THE GIRL I MET VII

"I wonder what she meant by 'A bit too late?' I was curious to find out, but my primary concern was getting the answer to my question.

I stood there, filled with anticipation, looking slightly perplexed yet determined. Now that the decision had been made, I was prepared to see it through till the very end.

As I remained silent, observing their exchanged glances and laughter, I contemplated giving up. Maybe I was reaching for something beyond my grasp, and perhaps I should just be content with my job. It was something I genuinely desired and would benefit my life and aspirations.

Just as I was about to leave, Ciara called out to me. Her expression had grown more serious as she uttered, 'We understand your desires and thoughts, but it's not guaranteed that we share the same ones.' I felt even more bewildered at that moment.

'We are often confused with each other, so you'll need to prove yourself to determine who you truly encountered at the gathering. We'll arrange three dates with you, and if you correctly identify the person you met afterward, you'll receive the entire story. However, if you guess incorrectly, you may lose both what you seek and your job,' she concluded.

At this point, I wanted to tell her that I was quite interested in knowing, but simultaneously, I was deeply concerned about my job. It held significant importance for me."

"I'm going to look like a coward if I back out," I pondered silently, realizing that this wasn't what I had originally wanted. How can I extricate myself from this situation? What approach would David take?

Since I'm already here, I suppose I'll employ one of David's principles: "Never reveal weakness," he used to say. I adjusted my posture and approached her table, taking a quick glance at each of their faces.

"Alright, I think I understand the general idea. I'll need to provide you with a response before I leave work today, though. Is that acceptable?" I replied, stealing another glance at the group.

I sensed a subtle approval in their expressions, but it was difficult to be certain at that moment. I stood up and exited her office, aware of their unwavering stares.

Although I was relieved to have escaped the immediate situation, I couldn't shake the feeling of their gazes piercing through me as I walked away. I quickened my pace as soon as I stepped outside, eager to find solace in the tranquility of the nearby lounge.

"What a chaotic day. Why did I even agree to this?" I lamented. Before things spiral out of control, and considering I have only a few hours left before leaving work for the day, I need to come up with a suitable response for them. I made my way back to my office and picked up the phone to call David.

How would David counter this?

THE GIRL I MET VI

"I couldn't have answered differently, even if I went through the situation again," I thought to myself as I left Ciara's office. That question came out of nowhere, or so I believed. They seemed so carefree.

I needed to call David and thank him. He always told me that complimenting and affirming women can make a big impact. Who would have guessed that simply saying, "No man wouldn't like her," could save me from ruining my chance with her?

Speaking of which, I still can't shake the image of the person I saw at that gathering until I meet Kiara. It has been a crazy week, from seeing her, to the accident, and now discovering she is a triplet.

***

Monday arrived quicker than expected. I just need to own this week, work diligently, and figure out which girl is meant for me. I thought I could move on, but over the weekend, she stayed on my mind. At this point, in my imagination and dreams, we've become grandparents.

This time, I felt more sure of myself, ready to face Tiara. I had come to the conclusion that she was the one I had seen before, especially considering how she kept stealing glances at me in Ciara's office. I felt a stronger connection with her too.

Days flew by in a blink, as did the entire week. I was so occupied with work and the desire to meet Tiara that a whole month had passed. I hardly even had time to meet with Ciara. Strangely, instead of losing interest in finding Tiara, I became almost obsessed with locating her.

On a typical day, caught up in my work and rushing to submit a report, I accidentally bumped into someone. I quickly got up and helped the person to their feet. When I caught a glimpse of her face, I was captivated by her beauty, but before I could utter a word, she slapped me across the face.

"Can't you watch where you're going? You've ruined my dress!" she shouted, followed by more harsh words. I couldn't retort because I was lost in my thoughts, trying to figure out if she was Ciara, Tiara, or Kiara. They all looked so alike, it was overwhelming and frightening. I continued staring as she walked away into Ciara's office.

I concluded that it was probably Ciara due to my mistake, assuming that work had taken a toll on her. I decided to take it on the chin for the team. Later that day, I entered her office to seek her approval on some documents, only to find all three beautiful ladies present together: Ciara, Tiara, and Kiara.

I had to find out who I had encountered earlier, and I couldn't put it off any longer. I couldn't keep hesitating and tormenting myself with imaginary scenarios for weeks on end. After obtaining Ciara's signature, I headed towards the door, still battling my uncertainty about asking who was who.

Summoning all the courage I had, I turned around and asked, "Which one of you attended the gathering where I was supposed to be introduced?"

They exchanged glances and burst into laughter. "You're a bit late," Ciara chuckled amidst her laughter.

What?

THE GIRL I MET V

Facing my benefactor and nemesis, as I like to call that moment until now, I couldn't find the words to speak. I had imagined various scenarios in my mind, but I remained expressionless. Since I was already here, I decided to see it through to the end.

Without saying anything more, she walked over to a chair, sat down, and began questioning the HR manager about the status of my employment, what had been decided, and when I was supposed to start working. Relief washed over me, thinking that everything was going well. However, she stared at me intensely and continued her conversation.

After settling the remaining details with the HR manager, I was instructed to start working the following week. As I made to leave, I was halted by a bodyguard who informed me that she had requested my presence in her office. Despite my hesitation, I knew I had to comply since she was my boss, and I wanted the job.

When I reached her office, she gestured for me to take a seat as she was on a call. It seemed like someone was trying to connect with her, but she wasn't interested. "She must have a lover," I thought to myself.

Interrupting my thoughts, she apologized for the interruption and asked if I was comfortable with my job. I responded accordingly, surprised that I wasn't as nervous as I had anticipated. We discussed a few other topics, ranging from the recent attack to my role and expectations.

We were getting along quite well. She appeared reasonable and intelligent, just my type—or so I believed—until the door suddenly swung open, and my entire being was shaken. Sitting before me was the woman I admired and believed I had already met, but standing there was the actual lady I had seen at the gathering that night. I instantly recognized her because the intense feeling I experienced that night overwhelmed me once again. However, something perplexed me—why did they look so alike? I sat there in shock as I witnessed both of them exchanging pleasantries, picking on each other, and laughing. That's when I discovered that the one who had attended to me in the office was named Ciara, and the one who had just entered was Tiara. I also learned that they had another sister named Kiara.

"What is happening?" I muttered, growing increasingly confused. They both glanced at me simultaneously and chuckled. The one seated replied, "Don't mind us, everyone reacts the same way when they see two or all three of us together."

As much as I desired to ask more questions, I wasn't certain which ones to pose. However, one question lingered in my heart: "Which girl did I fall for that night?"

Lost in thought, my heart raced. I was sure it was the one I had been in the office with earlier, yet I resonated more with the one who had just arrived. But what if I felt an even stronger attraction to the third one?

Trapped in these thoughts, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Ciara, who had stood up without my notice. But her next question shook me to my core.

"Do you like my sister?" she asked. I froze!

To be continued...

Why did she ask such a question?
What do you think my response would be?
Or is it a trap?

Until the next post tomorrow. 🌹

THE GIRL I MET IV

Once again, I find myself facing the same person who had knocked me out before. I had mentally escaped that situation, but I can't recall how or what happened exactly. Yet, there I stand by the door, gazing at him.

"It may seem strange to show up at your house like this, but my employer would like to meet you," he said politely and respectfully.

