great shock as the three late journalists were very alive and active on Thursday at a meeting of the union. “We are all shocked by the incident.

They were our colleagues and we were all together in the meeting till late on Thursday. It is unfortunate because they died in union activities.’’

Condolences Pour In
Meanwhile, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the state of Osun has offered to pay the medical bills of 10 journalists injured in the accident. near Ilesha, incidentally, the governor’s hometown.
Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has described the fatal accident involving officials of as “lamentable”.

Amosun said he was shocked and saddened by the news of the accident, which resulted in the death of three officers and injuries to others. In a press release by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mrs Funmi Wakama, Amosun commiserated with families of the victims and media community in Nigeria.
The governor prayed to God to grant the injured speedy recovery and the deceased eternal rest.
In the same vein, Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has described as unfortunate, shocking and devastating the death of the journalists.

Governor Ahmed , in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, said the death of the journalists while pursuing enhanced welfare of their colleagues has yet denied Nigeria the services of the vibrant Nigerians who could have made meaningful contributions to the national process of promoting freedom of speech and democratic values in the country through the pen.

He Ahmed noted that the death of the journalists has again brought to the front burner the issue of insurance policies for working journalists in view of the hazardous nature of their vocation. He urged employers of journalists, whether in the private or public sector, to wholeheartedly embrace journalists insurance culture , just as his administration has done for all working journalists in the state, irrespective of their employers.
“It was in recognition of the place of journalists in national development that my administration paid the insurance premium of all journalists working in the state irrespective of their states of origin or the nature of their employment.” the governor said.

Gov. Ahmed prayed God to give the family and the journalists’ fraternity the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
Furthermore, Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed shock at the death of three officials of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The Governor, in his condolence message on Saturday, described the death of the journalists as a “big tragedy which cut short the lives of patriots who were on active service to their fatherland”.

Dr. Fayemi said the untimely death of the NUJ chiefs has cast a thick pall of mourning on the media and all lovers of vibrant journalism and free press which contributed immensely to the democracy being enjoyed in the country.

He prayed God to grant the families of the deceased the fortitude and courage to bear the great and monumental loss of their loved ones.

The Governor bemoaned the fact that this incident has robbed the nation of committed, hardworking, articulate and sound media professionals whose experience would be needed in the evolution of a greater nation all Nigerians envisage.

He regretted that the death of the journalists occurred at a time the nation was yet to recover from the demise of media icon, Alhaji Alade Odunewu who passed on few days ago.

The Governor urged journalists in the country not to allow the tragedy to dampen their morale in the discharge of their onerous duties of informing and educating the populace. Governor Fayemi also used the opportunity the call on the concerned authorities to ensure good insurance package for journalists in view of the hazards associated with the media profession.

He said, ”The media profession is very risky and full of hazards hence the need for solid insurance package for journalists in the country.

“On behalf of the government and people of Ekiti State I commiserate with the families, friends and associates of the deceased and may we not witness this kind of tragedy again”.

The Osun Chairman of NUJ, Mr Abiodun Olalere said the survivors were in stable condition

Crime / WICKEDNESS: Woman Roasts 7-yr-old Step-son’s Hand (PICTURED) by frankudokwublog: 8:18pm On Jul 16, 2013

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a woman, Mrs Aminot Otun, for roasting the right hand of her seven-year-old step-son, Awwal Otun, last Thursday. Awwal’s hand was allegedly roasted for adding drops of liquid disinfectant to his bath water.

According to Ngozi Ekwerike-Okoro, President, Child to Child Network, a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, a distressed call from one of Otun’s neighbours at 59, Suenu Street, Surulere, Lagos saved Awwal’s life.

Awwal was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital at Gbaja where another drama ensued as the doctor on duty refused to treat or admit the boy despite pleas that the hospital was built purposely for mothers and children in the state.

According to his teachers, Awwal, who is in primary one, should not be allowed to go back to his step-mother because he is always coming to school with bruises as the neighbours who pleaded anonymity said that had been the normal punishment for the boy’s mistakes.
Awwal was later taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment and he is currently at Juvenile Welfare Centre of Alakara Police Station.

