You need it but due to the uncertainties of visa it's not advised to pay. Also, there's an option to pay when you arrive to Germany. Use Dr. Walter Educare.

I don't think it is compulsory. I used my primary school testimonial and they didn't ask for my BECE Certificate at all.

Both Studienkolleg and German intensive language courses fall under the “preparatory studies” category (Vorbereitungszwecke), which is accepted for national visas.

Kindly email the embassy asap to clarify if they will accept it for this visa category. If not, you can reschedule your appointment to a latter date and get the proper admission letter
If you don't do this, your application will be tagged incomplete on that day and you would have waited for nothing

Category A was for people with scholarships while category B was for long term visa in respective of the degree

I know someone that are category was Sprakurs or so and she went with bachelor's admission, she said the V.O just asked her for admission letter and didn't mention anything about her category. Though she was rejected based on the grounds that, she didn't appeal her rejection for family reunion in 2021, and she also fumbled her interview cause she didn't do well in her aptitude test.