So many questions flood my mind. I understand why she wants to meet me, but I can't shake off these inquiries.

How did she know where I live?
Why can't she come on her own?
Why must I go to her?
And many more questions...

Part of me wanted to follow him. After all, it could fulfill both my dreams: meeting the lady and securing my dream job. It would be like hitting two birds with one stone. I desperately needed this opportunity, but my pride as a man prevented me from accepting so easily. Finally, I gather my courage and confidently address the bodyguard.

"I appreciate the offer, but please convey to your employer that I have no intention of accompanying you or meeting her. I misunderstood the situation, and everything is fine now. There's no need for her to go through any further trouble," I assert confidently.

I know you must be wondering, "Why do that?" or "You have everything within reach." I understand, but I wanted this to happen on my terms, in a way that wouldn't label me as an opportunist.

Without uttering a word, the bodyguard retreats, and I retire to bed. I regret my decision afterward, but I still believe it was the right choice.

Morning arrives as swiftly as I closed my eyes to sleep. I hadn't truly slept well for two days, aside from the period of unconsciousness. I rise, pray, and get ready for the day. I first call David to recount my previous day's experience, then proceed to dial her number. "From this point on, I must maintain a professional approach," I reassure myself.

I dial her number, and she answers on the first ring. "Quite prompt," I think to myself. The conversation unfolds as follows:

***
Me: Good morning.
Her: Good morning. May I know who's calling, please?
Me: My name is Samuel. I received your contact from David. I was supposed to call yesterday, but I had a minor emergency that consumed my entire day. I apologize for reaching out only now.
Her: No problem. Although I expected your call yesterday, I also had a long day. Today works fine. I reviewed your resume, and it aligns with our requirements. Come to the office around 11 am, and we can discuss the remaining details.
Me: Alright, thank you so much. I truly appreciate this opportunity, and I assure you that you won't regret it.
Her: David spoke highly of you, and I trust his judgment. You're welcome. Goodbye.
***

I hang up the phone and prepare to meet her at her office. Finally, the moment to face her has arrived.

Upon reaching the organization, the HR department greets me and provides an orientation about the company, my job responsibilities, and my office. I inquire about an interview, but they inform me that I already have the job. I can hardly believe my ears—I actually got the job.

It's a monumental achievement: my dream job, a substantial salary package, and an appealing work environment. This is it. I have finally achieved success, or so I thought.

Still bubbling with excitement about my new job, she walks in. I am fully prepared to meet her, but her expression says otherwise, as she utters, "It's you?" The bodyguard also shares the same sentiment.

Will I get fired before I even begin working?

What will happen to him? Will he be fired or will he keep the job?

Are you Sherlock enough to figure out what will happen next?

Well, until the next post... I value your comments. Thank you.

THE GIRL I MET III

As I opened my eyes, I was greeted by the sight of a beautiful and well-organized living room. "Wow, this place is amazing," I whispered to myself. It was unfortunate that I had to die because of a girl, but at least I found myself in what seemed like heaven. However, I couldn't ignore the lingering pain in my back. I needed someone, perhaps an angel, to help alleviate it.

Lost in my thoughts about what would happen next, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Frustrated, I grumbled, "Why do I always get tapped on the shoulder?" I stood up to see who it was, and as soon as I laid eyes on the person, I started sweating profusely. In a deep and intimidating voice, he said, "Well, you're finally awake. Come outside for a minute." To my surprise, it was the same guy who had knocked me out earlier, now asking me to step outside.

I hesitated. Why should I leave this heavenly place? I refused to step out of this apparent paradise.

That was the last thing I remembered before waking up screaming "Never!" in a small local clinic. I was drenched in sweat, even in real life.

Two nurses rushed into the room to calm me down and proceeded to explain where I was and who had brought me there. After a few minutes, when I had settled down, I realized that the man who had knocked me out was the woman's bodyguard, assuming I posed a threat to her. "Well, that's an unconventional way to meet your end," I muttered, unaware of the nurse's smile at my cluelessness.

I had to stay at the clinic until evening for observation, as they were concerned about a possible concussion. Clearly, I was still shaken by the whole ordeal.

Amidst it all, one piece of good news kept me hopeful. One of the nurses handed me a note with the lady's contact information. Apparently, she had insisted that I call her.

How fortunate I was! Now I had two reasons to make that call. After all, good things happen to those who work hard, even if they almost meet their demise.

I left the clinic promptly and returned home. After a shower and a simple meal to take my medications, I made up my mind to call her, despite any fears I may have had. This was an opportunity to pursue my dream job and meet the girl of my dreams. Who cared if it felt a bit intimidating? The end goal was to secure a job, after all.

With nothing else to do for the rest of the day, I decided to relax in my apartment and watch a movie. However, my tranquility was interrupted by a knock on my door.

"I wasn't expecting anyone," I muttered to myself as I approached the door. Without asking who it was, I opened it confidently, reassured by the safety of my neighborhood and the familiarity of my own home. But what I saw standing in front of me was both shocking and a little terrifying. Was this the end?

Who was standing there? And why did it feel like it could be the end?

Well, until next time, stay tuned for the next episode.

THE GIRL I MET II

As I unbuttoned my shirt, reflecting on the rollercoaster of events, a blend of stress and anticipation coursed through me. Although the day had been filled with challenges, an inexplicable excitement surged within me for what lay ahead.

The prospect of my vivid daydreams materializing, of forging a connection with someone I deeply admired, ignited a flicker of hope. Despite knowing very little about her, a sense of optimism enveloped me.

Now, I'm sure you're curious about what unfolded when I rose to vent my frustration. Shall we delve into it?

To my astonishment, I was met with a gracefully arranged plate of delectable dishes presented by another charming lady. Her beaming smile exuded warmth and kindness. Despite my vexation, I couldn't bring myself to decline her gesture.

In that moment, it struck me that I had been utterly engrossed in the presence of the enigmatic lady throughout the gathering. Accepting the food with a grateful smile, I reluctantly conceded that our paths were not destined to converge. Although a pang of disappointment weighed on me, I couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like if she had been the one to approach me.

But why did excitement still bubble within me, you might ask?

With an enormous grin stretching across my face, I discovered a note accompanied the meal. I discreetly pocketed it, assuming it was a romantic invitation from the lady who served the food. Yet, I didn't dwell on it until after the meal, when I reached for my phone and the note slipped from my pocket.

With a hesitant sigh, I opened the note, and what I read seemed too good to be true. Initially, my friend had invited me to the gathering to introduce me to someone who knew about a job I had applied for. Working at that specific organization had always been a cherished dream of mine. Now, here I was, staring at a note that read:

"You seem upset, and I can sense it, but don't worry. She is the person I want you to meet. Let's catch up after the event. ~David"

At that moment, I couldn't contain my laughter, causing those nearby to cast bewildered glances my way. David, the friend who had invited me to the gathering in the hopes of landing me this fantastic job opportunity, had completely slipped my mind amidst the distractions of the day. How ironic that my focus had drifted so far from its intended target.

As the event drew to a close, I eagerly awaited the opportunity to speak with David and learn what would happen next. It seemed he shared my anticipation, as he promptly approached me once the program ended.

"I've taken care of the minor details, but you weren't around when she was introduced to you. Here are her contact details. Give her a call tomorrow so you can arrange a meeting, preferably on Monday or whenever she's available," he said with a smile, walking up to me.

