RomanceWhat Crazy Thing Have You Done For Love? by fynejess(op): 12:16pm On Sep 28, 2012
Bruno Mars sang it like he meant it. How many people will indeed catch a grenade for the one they love? Poets write it like its easy; how readily will one die if the person they love leave them?

Michael Bolton crooned it like his life was about to end saying ' How am I supposed to live without you'; wasn't he alive before that person came into the picture?

Many times I watch movies and see a lot of people doing really brave and dare I say crazy things for the one they love.

You know, stuff like dying for a lover; starving for a lover; putting a lover before oneself, painting buildings with 'Will you marry me' inscriptions and more… and it got me thinking of how far one can go for love.

In Nigeria, that extremity is rare. We seem the kind that does not believe in love being blind. In fact, our own love wears medicated eyeglasses with walking stick.

CrimeJealous Lady Renders Boyfriend’s Manhood Useless by fynejess(op): 4:44pm On Sep 25, 2012
The extent many women go with jealousy is absolutely outrageous. But men, abeg don’t be giving these women a reason to permanently disable you now. There are some who can actually turn away or resist temptation, be like them na!

Ladies are not smiling again o and you do not want to get on the bad side of a krazy one! Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned… you know that right?

This woman according to news making the rounds on social media bathed her boyfriend’s crotch with acid when she discovered some ‘suspicious’ text messages on his phone which led her to believe he was cheating on her.

Wait for it! This lady in her anger, still thought up the most effective way to carry out her plans. She got the acid, seduced her boyfriend and showed him just how sexy she could be by tying him to the bed post. The young man probably looked forward to what was coming next but when she had him where she wanted him, she decided to interrogate him. Too much movie-watching o! shocked

Educational ServicesSchool Now Offers Prostitution As A Course :o by fynejess(op): 4:32pm On Sep 24, 2012
Na wa o! Everyday news that shocks one to the bone marrow surfaces.

A school to teach people how to be verrrrrry good at prostitution. They have even guaranteed a job to students upon graduation.

This is how DailyMail Uk reported it:

A Spanish firm offering a professional course in prostitution which it says 'guarantees a job offer on graduation’ has survived its first legal challenge to be closed down.
For €100, students are taught the history of the world's oldest profession, how to use erotic toys and the most popular positions contained within the Kama Sutra.

The school began advertising the course in May, but within weeks the Valencian regional government filed a case with prosecutors, alleging that the school promoted prostitution, which is illegal in Spain.

But yesterday prosecutors said there was not any evidence that a criminal offence had been committed because advertisements for students did not promote prostitution, constitute fraud and were not aimed at minors, reported The Times.

The venture has attracted much criticism in the predominantly Catholic country, with many saying it is the wrong way to tempt cash-strapped Spaniards back into work.
But the Valencian firm, which flooded the city's university campus with promotional flyers, says it will make the trade safer.

It will also ensure budding sex-workers will not fall foul of the law, with in depth descriptions of the industry's laws and how to work around them.
Brandon, who has run the one-week course for eight years, said: 'They will know what they are getting in to.

'Prostitution is a career that many people live off from day to day, whether they are single or have a partner.'

He added that 95 people, from the age of 19 to 45, had signed up to the diploma - which takes up two hours each day.

And, once they graduate, they receive their first job offer - to become a teacher in the 'school' where they can help in practical classes.

What they learn in the series of theory and practical classes will enable them to 'earn a lot of money, very easily and quickly', according to the ABC newspaper.
Esther Lopez Barcelo, a United Left MP in Valencia, said the party was considering appealing the ruling.

Sex is a multibillion-pound industry in Spain, with colourfully lit brothels staffed mainly by poor immigrant women from Latin America, Africa and eastern Europe lining highways throughout the country.

Nairaland GeneralHow He Was Killed By The Police Days After His Wedding by fynejess(op): 6:07pm On Sep 23, 2012
The way stories of police shooting innocent civilians multiply by the day eh! It's just crazy that the same people who have been charged with protecting lives and properties are the same people claiming it and with no cause whatsoever.

