sgtleverage:Well that you said they were stolen doesn't make it stolen. Prove your point. Next line of abuse please. |
Mrleverage:You are funny. I guess abusing people is all you know how to do. At first you said its a stolen content now you say the words were changed. If the words were changed that means the contents are plagiarism free right? that means they aren't stolen right? or perhaps you cant comprehend either. Your next line of abuse please a waiting. |
Mrleverage:Exactly what most Nigerians are known for. When you know your argument is baseless or you cant make a constrictive criticism, next thing is insult. We develop contents and all contents on the website is 100% free of plagiarism. Whats your next line of insult? Am waiting. |
Mrleverage:Stole it from where? Who is the original author? State your case clearly. Let me enlighten you a little There is what we call PLR (Private Label Right). It gives you right to an article as long as certain conditions are met. Buzzfeed, Metro, TMZ make lots of money selling PLR to bloggers. Am not a blogger and i don't subscribe much to PLR either. But its very unfair you see an article online and the first thing you do is accuse the "OP" of plagiarism and even went further to call the "OP" a dead blogger. Maybe you should check my profile and see stuffs i have posted, they are mainly from one source http://news.obiaks.com contents from Obiaks News get featured in Google news, Bing News, Apple news and a times Yahoo News. Now theses are news platforms whose policies conform with standard journalism practice and they have zero tolerance for plagiarism. Please stop criticizing what or whom you know nothing about. |

Ferruccio Lamborghini was born into a family of grape farmer. As a young man he was more interested in farming machinery rather than farming lifestyle. He served as a mechanic during world war II and was taken as a prisoner for a year. After the world ended, he started building tractors. Soon, his tractor company became a super hit. His increasing wealth helped him to purchase faster and more expensive cars that he dreamed of driving in his youth. At one point, he had enough cars to use a different one every day of the week. In the early 1960's, Ferrari turned into the reigning superpower of luxury sports cars. However, Ferruccio Lamborghini thought that the Ferrari was too noisy and rough to use on the road. He visited Nezo Ferrari to give him some suggestions that could help improve his luxurious Ferraris. Not taking his suggestions seriously, Enzo Ferrari insulted him. Enzo told Feruccio that the problem was not with the car but with the driver. He also advised Ferrucio to go look after his tractors as he knew nothing about luxury cars. A rivalry was born. Ferruccio designed his own car in 4 months and unveiled it in 1963.The first version of Lamborghini 350 GT was way better than Ferrari.By the end of 1964, he had sold his first 13 cars. The rest is history. What does the birth of the worlds favorite car teach us? Never let someone put you down, You are capable of achieving everything you desire.Work hard and archive the impossible http://blog.obiaks.com/180114065839/The-story-of-Lamborghini.html

Hollywood Accounting Harry porter and the Order of Phoenix grossed to $1 billion dollars but account showed it lost $167 million. Similarly, Return of the Jedi hadn't made a profit, but made $500 million on a budget of $40 million. This is Hollywood accounting and it sees studios invent companies that are paid bogus fees to reduce a movies profit so they don't have to pay out a share of profit to talents. David Prowse who played the role of Darth Vader and Stan Lee has to sue to get his share of spider man Profit. The Cancer Film. The Conqueror, a movie staring John Wayne as Genghis Khan was filmed in Utah's valley. The shooting location was 240km downwind from US nuclear facility and a year before shooting, 11 nukes has been tested in the area. After 3 month filming on locations in contaminated air and water, The producers has 60 tons radioactive soil shipped back to the studio to produce authenticity. Within 25 years, almost half the cast and crew has been diagnosed with cancer. Although not conclusively proven one doctor commented that so many cancer cases could be classed as an epidemic. Fake movie Critics Sony invented a fake film reviewer called David Manning to give good reviews and trick people into going to see their films. The movies include the Animal and a Knight Tale which hadn't been reviewed by actual critics. When the deception was uncovered, Sony was sued by a couple who claimed that they had been misled by the fake reviews. They won the case and Sony had to pay out $1.5 million in damages to those who have been duped. This worked out at $5 for each person tricked. Animals where harmed The disclaimer no animal were harmed during production doesn't mean much and has been used in movies where animals has been injured or actually killed. Over 25 animals including sheep and goats died of dehydration and exhaustion on the Hobbit. But the film received a disclaimer because the animal had died during a production hiatus. The Tiger from Life of Pi almost drowned and a chipmunk was squashed during the production of Failure to Launch and dozens of fish were killed on