"Don't worry, she's not the type to bite," he added playfully.

We both erupted into laughter as I recounted the emotional rollercoaster I had experienced throughout the day. Now, I had a genuine opportunity to meet and have a conversation with her—I just needed to make that phone call tomorrow.

******************************************************

Lost in a whirlwind of thoughts and daydreams, I found myself engrossed in rehearsing conversations for the impending phone call. The night slipped away as I pondered over every word and scenario.

The fear of failure plagued me. How many sleepless nights would I endure if I stumbled on this opportunity? The uncertainty weighed heavily on my mind.

Morning arrived, marking yet another peculiar day where everything I held dear could have slipped through my fingers. As usual, I embarked on my early morning jog, a modest distance of two or three streets from my apartment and back. The morning greeted me with its usual charm, but the lack of sleep took a toll, causing fatigue to set in faster than usual. I had to pause at a nearby stall to quench my thirst with water.

Most places in the vicinity didn't open until around 9 am or 10 am, so I considered myself fortunate. With a self-assured declaration, I reassured myself that this would be a splendid day as I headed back to my apartment.

With only one street corner left to turn, I spotted her. She was running down the street, pursued closely by a peculiar-looking gentleman. "Isn't that her?" I pondered to myself, spurred on by a newfound determination to play the hero. If only it had all ended that simply.

One thing led to another, and before I knew it, consciousness slipped away, and darkness consumed me...

What had happened?
Why did I lose consciousness?
What was the reason for her frantic sprint?

Well, the forthcoming post will provide a better explanation 😅

"Business is never sentimental ~ David"

THE GIRL I MET : Chapter One

You may be curious if I fell in love and how it affected my focus.
Can one be in a relationship while also growing personally?
Can love be a source of strength or weakness?
These questions crossed my mind after my experience, but I'll let you be the judge.

I couldn't help but think, "Wow, what a beautiful sight," when I caught sight of this stunning woman entering a gathering I was invited to. Despite my initial plan to leave early due to my busy training schedule, she captivated me and made me stay longer.

It might sound crazy, but even before exchanging a single word with her, I found myself lost in fantasies of various possible futures we could share. In my imagination, she was already my wife, the mother of my children, and my ultimate destination. However, little did I know what was about to unfold.

I'm not someone who believes in meticulously planning every move when approaching someone of interest. What if plan A, B, C, or D failed? I prefer to be myself and let things unfold naturally. And that's exactly what I did, but you won't believe what happened next.

I kept contemplating the perfect moment to approach her. I would have made my move earlier, but she was surrounded by a group of friends, making it challenging. It became increasingly frustrating, so I excused myself to use the restroom. I hurriedly made my way back to the hall, fearing that I might miss her.

To my dismay, upon my return and settling back into my seat, she was nowhere to be found. I was disappointed in myself for procrastinating instead of seizing the opportunity. Now, she was gone.

Lost in deep reflection and regretting my lack of swift decisiveness, I suddenly felt a warm, soft hand tapping and resting on my shoulder. Without much thought, I stood up, ready to express my frustration to whoever it was. But to my surprise...

Stay tuned for my next post, where I will reveal what happened next. 😁

In the meantime, I'm curious to know your thoughts. What do you think happened?
Who was it?
Are you curious to know the end?
Share your theories in the comments...

God knows tomorrow “Olorunmola”

Final Episode

It’s been two weeks since Akanni had been kidnapped, the police kept looking and turning places all over but to no avail. Mrs Duke couldn’t explain to Mide about her missing son, he was said to be caught up in business trip that causes his delay. Mide felt something was wrong but she wouldn’t doubt her friend. Athira has been crying and checking every corner she could in order to find Aakanni, She relocated to one of their houses in Lagos hoping to bump into him one day while Beatrice on the other hand returned to Ilorin but she kept in contact with Athira for any special update. Da’sean heard about everything from Naomi, he was glad it happened but after watching Athira torture herself for days, he option to help by hiring a private investigator in lagos.

After several torture for weeks, Akanni had lost a lot of blood, he kept struggling as he was tied to a piller in a dark room. The scent of the room smells familiar but he couldn’t place who it was. He could hear voices outside which is coming closer…

“Why would you call the police if you don’t want to get caught? “ A black chubby guy asked

“Gator , I have to make it look real like am really concern about his disappearance, someone might suspect me” Dre’bluez explained

“If I may asked you, why are you doing this? I thought Da’sean just wanted to blackmail him to leave Athira” Gator express his curiosity because Da’sean back off the deal claiming not wanting to get his hands dirty.

“Well, if you really want to know, that idiot parents and included with Athira's parents destroyed my family when I was in secondary school. My father stake all our remaining properties for one government contract but the competing company was theirs, my father begged them to let go of it for his company due to his company’s money issues. It would help him get back up, instead of yeilding they went ahead with the contract and won over my father, it drove my father mad that he maltreated my mom and I. He cause the accident of Akanni’s parents which killed them, unfortunately for my father this idiot was missing after then, he wanted to kill everyone of them. Unaware that one of his boys snitched on him, my father was killed in a raid to arrest him since then I vow to find him and destroy the rest of their families, though I already killed that snitch and his whole family and i caused mrs Duke's accident which she lucky survived" Dre'bluez explained in details to gator how he planned to execute the rest of Akanni’s family.

“Boss, isn’t his parent enough payment for it? “ Gator questioned while looking at Akanni with pity

“**laughs** At all, they took my future from me, so they deserve that much”

“Okay boss” Gator felt bad about the whole situation but he couldn’t go against his boss “so how did you find him? “ Gator question further

“Da'sean brought my price possession unknown to him who I was” Dre’bluez replied laughing

Akanni kept pondering why someone would go to such length for a unreasonable cause, the story Dre’bluez shared in his presence made him cried even more, he realize that his parents died for nothing than a mere selfish act of a lunatic. He struggle with the rope with all his strength and got loose, he left the room since the doors weren’t lock, it was easy moving around the house until he could hear Dre’bluez voice. He was on a phone…

“I had an important business here in Abuja, I should be back by weekend.” He replied and hang up

“Boss, you are something else, we are here in your house inside this same Lagos but it turned to Abuja overnight *I have an important business here in Abuja* “ Gator mimick him

“let’s get going, I can’t be late to my girlfriend’s party. Tell the boys to stay alert though, that Akanni isn’t an Ajebo(spoilt kid) “

“Sure Boss” Gator answered and left with him.

Akanni ran back to the room he was locked in, took the rope and fake sleep. Dre’bluez checked on him to be sure before leaving. As soon he left, Akanni search the whole house until he found a phone in Gator's room, he quickly dailed Ajoke number…

“Hello sis”

“Hello brother “ Ajoke shouted

“Stop shouting and listen to me carefully, I need you to meet with Tomisin and Athira and explain somethings to them on how to free me from where I am right now. I can’t escape, I need those who took me to be caught, I already text you all the plans and address. Please sister make no mistakes, my life is in your hands. Tell none except the people I told you to meet, I love you. Bye” Akanni explained as quick as he could before ending the call. He deleted the call history and messages sent by him then returned to his room.

Few days later….

Dre’bluez was preparing to go out, he keep staring at himself in the mirror and laughing wickedly

“Boss, you have a call” Gator handed Dre’bluez his phone

“ Hello Sean… I didn’t forget you, am already on my way, just wait for me at the bar” Dre’bluez dropped his phone then check himself again in the mirror before making move to open the door. “make sure you watch him closely since he has been proving smart these day” He said then left.

