Song writing is an essential aspect of making good music . In Nigeria today, a lot of up and coming musicians, and some supposed A-list musicians neglect this yearning truth. Hence, a large number of songs from these musicians today lack proper melodic structure and adequate lyrical composition to capture prospective listeners.
As a song writer and a music critic , I pay proper attention to contemporary Nigerian music. Few new generation music artists in Nigeria have brought into realisation the reality of what a well written song could do to the listening audience. E.g Burnaboy, Fireboy et al.
Now the begging question is why are song writers not given as much credit as they deserve?