pirates of the Caribbean. I injuries weren't intentional or serious, then the movie could still recieve the disclaimer The blacklist In the 1950 hundreds of actors, directors and crews were barred from working in Hollywood because of suspected communist sympathies - even though there was often no evidence. Orsen Welles and Chalie Chaplin were among those blacklisted by studios. Chaplin was even banned from the USA and had his permit canceled in 1952. He only made two films after. The blacklist wasn't just to suspected communist though. When actor Cliff Roberston reveled an embezzlement scandal by the head of Columbia pictures he was blacklisted for whistle blowing. Criminal Actors Some of Hollywood's biggest actors have committed awful crimes. At age 16 Mark Wahlberg once beat a middle aged Vietnamese man unconscious while calling him "Vietnamese F*king Shit". He served his 45 days for attempted murder. Sean Penn hit wife Madonna in the head with a baseball bat and allegedly broke into her house and tied her to a chair for 9 hours so he can assault her. Even Will Smith was once connect with an assault that left one man blind in one eye. Although the charges were latter dropped. The Coogan Bill 1920s child star Jackie Coogan had his $60 million dollars fortune stollen by his parents. His mother and father spent Coohans earning on fur coats, diamonds and luxury cars. His step father said" every dollar a kid earns before he is 21 belongs to his parents, Jackie will not get a cent of his earning". Although he sued for the money, he only got $2.1 million. The Coogan Bill was passed in 1939 to prevent this from happening but even today only 15% of child s earning are protected Sexism In holly wood, the gender gap is huge with the world highest paid actor earning up to 2.5 times as much as the top actresses. To make matters worse, male leads nets twice as much screen time as their female counterparts and only 15% of movies star female characters. But the bias doesn't stop there. Based on film released in 2012 only 28.4% of onscreen speaking characters are female and of the top 100 grossing movies only 16.7$ had female directors, writers or producers A deadly business Since 1980 over 50 people have died making movies. Most of them are stuntmen. Death has occurred in films including Top Guns, XX and The Expendables II. Perhaps the most tragic occurred on the set of 1983 Twilight Zone. Apologetic explosion caused a helicopter to crash killing three actors. Two were decapitated including a child aged 7. The children had been hired illegally but everyone involved were cleared of criminal charges. Nazi Censorship Historian Ben Urwand claims Hollywood collaborated with Nazis so their films wouldn't be banned in German cinemas. Studios are thought to have censored films that might have damaged German prestige and cancelled movies that are pro democracy or highlighted the plight of German Jews. The biggest studio at the time MGM is even reported to have in German rearmament. On advise from the German propaganda Ministry one of its executive even divorced his Jewish wife to help maintain good relations. She later died in a concentration cam http://news.obiaks.com/180113030320/Most-Shocking-Facts-about-Hollywood |
What material is it? Its something known as antimatter. Antimatter is the opposite of regular matter because although it is made up of particles and atoms just like regular matter, it has opposite electrical charge and has negative protons called anti protons. Whenever antimatter touches regular matter, the two instantly annihilate each other. The pure energy released is why antimatter is so useful and expensive. To put it into perspective, if you dropped a raisin-sized amount of antimatter on the ground, it will create an explosion bigger than the Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. Also if you made an antimatter bullet, when fired, the bullet would be able to destroy an entire house. Antimatter can also be used as fuel source for interstellar travel, and has the potential to allow us to reach the nearest star to earth on around two years. But why haven't we done any of these things? That's because antimatter is incredibly rare, difficult to produce and expensive. According to NASA paper, antimatter cost around $25 billion per gram.Another NASA paper from 1999, however, says that a gram of antimatter cost up to 62.5 trillion per gram. The only way to acquire antimatter is to acquire it artificially, which is incredibly difficult. The CERN research facility in Switzerland is one facility that produces anti protons. It can produce 10 million anti protons a minute, which is actually close to nothing. At its current rate of production, it would take 100 billion years to create just 1 gram of antimatter. Finding antimatter is a problem, but storing antimatter is another huge problem.you have to suspend the material so that it doesn't come in contact with anything. So far, antimatter has been stored for 17 minutes max before its completely annihilated because of contact with regular matter. http://blog.obiaks.com/180112033518/One-gram-of-this-material-is-worth-$6.25-trillion-dollars.html