“how could he untied his rope but still stayed? He could have escaped, I wonder whether he love all the tortures. Does he love iron, electric shock, different cuts on him? He must be more stupid than I thought” Gator talked to himself while gulping a bottle of alcohol.

Few hours later….

Gunshots was heard from outside, Gator ran outside only to find all their men died and Dre’bluez chain by the police accompanied by Athira, Tomisin, Da’sean, Beatrice and Ajoke. He tried to shoot but he was hot by a policeman who was hiding in the flower unware to him. Ajoke and others ran into the building as the police scanned the whole building, Athira found him first, she cried when she saw him, he was tied to a chair and he was dripping in his own blood. All she could do was shake and weep weakly, Ajoke rushed pass her and untie him…

“Gently brother, try walking slow” Ajoke advice after untying him

“Thanks sis, how is mom and dad? “ Akanni asked weakly almost fainting but Da’sean caught him in time

Two(2) years later…

Da’sean had come to visit the Dukes accompanied by Demi and Beatrice..

"Well well well, here comes the groom " Da'sean teased Akanni

"Oh man,two months isn't that far off again, just a little patience. Beatrice, how are you? " Akanni replied

"Am fine Boyfriend, how are your mom? Am sorry about your dad " Beatrice hugged him.

"It's okay, we all made peace with that already. Well, My moms went shopping with Athira and Ajoke and I am left to deal with Tomisin" Akanni replied and wink at Tomisin who just joined them in the living room. "Any update on Dre'bluez? " Akanni asked

"He was found guilty of all charges and the judge condemn him to death by hanging, it's kind of sad though. I never expect such from him" Da'sean replied remembering how he could have been involved...

**Fast Forward**

Akanni and Athira got married two months later and relocated to Luxembourg, included with Mide(Akanni's birth mother). Mr and Mrs Duke went on a romantic trip to Paris to rekindle their love while Ajoke and tomisin decided to transfer to the same university in America to finish their education. Episode 20

The past three days has been work filled, from one meeting to another, less sleep and more work. Akanni loved it since it has been keeping him from having any personal conversation with either ladies although Beatrice has been all over him, but working with them was interesting and perfect because both ladies were brilliant at what they do.

It’s morning again…

**knock**
“Arrggghhh!! Who is there?” Beatrice grunts

“it's Akanni” he replied while Beatrice stood up, went to the door and unlock it.

“Good morning Boss” Akanni said as he walk into her room. “something wrong?”

“nothing really, do we have any meeting today? And stop with that boss thing” Beatrice corrected

“well, we need to meet the contractor and check the site once more. That completes our mission in Lagos with one free day since we are taking off on saturday” Akanni replied and stress the complete part

“Finally, I was growing impatient already. I should be ready in 20minutes, go and check on Athira” Beatrice responded happily

“She is already downstairs, I saw her earlier”

“hmmmm, I guess you visited her first. I hope you didn’t sleep there?” Beatrice said jealously

“*Smiles* I saw her downstairs when I was ordering your breakfast, it should be ready by now”

“you don’t have to sound defensive, you are dating her right”Beatrice move closer to Akanni and kissed him but he quickly drift away, immediately leaving the room.

"I am having you to myself tomorrow, I can't wait" Beatrice muttered to herself while laughing mischievously

**praying silently**

“in Jesus name, Amen” Athira ended the prayer and check her time, It’s 6am. She had woke up earlier than usual. The thought of how to get Akanni to have a sit down with her had been on her mind since they arrived, “does he feel the same way she does? “ she thought within herself.

“well, I still have to give it a try first”

**ring**ring**her phone beeps”Tominsin”

“Hello” Athira said

“Good morning Sis, I hope you had a great night? “ Tomisin asked

“Yes, I did. I hope this isn’t what am thinking “

“Common Athira, you can’t even ask about my night. I will be blunt anyway, did you talk to him yet? “ Tomisin asked

“I will sort it tomorrow, we have been occupied with our work schedules. It’s a total free day tomorrow “Athira explained.

“Okay Sis, make me proud. Bye”

**line dropped**

The rest of the day was uneventful, Athira left the site around 3pm. She got to the hotel and met Beatrice struggling with her phone and sweating profusely…

“Hey Beatrice, are you alright? “ Athira asked looking really concerned

“Oh, thank God you are here. We were… ambush.. on our.. way back, they took him” Beatrice explained with her eyes all teary

“Whathuh They took who? “

“Akanni…Aka..nni, they took him, he was shot while trying to fight them off” Beatrice replied

“who are they? Where? How?” Athira requested with tears already dropping off her eyes.

“who have you called? What have you done? Where are you just standing here? “ Athira demanded

“I called the police, they are on their way”Beatrice finally responded.

**phone rings** Athira picked up

“Hello Tomi, what is it this time? ” Athira asked angrily

“Are you always angry these days, well mom said she has been trying to reach you. Guess what?” Tomisin replied

“I don’t have time for this, what is it? “ Athira replied impatiently

“Akanni's mom is back and she is really requesting to see him, just allow him to leave tomorrow instead of Saturday”

“What??” Athira shouted

“any problem sis? You can't be selfish with him now” Tomisin said jokingly but Athira dropped the call. By then the police had arrived, she took off with them.

"Wow,I never knew you were this serious about her Sean" Beatrice jumped in.

"Stay out of this sister. Athira, will you marry me?" Da'sean asked Athira for the third time. Akanni was stiff for a moment, he couldn't fathom Da'sean being Beatrice's brother and Da'sean proposing to Athira...

Why would she do that?
Did she faked it?

My boss claim to love me and the person I love is playing with my feelings, how do I get over all this?" Akanni said out loud looking frustrated then fell on his bed. "Am tired" he muttered

"Don't be tired, just follow your heart" A joke and Tomisin echoed

"How long have you two been there?" Akanni asked surprised

"Quite a while" they said while laughing

"I know it's been a crazy year for everyone especially you, my ever annoying but coolest brother isn't my real brother. It bothers me too but am happy for you" Ajoke explained

"It's alright man, it's never too late. I have a plan but we need to verify what she really think first, you will go to her tomorrow with a surprise, something that you know she would like. " **Laughs** it won't reach that level, but man you are wicked ooo" Da'sean replied

Episode 17

Few days passed, Mrs Duke had been discharged and Akanni's Father was placed on support because he could no longer control his condition. This was a hard period for Akanni's Foster Family, all they could do was pray and enjoy their limited time with Mr. Alani. During this period Akanni had to stay by them, he owe everything he had become to them. Bad omen seems to be lurking around till Akanni received a call...

"Hello"

"Good Afternoon, please I hope I am unto Mr Akanni? " A female voice  asked

"Yes, I hope there isn't any problem?" Akanni asked in fear because all he could think of was his unstable Dad

"Not At all Sir, I am Mercy from Shaamill Holdings. I am calling to inform about your application for a job position in our company, you are to resume on Monday. Also an email has been forwarded to your Mail, it consists of all the necessary informations. Congratulations and welcome to Shaamill Holdings."

"Thank you so much Ma, I will check my inbox immediately' Akanni replied fast

This was a great light compare to all the darkness that has been compelling him lately, he quickly placed a call through to his mom and sister...

