Health / Common Sicknesses In Children And Proven Ways To Deal With Them. by gakpaniko(m): 12:12pm On Oct 28, 2018
Health and sickness of children

It is widely believed that it is hard for a child to drift away from the way he was brought up. Now, what that means is that whatever actions we take today as grownups are widely influenced by our upbringing. So, if you wake up every morning and things like dressing your bed, brushing your teeth, having your bath come to your mind, it is as a result of how you were directed and instructed much earlier in life. This is one reason why parents should train up their children into perfecting a healthy lifestyle. If you really care for your child's health or you care about the health and sickness of children, then you should keep reading this.
There are three things that help children’s growth, keep them healthy and protect them against many sicknesses. The three things are as follows
1. Nutritious food
2. Cleanliness
3. Vaccination

NUTRITOUS FOOD

Parents are expected to give their children the most nutritious foods they can get, so as to grow well and avoid falling sick at every point in time. From the first to four months of age, a child is required to take only breast milk. From four to one year, you give the child breast milk and other cereals, meat, cooked vegetables, mashed up beans, fruits and eggs. From one year onwards, the child the child can eat the same foods as adults but it should be more often. The child needs cassava, rice, wheat, maize, beans etc. Children should eat at least five times a day.

CLEANLINESS

Children are more likely to be healthy when their homes, environments and their body are kept clean. There are points parents should note in taking care of their children.
1. Bath our children regularly ( at least 3 times a day) and change their clothes often
2. Cut your children’s fingernails and toes very short
3. Teach them to wash their hands before and after eating
4. Treat your children whenever you notice any infection like ringworm, scabies etc
5. Feed your babies with a plate, cup and spoons , not from baby bottles because they can cause illness
6. Maintain clean water, preferably treated or boiled water
7. Do not let a sick child use the same towel or clothe with your child
8. Make sure your children brush their teeth every morning
9. Don’t allow then put dirty things in their mouth
VACCINATIONS
This protects the children against many dangerous diseases of childhood such as measles, tetanus, whooping cough, tuberculosis, etc. It is important to give children vaccinations during their first month. Oral polio should be given to the children not later than two months of age because the risk of developing polio is highest in babies under one year old and for complete protection, the tetanus, whooping cough, tuberculosis and polio vaccines must be given once a month for three months and once again a year later. Tetanus of the new born can also be prevented by vaccinating pregnant mothers
SOME COMMON DISEASES IN CHILDREN
Some common diseases in children are:
 Meningitis
 Cold and flu
 Convulsion
 Skin problems
 Anemia

MENINGITIS

This may come as a complication of measles or other serious illness. Mothers who have tuberculosis, their children may have tuberculosis meningitis. A child that has meningitis will experience head titled way back, the child will be sick and always cry and scream. Also, the child’s neck will be too stiff to bend forward and his body will be making strange movements.

COLD AND FLU

The common cold mild fever, running nose, cough and sore throat is a frequent but not a serious problem in children. Treat that child with paracetamol or aspirin and enough liquid. A child that has cold can quickly get well by eating good food and fruits

CONVULSION IN CHILDREN

Some common causes of convulsion in children are epilepsy, high fever, fever, meningitis and malaria

PREVENTION

Get some garlic, ginger and onions and grind them all properly, mix them with palm kernel oil.

SKIN PROBLEMS

The most common skin problems in children include Ringworm, fungus infections, scabies, diaper rash, eczema, etc
To prevent skin problems:
 Bath and delouse your children often
 Do not allow children with ringworm or scabies sleep or play together with other children. Give them adequate treatment and on time too
 Take control measures against lice, scabies and bedbugs

ANEMIA

In children, anemia can come from not eating foods with iron. It can also come from breast or bottle feeding after six months without giving other foods. It can also come from sickle cell disease and any underlying infections like urinary infections

Preventions and Treatments

 Give your child anti-malaria to prevent and cure malaria
 Improve your child’s diet with more foods rich in iron like groundnuts, beans, eggs, green leafy vegetables and lentils.
 Take the child to a health worker to check for sickle cell disease and any underlying infections like urinary infection

NOTE: Don’t give iron tablet to a small child or baby. Give iron as liquid or crush the tablet into powder and mix with food.

Health / Could You Have Fibroid And Don't Know? Causes And What Single Ladies Should Know by gakpaniko(m): 5:01pm On Oct 23, 2018
Fibroid! Many times I have pondered over why the bad girls end up with pregnancy and the good girls end up with fibroid. They are 'good' in this sense because they do not involve in sexual intercourse, which equals the absence of pregnancy, of which is the cause of fibroid and not the absence of sex

Fibroids are firm and compact tumors that develop in the uterus(womb). It is surprising that half of all the women walking around are carrying tumors in their wombs; this presumption is as a result of the unbelievable percentage of women carrying such, most times, without their knowledge.

Below are important things single women should know about fibroid.