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both their wives lost a child while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head. Now it gets really weird. Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln. Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners The successors of both Presidents are named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat. Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford." Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford." Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the "kicker": A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland. A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. AND... Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse... Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theatre... Its incredible. ? http://www.orahis.com/35/The-Amazing-Intrigues-of-History--Between-Lincoln-and-Kennedy-

Rumours has it that a small cat-like creature with a human head had been found in Malaysia, have been quashed by police. Officials are desperately trying to deny that such animal exist, despite videos and photographs circulating online. Clips were reported to have been filmed in the Pahang area of western Malaysia. The show the bald pink-skinned creature with four limbs and a human-like head. It has sharp claws on all four limbs, two pointy teeth and thin black hair. State police chief Datuk Rosli Abdul Rahman said that the photographs were "untrue". He added: "Checks revealed the images were downloaded from the internet before it was shared on social media, claiming that the discovery was made in Pahang. I hope the public will stop circulating news about the alleged discovery." The pictures are thought to be of a ‘silicon baby werewolf’ toy sold online. Police added that no sightings of the supposed creature were reported. A picture of the bizarre cat-like beast circulated on social media after it was reported to have been found at the Pahang border. The post claimed that the creature was being held in a laboratory at an unidentified location. Earlier this year, a goat with a human-like face terrified an Indian village and puzzled the internet. Footage of the odd animal swept the web after the goat was discovered in an unknown part of India. It appears to possess the facial structure of a human thanks to its delicate nose and lips. The goat's lips appear to be bent upwards, forming a pout on its face. And its nose also resembles that of a human's rather than the snout of a goat. The pictures were uploaded onto social media by Samiraa Aissa who shared the weird snaps with her Facebook friends. She wrote: "A strange creature has been discovered in India. The animal, whose shape resembles that of a human being, terrified a whole village." Earlier this year a woman in Nigeria claimed she had given birth to a goat after a two year pregnancy. A free medical treatment clinic had been set up by a local pastor and the woman's labour was apparently brought on. Crowds gathered to watch with local media reporting an infant goat-like animal covered in a pool of blood on the concrete floor. Footage has also been released showing the blood-soaked animal which locals say backs up the bizarre claims. Cc Lalasticlala Ishilove Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy

Parents are increasingly turning to tutoring services in order to help their children reach their potential. Here's why... In today's society, there is widespread agreement that the American educational system is less than optimal. Many feel that, although the No Child Left Behind Act established sound principles, its underfunding has rendered those principles meaningless. There have also been widespread reports that state are "dumbing down" standardized testing so that state scores can show the improvements necessary in order to maintain or improve their status. Many parents complain that school curricula is far too focused on teaching students how to test well, at the expense of truly teaching subjects in a way that engage students' natural curiosity. Due to provisions in the No Child Left Behind Act, out of necessity, the focus of many schools is to raise the scores of students who test in the "far below basic" and "below basic" proficiency levels on their yearly assessments. Even so, most schools lack the resources to give those students the attention they need in order to improve their test scores. Further, parents of children who test in the "proficient" or "advanced" range often feel as though their children are being left behind, in that they aren't challenged to do their best. In other words, they feel that the focus on remediating learners who have low test scores has the unintended consequence of bringing down the test scores of those who are gifted and advanced. As a result, parents are increasingly turning to tutoring services in order to help their children reach their potential. They rightly feel that tutors can help fill the gaps in the education of children. For example, even a student who is proficient in math may need additional help, while a gifted math learner can use the services of a math tutor to augment classroom instruction and go to the next level. Likewise, when parents turn to a tutor, a student who needs remediation can often get the help he or she needs to succeed in the classroom. Parents whose children are in middle school, junior high, or high school are also