"Hell‎o Son"

"Mom, guess what" Akanni replied feeling optimistic

"You should know that I am not good at guessing"

"Try Mom" Akanni persist

"You finally get together with Athira?" Mrs Alani proposed

"No Mom, I don't know about that though. Try again"

"Your father is being discharged?"

"No Mom, last chance" Akanni said

"Please don't kill me with suspense, tell me already" Mrs Alani gave up

"Okay Mom, I got the job" Akanni finally said

"Wow! I knew you will get it, congratulations Son"

"Thanks Mom, I need to get the necessary things ready. Bye Mom"

"Bye" Mrs Alani responded the drop the call

***********************************************************

"It's been a while" Da'sean thought to himself, he has been deliberating on what to do next about Athira. Every time he called, she seems to be unavailable or rather avoiding him. He has been chasing after her for long enough, it's time for him to act. He thought over what he needed to do but it seems ‎harder than he thought, Demi was easy so he couldn't propose the same idea. After several hours of thinking, he concluded on involving one of his friends who knows one thing or two about women...

**Phone rings**

"Hello"

"How have you been brother?" Da'sean said

"I have been fine, how about you?"

"Am okay, do you know who this is?" Da'sean requested

"Not really, but the voice sounds familiar"

"This is Da'sean, I am unto Dre'Bluez right?" Da'sean asked

"Yes, long time Man. This one that you remember me today, hope all is well?" Dre'Bluez asked

"Not really bro,I actually need your help on something"

"Okay Man, if it's in my capability"

"Cool,  I am kinda stuck with this girl. I have been chasing her for years now but she remain adamant and I don't want to lose her to anyone. I know you are an expert on cases like this" Da'sean explained

"Okay, how about we set a meeting and talk this through?" Dre'Bluez proposed

"Sure Man, I see you at GQ by 5pm. Thanks"

"You are welcome"

**********************************************************

It's been days since Athira saw Akanni but they have been communicating on phone, he had call her earlier to inform her about the good news. She felt he had been avoiding her and she couldn't do anything about it, she does most of the calling. "He can't be feeling different right?" she thought to herself...

"Athira! Athira! Athira!" Tomisin shouted, she has been calling her for almost five minutes without response

"Yes" Athira responded nonchalantly

"Since you can't even face him to tell him about your feelings, you want to kill yourself by thinking all day right?" Tomisin asked

"It isn't like that, I really need to know if he feels the same way. This is my first time of being in love with someone and I don't want to get hurt" Athira explained

"If you need to know, then you have to act now before it's too late.

"Okay, I will meet him tomorrow after work.

"So what do we do next?" Ralph requested looking for answers on Samuel's face

"Okay, let's drop the contract and wait for the person to call back since it's an unknown number" Samuel replied

"I know that we should inform the police but this contract had been mysterious right from the start, we don't want to destroy everything we have because of one contract. Though we have had threats in past but we were still single then " Ralph stated

"I understand, that's why I couldn't get my head around it. It seems faulted right from the source, Let me call to stop the bank involvement and money transfers

****Five Years Later****

"Why don't we take Athira along with us" Gloria suggested while dressing Athira who was a year old

"Sure, I mean Victor would be there to watch over her" Samuel replied. Just then a call came in...

"What! Accident?"

"Where? How?"

"Which Hospital?, please we would be there as soon as possible. Thank you" Samuel replied as tears rolls down his cheek

"Honey, What happened? " Gloria requested as tears was already forming in her eyes, her husband has never shed tears in her presence before

"Ralph and Mide were involved in a ghastly accident, we need to go now" Samuel replied weakly

" Jesus Christ!!!" Gloria shouted but the shocked was too much for her, Mide was like her own sister. Then she fainted

Samuel rushed towards her, caught her in time then took her to the hospital, in which it was the same hospital that Ralph and Mide were being attended to. After several hours of panting and praying, Samuel got the new from the Doctor...

"Mr Duke(Samuel), Am sorry to inform you that we lost Mr Ajayi but we were able to treat all internal and external bleeding of Mrs Ajayi though she is now in a coma" Doctor explained

"Where is she now?" Samuel asked weakly as tears kept rolling down his cheek, he couldn't handle the truth about his friend's death

"She is being transferred to ward 2A right now" Doctor replied

"Thank you Doctor, But did you notice any boy of about four years old, he was suppose to be with them"

"No, they only brought the husband and wife" Doctor replied

Also your mom is in a special Healing hospital in the U.K, she should be back by next week" Mrs Duke explained while holding unto Akanni's hands.

"I am sorry ma, I understand that everything might have been  so tough on you. I am eternally grateful" Akanni replied with tears already all over his face.

Episode 15

***INTERMISSION***

Life was meant to be challenging for these two friends but it seems like each step is a piece of cake. Mide (Short for Ayomide) and Gloria had been friends for twenty-five years and each moment spent together was exactly like the first time they met, Lived in the same neighborhood, went to the same Secondary school and University. Gloria was always the serious and ambitious one while Mide had great sense of humour included with unexplainable luck. Life treated them well, both building their various empires which were well known and flourishing. Also married the best friends who owns a great Organization. Today is Mide's birthday, so bestie tradition are to be in place, they are almost like an heavenly made twin...

**knock on the door**

"Yes, come in" Mide answered

"Happy Birthday dear, I hope you are ready for the day?" Gloria asked

"Sure, I have made all arrangements or you have plan B?"

"No, let's get going, we are taking my car" Gloria declared

"It's alright, Ralph will meet us there" Mide mentioned

"You and this your Husband, I would have been jealous but none can replace my love"

"You have started again, you better call him before he comes late again" Mide replied

They started laughing and left the house.

***********************************************************

Samuel was sitting in his living room, he was so focused on the movie he was  watching when his phone brought him back to reality.

"Hey Man"

"What's up? Are you meeting us there or you are coming late again" Ralph asked

"I don't even know and I can't say No to Gloria" Samuel replied

"Why? What happened?"

"I am kind of tired, I got home late from work yesterday and I can't really get my head around these new contract" Samuel lamented

"Okay! Since we are collaborating on this contract, why don't we go with the ladies and sort the contract over a drink later after. Also I have great news" Ralph suggested

"Hmmm, great news! It must be a present thing for me then. See you soon" Samuel replied and dropped the call

**********************************************************

The day has been an interesting day so far for Mide, moving from one place to another, After all it's her birthday it should be fun. Gloria noticed her friend was extra joyous but she could not place the reason nor get her to say why...

"Mide, you seems extra joyful today, are you sure there is nothing behind it" Gloria asked

"Smiles, I don't know ooo. Why don't we check out the cinema before going home? "

"Well, it's your day so enjoy it to the fullest" Gloria stated

"Hello ladies" Samuel and Ralph echoed

It seems they both found their everlasting partners, there was a silent moment of hugging and kissing in the mall then Ralph broken the silence...

"I am proud to announce to you that my wife is two months pregnant" Ralph declared. Gloria couldn't hold back when she rushed to her friend and hug her tight while Samuel shakes Sam...

