PoliticsOSOPADEC Chairman, Prince Olabiyi Poroye, Hon. Segun Iwalokun And Members Of The by Futureloaded(op): 9:34am On May 28
The Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, alongside Hon. Segun Iwalokun and members of the Ilaje Legislative Council, has assured residents of the mandate areas that the ongoing Aboto–Atijere Road project will be completed before December 2026.

The assurance was given during an inspection visit to the road project as the delegation assessed the level of work done and reaffirmed the commitment of both OSOPADEC and the Ondo State Government to the completion of the project despite earlier setbacks.

Speaking during the inspection, Prince Poroye described the Aboto–Atijere Road as a critical infrastructure project due to its economic, social, and security importance to the oil-producing communities in Ilaje Local Government Area.

“We thank God for strength. We thank God for passion. We thank God for energy. We had this strong determination that, not minding all circumstances, Aboto–Atijere Road will be delivered before December this year,” he said.

The OSOPADEC Chairman recalled that the project was awarded in 2019 with an initial completion timeline of 24 months but experienced delays due to administrative and funding challenges.

According to him, the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has revived the project through renewed support and intervention, ensuring that work progresses steadily toward completion.

“This project should ordinarily have been completed long ago. We felt that with a serious-minded contractor backed by a committed governor and a focused commission like OSOPADEC, this road should be delivered once and for all so that attention can shift to other developmental projects,” Poroye stated.

He further explained that Governor Aiyedatiwa had intervened in resolving challenges affecting the project and appealed to the contractor to ensure the road is connected from Aboto to Atijere before the commencement of asphalt laying.

Prince Poroye noted that renewed attention on the road project was also informed by recurring tensions between Makun and Atijere communities, adding that improved accessibility would ease movement and strengthen peaceful coexistence among residents.

He disclosed that only about seven kilometres remain between Akata Junction and Atijere, expressing confidence that the contractor would meet the December completion deadline.

Also speaking during the inspection, the Managing Director of LEE FAKINO Nigeria Limited, Chief Akindele Fajemiyo, attributed earlier delays on the project to paucity of funds.

He, however, commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for providing assurances of adequate funding support to facilitate the speedy completion of the road.

“The job was actually awarded in 2019, but because of paucity of funds, we had not been able to do much. However, with the coming of Mr. Governor, the assurance is there that funds will not be a problem, and we must finish this job this year,” he said.

Fajemiyo assured residents that the road would be fully tarred from Aboto to Atijere before the end of the year.

He also appreciated the support and cooperation received from the OSOPADEC Chairman, management team, and youths from Aboto, Akata, and Atijere communities throughout the construction process.

In his remarks, the Oloja of Akata, Chief Oke Olejagbo, commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the leadership of OSOPADEC for their commitment to the project, expressing optimism that the road would bring lasting relief and development to the affected communities.

PoliticsHOSTCOM Ondo State Seeks Inclusion Of Ilaje Ugboland Communities In Pipeline And by Futureloaded(op): 10:47am On Mar 28
ABUJA — Communities in Ilaje Ugboland, located in Ondo State, have formally appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for inclusion in pipeline and oil and gas facilities surveillance contracts in the Niger Delta region.

The appeal was made through an open letter signed by the Chairman of HOSTCOM Ondo State Chapter, Prince Adejugba Ogundere, who emphasized the strategic importance of Ilaje Ugboland as a major oil-producing corridor hosting both offshore and onshore assets.

According to the letter, several key oil fields operated by Chevron, including Meren 1, Meren 2, Malu, Oppolo, Parabe, Ewan, and Eko fields, are situated within the Ilaje operational area. The region also accommodates operations by companies such as Conoil Producing Plc, Sahara Energy, and other indigenous operators.

The communities stressed that their inclusion in surveillance operations is supported by the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act, which recognizes host communities as critical stakeholders in the protection of oil and gas infrastructure. The Act also provides for the establishment of the Host Community Development Trust and outlines community responsibilities in cases of vandalism.

They argued that local participation in surveillance activities would significantly enhance the protection of critical national assets, reduce incidents of vandalism, and improve operational efficiency through community-based intelligence.

The letter further noted that excluding host communities from such contracts creates security gaps, while their involvement would promote accountability, ownership, and sustained peace in the region.

The Ilaje communities reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding oil and gas facilities, supporting government policies, and maintaining peace and stability across the area.

They, however, called on the Federal Government to grant them a defined slot in the surveillance framework as part of efforts to strengthen national security and promote inclusive governance in the Niger Delta.

The Presidency has yet to officially respond to the request.