increasingly using tutoring services - especially online tutoring services. The highly competitive environment of university and postgraduate admissions make having a competitive edge a necessity. One-on-one tutoring for test preparation is growing exponentially, as test preparation services often enroll as many as 20 students in one class, making it difficult for individual students to get the attention they need. For any student, the key to learning is being engaged with the material and interacting with the instructor. Unfortunately, the state of educational funding today makes it increasingly difficult for students to receive the attention they need. Even though they have the best of intentions, teachers all too often simply don't have the time to adapt material to individual learning styles. Tutoring services are popular because they can augment what children learn in the classroom, can help both remedial and advanced learners grasp subject matter that challenges them, and can help students gain a competitive edge in test preparation. https://tutor.obiaks.com/updates/general/28/Why-Tutoring-Services-are-Necessary-in-Todays-Educational-Environment |

One of the oldest people in the UK has just turned 111, and she claims to owe her amazing longevity to a shot of whiskey each night. Grace Jones, who has acquired the fitting moniker Amazing Grace, recently celebrated her 111th birthday recently, however she said she doesn’t ‘feel any different than I did at 21’. It’s not just 60 years of seeing off a whiskey every night that has kept Grace going into her 12th decade. Her daughter Dierdre, who is approaching her 80th birthday herself, said of her mother: ‘She’s a very positive person and never seems to worry about anything. ‘She’s also very lively and interested in everything and everyone. She loved moving around. She’s the kind of person who cannot understand why anybody would want to live the quiet life.’ Grace was born in Liverpool in 1906. She was alive when the Titanic sank and was 12 when WW1 ended. She even shares the year of her birth with artist Samuel Beckett and actress Mary Astor. Grace is the 6th oldest person in the UK, the oldest being Bessie Cam from Rotherham who is 113. As well as seeing more than 100 years of British history, including women gaining the vote, five separate monarchs and two world wars, Grace has also moved home 27 times in her life. She also said the highlight of her life (so far) was her happy marriage to Leonard, who sadly died in 1986. And what brand of whiskey does Grace favour each night? She usually goes for Teacher’s Highland Cream, which started being made in 1884, only 22 years before Grace was born, however occasionally she enjoys a Famous Grouse. http://blog.obiaks.com/170918044820/Woman-reveals-secret-to-living-to-111-is-a-shot-of-whisky-a-night-.html

The Congo Civil which began 5 June 1998 and ended December 1999 was caused as a results conflicts between two or more contending ethnic groups. The war was a sequel of the civil war of 1993 and involved militias representing three political candidates, the conflict ended following the intervention of the Angolan army, in which the former President/Ruler Denis Sassou Nguesso was reinstated to Power. On the 5 June 1997 after A Sassou led-coup, Lissuoba is the first democratically elected President of the Republic of the Congo and served from August 31, 1992 to October 15, 1997, ordered that the Cocoye militia detain Sassou and under duress disarm the Cobra militia, which resulted in a Second Congo civil war. Fighting soon engulfed the whole city, with the Cobra, Cocoye and Ninja militias each having controlling areas they claim their own within the capital, the government then hired Ukrainian mercenaries to fly attack helicopters, later mobilizing them in a bombing campaign of Cobra-controlled areas, since those areas were densely populated, there was a high number casualties, combatants engaged in a lot of extortion and harassment of the civilian population, selecting their targets on the basis of ethnic group. On the 16 June, 1997 they was unsucessfully held talks between Lissouba and Sassou-Nguesso in Libreville, Gabon, which was organized with the arbitration of the United Nations, the European Union(EU), France and a some African countries. French soldiers and US Marine Corps troops present in the capital conducted a joint operation, evacuating 6,000 foreign citizens through the Brazzaville Airport as warring parties agreed to a three-day ceasefire in the area on the 17 June, 1997. During this same time Lissouba recieved support from Laurent Kabila, who was the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo by handing Lissouba hundreds of Soldier because Lissouba accuses Cobra of emplloying supporters of Sese Seko. Air strikes on Cocoye Between 11-12 October 1997, Angolan air force fighter jets conducted a number of air strikes on Cocoye positions within Brazzaville. On 16 October 1997 Cobra militia supported by tanks and a force of 1,000 Angolan troops cemented their control of Brazzaville, having ousted Lissouba two days earlier. Denis Sassou Nguesso assumed power on the following day, declaring himself president. He effectively incorporated the Cobra militia into the national army, without fully disbanding them. After capturing