Are you a member of ECSA?
Did you school in SA?

Do a summary of your resume, here.
Also advise him to look back home or start a masters if job is not forthcoming and visa is running out. BEE is not helping as far as jobs are concerned right now

It is difficult to say. It mainly depends on how soon your university back home will respond to their inquiry. Mine was less than 2 weeks.

...... Good day guys...i am an aspirant ..and i'll like to study in South

directly with my waec/neco sittings..He source said i have to get admitted in their
college which will take a bout a year before i can get admission..please does of you
that have been there before...How true is this?
@ftromy@mojohnny@friendly101@mzjennifa..Response would be highly

I am not conversant with the admission process at the undergraduate level. But just as friendly101 said, do some ground work through UJ websites. Send mails and make calls and I sure u will have information. What department are u considering applying to?
Cheers

Good evening everyone

Please, I need some clarifications.

1. How do I get my transcript, passport data page and certificate certified in Nigeria.

2. I need to send the certified documents to a friend in UJ, how can I do this?

Thanks.

1- I am not so sure about transcripts certification because it must be sealed in principle and addressed to wherever you want to send it,(I will still confirm this and let u know),
2- get both photocopies of passports data page and certificates, and their originals to any court. They should certify them there. I leave around Iyana in Ota along the road to Canaan Land. I have certified so many times at the Ota high court just in front of Honda company and it's 250 naira per page.

3- You can use any Express mail to send the documents to your friend in UJ. Just for him to give you the correct address.

I am also aware that the SA custom inspects everything coming into the country and that at times delays the mail and prolongs the waiting time on the receivers end.
I had the experience, i was in UJ and documents were sent to me. I expected to have them within the normal 3-4 working days but I didn't till I left. It arrived about 2weeks later and the explanation above is what I was given.
Sorry, very long and boring? I hope it helps anyway.

Arrived here yesterday bro. Left Nigeria Tuesday.
All the best with your reapplication.
Thanks a bunch.

Thank God. Nice one. Enjoy Pretoria bro. And try and take the Gautrain to Jburg one of these days. Nice experience. Did some work at UJ and TUT last year. Travelled with Arik then cos it was direct flight and cheaper than SA. I don't know if they are still on the itinerary. Let keep in touch.

Thanks for clarifying, but is the Visitor visa - 90 days or as per duration on study visa approved for Principal?
Just for emphasis and I hope it helps. My son just got the exact duration left on my wife's study visa.

I understand fully.
Even the wait all through the weekend not knowing whether the visa was approved or not is a chore in itself.
Just in case by Monday you haven't gotten a response you should call me South African high Commission to lodge a complaint. Their number is 01-4612067.
Cheers fam

It is well dear. I trust you are granted visa. Nothing to worry about. Thanks for the number, I'll make a call on Tuesday if i do not still have a response by Monday

I am aware it could be as per duration on the study visa that is both will expire the same day. While specifying the duration of stay during application diligence is needed to make both tally (my advice).

Seem you don't understand my point. If you are on study visa lets say three years - can your spouse/children/relatives enter the Republic?

If you are on study visa (my wife is), yes, your spouse/children can enter the Republic but on visitor visa and cannot change the visa type while in the Republic.
You on study visa can change to critical skills then to PR while in the Republic.

Just got a message around 4:30pm that it's ready for collection.
So fingers crossed. Check your phone to see if you have too.
I will be there on Monday to pick up my Visa.
I thank God for you. Congratulations. I haven't received any message yet. The waiting is quiet an exercise on its own. Thanks for the encouragement .

2 friends of mine applied on the 20th and got their visas yesterday although technically it a reapplication cos they applied earlier in the month and got denied cos of bank account issues. So my guess is that yours should be here anyday now.
Speaking of which have you tried the tracking option cos I heard that sometimes it might be ready and they won't send and sms.just incase you haven't tracked it you can do so at http://www.vfsglobal.com/southafrica/nigeria/track_1.html.

Still waiting on mine as well!
Good luck

Thanks alot. Yes I tracked earlier and was informed it still at the high commission. Will track again at the end of the day if no response till then. Wish you luck as well..

What about Temporary Residence such as doctoral degree of three - five years?

I am aware those can move to critical skills then to PR.

Could someone give me some cheap hotels in Johannesburg for me to book reservation directly with the hotel I plan applying for tourist visa by 1st week of October. I plan visiting by November.

Why not look at the hotels on Wakanow website? I guess they are genuine ones and you can make your choice from there and follow the payment procedure yourself.

So what ia the plan, ia it permissible for someone apply for change of status from Visitor to Spousal/ relative visa in SA.

What is the plan. It appear the VFS personnel have other plans.

Frankly I don't know if the VSF personnel are acting on instructions or not but I guess they do. I haven't have time to search the net but i am aware that relative visa/spouse is applied for by those related to PR holders and citizens.
As for change of visa type once in SA, I am aware no one on visitor visa can change status while still in SA. Thank you

Which date did you apply?
I applied on 22nd myself and I am yet to get a response. I even called the embassy on Tuesday and they told me it takes minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 working days to process the application.
Although my friends that applied on the 19th got a message yesterday to come and pick up their visas today so I am hopeful I get a response before the end of the day.
I applied on 20th and still waiting as well.

Getting relative/spousal visa is now getting difficult from the SA High Commission in Lagos.

I am aware that if you apply for these type of visas, those guys at VFS would insist you complete Visitor's visa application. Two families I know, recently experienced these issues, the family members were granted Visitor's visa - even when one of their parents was on Study Visa - Doctorate.
.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Staggerlee, any ideas?

Same here. My wife is there on her study visa. Had to apply for visitor visa for my son to join her. Still waiting for response.

Im currently working in South Africa , I just got married to my wife and Im inviting her on an accompanying spouse Visa to come and stay with me, I provided every document as requested by the South Africa High commission but to my surprise the agents working/accepting applications at the VFS office in Lekki keep refusing her application and they dont understand what a spouse visa means, I think they are only familiar with a visiting Visa, They have been frastrating me and turning down all my effort..
She has been going there since Monday and today they gave her a visiting Visa form to complete, I feel they are only misleading me and trying to make contradict all my document..
Could you please advise me what to do because Im inviting her here to accompany me on my critical skill permit and not for a visit..

any advise
Last week I went to vsf to apply for a study visa, actually going for postdoc. I was told at the vsf that only 2 categories of visa are processed now: Study and visitor. They told me the postdoc falls under visitor. I was also applying for my son since my wife is already there, 1 I was told my son can't be attached to me since I don't have the visa yet (understandable), 2 I will also apply for visitor visa for him even though he will be attached to my wife. I expected to apply for relative visa for him but based on the argument that only visitor and study visa are applicable, I also applied for visitor visa for him. I submitted on Tuesday and received an sms on Wednesday that our visa application was under processing at the high commission. We are still waiting.
To come back to your point, either I was also misled or actually things have changed and only those 2 visa categories are available for your wife to apply. Thank you