PoliticsODSEMA Acts Swiftly As Orunko, Wellington Adebawo Lead On-the-spot Assessment Of by Futureloaded(op): 8:37pm On Jan 20
The Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA) has responded promptly to the collapse of a storey building under construction at Adegbola, along Oyemekun Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Leading the on-the-spot assessment on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, were the Acting Permanent Secretary, Office of the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Frederick Orunko, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response, Hon. (Prince) Wellington Oriade Adebawo. The visit followed reports that the structure collapsed while construction workers and artisans were actively working on the site.

Addressing journalists at the scene, Mr. Orunko, whose office supervises ODSEMA, confirmed that no life was lost in the incident. However, he disclosed that seven workers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were immediately evacuated to nearby hospitals, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

According to preliminary findings, the Acting Permanent Secretary explained that the collapse was likely caused by the use of substandard construction materials and hurried, poorly executed building processes. He described the incident as avoidable, stressing that it reflected shoddy workmanship and disregard for approved building standards. Mr. Orunko announced that the construction site would be sealed without delay, adding that appropriate sanctions would be imposed on all those found culpable, in accordance with existing building and safety regulations in Ondo State.

Corroborating these observations, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response, Hon. Wellington Adebawo, stated that visible evidence at the site pointed to inferior materials and accelerated construction practices as the major causes of the structural failure. He emphasized that negligence in the construction sector would not be tolerated, warning that engineers and professionals involved in the project would face necessary disciplinary measures.

Hon. Adebawo further revealed that his office would intensify the enforcement of safety standards and best practices across construction sites in the state. He noted that this renewed approach aligns with insights gained from recent operational engagements and understudy visits to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), which would be adapted to strengthen emergency preparedness and preventive oversight in Ondo State.

As part of the new safety drive, he disclosed that regular quality assessments of buildings under construction would commence statewide. He also announced that no construction worker would henceforth be allowed to operate on any site without appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), stressing that the use of safety kits would be mandatory.

Other officials present at the scene included the Director of Finance and Administration of ODSEMA, Mr. Richard, who assisted in coordinating response efforts. Also in attendance were the Director of the Ondo State Fire Service, Engr. Folorunso Samuel, and the Deputy Director of Operations, Engr. Falanu Kehinde, who participated in evaluating the structural failure and ensuring the area was secured against further risks.

The officials reiterated the Ondo State Government’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property through strict regulation, proactive monitoring, and decisive enforcement of construction standards, assuring residents that concrete measures are being implemented to prevent a recurrence of such incidents across the state.

PoliticsEnemies Of Progress Exposed: Why Attacking Hon. Festus Akingbaso Is An Assault O by Futureloaded(op): 6:35am On Jan 18
As concerned youths of Ondo State, we believe that anyone who chooses to sponsor media attacks against Hon. Festus Olanrewaju Akingbaso, MHR Representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, is not just fighting a person but openly standing against progress, development, and the collective aspirations of the people of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency and our dear state at large. It is painful to see energy that should be invested in building Ondo State being wasted on politics of bitterness and falsehood.

It is the height of political insincerity to undermine a leader whose record speaks of dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public service. Hon. Akingbaso represents the kind of leadership young people admire and support: visionary, purposeful, and people-driven. His voice in the National Assembly reflects the hopes of his constituents, while his actions continue to show courage, competence, and compassion.

His representation has been marked by meaningful engagement, people-oriented initiatives, and a relentless pursuit of sustainable development. For us as youths, attacking such a leader through sponsored criticism is like declaring war on growth, unity, and democratic maturity. It sends the wrong message to a generation that longs for responsible and progressive leadership.

These calculated attempts at character assassination only reveal the desperation of those who thrive on division, misinformation, and political mischief. They fear accountability, they fear transparency, and above all, they fear the unstoppable power of progress. Instead of contributing positively to the democratic process, they choose distraction and destructive propaganda.

Hon. Festus Olanrewaju Akingbaso remains the pride of Ondo State in the National Assembly. His legacy is being built on service, credibility, and the unshakable trust of the people. As youths, we stand with leaders who build, who unite, and who inspire hope for a better tomorrow.

To stand against Hon. Akingbaso is to stand against development. To sponsor attacks against him is to declare oneself an enemy of progress and a stumbling block to the brighter future Ondo State truly deserves. We, the youths of Ondo State, choose progress, unity, and purposeful leadership.

