Religion / A Tribute To Reinhard Bonnke By TB Joshua Ministries by gabriel09: 11:15am On Dec 08, 2019
A TRIBUTE TO REINHARD BONNKE (1940-2019)
Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke, a missionary with a burning passion for the Gospel, a vision for Africa and a message for the world, crossed over to glory on December 7, 2019.
In 60 years of ministry, the founder of Christ For All Nations had the joy of witnessing over 79 million people give their lives to Jesus Christ.
He continued to preach the Gospel even to his final moment, often reminding people that, “Salvation is only found in Jesus and Jesus must be preached.”
The character of a true believer is that he finds refuge in the secret place of the Most High God. Heaven is our resting place, our dwelling place. Here Reinhard Bonnke rests - in the precious arms of Jesus Christ.
Emmanuel TV and The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations join believers around the world to pray for God’s strength and comfort upon the family of this dear servant of God as we celebrate his life and legacy of harvest.
In the words of Reinhard Bonnke: “I don't want a monument. We don't build monuments; we build God's kingdom.”

Foreign Affairs / 6 Arrested In Brussels Police Operation After French Raids Foil Terror Attack by gabriel09: 10:49am On Mar 25, 2016
Six people have been arrested in a large police operation in Brussels, a Belgian prosecutor said Thursday night, as two suspects in the deadly Brussels bombings remain on the loose.

The six arrested were detained for questioning, a Belgian prosecutor said in a statement. The decision of whether to charge them is expected to be made tomorrow.

2 Brussels Attackers Identified as Brothers

Several houses were searched in Brussels, Schaerbeek and Jette, the prosecutor said. The police raids were conducted in connection with the Brussels terror attack investigation.

News of the raid came shortly after raids in northwest Paris foiled a planned attack, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.

The French plot was at the "advanced stage" of preparation and was discovered after a French national -- described as being at a "high level" in the plot -- was arrested this morning, Cazeneuve said.

There did not appear to be links "at this stage" between the plot foiled in France and the Paris or Brussels attacks, he added, saying the arrest is the result of weeks of investigation and the individual was involved in a "terror network" that planned to strike.

The raids in Argenteuil, about 8 miles outside of the center of Paris, were ongoing and the streets were sealed off.

Investigators are actively seeking a second suspect in the Brussels metro bombing who has been seen on surveillance camera footage inside the subway station with suicide bomber Khalid El-Bakraoui, a Belgian police source told ABC News.

That second suspect, who is unidentified, was spotted on the subway platform at the Maelbeek station with El-Bakraoui, according to police.

El-Bakraoui is thought to be dead after detonating a bomb on the subway train as it was pulling out of the station. The accomplice now being sought has yet to be identified, but police do not believe he died in the Tuesday attack.

In the other attack at the city's international airport, Khalid El-Bakraoui’s brother, Ibrahim El-Bakraoui, was one of two alleged suicide bombers who led that attack.

Najim Laachraoui and a man wearing a light-colored jacket, who has not yet been publicly identified by police, were with Ibrahim El-Bakraoui at the airport, as seen on a surveillance camera image released by authorities.

Laachraoui is believed to be dead after detonating his suicide bomb, while the unnamed man has been the subject of a manhunt since Tuesday's attacks, as Belgium lowered its threat level today from the highest level, 4, to 3. Paul Van Tieghem, director of the office that evaluates threats to the nation, said there is no indication that another attack is imminent but the threat is still serious and possible.

he first suspect that is being sought was pictured on the airport surveillance footage. His identity remains unknown, but he stood out in the photo because he was the only one of the three suspects pictured not wearing a black jacket. As a result, he's been widely referred to as the "man in white."

There has been some speculation that the "man in white" was a handler or supporter for Laachraoui and El-Bakraoui since he was not wearing a glove on his left hand like they were, which may have been hiding a trigger, and his bomb failed to detonate until after it was secured by law enforcement.

Religion / Is Synagogue Church Building Collapses Coroner Biased by gabriel09: 2:29pm On Jul 09, 2015
based on the judgement by the the Lagos high yesterday on verdict on the synagogue church building collapse

The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) rejects the verdict of the coroner on the grounds that it is unreasonable, one-sided and biased. that the church maintains its stand that the incident was as a result of sabotage.

From the verdict , we would let the public to take note of the following:

There was no finding that the church engaged the services of unqualified or incompetent professionals for the construction of the building.

There was no finding that the church procured substandard materials for the construction of the building, as confirmed by officials of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) who gave evidence at the coroner and certified the materials used were all approved and of good quality.

There was evidence that the church had started processing the relevant building approval before the incident, which had been approved and assessed for payment by the appropriate government bodies.