"Congrats Bro, I never saw this coming" Samuel said smiling

"We actually thought it was just a slight sickness but it turned out to be mini Ralph"  Ralph replied jokingly

"I only wish Gloria and I were always too tired most times after our day work, else we would be having a twin pregnancy" Samuel Replied sounding optimistic

"So you had given my friend another load without my permission ahbi?" Gloria accused Ralph jokingly

"We wanted the husband to your coming daughter to be older, that's why" Ralph replied while Samuel and Mide  burst into laughter

It was such a fulfilled day, after entering the cinema twice to watch two different movies, they decided to call it a day. Mide and Gloria went back in Gloria's car because they wanted to pick up a matching dress at the boutique besides Mide's office as the final step of their tradition while Samuel and Ralph went back to Samuel's house to finalize their joint contract. It wasn't long that the ladies left the boutique when their car tyre went flat and they had to drop to quickly change it before it goes worse but before they knew what was happening seven to eight masked guys surrounded them and forcefully drag them into their tinted bus then drove away leaving Gloria's  car behind. It was a disturbing and scary moments as Gloria and Mide kept shouting to no avail until they were both knocked out and tied together.

***********************************************************

Eleven minutes past ten, Ralph became restless and bothered, Their wives haven't call them neither gotten home. Samuel kept assuring him that they might have got stuck in traffic with their battery flat or something else was holding them back. By fifteen minutes to eleven, Samuel wasn't able to endure it himself, he started making calls to all the expected places to confirm their location. After several minutes of calling and waiting, they decided to go look for them. They reported at the police station, visited all the places they could have been or reported to, even checked back at the mall. Neither of them could sleep, they kept searching and calling but all was to no avail. As it was getting close to midnight, that was when they got the text...

***I have you wives, it wasn't what I planned if you had learn to be contented with what you had. Drop the Ministry's contract or lose them***

Samuel debunked the text saying it's a scam but Ralph wanted to end the contract and free their wives.

 To be continued...

What do you think would happen?
Two friends reasoned differently.
How is this connected to Akanni and Athira?

God knows tomorrow " Olorunmola "

Episode 14

...~Between being lost and found; Akanni stood in the middle, he could see Athira reaching out to him but something kept dragging him backward. He was just dizzy and without strength in the middle, he wanted to go forward and get closer to her. The strength of the opposition was beyond his strength, he looked back to see who is holding him back, shocking the figure was under some kinda of cloak. Just looking at the figure terrifies him; he became scared but it was too late the figure draw him in~... Akanni immediately woke up "It's just a dream, thank you God". He knelt down beside his father's hospital bed and pray to God, just then Ajoke came in with Tomisin, they saw how he was sweating and praying and joined him in prayer.

After several minutes of praying; Akanni got tapped by his father, he had woken up...

"Hello Dad" Akanni whispers

"Pélé òmò (Sorry son), I hope I didn't cause you much trouble?"

"No Dad, are you feeling better?" Akanni asked

"Yes son, I feel great"

"Ajoke, Tomisin please give me and Dad few minutes, I need to talk to him about something" Akanni stated

Ajoke had been crying since she saw her dad on the hospital bed, Tomisin guarded her well and took her outside the ward.

"Dad, you don't have to hide it anymore, Dr John told me about your condition already. What I don't understand is why you had to hide it from your Family, we are the only one you've got. How could you do this to us?" Akanni declared with his voice shaking, he was about to cry

"Am sorry son, I didn't want to spend my last days feeling that I never did anything for you. About your identity, I think it's time I told you" Mr Alani replied

"Dad, let's worry about that later. Let sort you out first, you need to rest and I need to get you some drugs. I will be right back"

As soon as Akanni left the ward, Ajoke slip in and took her phone. She had been curious on what her brother has to say to their father so she left her phone on recording inside the ward. After listening to the voice note, she couldn't believe her ears, "Dad has Heart problem and Akanni isn't my brother?" She said to herself. She felt so distraught, she always had a strange feeling about her parent keeping the secret but these was too much for her. Although she has always been strong, she was weak and nervous, then she decided to get to the bottom of everything.

***********************************************************

The next day slips in faster than expected; Akanni was determine to see to the whole truth while Ajoke decided to sneak  her way into checking for DNA samples as confirmation. They got to the hospital with their mom; Akanni left them for Mrs Duke's ward, he had promise to check on Athira, he had been avoiding her given the fact that she might be his blood sister though he never knew Athira had the same thought but she believes it wouldn't be true. He was about to enter when He spotted Da'sean inside the ward with Athira and she was all smiles, he felt his heart shaken, he realised he was actually jealous of Da'sean being there with Athira. He decided to check back later but Athira caught him too fast, She rushed to him and hugged him...

"Hey babe, you came earlier than expected, how was your night?" Athira asked

"It went well, you know I had to check on dad and yesterday was the final interview"

"Oh! That's true, how was the interview? " Athira demanded

"I would be called if chosen, that aside how is your mom?" Akanni asked

"She is stable and looking healthy, the doctors just told us to be positive around her and keep praying" Athira replied

"I will check on her later, I have to go check on my dad now"

"Wait babe, No goodbye kiss nor hug" Athira demanded

"This one that you are calling me babe today, I hope all is well" Akanni asked looking for signs of jokes

"I just have a feeling that you will like it" Athira replied

************************************************************

Akanni got to his father's ward, his mom already left with Ajoke to get some new drugs for his father...

"Ekààrò Sir (Good morning Sir)"

"kààrò Akanni (Morning Akanni), how was your night?

"It was fine, how was yours" Akanni replied

"It was okay, but I know yours didn't go well with your face all worrisome. It's fine though I will explain everything"

"I understand Dad"

"It all happened the day your mom had her second miscarriage; we were with the doctor when you ran inside the office, not wanting to comply with the nurses because you were being transferred to an orphan home. The doctor tried explaining to you that it’s alright but you kept adamant, then you move close to your mom and hugged her tight.everyone tried to separate you from her but you declined, that was the moment we decided to adopt you as our own son. But lately; after all this years I have been getting threats from a strange Madam, claiming that you are her son. I told your mom but she was totally against it, I am really sorry son" Mr Alani explained

"Dad, you don't have anything to be sorry for. You made me who I am today and no one can replace that" Akanni replied and hugged his dad.

"So dad, can I have the Madam cell phone number? " Akanni requested

"Okay, Let me check my phone" Mr Alani responded

After getting the cell phone  number, they spend more time discussing about several other things till Akanni decided to  let his Father rest for the day but he discovered that the cell phone number was the same with the one inside the letter. As soon as he got out he met with his mom and sister, he couldn't help but hug them and encourage them that all will be well. He spoke with his mom about everything, ensuring her that he isn't going anywhere.  Just before he left the hospital, he decided to check on Mrs Duke since Athira won't be there. Fortunately, he got there and no one was present, he check on Mrs Duke and was about to leave when someone stopped him...

To be continued...

Who stopped him?
Why would Mrs Duke threatened Mr Alani?

God knows tomorrow " Olorunmola "

Episode 13

Mr. Duke kept staring at his wife " what could have cause this, she has always been the careful one" he thought to himself right after sending Athira and Akanni home to prepare some new cloths for Mrs Duke. He couldn't think of anything reasonable to attach to the situation, tears starts rolling down his cheeks. Meanwhile Tomisin and Ajoke were catching up quite better; they have been inseparable since they met each other.

"So what do you think of Athira and Akanni?" Ajoke asked

"They will be great together but what does your brother think of her?"