Causes of fibroid

High intake of starchy food

If you are a lady and you are so in love with starchy foods, it is time you checked that aspect of your eating and do something about it. Starchy foods are high in sugar and can awaken cancerous cells in the body

Starchy foods, in the long run, amount to abnormal weight gain as they always later convert to fats. Now, this abnormal weight gain has the possibility of causing fibroid or any form of benign cancer

Excessive abortion

Despite the fact that the removal of pregnancy gives the relief and a kind of satisfaction, the effects are not all fine and fancy. Apart from the fact that the lady stands the risk of damaging her womb which amounts to the inability to conceive, there are high chances of having a fibroid.

Based on the genes

Science has made us understand the issues of heredity. In a case where the mother of a girl child has genes coding for fibroid in her, there are possibilities that when the child grows up, it would be found in her also.

Inappropriate use of contraceptives

Contraceptives normally are used for preventing pregnancies. These contraceptives, as they duly carry out their major goal, they equally have their side effects.  As a matter of fact,  there have been series of studies that have linked causes of cancer, of which fibroid is an example,  to oral contraceptive pills

Overeating

If you as a lady who is not supposed to eat much do not watch your eating and cut down where necessary, you might be inviting fibroid

Symptoms of fibroid

Steady menstrual pain

It is advised to women to always observe and have a good understanding of their body system. If you notice constant pain while in your period, then there are chances that you have a fibroid. It is adviced at this point to seek medical attention as quickly as possible

Heavy menstrual flow

Although it is normal among women who have not reached menopause to have a heavy flow from time to time, yet, researchers have proven that heavy menstrual flow can be caused by benign growth in form of fibroid

Some level of pain during sexual intercourse

Normally, a woman isn't supposed to experience pain during sex. Pain during sex could be linked to a fibroid in the uterus. When a woman is having sex and she doesn't feel comfortable, then there should be a cause for worry.

Blood stains from the vagina during sex

The only time this is normally expected to occur is when the hymen is broken( virginity). Bloodstain from a woman who is no longer a virgin while having sex is a problem and should be directed to a physician in case there is an early growth of fibroid in the uterus

It is possible for a woman to have fibroid without her knowledge, which is why women are expected to be sensitive to their systems and have a great level of understanding of how they work.

Health / Just Treated Gonorrhea...how Long Do I Wait Before Having Sex Again? by gakpaniko(m): 4:41pm On Oct 23, 2018
Before we progress, let me just chip in this fact; as many men or women that are actively involved in sex, there are possibilities of having gonorrhea. Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that can affect both men and women. It can cause infections in the throat, genitals, and rectum, most commonly among 15-24 and could have a lot of complications but using the right medication, it can be cured.

So it is quite unfair to yourself if you further treat yourself bad by wanting to give up. You don't give up because you are diagnosed with gonorrhea. There are a lot of other people in your shoes who are taking the necessary steps in treating the disease because, hey!  it is curable!

Before I share the way out of this unpleasant health situation, it is expedient to have an understanding of how this disease could be spread from one person to another.

How is Gonorrhea spread
Gonorrhea majorly can be spread by having sex, both vaginal, anal and MouthAction. It is weird when people ask questions about the possibilities of having the disease through MouthAction. In a situation where one has MouthAction with someone who has gonorrhea and has a sore in the mouth, there is obviously a large propensity of contracting the disease.

Having revealed this, it is time to know ways to reduce the risk of contracting the virus.

Ways to reduce the risk of contracting the virus
The only reliable way to avoid gonorrhea is by abstaining from all forms of sexual activity because it definitely cannot find its way into the system if there was nothing done to have warranted its presence. In other words, abstinence is the safest means of prevention.

However, if you are sexually active and the first option seemed impossible to you, it is understandable. This is why it is advised to;

Maintain a relationship with a single partner following series and steady tests
Use proper latex condoms the right way when used.

Are you at risk?
Like I said earlier, as long as you are sexually active, there is a large chance of having gonorrhea. Gays, Ladies between 25, Women above 25 who have more than one sexual partners should make sure they run tests as often as possible

How to know if you have Gonorrhea
Gonorrhea in some men surfaces no symptoms in any way. However, men who have gonorrhea may have:

A severe burning sensation when they try to urinate
A yellow, white, or green discharge from the penis
Painful or swollen testicles.

The case is quite similar to women who have gonorrhea as most of them do not have symptoms equally. However, it could be mistaken for a bladder or vagina infection. Women who have the disease stand a high chance of developing severe complications via the infection. Pregnant women can also transfer the disease to the children.

Symptoms in women include

Painful or burning sensation when urinating.
An unusual increase in vaginal discharge.
Bleeding in the vaginal between periods.

Rectal infections may either cause no symptoms or cause symptoms in both men and women that may include:

Discharge
Anal itching
Soreness
Bleeding
Painful bowel movements.

You should be examined by your doctor if you notice any of these symptoms or if your partner has an STD or symptoms of an STD, such as an unusual sore, a smelly discharge, burning when urinating, or bleeding between periods.

Health / If You Don't Follow These Steps You Might Have Issues During Pregnancy by gakpaniko(m): 3:54pm On Oct 23, 2018
Pregnancy is the heart desire of a lot of young women out there.
Now, you might find this post a little useful if you are desiring to have a child or you are still bearing children. If you do the folowing, you and your baby will be happier, healthier, safe, and saner all through your pregnancy.