There was no finding that connected the incident with the lack of a building permit.

There was no finding that church members prevented the statutory responders from carrying out their rescue duties.

The church disagrees most vehemently with the finding that the incident was due to structural failure.

The church considers it strange that the coroner did not refer in its verdict to the evidence of the COREN-registered structural engineer and contractor used by the church nor did it evaluate the conflicting evidence given by civil and structural engineers as to whether or not the incident was as a result of structural failure.

It was a one-sided verdict which left many issues unaddressed and questions unanswered.

The church disagrees with the findings concerning the aircraft that hovered over the six-storey building because there was evidence before the court that the incident could have been brought about by external forces such as controlled demolition or an explosion.

The verdict did not even refer to the CCTV footage which showed the 6-storey building falling in less than 4 seconds – a manner consistent with controlled or externally induced demolition – nor did it refer to the interim report and investigation by the Nigerian police force which pointed to sabotage by external forces.

The church also disagrees with the finding that foundation failure was a remote cause because that is contrary to the overwhelming expert evidence of the structural engineers invited to the coroner who eliminated foundation failure as a possible cause.

The recommendation for the investigation and prosecution of the contractors and structural engineers used by the church for criminal negligence is premature because it gives the impression the coroner has found them guilty when a coroner is not allowed in law to make any finding of civil or criminal liability against anybody.

The recommendation for the investigation of The SCOAN for not possessing the relevant building permits is unwarranted because it did not take into account the evidence that the church had started processing the relevant building approval before the incident. As a matter of fact, the amount payable for the processing had already been assessed by the appropriate government agencies.

The recommendation that statutory responders should be adequately equipped was informed by the fact that the statutory responders who carried out rescue operations in this case were ill-equipped and ill-trained, and that it was the church that mobilised human and material resources to ensure a successful rescue operation.

Finally, the coroner recognised that the conduct of the investigation of the incident was compromised by the failure of the appropriate government agencies to take necessary steps to secure and preserve the scene of the incident, which calls into question the integrity and reliability of the entire investigation.
Religion / There Is No Excuse For Failure Tb Joshua by gabriel09: 4:10pm On Jun 24, 2015
In my spiritual walk with God I have experienced both good and hard times. Who knows what would have happened if those temporary stops did not come at intervals? Consider how my education suffered epileptic fits; today I am in school, the next day I am out, especially for want of money. I don’t want to call it poverty because the man that is poor is not the one who has no money but one without a dream. Children of destiny can never be poor, though they may experience temporary lacks.

"Before I knew it, I had gone around six different colleges in less than one year. I enrolled for JAMB four times and on each occasion, it was either I forgot my acknowledgement card and other necessary documents or there was an accident on the way to examination venues. People who saw what was happening to me simply attributed my predicament to either sin or non-seriousness on my part. But those with the maturity that comes from faith, like my mother, saw it as mere stopping intervals/ natural stops in my spiritual walk with God.

"I began to look at whatever came my way with a mind whose focus was on God alone, I mean, the maturity that comes from faith in the finished works of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I knew my case was already settled in Heaven. Here I am today in your midst; I can boast of what God is doing for us. Hallelujah! You are all witnesses.

"To those who have no fast legs, no sugar coated mouth and who are without human help - there is no excuse for failure...

"Are you rejected? Come to Jesus - He is your Companion!
Are you abandoned? Come to Jesus - He is your Comforter!
Are you without help? Come to Jesus – He is your Helper!" - TB Joshua

Please SHARE and encourage people that no matter your circumstances, there is HOPE - His name is Jesus Christ!

