Singer 9ice, has opened up on his career, relationship with former label mate, Olamide and producer, ID Cabasa.
Speaking with Saturday Beats, 9ice talked about his hit song Gongo Aso revealing he never knew it would be that successful.
In his words:
“Although people believe that ‘Gongo Aso’ is my best album, to me, my album, ‘Tradition,’ still remains my best album in terms of content and lyrics. What you believe would sell might not sell but it does not mean that it is not good. I never knew ‘Gongo Aso’ would be a successful album. In fact, that was not even the title of the album. The initial title of the album was ‘My dictionary, your diary’; but when the song became very popular, ID Cabassa suggested that we make the song the title of the album. The song, ‘Gongo Aso’ was not supposed to be part of the album. I had finished recording the album when the song came to me and Cabassa said we should destroy all the promo copies we had made and promote the song. We promoted it and the song went viral. It was never planned.”
On his plans to bring home the Gramy as stated in his Street Credibility track, he said:
“I am still working on bringing the Grammy to Nigeria. Abraham Lincoln tried several times before he became the president of the US while Buhari tried about four times before he became president. As long as I am still doing music, I can still get the Grammy.”
On his relationship with Olamide and ID Cabasa:
“There is no issue between myself” Olamide and Reminisce. The reason I was not at one of Olamide’s concerts was because I was not in the country and that was the same reason I missed Reminisce album listening party. During the last Sallah, I was at Reminisce’ house and that was where I ate Sallah meat. It is just that our schedules are tighter now. I was on Olamide’s first album and he was on my last album. I have so many songs with Olamide that are yet to be released. I also feature in about four songs with Reminisce that have not yet been released. I am on his recent album. The only album Reminisce has pushed out and I was not there was ‘Baba Afusat’ and that is because I travelled out of the country. I have been on all his albums. It is just that I have a busy schedule now. Imagine if we want to have a Code Tunes concert as big as all its artistes are now; don’t you think it will be a big budget that would require lots of time to take Olamide out of his terrain, it has to be worth it for him to come and participate. Those are some of the factors. It is not as if someone is fighting or angry with anybody. There is nothing like that,” 9ice said.

2017 WAEC May/June Examinations Timetable Now Out!!!

The 2017/2018 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) timetable for the May/June examinations (for school candidates) is out.

The 2017 WAEC May/June examination has been scheduled to begin on Monday, 20th February and ends on Monday, 15th May, 2017.
We have published some WAEC syllabus that candidates preparing for WAEC would find as study aid.


We have decided to share some subjects scheme and sample questions to assist 2017 WAEC May/June participants to prepare and have excellent grades.

E-Money led Five Star Music has released a statement on the going drama they have with their former artiste Harrysong who left the label last December.
The label in its statement reveals Harrysong begged them to sign him from his former label, Question Mark, they had to pay N5,000,000 settlement and he owes the label 3 music albums.

“It has become both imperative and necessary to state our position on the ongoing misguided and fallacious news making the rounds in the media between our esteemed record label and Mr. Harry Tare Okri. Sometime in 2008 when Mr. Harry first approached our record label for a music contract, we immediately declined the request when we found out that he had a subsisting contract with one Mr. Kevin Luciano of ‘Question Mark Entertainment Label’. All efforts then by Mr. Harry to influence our management proved abortive as our position was maintained on grounds of equity, fairness and professionalism.
“For further avoidance of doubts on the true facts of the present situation, our management has decided to officially set the records straight, because of negative and pervasive influence being foisted on the psyche of our numerous and well meaning fans. Our first encounter with Mr. Harry was sometime in 2008 when he approached our management for a music contract. As stated above, according to our findings at that time, his contract with ‘Question Mark Entertainment Record Label’ was still subsisting and valid. Obviously we declined when we found out that Mr. Harry’s plans were ill orchestrated against his employers, by walking out on them without fulfilling the obligations clearly contained in his running contract with them. When Harry’s employers (Question Mark Entertainment) got wind of his frantic efforts to desert his contract, a stern and official public statement was issued against Mr. Harry and a certain clause establishing his existing contract was clearly published for full consumption by the general public.”
“We opened preliminary discussions with him but demanded an official document from his former employers relieving him of any obligation or liability with regards to his contract with them. Our move to do things right and professionally with Mr. Harry earned us a N20m suit from Mr. Kevin Luciano of Question Mark Entertainment (Records are there for confirmation). We were joined as co-defendants with Mr. Harry. Juxtaposing the above with what is going on now, it is quite unfortunate because “Good intention counts as much as good actions, and the person seeking to do good is as good as someone who actually does it. Knowing the vulnerability of Mr. Harry on the impending legal suit, we solicited the help of certain well respected individuals in the music industry to wade into the matter, one of which was our dear veteran Daddy Showkey. Mr. Luciano having found out our intention from inception to act in good faith, agreed to withdraw his suit against Mr. Harry and our company But, not without consequential and settlement fees N5m. We paid this amount solely without Mr. Harry contributing a dime!”
“Because we are known for running our affairs professionally and legally, we signed a three-year contract with Mr. Harry and certain conditions and obligations were specifically and properly spelled out apart from the terms of the contract. Most important of these were his obligations to our music label, which amongst others include: That he must deliver at least, three (3) full music albums on or before the expiration of the first term of his three year contract, otherwise the label solely reserves the right either to rescind or extend the contract. These conditions were never met.
“While in the employment of the Five Star Music Label, he must not engage himself in anyway whatsoever, whether directly, by proxy or through a third party in any music or recording business other than that of Five Star Music. This condition was also repeatedly breached as Mr. Harry has been releasing music, going on tours locally and internationally without our consent or paying the agreed percentage to the label,” the statement read.

When Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri shared a

cause an avalanche of negative reactions from
