The Circle Mall in Lagos was full of excitement and anticipation during the premiere night of LAKATABU.

This is the latest film by famous Nollywood actor and filmmaker Odunlade Adekola.

Circle Mall in Lekki Penninsula area turned into a place of glamour and artistic excellence.

The weather was perfect—warm with a gentle breeze carrying the faint smell of the nearby Atlantic Ocean, mixed with aromas from food stalls.

Also, the open-air courtyard of the mall was an ideal setting for the event.

With twinkling fairy lights on the trees and elegant red carpets leading to the central pavilion where the main event happened.

Insights From Stars In LAKATABU
Talking to some of the main actors at the premiere, IBrandtv learned interesting things about making and promoting movies in Nollywood.

Actor Odunlade Adekola was very enthusiastic about the teamwork that made LAKATABU possible.

“It’s a story close to my heart,” he said.

“Seeing it come to life on the big screen with such an amazing cast is a dream come true.”

Furthermore, the actors spoke about the intense preparation required for their roles.

Character portrayal in Nollywood, they explained, is more than just acting; it requires truly understanding the character.

Furthermore, Veteran actor Femi Adebayo, who has a key role in LAKATABU stressed the need for authenticity.

“Every gesture, every expression must connect with the audience. It’s about making it believable.”

Promotions And Challenges
The topic of movie promotions also came up frequently. With the Nigerian film industry growing exponentially, effective promotion is crucial.

Social media has become a powerful tool, bridging the gap between filmmakers and their audience.

However, challenges persist, particularly in terms of funding and resource allocation for marketing.

“Promotions are as critical as production,” Adekola pointed out.

“Without visibility, even the best film can go unnoticed.

“We are constantly innovating to capture and retain audience interest.”

Impact Of Government And Health Issues
The conversation inevitably turned to the influence of government policies on the Nigeria Guild Association (NGA) and the broader entertainment industry.

Many actors voiced their concerns about what they called ‘insufficient support’ from the government.

“We need more infrastructure and funding,” said Gabriel Afolayan, another prominent actor.

“The potential of Nollywood is immense, but it needs the right kind of support to flourish.”

Health issues within the entertainment industry were also a point of discussion.

The rigours of filmmaking can take a toll on mental and physical health. Actor Allwell Ademola spoke candidly about the need for a comprehensive health care system for actors.

“We often work under extreme conditions, and there’s a lack of proper health care provision for entertainers. It’s something that needs urgent attention.”

The Highlights Of LAKATABU
The premiere of LAKATABU was more than just an unveiling of a new film; it was a celebration of the vibrancy and resilience of Nollywood.

The atmospheric charm of Circle Mall set the perfect stage for a night of glamour, insightful conversations, and a collective acknowledgment of the challenges and triumphs in the industry.

As the night drew to a close, the lingering excitement among the attendees was palpable.

LAKATABU promises to be another milestone in Odunlade Adekola’s illustrious career, a testament to the power of storytelling and the relentless spirit of Nigerian cinema.

Health / 4 Reasons Men Don’t Talk About Their Mental Health by Frontlindigital: 10:17am On Jun 19
Mental health is a vital aspect of our overall well-being, and seeking help when struggling is a sign of strength, not weakness.

However, despite this, many men find it challenging to open up about their mental health.

The stigma surrounding mental illness, societal expectations, and personal beliefs can all contribute to men suffering in silence.

In fact, research shows that men are less likely than women to seek help for mental health issues, and are more likely to die by suicide.

It’s time to break the silence and understand why men find it hard to talk about their mental health. Here are 4 reasons why:

1. Fear Of Being Seen As Weak
Many men think that talking about their feelings makes them seem weak or vulnerable. They believe they need to be strong and silent.

2. Societal Expectations
Men are often taught to be tough and masculine. This can make it hard for them to open up about their emotions.

3. Fear Of Being Judged
Men worry that others will judge them or think differently of them if they share their feelings.

4. Lack Of Emotional Expression
Men are often not taught how to express their emotions in a healthy way. This can make it hard for them to talk about their feelings.

By understanding these reasons, we can work to create a safe and supportive environment where men feel comfortable opening up about their mental health.

Let’s break the silence and start talking!

The premiere of “Muri&KO” at FilmHouse, Palms Hall was not just a celebration of Biodun Stephen’s new film, it was a star-studded event.

At the movie premiere, there was a passionate discussion about the government’s contentious decision to ban the portrayal of vices such as Money Ritual, Ritual Killing, Tobacco, Tobacco Products, Nicotine Product Promotion and Glamorization Display in Movies.

This policy could redefine Nollywood and its socio-economic impact on Nigeria.

Diverse Opinions From Nollywood Stars
Jaiye Kuti, a veteran actress, supported the government’s stance, emphasising filmmakers’ responsibility to promote positive values, particularly for the younger generation.

However, In contrast, Eniola Ajao passionately defended creative freedom, arguing that storytelling should reflect real-life experiences and provoke meaningful conversations.

Kunle Remi offered a balanced perspective, calling for a middle ground where regulation and artistic expression coexist.

Emem Ufot also supported the government, advocating for higher standards in Nollywood content to contribute positively to society.

Impact on Nollywood and Nigeria
Despite the debate, the “Muri&KO” premiere was a success, showcasing Biodun Stephen’s directorial prowess.

Also, the film received an enthusiastic reception, but the night’s discussions highlighted a critical crossroads for the industry.

The implications of this debate extend beyond entertainment, and potentially influencing Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.

Stricter policies might attract a different audience demographic and impact other sectors positively, while overly restrictive measures could stifle creativity and limit industry growth.

A Catalyst for Change
“Muri&KO” has not only captivated audiences but also sparked a crucial conversation about Nollywood’s future, positioning the film as a catalyst for change in the industry.

Ileya celebration is one Nigerians and Muslims at large always looking forward to. The Yorubas from Nigeria refer to this festival as “Ileya” in their local language.

Eid-el-Adha begins on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. The festival lasts for three days and occurs at the conclusion of the annual Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca.

Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid al-Adha, not simply those undertaking the hajj, which for most Muslims is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence.

The significance of the Eid-el-Adha festival is to commemorate Prophet Abraham’s willingness to obey God when he was asked to sacrifice his only son.

To honour this great act of sacrifice, Muslims observe this day by slaughtering an animal (usually a sheep) and then offering much of its meat in charity to poor people.

The sacrifice symbolizes obedience to Allah, and its distribution to others is an expression of generosity, one of the five pillars of Islam.

Over the years, rams, goats, and sheep have always been in high demand in markets during the Ileya season for households and Islam faithfuls for charity.

Ileya As Usual?
However, the Ileya celebration this year may not be business as usual as Nigeria’s economic woes are casting a shadow on the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations.

High inflation, weak currency, and rising living costs are making it tough for people to afford the animals traditionally sacrificed during this important Islamic holiday.

In addition, this economic strain affects not only purchasing power but also charitable activities associated with Eid al-Adha.