the capital, Cobra militiamen spread out over the city, detaining and executing dozens of enemy combatants and political opponents and looting their property. A parallel Angolan offensive on Pointe-Noire met with little resistance, as the majority of government troops surrendered. Driven outof Brazzevile, Cocoye and Ninja fighters regrouped and started clashes in Northern cities of Impfondo, Ouesso and Owando as well Pointe-Noire. In April 1988 Cocye insurgents seized the Moukoukoulou Hydroelctric dam situated in the Bouenza department killing various employees in the process and ceasing power supply to Pointe-Noire. On 14 November 1998 Ninja militants launched an all attack on Mindouli, killing 41 civilians, including six members of a local arbitration committee. On 18 December 1998 Cocoye rebels seized the town of Nkayi, conducting arbitrary execution of government officials and ethnic Mbochis; government forces regained control of the town three days later. Elements of the Chadian and Angolan armies were deployed to the areas of Bouenza, Niari and Lekoumou as well as the Pool department, aiming to counter increased rebel activity. On 16 December 1998 a band of 300 Ninja militants infiltrated the Bacongo and Makelekele neighborhoods of Brazzaville, starting clashes that lasted four days. The areas were targeted by heavy mortar and artillery shelling which caused widespread destruction, internally displacing 200,000 civilians. Widespread looting and summary executions were carried out by government forces following the conclusion of the engagement, which left at least 1000 people dead. In December 1999, amidst continuous government offensives, a total of 2,000 Ninja and Cocoye rebels surrendered to the authorities after signing a peace agreement with the government, officially ending the conflict. |

Meteor showers occur when dust or particles from asteroids or comets enter Earth's atmosphere at very high speed. Obiaks Blog gives you interesting information on Meteor shower, read, learn and enjoy, Thanks. Formation When they hit the atmosphere, meteors rub against air particles and create friction, heating the meteors. The heat vaporizes most meteors, creating what we call shooting stars, While there are stray bits of stuff hitting Earth from all directions, there also are regularly timed "meteor showers" when astronomers can make better predictions about how many meteors will hit the Earth, and from what direction. The key difference is that meteor showers occur when the Earth plows into the trail of particles left behind by a comet or asteroid. Depending on where the trail of particles falls in a particular year, meteor showers can be more or less intense. Astronomers sometimes even find new meteor showers, such as the case of the Camelopardalids in 2014. Initial predictions put the shower at up to 200 meteors per hour, but in reality, it ended up being a quiet shower for amateur astronomers. The shower became active after the debris trail of Comet 209P/LINEAR intersected with Earth. (The debris trail of comets can shift because of the influence of Jupiter, or other reasons.) Facts Most meteors become visible at around 60 miles (96.5 kilometers) up. Some large meteors splatter, causing a brighter flash called a fireball, which can often be seen during the day and heard up to 30 miles (48 km) away. On average, meteors can speed through the atmosphere at about 30,000 mph (48,280 kph) and reach temperatures of about 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit (1,648 degrees Celsius). Most meteors are very small, some as tiny as a grain of sand, so they disintegrate in the air. Larger ones that reach the Earth's surface are called meteorites and are rare, Whether an object breaks apart depends on its composition, speed and angle of entry. A faster meteor at an oblique angle (slanting rather than straight-on) suffers greater stress. Meteors made of iron withstand the stress better than those of stone. Even an iron meteor will usually break up as the atmosphere becomes denser, around 5 to 7 miles up. Impact with Earth When meteorites do hit the ground, their speed is roughly half what it was upon entry, and they blast out craters 12 to 20 times their size. Craters on Earth form much as they would on the moon or any rocky planet. Smaller objects create bowl-shaped craters. Larger impacts cause a rebound that creates a central peak; slipping along the rim forms terraces. The largest impacts form basins in which multiple rebounds form several inner peaks. Events of Meteor Showers Large meteors can explode above the surface, causing widespread damage from the blast and ensuing fire. This happened in 1908 over Siberia, in what's called the Tunguska event. On June 30, 1908, across hundreds of miles, witnesses saw a ball of fire streak through the sky, suggesting the meteor entered the atmosphere at an oblique angle. It exploded, sending out hot winds and loud noises and shook the ground enough to break windows in nearby villages. Small particles blown into the atmosphere lit the night sky for several days. No meteorite was ever found, and for years many scientists thought the devastation was caused by a comet. Now, the prevailing theory holds that a meteor exploded just above the surface. A similar event occurred over