"He actually likes her"

"Hmmm, hope you're sure because Athira seems really in love"

"I know my brother, he might act all cold but once he pays attention to someone, he really do like the person" Ajoke replied bluntly

**********************************************************

Opening the letter was supposed to be a new direction to things but now that it is being opened, it seems like a dead end. The only thing they found was a Blood description document which was meant for Akanni and a phone  number which has "Call me! It's important" note added to it. Athira decipher the phone number to be her mom's cellphone number. Since Mrs Duke is in coma; what can they do than to wait. Athira kept staring a Akanni on their way home, he seems to be extra quiet since they opened the letter. Akanni was the type to joke and make everyone laugh but he is quite affected, knowing his involvement in something he can't even explain. As soon as they got home; she stumbled on Da'sean who had been waiting at their house for anyone to come by...

"Hey! What happened? You have been AWOL for quite a while, I have check your office severally but I was told you took some days off" Da'sean lamented.

"Yes, mom had an accident"

"What!!! But how come you never call me nor inform me?" Da'sean demanded

"Ehn ehn..." Athira stammered then  Akanni came in

"Well, you don't have to answer that, I already know why, I hope Mrs Duke is recovering well?" Da'sean declared

"Yes she is" Athira and Akanni echoed

"I need to be somewhere right now but text the hospital address, I want to come and check on her" Da'sean said directing to Athira and he left.

Akanni moved closer to Athira; he could see that she is sad, he drew her closer and hug her. Immediately, his phone started ringing...

"Hello mom" Akanni said as soon as he picked up

"Bàwò nì (How are you), please I need you home right away. You father is here with his troubles again" Mrs Lola stated

"Okay ma"

He told Athira that he had to leave for something urgent and he left.

**********************************************************

Akanni got home already furious about his parents problems; though they are now separated, they still find ways to create scene for themselves. He got inside the living room and saw his father already close to slapping his mom, he quickly slide in their middle...

"Good afternoon Dad, is these what you want?"

"Afternoon son, It isn't like it seems, I only came here to pick up my last documents but she isn't giving me the opportunity to do so" Mr Alani stated

" mom, please let him pick it up. It isn't a problem right? " Akanni pleaded to his mom

"I already kept the document somewhere safe, he just wants to keep chasing a void dream, how can he say you are not my son" Mrs Lola declared

"What! Dad, what is going on?" Akanni voice went up

"It's alright son, I think it's time you knew the truth" Mr Alani Replied

"What truth?"

"That's the question I have been asking him for months now" Mrs Lola jumped in

Mr Alani signed; he wanted to explain everything as soon as he could because he is having less time remaining, the threat is becoming too much for him. Akanni became impatient; he kept on pushing the question to his father but Mr Alani kept mute. Tears began to roll down his cheeks then he fainted, Akanni rushed towards him, carry him and took him to the hospital as fast as he could. Getting to the hospital clouded Akanni mind; he need to know what is going with the people around him, as soon as he came back things started falling apart. He only wanted a new beginning but all these is becoming too much for him to bear, the father he knew all his life is now saying his mother isn't his real mom. His new found informations tore him apart within, all he could thin of is "who am i". Immediately they got to the hospital; Akanni met with Athira and explain what had happened, he seems to find solace in Athira. After several hours of waiting; the doctor came out...

"Mr Akanni, your father is stable but let me see you in my office" The doctor  declared

"Okay Sir"

Athira hugged Akanni and cheer him up to be positive.

***********************************************************

"Mr Akanni, I understand that this might be hard for you right now, firstly you came with Mrs Duke and now it's your father. I hope you are holding on well?" Dr. John asked

"I am trying sir, but sir what's wrong with my Dad?"

"That's why I called you in, he has been coming in for check-up this past months, though he wanted it to be a secret I think it's time I told one of his Family member"

"Why! How! I thought he was alright" Akanni lamented

"Actually, he has been diagnosed with a condition of the heart for a while now and it's really at the extreme edge now. He has less than a month left"

Akanni couldn't help the tears coming out of his eyes; he thought coming home would at least be a good starting point but it is turning out to be a nightmare...

God knows tomorrow " Olorunmola "

Episode 12

It was around 7pm when the doctors came out from the theater; it had been a great surgery given the extreme shock Mrs Duke went through, the doctors brought good news...

"Please, how was the surgery? Hope my mom is alright" Athira asked weakly

"She stable now but in a coma, we can't specifically dictate  when she will be waking up" The Doctor replied

"Whathuh She is in a coma, how did that happen?" Tomisin shouted

"She hit her head really hard, we had to give our best to put her in that state but as you know God heals, we just try our best" the Doctor responded.

Athira just stood there, shaking weakly just then Akanni pulled her closer and hug her. He stretch his hand towards Tomisin too, he made them sit and rest their heads on his shoulder. It seems like the best thing to do. Time went by; Mrs Duke was transferred into a private ward, Tomisin rested on the couch while Athira kept crying gently with her head rested on Akanni's legs. It was late in the midnight when Mr. Duke got there; he had needed to take a flight from Abuja to Ilorin, though he was only told there is a situation about his wife. He love his wife despite the misunderstanding they always have, she knows him better than anyone else. Immediately he entered the ward; his daughters hugged him, he couldn't do anything but shed tears looking at his wife lying lifeless. He thanked Akanni for taking care of his daughters and drove them home to pickup some new cloth, also for them to take a shower. Akanni left with them but dropped at the intersection to his house, he didn't want to leave Athira but she insisted that he rest for the day. Athira hugged him an gave him a peck which Tomisin bumped her for, she giggles and gave her goodbyes.

***********************************************************

Akanni got home feeling tired; he couldn't think of anything other than Athira and her family since he had totally forgotten about his own family. He hasn't been around much; he decided to mix up with his sister before sleeping off. Ajoke was awake as usual; watching a movie, she could watch film for 24hours without blinking if she is allowed to. Akanni knew he could get through to her tonight; it seems she is bored watching alone, she always has either one of her friends over...

"Maybe I should get you a teddy bear, at least you won't be watching alone anymore" Akanni proposed jokingly

"Smiles, I would rather have you spend more time around here. Do you have a new girlfriend now or you are hiding from the fact that you miss her?" Ajoke tease him

"Miss who? You have started again with this your miss her, miss her. Don't you get tired?" Akanni fight back

"We both know that you always miss them, especially the one before her. She got you so crazy that you had to stay away from anything close to her, you better confess" Ajoke replied bluntly

"Enough talk about that; what's up with mom? I hope she isn't having a hard time without Dad?"

"She is might be acting all good but she is struggling within, you'll know that if you are around much. You used to be so close to her, what really happen to you?" Ajoke asked

"You know I never supported their decision, I just had to change with the situation. That aside; i need you to meet with someone tomorrow, I hope you don't have any plans?"

"Sure, I would love to know who is occupying your time" Ajoke replied

"Goodnight sis" Akanni left

"Goodnight Bro"

The night went well for everyone but Akanni; he woke up sweating profusely, he had a bad dream. "I need to get this letter today" he said to himself. He had been having confusing dreams about the letter. Soon his eyes caught something, what! It's 10am already. He race to the bathroom; brush his teeth, took a quick shower and dress up. He met his sister already dress in the sitting room with her best friend watching a movie...

"Hey sis, you couldn't even wake me up?" Akanni asked with a serious face

"Good morning Égbòn (Big brother); you have always warned me not to wake you whenever you are sleeping  remember?" Ajoke replied

"Good morning bro Ak(Akanni), It's been quite a while" Margaret greeted

"Hello Margaret ; pardon me I have been busy, how have you been?" Akanni responded while Margaret blush, she has been crushing on Akanni since she met him during his secondary school days.

