Ekaladerhan was the son of ogiso (king of the sky in benin), king and ruler of benin kingdom, who left benin upon scuffle for the throne with his uncle, went west with his followers. He found succour in the west, and took on the name Izoduwa (I walked into the way of prosperity).

Maybe you know the rest history from there.

Eko (meaning camp in benin) was conquered by bini kingdom in the era of Oba Ewuare the great, as was other neighbouring places. Ewuare took on the quest of expanding the kingdom, as any ambitious ruler would do, and took control of those conquered places until the era of the portugues/british.

Now, you're asking why would the Alafin seek the support of the Bini ruler in fighting a war.

In the golden days of old, with kings and rulers lording over their terrain. It was not uncommon for one kingdom to seek help from another kingdom in overcoming either a mutual adversary or otherwise. These usually come with agreements of land or gifts or payments. Etc

I have tried to explain as much as I know of Edo History. Only an edo elder or person more knowlegeable should correct me, and not any maturbator.

Izoduwa is Oduduwa but the other one I don't know him. If Benin is not a Yoruba kingdom, why did the Benin King controlled Lagos and Installed Oba Ado as the first Oba of Lagos sent Eletu-Odibo and Obanikoro as chiefs to support of Lagos.
If Benin was not part of Yoruba why did Alaafin Abiodun seek the help of Oba Benin when the Fulani put Oyo empire under siege.
They are all brothers, Sons of Oranmiyan and Oduduwa.

Bini is part of Yoruba, their first king, Eweka was the Son of Oranmiyan. Since then all the kings are lineage of Eweka Dynasty.