The story

According to Ngozi, “On July 11, 2013, Awwal was rushed to the Randle General Hospital, Mother and Child Centre, Gbaja, at about 6:30pm after a distress call from neighbours.

“He sustained serious injuries from fire burns inflicted on him by the step-mother who is now in police custody.
“At the hospital, we requested to see the welfare officer who we were told had closed for the day but after narrating our mission to one of the staff she referred us to the chief matron. The chief matron issued an emergency card to the boy and directed him to see the doctor.

“The doctor, however, refused to attend to the boy, because according to her, the hospital did not have enough space to accommodate the boy, as he would need admission for intensive care.

“We pleaded with the doctor to at least administer some first aid on the boy but she refused. We went back to the chief matron who told us after consulting with the doctor that Surulere General Hospital (Mother and Child Centre) does not have the facility to deal with such cases. They said our best chance would be to go to Ikeja General Hospital.

“We eventually left in disappointment and went to a private hospital in Mushin, close to the juvenile centre, where he got immediate attention and was treated free of charge.

The boy said he added small quantity of Izal disinfectant to his bath water and his step mother got angry and put his hand on a burning stove since Sunday and he was not taken to hospital till Thursday when neighbours called the Lagos State Child Protection Network who mobilised the JWC Alakara to rescue him.

The Jor Oh and Uku Uku Crooner returns with Take It slow, lovely single. Bump this and share your thoughts smiley

Afro Street-Hop crooner, Jahbless has already being seen push the boundaries of genre several times from ragga to rap to pop. He reveal lately “I’ve been writing a lot of R&B songs.the truth is I’m glad I have a gift that allows me to switch lanes.”

Jahbless insisted that this is no Snoop Lion-style reinvention, pointing out that he has always striven to be diverse. “My talent is more than just street songs,” he said. My whole goal in life was to reach that certain level of success where people will say, ‘Hey, that guy can do anything.”He admitted that the epic, often ridiculed project was always going to be divisive. “You are always going to have the negative and the positive,” he said. “Uku Uku is something I didn’t even expect. It is strange. But if you are going to be called a genius, which again I don’t think of myself as, then you have to [break barriers]. You can’t hate on that. You have to respect a person willing to sacrifice their career to try something new. You can say a lot about Uku Uku. But one thing you can’t say is it’s not entertaining. And aren’t we in the entertainment business?

Jahbless is still planning on getting “I am me” album out this year, he promised: “If you liked rebirth and you liked Overground and, it’s pretty much the 2 albums combined with lot of maturity. Proving that his talent still does to some extent lie in street songs.

Crime / Gay Pastor Arrested In Edo For Raping 20-year-old Male Church Member (PICTURED) by frankudokwublog: 12:40pm On Jul 04, 2013

Yesterday, Police in Edo arrested a pastor identified as Philips Ogbebor, alleged to have had carnal knowledge of a 20-year-old male member of his church (names withheld). It was revealed that the pastor threatened to kill his victim if he told anybody about the encounter.

When interviewed, Ogbebor simply said: “God will judge, go and talk to others” and kept on mumbling. The victim narrated his own side of the story;

“I told him I have never done this since I grew up, but he insisted. It was painful and I told him I will not allow it again. So after the second attempt, I told him I will expose the act. He then administered an oath on me, saying if I ever told any one, I will die.

“He carried sand and olive oil and poured them on my head, then he wore black garment, saying I will die if I ever leaked the secret. He killed a black fowl and gave me the liver and gizzard to eat at about 2 a.m., threatening that if I ever said it out, I will die like the fowl.

“But when I realised that it is a sin, I met a man of God to pray for me that God should forgive me and that I am ready to expose it since he forced me. There after I went to the church and told the congregation about the act. When he heard it, he threatened me by sending his younger brother and members of his gang after me. Since then I have been running.”