Chelyabinsk, Russia, when a 17-meter rock exploded 12 to 15 miles above the Earth's surface on Feb. 15, 2013, damaging buildings and injuring more than 1,000 people. According to a statement by Peter Brown of the University of Western Ontario in Canada, "The energy of the resulting explosion exceeded 470 kilotons of TNT" — 30 to 40 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima during World War II. Although the Russian event brought into focus the possible danger Earth could suffer from space rocks, most meteors don't cause nearly as much damage. Still, NASA and other entities keep careful track of all asteroids visible from Earth, and are actively engaged in discovering as many asteroids as possible — especially the ones that are larger and would pose more of a (theoretical) threat to Earth. Asteroid orbits are plotted and tracked to see if they will intersect with Earth in the future. While no imminently threatening object has been found, NASA continues the search and posts the results publicly on the Small Body Database Browser. In ancient times, objects in the night sky conjured superstition and were associated with gods and religion. But misunderstandings about meteors lasted longer than they did about most other celestial objects. Meteorites (the pieces that make it to Earth) were long ago thought to be cast down as gifts from angels. Others thought the gods were displaying their anger. As late as the 17th century, many believed they fell from thunderstorms (they were nicknamed "thunderstones" . Many scientists were skeptical that stones could fall from the clouds or the heavens, and often they simply didn't believe the accounts of people who claimed to have seen such things. In 1807, a fireball exploded over Connecticut, and several meteorites rained down. By then the first handful of asteroids had been discovered, and a new theory emerged suggesting meteorites were broken bits off asteroids or other planets. (A theory that still holds.) The largest meteorite recovered in the United States fell in a wheat field in southern Nebraska in 1948. Witnesses saw a giant fireball in the afternoon that some said was brighter than the sun. The meteorite was found buried 10 feet deep in the ground. It weighed 2,360 pounds. The most famous meteorite crater in the United States is misnamed Meteor Crater. It's in Arizona, and it's huge. The rim rises 150 feet from the surrounding plain, and the hole is 600 feet deep and nearly a mile wide. It was the first crater that was proven to be caused by a meteorite impact, which occurred between 20,000 and 50,000 years ago. Meteor showers to watch out for Meteors are often seen falling from the sky alone — one here, one there. But there are certain times in a year when dozens or even hundreds of meteors per hour will light up the sky, seemingly coming from one part of the sky, radiating in all directions, and falling toward Earth one after the other. Types of Meteor Showers There are several periodic meteor showers that astronomers and amateur observers wait for every year. Meteor showers are named after the constellations from where the shower appears to be coming from. For example, the Orionids appear to originate from the mighty Orion constellation, while Perseid meteors seem to be coming from the Perseus constellation. Leonids: The brightest and most impressive is the Leonid meteor shower, which can produce a meteor storm that showers the sky with thousands of meteors per minute at its peak. In fact, the term "meteor shower" was coined after astronomers' observed one of Leonids' most impressive displays in 1833. The Leonids occur every November, but the shower's most beautiful display happens at intervals of about 33 years, with the last one lighting Earth's sky in 2002; it is not expected to be repeated until 2028. Perseids: Another shower that is worth keeping awake for is the Perseid meteor shower, which is associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle, which takes 133 years to orbit the sun. Earth passes through the comet's orbit during the month of August every year. It is not as active as the Leonids, but it is the most widely watched meteor shower of the year, peaking on Aug. 12 with more than 60 meteors per minute. Orionids: The Orionid meteor shower produces meteors from Halley's comet, which orbits the sun every 75 to 76 years. The Orionid shower happens every October and can last for a week, treating patient observers to a show of 50 to 70 shooting stars per hour at its peak. Quadrantids: The Quadrantid meteor shower comes from the debris of an asteroid called 2003 EH1, which some astronomers think was part of a comet that broke apart centuries ago. The debris enters Earth's atmosphere in early January and offers astronomers and other observers a brief show. Geminids: Like the Quadrantids, the Geminid meteor shower also came from dust particles of an asteroid, this time a near-earth asteroid called 3200 Phaeton. Meteor showers are mostly from comets, so having an asteroid as parents make the Quadrantids and Geminids different from other meteor showers. The Geminids happen in December and spray up to 40 meteors per hour out of the Gemini constellation at its peak. Other meteor showers to watch out for are the Eta Aquarids, also remnants of Halley's comet, in