These days, when you see a policeman armed with a rifle, you do whatever he says because something as simple as frowning can even agitate a 'crazy' one and he would turn commando on you.

It's just so sad that families lose loved ones to the senseless killings perpetrated by these so called police officers. What gets me more angry is the fact that nothing is being done to the killer-policeman except maybe dismissal from the police force. If a beffitting punishment is meted out on these murderes, then maybe, just maybe, others will be more careful how they wield their guns and who they shoot.

The story of Ugo Ozuah is everywhere on the internet. He was alive few weeks back just newly married and like every married person, looking forward to a great future with his family but fate played a cruel one on him. He wed his wife on September 15th, 2012.

He was said to have been shot on Thursday, September 20 by police men in front of the UPS office on the Gbagada express way. He fought death but eventually gave in Saturday morning at a hospital in Lagos.

His friends say he was at the expressway with another friend tryining to get a cab at about 9pm when these policemen pulled up and shot him twice in the chest at close range. They claimed he was resisting arrest but reports say he was not resisting arrest, he wasn't resisting arrest and he was not even asked to identify himself. He was just standing there looking for a way home when his life was snatched for no reason at all.

The IG of police, who I guess didn't even see the faces of said perpetrators, has claimed that the men weren't policemen but impersonators clad in police uniform.

This is not the first time an innocent person has been killed by 'policemen' and if something is not done fast, it may not be the last.

The wife of the deceased hasn't been married up to one month and she is already a widow!

Her pain is unimaginable!

RomanceRe: Divorce and Us by fynejess(op): 2:12pm On Sep 21, 2012
CrazyMan: Yea I've noticed that too...its no longer news.

Personally, I think one of the major reasons for the increase in the rate of divorce in Nigeria is a change in mindset.

Nigeria no doubt, it the most religious and ethnic country on this planet. Infact, there are times when I ask myself can one enjoy a decent marriage free from religion and ethnic beliefs in Nigeria...

Most Nigerians tend to be very traditional and religious these days...I've come across thousands of cases on daily bases, where a yourba man would forbid his daughter from getting married to and ibo lady and vice versa.

In the olden days, divorce was regarded as a taboo by traditional and religious standards.

But its very sad to note that in our days, the same religious and traditional laws that kept hundreds of marriages going, are the ones destroying marriages...as they have a way of giving a lukewarm treatment to people with different beliefs and culture.

Furthermore...civilization also plays another major role in Nigerian marriages.

Civilization has made most ladies realize their rights as women...their right to speak up, their right to dress the way they feel, their right to having a career, their right to owning their own properties...etc etc.

On their right to speak up...in the olden days, women don't speak up to their husbands. Infact, most of them kneel down when serving him...you can confirm this fact from your parents...lol

But in our days, civilization has given them (women) the right to speak up and challenge the authority of their husbands almost every now and then...most men, probably due to their arrogance, nonchalant attitude to the points the woman is trying to raise and pride, might see such action as rudeness on the part of the woman, thereby resulting in a physical assault or abuse on the woman...which eventually could lead to the end of such marriage.

Their right to dress the way the feel: I've come across hundreds of threads here on Nairaland in respect to this topic...most girls of our days feel that traditional dressing should be buried alongside their ancestors who invented them...I would have agreed with them, but the indecency of our modern day fashion, is a topic that needs to be properly addressed...

Most girls have lost eligible suitors as a result of their indecent dressing, and most women are on the verge of loosing their marriage as well...due to this bug...if you ask me, I'd say the good old days were much better.

A career woman: I'll merge with a woman's right to own a property.

Traditionally, women are not suppose to own properties...but as I stated earlier, civilization has removed the scales the covered the eyes of our women over the years.

If you ask is see nothing wrong with a woman owning a property or being a career woman...as we all know every good side, has a bad side. So the bad side or rather the disadvantage of this is that most Nigerian of today men have a low self esteem...they believe that women shouldn't progress in life...therefore any progressive attempt made by the woman, might lead to serious problems and even a divorce in such marriages.

I'm also a christian as well...and if you read your bible properly, you'll notice that it (the bible) charged men with the responsibility of being loyal, loving, caring, adoring and providing for their wives.