Religion / Exclusive Interview With Prophet T.b. Joshua: by gabriel09: 11:23am On Jan 14, 2015
The following questions and answers can be found in the current issue of 'Read Us', the official magazine of The SCOAN
QUESTION: What is the secret of your calmness in the midst of the storm?
ANSWER: My calmness is peace of heart, which reflects in the life I live. This peace of heart is the source that calms the storm. When Joseph was in the dry pit where there was no air, food, water or life, it was that peace of heart that sustained him. When everything seems to go wrong, with peace of heart, you can press on. With peace of heart, you can press on, whatever life brings. Remember what David said in Psalm 23:4 - "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil" – because he had peace of heart.
QUESTION: We saw on Emmanuel TV that when you returned from Colombia, you said, “There is a cloud that covers Nigeria… Cloud means trouble. Look at what is happening here. You will not see it on national TV but if you learn that they bombed here, one of you will call CNN that they have bombed The SCOAN… I am telling you something far but now, I am telling you something as close as my mouth." What you said came to pass but why could you not stop it happening?
ANSWER: A servant cannot be greater than his master. I am a servant, taking orders and receiving orders. What He tells me, I say, and what He shows me, I see. His will must always supersede.
QUESTION: The people that died in the tragedy – why do you call them martyrs? What does it mean?
ANSWER: Yes, they had an appointment with God and they didn’t let God go.
QUESTION: How did you manage to put up a CCTV camera directed toward the sky when it is supposed to be focused on a subject or object? How did you have a CCTV camera positioned near the bottom of the building which caught the bomb exploding?
ANSWER: That is because I am a man of vision and mission. Without evidence and proof, I would not remain the man of God you know. God will never allow a challenge that will surmount us; we are always greater than our challenges.
1 Corinthians 10:13 – God will never allow a servant to be tempted beyond what he can bear because the beginning of his mission and the end of his mission are under God's eyes. By this, we know a man of God.
QUESTION: But for the CCTV footage that showed the strange plane and the explosion, what might have been the situation when this happened? What story would you have told?
ANSWER: You mean, if there was no CCTV to capture the plane and the blast of the bomb? Then, there is no vision. A man without vision is a man without God. This is what Gamaliel said in Acts 5:38-39 - "And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it - lest you even be found to fight against God."

On December 29th 2013, Prophet T.B. Joshua declared that the year 2014 would be a 'year of crossing the bridge' .

Religion / Why I Don’t Have Church Branches Everywhere : TB Joshua by gabriel09: 3:57pm On Aug 25, 2014
The cleric, who spoke on Sunday 24th August 2014 at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), stressed on the need for God’s character to be fully established before ministerial expansion.

“I would have loved to have branches all over the world because people want T.B. Joshua everywhere,” he told the congregation. “But it is not yet time because it will be too much for my character. When the load is too heavy for you, it will become a burden.”

He further added that he was not moved by pleas from people but rather relied on God’s instruction. “Not where they want me but where God wants me,” he emphasised, adding that he was not in a haste or hurry and would not jump ahead of God’s timing.

“If you run before God, you cannot run after God,” he continued, explaining that this had been the bane of many businessmen and pastors as their desire to expand superseded their level of character.

His views stand in stark contrast to the popular notion that the amount of branches a church has is indicative of its level of success.

“In a situation where you become so great without God’s character, it means the end is going to be bad,” Joshua went on further to explain, reminding congregants of Jesus’ words in John 14:27 that the world too could provide wealth and fame although with conditions attached.

“When you see someone who is great without God’s character, don’t admire him – pray for him because the beginner is not the owner but the finisher… The beginning and middle are off-record; the end is what will put the record straight.”

The cleric stated that it was even better not to have fame and popularity than to achieve what would eventually end in calamity.

“Character is the one that carries whatever we become. If your wealth is bigger than your character, that wealth will be spending you, not you spending it.”

Joshua stated that one of the secrets of his ministerial success was not being driven by money, explaining that some worshippers were still under canopies in his church not because he lacked the financial capacity to expand but because he was waiting on God.

“There is money to build but money cannot dictate for me. We could expand this place (The SCOAN) and build the biggest church in the world but I allow the Source of money to tell me what to do, not the money itself.”

Joshua also bemoaned the way people complained about their problems as if they bore no responsibility for them, adding that their challenges were not a consequence of God leaving them but rather their choice to live contrary to His ways.

“God does not want you to suffer but you want to suffer,” he soberly stated. “God is always with you but you are not with Him.”

Joshua, who has been the center of several controversies especially within the fold of Nigerian Christendom, added that if not for his persecutors, he would have remained a street-preacher.

According to him, detractors motivated God to bestow more favour and mercy upon his ministry, adding that no billboard can be found advertising The SCOAN yet visitors flock from around the world

“If God has called you, the more they block your way, the more that trouble and temptation, the more God’s love is provoked… Each attempt to stop you asks for more evidence from God.”

The cleric concluded with some profound advice for Christians, calling on them to change their style of prayer. According to Joshua, prayers for blessing, healing and protection were redundant as God is fully aware of the challenges of His children and does not require reminding.

“You need to block the avenue satan is using to afflict you – your weaknesses,” Joshua counseled. “Your prayer should be against weaknesses.”

He further clarified that prayer alone was not enough, stating that genuine desire to desist from bad habits and weaknesses was also essential.

“Live the life of your prayer,” he told the congregation, citing an example that praying for God to help you stop smoking and then picking up a cigarette immediately was akin to hypocrisy. “God always leaves us to play our role before He comes to our rescue,” he concluded.