Jobs/VacanciesTransforming Security Into Opportunity: How Hon. Engr. Alore Omosuyi’s Strategic by Futureloaded(op): 4:52pm On Jan 09
In Ondo State’s coastal communities, where security concerns, unemployment, and economic exclusion have long intersected, a new narrative is gradually taking shape—one driven by purposeful leadership, strategic collaboration, and a commitment to grassroots empowerment. At the center of this evolving story is the Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterway Security, Honourable Engineer Alore Omosuyi, whose partnership with Charpman Security Services Limited is steadily redefining what public service can achieve.

Rather than limiting his office to routine security coordination, Hon. Engr. Alore Omosuyi has adopted a broader vision that links security operations with economic empowerment. Through a well-structured collaboration with Charpman Security Services Limited, he has successfully leveraged his portfolio to open employment pathways for youths in the riverine and coastal areas of Ondo State—particularly in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas.

This initiative has already yielded tangible results. Over one hundred youths from these coastal communities have been gainfully employed by Charpman Security Services Limited, providing them with a stable source of income and a renewed sense of purpose. For many beneficiaries, this opportunity marks their first formal employment, offering not only financial relief but also skills, discipline, and inclusion in a structured workforce.

Beyond the numbers, the impact of the partnership is deeply social. By prioritizing the engagement of local youths, the program fosters community ownership of security efforts along pipelines and waterways. This inclusive approach has helped strengthen trust between government, private security operators, and host communities, while also contributing to reduced restiveness and improved vigilance in critical areas.

Community leaders across Ilaje and Ese-Odo have described the initiative as timely and visionary. They note that empowering local youths to participate in safeguarding vital infrastructure creates a win-win situation—enhancing security outcomes while addressing the pressing challenge of unemployment. Families of beneficiaries have also expressed gratitude, acknowledging that the initiative has brought stability, dignity, and hope into their homes.

Observers say the success of the Hon. Engr. Alore Omosuyi–Charpman partnership underscores the importance of leadership that is both responsive and innovative. It reflects a practical understanding that sustainable security cannot be achieved in isolation from economic realities, especially in coastal and riverine environments where livelihoods are closely tied to government policies and private sector activities.

As Ondo State continues to advance its development agenda, initiatives such as this highlight the administration’s commitment to inclusive growth and people-centered governance. Indeed, the message echoing across the coastline is clear: the Special Assistant is working, and the Governor is working, translating policy direction into visible progress on the ground.

For the youths of Ondo State’s coastal communities, this partnership represents more than a security arrangement—it is a pathway to empowerment, stability, and a more hopeful future.

History was written in Ugbo Ward 3 as the Councillor, Honourable Fayowole Korolo Minu, successfully organised a groundbreaking inter-school quiz and scholarship competition — the first educational event of its kind to be sponsored by a councillor within the ward and entire Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. The initiative, held in Ilepete Town, has been widely celebrated for igniting a new wave of academic motivation among pupils and students across the riverine communities.

Schools arrived in excitement and uniform pride, banners raised, teachers leading their teams, and learners stepping forward with courage and preparation. The competition featured two secondary schools and five primary schools, with students tested in Mathematics, English, Current Affairs, Civic knowledge, and General Studies. Each round was intense, interactive and engaging, as participants displayed confidence, quick thinking and sharp intellect — drawing applause from parents, educators and community leaders present.

At the peak of the event, Hon. Fayowole Korolo awarded one full-year scholarship to 8 outstanding learners — 3 from secondary schools and 5 from primary schools — who excelled in the competition. The beneficiaries were celebrated with cheers as their names were called, marking a moment of hope and emotional relief for families whose financial burdens were instantly eased. To encourage equal participation and inclusiveness, the councillor also donated notebooks and biros to all contestants, ensuring that every child returned home recognized, inspired and remembered.

The event has been described as historic, visionary and exemplary, especially among community elders and education stakeholders who noted that no councillor in Ugbo Ward 3 had ever executed an academic project of this magnitude. Many expressed deep admiration for Hon. Korolo’s leadership style, applauding him for prioritizing knowledge development over everyday political routine.

Speaking at the gathering, the councillor reaffirmed that education would remain a central pillar of his administration. In his words, “an educated child stands taller than his generation; when knowledge rises, poverty falls.” He emphasized that this maiden edition was only the beginning, promising more programmes aimed at sharpening intellect, boosting literacy, and opening opportunities for youth across the ward.

Parents were full of gratitude. Teachers described the initiative as timely and transformative. Youth leaders praised it as a shift from conventional politics to developmental politics — one that invests in humans, not just infrastructure. The competition, many believe, will trigger a ripple effect: stronger study habits, healthy rivalry among schools, improved community-school relationship, and a growing hunger for academic excellence among young people.