Women on the other hand, are expected to honour and respect their husbands...if both parties adhere strictly to this command, believe me, there won't be any need for a divorce.

On the case of US, I can't really say much...they live their lives the way they want, and are ready to call it quits once they hit a rock...from my opinion, they're the kings and queens of divorce...and because they have no culture, I won't really blame them.

Therefore, we Nigerians shouldn't emulate them...
I absolutely agree with your very expository comment. I actually get scared looking at how fast 'civilization' is seeping into our nation. Our lifestyle, music videos, dressing, speech....almost everything is being dominated by the so-called civilization!

KingOfNairaland: Compare to that of The United State?
Not at all compared to theirs but we are succumbing seriously to it here now. It is now very rampant.
RomanceDivorce and Us by fynejess(op):
Headline amended...

Is it just me or are divorces becoming quite rampant in Nigeria?

These days, it is easy to see people contemplate leaving their marriages for one reason or the other. Does it mean that in the olden days, such things that cause divorces didn’t happen or just that people are becoming stronger by the day to say NO to unfair treatment?

Divorce is not sanctioned by the bible seeing as I am a Christian but there are situations that arise and you can almost hear yourself scream to the person; ‘Get a divorce’.

Nairaland GeneralTGIF: The Week Isn’t Over Just Yet! by fynejess(op): 10:24am On Sep 21, 2012
Its Friday again and one can breathe with the thought of the two day break ahead (for those who don’t work weekends that is) from the usual weekly hustle of work.

The week has been filled with moments we loved, hated and some we wished didn’t come upon us but hey, this is the time to recollect. At the end of the day, it would be a good exercise to go through our week starting from Monday.

Think of the people you met, the words you used, the moments you got angry, the happy moments, the time you spent doing something irrelevant, new things learnt…. Generally, try to remember your week in as much detail as you can.

How did you affect the lives of the people you came in contact with either negatively or positively? What words did you use that either made or marred someone’s day? What are those things that got you really angry? Could the anger have been avoided? Who or what made you happy during the week? What time did you spend doing something unproductive? What could you have achieved with that time ‘wasted’? Did you learn anything new that could be applied to your job or personal growth? What steps needs to be taken to apply that new discovery or even improve on it?

Just take a little time out to mull over your week, discover areas to make amends in; understand where you were wrong and if there is anyone you should be apologizing to the following week.

When you have sifted through your week and consciously plugged all the leaks, the weekend will indeed be a relaxing one for you and on Sunday night, you won’t feel so bad that a new week is beginning.

The week isn’t really over until you have put to bed all your worries.

Enjoy the weekend!

Nairaland GeneralMalaysia Gives Parents Guidelines To Detect Gay/lesbian Traits In Their Children by fynejess(op): 3:28pm On Sep 19, 2012
The Malaysian government will not wait even a minute for the fate that befell Nollywood actor Bestwood Chukwuemeka to be applicable in their country as the Education Ministry rolled out “endorsed guidelines” to aid parents in identifying gay and lesbian traits in their children.

The list complete with four gay and four lesbian symptoms is indeed one to behold as it is hilarious.

I am still laughing at this one: It said that a man that has muscular body and likes to show it off with V-necked and sleeveless clothes may likely be gay.

Ha! Many men here in Lagos match that description o! Should we start getting suspicious? Lol…

RomanceIs It True That Ugly Men Don’t Cheat? by fynejess(op): 10:42am On Sep 16, 2012
Do looks have anything to do with being faithful in a relationship? I still wonder as I do not think so.

Every day I hear/read things that make me want to roll on the floor in laughter. Recently, I read on a website the many benefits of marrying an ugly dude.

According to this website, when you are too beautiful as a woman and you are scared of being cheated on by an equally good looking man, go for an ugly guy. They said ugly men outnumber beautiful women.

Let me list the benefits they mentioned on said website:

- An ugly guy will never cheat on you because he feels privileged to have quite a beautiful woman for a wife. (This is absolutely false as most of the unfaithful husbands out there are the ugly ones.)

- The ugliest man in the room is usually the richest. They said ‘financial security is just one ugly man away’. (Do you agree?)