Akanni left the house with his sister around 12pm to the hospital, he had called Athira early and ask about her whereabouts.

***********************************************************

Athira had gotten to the hospital earlier than others, she was determined to revive her mom in any way possible. She couldn't help herself but think about what could have push her ever careful mom to be so careless, that's when her mind went back to the letter. "Oh, it's time that I open this letter" she said to herself; just then Akanni came in with Ajoke and Tomisin.

"Welcome everyone, where is Dad?" she asked while hugging Akanni, Tomisin eyed her.

"He had to get some new Prescriptions for Mom" Tomisin answered and was about to leave the ward with Ajoke.

"You can't even introduce your new friend?" Athira asked directing to Tomisin and Ajoke.

"Oh! She is actually your boyfriend's younger sister and we met during *Unique Vessel's Concert* last year, she can really sing" Tomisin responded seeming excited.

"Hello big sis, I greeted you earlier but you were pretty focused on my brother. Nice meeting you, I hope you are alright? " Ajoke declared politely

"It's my pleasure sis, am okay Thanks. We'll talk better soon. Take care of yourselves " Athira replied directing to them as they left the ward

"How is mom doing? Any update on anything yet?" Akanni asked

"She is stable at least, that aside we really need to talk" Athira replied

" I have been thinking about the letter all morning, I think it's time you open it" Athira proposed

"I was actually going to ask you later but you beat me to it, where is it?"

"It's right here, I brought it along with me but I want you to open yourself since it is originally meant for you" Athira replied

Akanni took the letter and opened it, and behold it was what they never expected...

To be continued...

God knows tomorrow " Olorunmola "

Episode 11

Since the moment Akanni saw how serious Athira's mom was, he knew she would probably occupy Athira's time for the day. But something seems strange to him; he felt like he knew Mrs Duke somewhere and he couldn't place where, he tried remembering every possible connections but all was proving fruitless.
     **Phone rings**

"Hello sis" Akanni said as soon as he picked up

"Égbòn (Big Brother); you left with notice this early morning, ìbo léwà járé (Where are you)" Ajoke demanded

"Pélé (sorry), always sounding as if that's how much you miss me. What happen?" Akanni replied jokingly

"Seriously? We shall see. Anyway, you promised to follow-up with the job interview today" Ajoke requested while Akanni checked his time.

"Oh! I almost forgot about it, I will go there now, I still have about 20 minutes. Thanks sis"

"You are welcome, buy me something when coming ooo" Ajoke replied and dropped the call.

Akanni couldn't say give his goodbyes to Athira nor her mom; he tried calling her but he realized that she dropped her phone with him. He wanted to wait and see them but he thought he could use the letter as an opportunity to visit her one more time.

***********************************************************
"Don't you know where he lives?" Mrs Duke asked after Athira had tried Akanni's number thrice.

"No, I haven't really ask nor being there" Athira responded

"Okay, I need to get some things in placed before it goes wrong. I might be coming in late" Mrs Duke stated.

"Okay Mom, but what is going on. Is everything alright? "

"It's Okay, I will explain later" Mrs Duke replied and left.

"This is becoming really weird, First she acted like she didn't care about him; now she really want to met him. There must be something really special about him" Athira thought to herself then she heard a knock at door.

**Door opens**

Unexpectedly, Athira's sister just flew in from Abuja, she stood by the door expecting Athira to hug her but Athira was Stiff. She was staring at her sister like a hug rock; her sis had a thing for surprising people in which Athira has gotten used to but these was the least of her expectations...

"Sister mi(My Sister); Are you okay, is that how to show that you miss me?" Tomisin shouted reviving her sister back to life.

"Edria! Am sorry jare; you and your surprises, I was taken aback. Why are you here?" Athira responded.

"I told you not to call me Edria again; I prefer Tomisin, I am a Yoruba girl so call me by my second name." Tomisin fight back

"Àtìgbò ma(we have heard you), please what are doing at home this time" Athira asked

"You and your questions, Please let me enter before you kill me here with question" Tomisin replied then pushed her way in.

Tomisin has always love skipping school to relax a bit at home, people always think she isn't schooling but having fun around. Though both sister don't get along really too well, they look so much alike, they have been mistook as twins most times. "This is an opportunity to indulge in my sister" Athira thought. Being on different side is a thing for them but tomisin do really have great judgement on things. After divulging everything to Tomisin including their mom's reaction to it; She felt tomisin herself was lost but she signed and replied in the most very polite and disturbing way...

"You remember Mom said to us when we were little that we had a brother?" Tomisin stated

"Yes, that's true. I almost forgot that; I guess that's why I felt secure with him when we first met"

"Why don't you give him a call again, at least I would get to met him and finalize my judgement " Tomisin declared

"Okay, good idea"

Athira dialed Akanni number twice and he picked on the third ring; she questioned him on leaving without notice. Akanni couldn't explain better then it resulted into an impromptu date. Athira was happy that she would get to see him again while Tomisin prepared herself for a great encounter.

************************************************************

Being chosen to come for the final round of the interview was a great news to Akanni, he couldn't wait to come back and be chosen to start work. He thought of everything he would have done without the interruption of letter that unfaithful; he remembered all his encounter after then "Athira". He found himself gushing over the thought of her then he decided to call her; but Athira found him first; he tried explaining why he left without notice but Athira drag him into a date with an additional package(Tomisin). He wanted to call bode for advice on how to manage them; sadly for him, bode number was switched off.  Since it seems to be his lucky day so far; he rushed home and get something different to wear to the date. He updated his sister about the new development about the interview then set out for the date. Getting there first to him was perfect; he hated getting
anywhere late. Just then Athira and Tomisin entered...

"Hey, I hope we didn't keep you waiting for long?" Athira asked

"Not at all, I just got here" Akanni replied

"Okay then, this is my sister "Tomisin"

"Nice meeting you Tomi, how is everything?" Akanni said directing to Tomisin

"Am fine, we thank God sir"

" ladies, you are looking great, maybe we should turn this to a wedding party, I wish to take both of you to my mom" Akanni commented jokingly

"Hmmm, I would really love that. I'll get to see the root of your attractiveness" Athira replied

"And Humour" Tomisin added

They all laughed; being together felt like home to them, they weren't even distracted with other things. Tomisin and Akanni got along well; they talked more and laugh more, this made Athira liked him the more. Just before they finish up and say their goodbyes, Athira's phone ranged...

"Hello"

"Yes, this is Athira"

"That's my Mom"

"She what!!!" Athira shouted‎ almost stumbling towards the table...

"Where? We are coming right away" she replied with tears rolling down her eyes.

" What happened?" Tomisin and Akanni asked at the same time

"She said Mom had an accident on her way back" Athira responded

They quickly left and went straight for the hospital; Akanni drove them, he couldn't allow neither of them to drive. Getting to the hospital was a thing but getting answers from the nurse going in and out of the theater was struggle. Their mom was being operated on; just then their driver came in...

"Mr. Man, why would allow her to drive. Where were you?" Athira asked almost charging at the driver but stopped by Akanni.

"We went back to work because she said she needed some files for some accreditations but she came out back in a hurry and she wouldn't allow me to drive. She left me there; the only thing I heard her saying was *The letter**The letter*" The driver explained.

To be continued...
