Examples of sports betting websites you can try is bet9ja, betking e.t.c

Online surveys
An increasingly popular way for students to make money is to fill out online surveys in their spare time. Research companies are always recruiting new members worldwide to answer surveys and test new products.

For a few minutes of form filling, you can make a couple of quid which is paid as cash or rewards. You can bag up to £3 ($5) for some surveys!

Paid for searching the web
Interested in earning cash for doing what you already do online? This has to be one of the easiest methods of making money online without really any effort or change in your behaviour.
This innovative idea by Qmee.com rewards you for searching in Google, Bing or Yahoo. You just install a simple add-on to your browser and when you conduct a search there may be a few sponsored results alongside your normal search.

Online market trading
Whilst this isn’t necessarily an easy way to make money, investing in stock markets can be lucrative if you learn to do it properly and safely. By the same token, you may suffer significant losses if you don’t take it seriously.
Today there is no need to fund the yachts of Wolf of Wall Street style stock brokers. You can do it all yourself with the help of online market trading platforms.

Sell clothes on eBay
ebay-logo
Everyone’s best friend when it comes to getting rid of junk is eBay. Online auctions are a sure-fire way to turn that sleeveless jacket (which came in and out of fashion in a week) into hard cash.

Some eBay sellers look at trends and try to predict what will be big ahead of the market. If you are good and don’t mind taking a risk then you can buy early in bulk and sell on when the craze hits.

YouTube videos
According to recent stats we now watch more videos on YouTube than searches on Google. And with the recently introduced YouTube Partner Program you can now profit from making and uploading videos. You will receive a percentage of the advertising revenue collected per 1,000 views.

Depending on how successful you are (virality, subscriber base and topic) you can make a lot of money, and there are plenty of stories every week of more and more YouTubers making it their career.

Nairaland / General / Craziest Guinness World Records by freeflex: 6:09pm On Apr 06, 2020
Many of us love to exceed our achievements — whether we are gunning for an Olympic world record or for our personal records done straight from our backyards. It’s a part of our nature to push ourselves to the limit. Many people are trying to outdo other people (and also themselves) so they can be included in the Guinness Book of World Records. With each passing year new records break the old ones and the standards are very high. However, in this gallery we are not compiling who is just the tallest or the shortest. We also list some of the wackiest, silliest, and weirdest records tallied in Guinness’ history (we also include one amazing feat that was rejected by Guinness).

Want to be famous in the Guinness books? Apply at http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/ and attempt to set a new world record!

World’s Shortest Man
Khagendra Thapa Magar is a man from Nepal. A primordial dwarf, he measures 2 feet and 2 inches tall, and weighs only 5.5 kilos (12 pounds 2 ounces).

Well, Khagendra is formerly the shortest man in the world. Called “Little Buddha,” he was also the shortest teenager in the world when he dethroned the Colombian dwarf Edward Nino Hernandez in 2010. However, he eventually lost to 1’10” tall Junrey Balawing of the Philippines who took the title of the Shortest Man in the World in 2011.

World’s Shortest Man

The Most Surfers on One Wave
Surfers in Cape Town, South Africa succeeded in their attempt to break the record of “The Most Surfers on One Wave” in 2009. An estimated 120 surfers rode on the wave in Cape Town’s Muizenberg beach. The record was previously held by Brazil in 2008.

The Most Surfers on One Wave
Largest Commercially Available Hamburger
Check out this mammoth burger at Mallie’s Sports Grill and Bar in in Southgate, Michigan, USA. The restaurant’s “Absolutely Ridiculous Burger” weighed 84.3 kilos by the time it was unveiled in 2009, making it the biggest commercially available burger ever. Meaning, it’s part of the restaurant’s menu, which you can order for a hefty price tag of $400.

Largest Commercially Available Hamburger

Largest Rubber Band Ball
You may love to mount on this giant rubber band ball and jump with it! It was made by Joe Waul in the USA and was measured in Lauderhill, Florida in the USA in 2008.

A total of around 700,000 rubber bands of all sizes were used in the creation of this giant ball, which Waul began making back in 2004. It measured 6 feet and 7 inches high, and 25 feet and 4 inches in diameter.

Largest Rubberband Ball

Most Spoons On Face
In 2009 Aaron Caissie from Canada was declared as the person with the Most Spoons on Face with 17. But he was eventually beaten by Dalibor Jablanovic from Serbia, with 31 spoons on his face; that certain record was tabbed in September 2013. Jablanovic remains unbeaten in this feat.

Most Spoons On Face
Longest Nose
A Turkish man named Mehmet Ozyurek has been confirmed as having the longest nose ever recorded on a living person. Born in 1949, Ozyurek’s smeller measured 3.5 inches long when it was last measured in March 2010 in Rome, Italy.