Food / Making Blue Cheese Potato Salad by gabriel09: 5:26pm On Dec 13, 2013
Blue Cheese Potato Salad

2 bunches green onions -- washed and chopped
5 stalks celery -- chopped
1/2 cup fresh dill -- chopped
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
Add about 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese to 3/4, and mix well

Let mixture sit overnight (very important), as the blue cheese needs to
blend with the dressing. Then, toss dressing with about 5 pounds of
cooked, cut potatoes, more salt, and a little vinegar. I use small red
potatoes, and then cut them into quarters or sixths if they are larger.
I cut them first and then cook them, just until they are done, and then
rinse them in cold water to stop cooking. Then I usually toss them with
a little vinegar and salt - remember, potatoes SOAK up salt.

Food / How to make a Perfect Poached Egg by gabriel09: 1:35pm On Dec 06, 2013
INGREDIENTS
Simmering water, at least 2 inches deep, in a large skillet
1 to 2 tablespoons white vinegar
Each egg, individually broken into a little cup or saucer type dish

Bring water (and vinegar) in skillet to a boil, and then reduce to simmering.
Gently slide the eggs, one by one, into the simmering water.
Do not crowd eggs—you don’t want them touching.
Cover the skillet, turn off the heat, and let stand 4 to 5 minutes,
or until whites are firm and yolks are soft but set.
When done, gently remove eggs from water with a slotted spoon,
being sure to drain off any excess water by tilting spoon on to paper toweling.
This is important because watery-eggs can destroy a good sauce,
water down a favorite recipe, and soggy a crisp piece of toast.
Even if it’s just poached eggs
plain on buttered toast, serve the eggs as dry as you can.

Boil the sugar and water in a large, heavy saucepan for 3-4 minutes. Sieve the peeled bananas into a large bowl containing the lemon juice. Mix quickly and then add to the sugar syrup in the pan while it is still hot. Time is of the essence if the bananas are not to discolor.
Boil the jam gently, stirring all the time as it can stick and burn very easily.
As soon as the jam has thickened sufficiently, pour it into warmed jars and sprinkle a pinch of extra sugar on the surface of the hot jam before sealing tightly and sterilizing for about 10 minutes. Keep in a cool, dark place.
Note: Banana jam is high in nutritional value but will only keep well if perfectly sound, ripe fruit have been chosen and great care taken in its preparation.

Berry Christmas Jam
3 c Fresh cranberries
1 md Seedless orange, peeled and quartered
1 pk (10 oz) frozen sliced strawberries, slightly thawed
1/4 ts Ground cloves
1/4 ts Ground cinnamon
4 c Sugar
1/2 c Water
1 Pouch (3 oz) liquid fruit pectin
In a food processor, combine the cranberries and orange quarters; process until coarsely chopped. Add strawberries, cloves and cinnamon; process until mixture is finely chopped. In a heavy large saucepan, combine fruit mixture, sugar and water until well blended. Stirring constantly over low heat, cook two minutes. Increase heat to high and bring mixture to a rolling boil. Stir in liquid pectin. Stirring constantly, bring to a rolling boil again and boil one minute. Remove from heat; skim off foam. Pour into heat resistant jars with lids. Makes about 3 pints of jam.

Eggplant Jam
3 md Eggplants (3 lb total)
Salt
7 tb Oil, olive
3 Garlic cloves; minced
2 ts Paprika, sweet
1 1/2 ts Pepper, Cayenne or
1/8 ts Harissa
Pepper; freshly ground
3 -to 4 tb Lemon juice, fresh
1 tb Parsley; chopped
3 Lemon wedges or
3 Tomato wedges
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut the stems off the eggplants. Using a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife, peel the skin in 1/2 inch wide strips vertically down each eggplant so you get a striped effect. Slice each eggplant horizontally into 1/2 inch slices. Place in a colander and salt each slice. Let stand 30 minutes, then rinse well and pat dry with paper towels.
Brush a baking sheet with 3 tablespoons of the oil. Lightly brush the eggplant slices with 2 tablespoons oil and place in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, turning occasionally, until the slices are light golden brown on both sides.
Transfer the eggplant to a bowl and, using a fork or potato masher, mash with the garlic, paprika, cumin, water and cayenne. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet. Add the mashed eggplant and fry very slowly, turned occasionally, for about 20 minutes, or until the moisture evaporates. Stir in the lemon juice and cook 1 minute longer. Taste, and season with salt and pepper, if needed.
Place the eggplant on a platter and garnish with parsley and lemon or tomato wedges. Serve warm or at room temperature. This eggplant spread has a jam like consistency. It is made all over North Africa, but this version, with garlic, cumin and lemon juice is one of the most flavorful. Serve it with warm country-style bread or pita.