May; and the Lyrids, which have been chronicled for more than 2,000 years, in late April. Best time and place to see meteor showers People living in the Northern Hemisphere are in the best position to observe the most beautiful meteor showers. For example, North America is right below the region of the sky where the January Quadrantids shower appears. A bright moon can dim the prospect of seeing a good meteor shower, drowning out all but the brightest meteors. Local light pollution dampens prospects, too, so the best place to view a meteor shower is from out in a rural location. Most meteor showers are best viewed in the pre-dawn hours, when the part of Earth you are standing on is facing the direction of Earth's orbit. It's like bugs hitting a car's windshield. In the late evening hours, on the other hand, the meteors are less frequent — loosely akin to bugs hitting a car's rear bumper. Best time of year for meteor showers Meteor showers can be seen at different times of the year depending on when Earth is going to pass through the comet's or asteroid's path. Some meteor showers happen annually; others only appear over a period of several years, while some of the best shows — meteor storms — happen just once or twice in a lifetime. Weather can also hamper a good view of meteor showers. A clear sky is a gift to night gazers, which is why meteor showers during the summer are more anticipated than those that fall in the winter months.

On Tuesday 08th August, 2017, a presidential aide (Lauretta Onochie) came forth and condemned Nigerians for demanding more details regarding the President's unfortunate circumstance. See her comments here. Here a a few things to note from her comments: - She claims it is insulting and outrageous to ask questions regarding the President's health status. - Onochie believes this can only happen in Nigeria. - Buhari has Private Rights. First of all, Nigerians are concerned about the dark cloud lingering over the president and the true nature of his health and naturally, questions are expected from friends and foe alike. Also, it is important to point out that Buhari's continuous stay abroad is at the taxpayer's expense and not his "private" pocket like any other private citizen and as a result, concerned Nigerians are keen on finding out just what a tangible chunk of the country's foreign reserve is being spent on. Whilst making the comments that took the country by surprise, Onochie made references to the United Kingdom where she allegedly comes from and claims such practices are unlikely. I would like to quickly refer her to less than two years ago when David Cameron resigned from his position as Prime minister simply because the country had voted to leave the EU which he was in support of staying. Is an act like this obtainable in Nigeria? Nigerians are not necessarily demanding to know the exact details of the president's health challenges but to know whether he can still perform the duties he was elected for. In addition, Vanguard and other Nigerian media recently disclosed that it currently costs around £4,000.00 daily to keep the Presidential Jet parked at its current location in a British airport and seeing that it has been parked there for over 90 days, that's already over £360,000.00. Although the presidency has refuted this claim on the basis that planes carrying heads of states are usually exempt from such charges, they are also expecting that the fees would be around £1000 daily if the waiver is not granted. On the basis of the points detailed above, here are a few questions for Special Assistant Lauretta Onochie and any other Nigerian who is of the opinion that our President is "currently more of a private citizen" and believes Nigerians should stay mute on the subject. - How many Private Citizens have had a Presidential Jet parked in a London Airport for more than 90 days running? - How many Private Citizens have racked up over £360,000.00 (over #150,000,000.00 Naira) in airplane parking fees? - Has the President stopped being accountable to the people? - Is it wrong for taxpayers to demand answers regarding how their money is spent? - Which private citizen has a presidential suite at Abuja house in London? The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the commander in chief of the armed forces not of the people. Where civilians are concerned, the President is a public servant accountable to taxpayers and the general electorate. President Muhammadu Buhari swore an oath and made a promise to Nigerians to uphold the laws of the land and perform the duties expected of a President to the best of his abilities and although many may argue he is not currently breaking any laws in his current situation, others may also point out that since his illness is preventing him from fulfilling that oath and the associated promises, a permanent transfer of power to the current Acting President may be the right move to make. Regardless of what action the President takes, it is important for his aides such as Lauretta Onochhie to be sensitive to the plight and demands of Nigerians because at the end of the day, our dear President is answerable to the people. http://news.obiaks.com/opinion/170809042738/President-Buhari-is-a-Private-citizen;-The-Cluelessness-of-some-Political-Appointees.html |