Longest Nose
Most Concrete Blocks Broken While Holding A Raw Egg
It seems no one else will dare to overtake Germany’s Joe Alexander from the throne as someone with the “Most Concrete Blocks Broken While Holding a Raw Egg.” This Hamburg native smashed concrete blocks arranged in three single stacks of eight consecutively while holding a raw egg in the hand he used to break the blocks. After the blocks had been broken, the egg amazingly remained intact. This record was tallied by Guinness in November 2010 in celebration of Guinness World Records Day.

Most Concrete Blocks Broken While Holding A Raw Egg

Most Snails On Face
That is a really silly achievement, but an achievement nonetheless! In 2009, Eleven-year-old Fin Kehler from Utah, USA had 43 slimy snails placed on his face for a total of 10 seconds. He broke the previous record of 36 in 2007.

Most Snails On Face

Most Insured Hair
NFL football player Troy Polamalu has proven that hair is indeed a person’s crowning glory. Apart from football achievements, the stalwart from the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL) is also famous for his voluminous, curly locks. His big hair enables him to be easily spotted on the field. In 2010, Polamalu’s hair was insured for $1 million with the insurance firm Lloyd’s of London by Procter and Gamble (P&G).

Polamalu’s hair measured three feet long at the time of the insurance; he did not cut it in deference to his Samoan ancestors. Presently he is the endorser of Head and Shoulders shampoo, one of P&G’s brands, and has appeared in five commercials for the product.

Most Insured Hair

Longest Time Spent Buried Alive
In 2004, magician Zdenek Zahradka from the Czech Republic spent 10 days buried alive in his coffin — and survived. He beat the previous world record for being buried alive for four days.

However, Guinness no longer lists records for the longest time buried alive, and discourages people to set such a record. Needless to say, Zahradka’s feat was rejected by Guinness.

Longest Time Spent Buried Alive
Tallest Man
At present, the tallest living man goes to Sultan Kosen from Ankara, Turkey. The part-time farmer was measured at 8 feet 3 inches and the measurement was conducted in February 2011. Kosen beat Xi Shun from China, who measured 7 feet 9 inches tall.

Apart from being the tallest living person, Kosen also holds the record of having the largest hands of a living person, with each hand measuring 11.22 inches from the wrist up to the tip of the middle finger.

Nairaland / General / Everything You Need To Know About 5G network by freeflex: 5:57pm On Apr 06, 2020
5G is the fifth generation of wireless communications technologies supporting cellular data networks. Large scale adoption began in 2019 and today virtually every telecommunication service provider in the developed world is upgrading its infrastructure to offer 5G functionality.

What are the other generations of mobile networks?
A: The other mobile network generations are 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G.

1G delivered analog voice.
2G introduced digital voice (e.g., CDMA).
3G brought mobile data (e.g., CDMA2000).
4G LTE ushered in the era of mobile Internet.
What are the benefits of 5G?
A: 5G is a new kind of network: a platform for innovations that will not only enhances today’s mobile broadband services, but will also expand mobile networks to support a vast diversity of devices and services and connect new industries with improved performance, efficiency, and cost. 5G will redefine a broad range of industries with connected services from retail to education, transportation to entertainment, and everything in between. We see 5G as technology as transformative as the automobile and electricity.

Through a landmark 5g econonmy study, we found that 5G’s full economic effect will be realized across the globe by 2035, supporting a wide range of industries and potentially producing up to $12 trillion worth of goods and services.

The study also revealed that the 5G value chain (OEMs, operators, content creators, app developers and consumers) could alone generate up to $3.5 trillion in overall aggregate revenue by 2035 and support up to 22 million jobs, or more than one job for every person in Beijing, China. Of course, there are many emerging and new applications that are yet to be completely defined or even known today. That is why only time will tell what the full “5G effect” is going to be.

Q: What services and use cases do you see for 5G?
A: In general, 5G use cases can be broadly categorized into three main types of connected services:

Enhanced Mobile Broadband: 5G will not only make our smartphones better, but it will also usher in new immersive experiences, such as VR and AR, with faster, more uniform data rates, lower latency, and cost-per-bit.
Mission-Critical communications: 5G will enable new services that can transform industries with ultra-reliable/available, low latency links—such as remote control of critical infrastructure, vehicles, and medical procedures.
Massive Internet of Things: 5G will seamlessly connect a massive number of embedded sensors in virtually everything through the ability to scale down in data rates, power and mobility to provide extremely lean/low-cost solutions.
A defining capability of 5G is also the design for forward compatibility—the ability to flexibly support future services that are unknown today.
Q: How fast is 5G?
A: Per IMT-2020 requirements, 5G is expected to deliver peak data rates up to 20 Gbps. Qualcomm Technologies’ first 5G NR modem, the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X50 5G modem, is designed to achieve up to 5 Gbps in downlink peak data rate.

But 5G is more than about just how “fast” it is. In addition to higher peak data rates, 5G will provide much more network capacity by expanding into new spectrum, such as millimeter wave (mmWave). 5G will also deliver much lower latency for a quicker immediate response, and an overall more uniform user experience so that the data rates stay consistently high even when users are moving around. Moreover, the new 5G NR (New Radio) mobile network will be backed up by Gigabit LTE coverage foundation, which will provide ubiquitous Gigabit-class connectivity.

How much is 5G?
A: 5G doesn’t have a price tag yet.

A key 5G objective is to lower the cost-per-bit (data cost) compared to 4G LTE, by leveraging new and wider spectrum in higher bands including the mmWave range.

This could potentially allow mobile operators to continue offer unlimited data plans even with increasing data consumption. This can also enable new use cases and make more applications economically viable for broader adoption in a 5G network. For example, 5G can help to proliferate immersive augmented and virtual reality, which is possible today with 4G LTE but may be limited by network capacity and data costs

What is the difference between 4G and 5G?
A: There are several differences between 4G vs 5G:

5G is a unified platform that is more capable than 4G
5G uses spectrum better than 4G
5G is faster than 4G
5G has more capacity than 4G
5G has lower latency than 4G
5G needs more investment in infrastructure as it has higher frequency than 4G so the coverage will decrease significantly hence more no of towers required which will make it unfeasible as 4G Macro cells gives coverage of 2kms and 5G coverage is just 500 to 800 metres.
5G has speed in terms of 5–10Gbps which will easily fill the memory space of smartphones in few seconds and huge size of battery(10000 mAh) is required and heat dissipation will also increase significantly
mmWave version of 5G needs Small cells as line of sight between tower and cell phone is required which will be burden to Telecos and Consumers
5G is practically unfeasible for now and it’s not an innovation but an incremental improvement over 4G by increasing frequency.

Wi-Fi is already present as a better Alternative to 5G which is way cheaper and best for Home broadband ,reliable and high speed. Coverage & Speed of both are same.

Secondly VoLTE technology is used for Voice Calls or 2G,3G is used for voice calls there is no such standard for 5G for voice calls till now, there are also limited VoLTE phones in world.

Nairaland / General / Approved Cut Off Mark For All Tertiary Institutions In Nigeria by freeflex: 12:34pm On Apr 03, 2020
The 19th Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria has approved 160 and above as the national minimum benchmark for admission for the year 2020 into public universities. The board also adopted 120 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Polytechnics and the college of Education.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) pegged the minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities for the 2020/2021 academic year, Institutions Approved 160 for Universities and 120 for Polytechnics. The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, (UTME) 2019 Jamb Cut Off Marks for All Nigeria Institutions has been released! The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) pegged the minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities for the 2020/2021 academic year at 160.

For public polytechnic, 120 minimum UTME score was approved.

While 110 UTME score was approved as the least score for admission into private polytechnic.

He said, “What JAMB has done is to recommend; we will only determine the minimum, whatever you determine as your admission cut-off mark is your decision.

“The Senate and academic boards of universities should be allowed to determine their cut-off marks.”

The registrar said the board discovered over 17,160 illegally admitted students by higher institutions, adding that the body had regularised some of them.

He said, “30 percent of those in higher institutions do not take JAMB or have less than the cut-off marks.

“The admission process is now automated with the direct involvement of the registrar of JAMB for final approval.

“We have agreed to regularise admissions that were done under the table this year. From next year, we will not accept anything like that.”

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, described as a mistake the Federal Government’s ban on tests conducted by universities after the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations.

He explained that post-UTME was banned because it had become an avenue for corruption.

Adamu, however, encouraged higher institutions to conduct aptitude tests for candidates seeking admission and pegged the fee for the test/Post UTME screening at Two thousand naira (N2,000.00) only.

Nairaland / General / Past Questions And Answers In Post-utme by freeflex: 12:26pm On Apr 03, 2020
The importance of Post UTME cannot be overemphasized. Every bit of your success lies with your understanding of the need to study with its past questions. Judiciously, studying and ransacking a copy post JAMB screening exercise is all the right preparation you need to gain admission this year.

As an education and scholarship site, our reporters across campuses interviewed students on the relevance of Post UTME past questions.

“I am currently studying science laboratory technology. Gaining admission wasn’t easy anyways. In my first attempt, I had read all the textbooks within my reach but guess what I failed woefully. So, it’s not like I didn’t study, I did but I read the wrong materials. Last year, Ayomide gave me a copy of Yabatech’s past questions and answers.

I didn’t want to stay at home anymore, so I read all within my reach especially the gift from my friend. I finished my work before the time elapsed. And, as I left the hall I knew my result will come out great. Yes, it did.”

They will be trapped and will have to spill to escape.
BOILED – Take the eggs from someone’s refrigerator and hard-boil them. Then put them back where you found them. Can work well when camping, only do a few if you want breakfast!
SNAKE! – All you need is a rubber snake and some fishing line. Tie the fishing line around the snake and then attach the other end of the line to the inside of a cupboard or anything that opens and closes. Set it up so that when they open the door/cupboard the snake will jump out. Or simply set it up to drag across the lounge floor while everyone is watching TV!
WEIGHT ISSUE – If you can get the exact same clothes as the target except get them a size smaller – Swap with the original! Another favorite is to cut the cotton of the back seam in someone’s jeans a few times for split pants! Be prepared to replace or FIX though!
OH DEAR – Fold the flat sheet on the bed double and tuck in securely on the sides, when the person get into bed they can’t go further than half way!
SPRAY – Stick some duct tape on the nozzle of a kitchen sink or bathroom tap – leave a little gap towards the front where someone will stand! Old but it works every time!
DUAL REMOTE – Spend the money to get a second matching or dual remote. Change channels while they are watching. The secret to this prank is to not overuse it. If you use it in small doses you can carry this one on for months not just on April Fools Day.
FAKE CAKE – Take a round car-washing sponge, or a piece of craft foam, and decorate it with cake frosting, sprinkles, etc. Then try not to laugh when the victim struggles to cut themselves some cake. This one gets 5 STARS for Good Pranks!
EGGS – Try this prank on someone who drinks Guinness or any other beer that is difficult to see thru. All you have to do is crack open an egg (only the yellow part) and drop it in their drink when they aren’t paying attention. Last sip… Thought these were Good PRANKS? We feel sick… enough said.

Nairaland / General / Coruna Virus- Symptoms, Prevention And Treatment by freeflex: 12:42pm On Mar 31, 2020
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing. You can protect yourself by washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell.

Symptoms
People may be sick with the virus for 1 to 14 days before developing symptoms. The most common symptoms of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. More rarely, the disease can be serious and even fatal. Older people, and people with other medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), maybe more vulnerable to becoming severely ill.

Nairaland / General / All Jambites- Take Note Of This Information As You Await Your Post Utme. by freeflex: 3:41pm On Mar 27, 2020
During this period of isolation because of this pandemic disease in the country, its of great importance for all jambites to bear in mind that they must do whatever it takes for them to be prepared for their post Utme.

Do your best not to be taking unaware about your post Utme exam. passing jamb alone does not guarantee admission so do your very best to get all the information you need.

However for those that have little idea on how to go about it, I will try my best to outline somethings to expect and how you can prepare for it.

Here is a break down of what and what is vital for you to secure admission into a Nigerian University.

– O’ Level – You WASSCE result really speak much about your chances of gaining admission, as it serves as the number one pillar you must build very well before thinking of applying for admission into any school. I’ll say your O’ Level will determine you gaining admission to study your most preferred course. It takes 50% out of the admission quota, I.e the requirements. You must have at least Credit in all your compulsory subjects before thinking of gaining admission or else, I’ll suggest you try NECO because you won’t be admitted if you have anything lesser than C (Credit).

– Post UTME Screening result – This just covers 30% out of the admission quota. You need to pass this screening exam too. Who knows if the school decided to use their own grading system.

– JAMB/ UTME score – Your UTME result covers 20% of the admission quota of your school because JAMB was established just to know how well secondary school students are prepared for the University level.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR EXAM:

1. Don’t make reading your hobby – Never in your life make reading your hobby as it can affect you in the long run. You rather study to assimilate and understand whatever you’re reading. Never read to crime meanings word for word. Stare at your book if you can’t study, and whenever you’re in an exam sit, you’ll easily remember.

2. Get Exams Preparation Materials – If you want to pass Post Utme exams easily, you need to get materials that will help you learn a topic and understand. Materials such as Textbooks, past questions, and answers, booklet, e-books e.t.c

No matter how hard you study without past question or textbooks, you’ll fail because textbooks and PQ are very good materials that will help you to pass any exam easily.

3. Reduce your time on social media – Try reducing the hours you use on social media and use it to study. Avoid social networks such as Facebook, WhatsApp, 2go and Instagram for now because your Post-Utme exam is near and you need to study.