Keep your blood sugar level up

You can do this by taking more of a whole, healthy foods and of course, plenty of protein. Make sure these constitute your little but frequent meals all day. You should also vary your diet

Keep yourself hydrated

If you ask me I would say Plain water is great and perfect. SEE ALSO: see striking causes of infertility and early pregnancy loss                    You could add a spoonful of sugar and a pinch of salt to your water if you can't keep water down due to nauseation. The effect of that is rehydration and easing you off your nausea

Get plenty of rest.
[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]
This is very important. During pregnancy, everything should be done in moderation. You should time yourself, give yourself at least a 10mins break as often as you can. Take a nap about lunchtime and take a nap before dinner. You should go to sleep early and rise as late as you can accommodate.

Never fail to uphold confidence in your body

You need to ignore the inevitably negative stories you will hear about childbearing and its ordeals. You should stay positive minded and you could do this by looking for positive information about childbirth and pregnancy. Your body system is endowed with all it needs at childbirth. You should not give in to anyone who is trying to make you think your body could fail you at delivery. In fact, try to avoid these set of people or better still, tell them to tell you about their horror stories after you have your baby. People might come around you to tell you about what they think is the best thing to do or the best way to behave or act during childbirth. Know this, there is no one best to give birth to every woman. You can discover your best way. Guess what? You will find it easier doing that only when you filter the negative vibes about childbirth

Hire a midwife.

You may say you don’t think you need the services of a midwife, however, it is good to start with the services of a midwife first. Why? She definitely is a more experienced person. This means she will give you adequate advice and guide you aright on nutrition and taking care of yourself during pregnancy. So, even if you think you will not have your baby in the house or have a midwife-attended birth, you still need the services of a midwife or a midwife figure.

If you are a single lady and you care to know about your risk of having a fibroid and passing through CS(Cesarian Section) click here: www.stillonhealth.com

Hire a Doula

A lot of people do not understand the value of the services of a doula. The interest of this person is to take care of your emotional well being and your comfort  issues
This might come in handy for you if you have a whole lot of nosy family and friends. You should add 2weeks to the official due date when telling people about your pregnancy. Do you know why? First, it saves you the whole post-due-date syndrome where you have your mother in law calling on a regular and going “Hey Hannah, you had that baby yet?” Also, it is more realistic. Did you know that 50% of first time moms take over a week late to deliver? Did you also know that even after several deliveries, a lot of women go quite past the due delivery date, sometimes with 3 days late being the average and up to 14 days late being normal?

Ask questions about your care

It is adviced of you as a pregnant woman to be smart, inquisitive, sensitive, observant and responsible. This is because it is expected of you to be fully are of the fact that you are in absolute control of two lives, hence,  you should act and live as such. You should ask questions. For example, when your doctor recommends a test, such as ultrasound or blood test; you have the right and more fundamentally, a responsibility to ask questions such as “what is this test?” “why is it necessary?” “What are we going to learn from this?” “ what should we do with this information?” “are there alternatives?” “what are the consequences of ignoring it?” and many other questions. You should know that whatever issue comes up on running tests, it finally ends with you taking the final decision. There may be side effects to any tests. You may choose to ignore or consent. You and your family are the ones to live with the consequences of choices about your care. Almost every test has a good reason for carrying it out or ignoring the test, it all depends on what you want, priorities and situation. It is funny how every test carries risks and how there are some risks in not knowing. Finally, which risk are you willing to take?

You should seek knowledge, attend classes and be educated enough to make wise and smart choices and decisions about the care you receive

However, in all your quest for acquisition of knowledge, you should understand that when it comes down to the main issue when it is time for delivery, you need to lay every bit of knowledge and education you have acquired down and let your body do what it is designed to do. This is because you don’t have to be taught to birth successfully. Note, this does not imply that you should just give up and go off during childbirth, but on the contrary, what is meant is that you don’t have to depend  on a specific technique someone told you to get through contraction well and you don’t need to hold your breath and count to 10 to push your baby to the world. Every woman is innately inclined to give birth without necessarily being told how to go about it. You may ask? What should be my attitude in the labour room? Be willing to experience all that is involved in childbirth, this includes the pain and all that comes with it, and to follow the leading of your body. If you surrender to your body, it will definitely tell you what to do

You need to be mindful of the people you allow to be with you during labour

Every person in that labour room should consciously have your interest and safe delivery as the utmost priority. Not just that, they should be committed to helping you find your best way through labour. They take a step back if needed, give you privacy with just you and one of your support team if you request for it.  You should not worry yourself about anything during labour. Your emotional, professional, family issues and every other form of disturbances you may be going through at that period should be suspended. You are also under no obligation whatsoever to invite people you don’t want to be at your childbirth. If you feel the presence of certain people will help you feel relaxed at delivery, that is great! Just don’t get caught away and mistake it for a social event. Especially for the first pregnancy, it is good to reduce the number of people present at delivery. Let's say your partner,  a labour support person, may be a friend or family who can be helpful without being intrusive. You may ask why. All these are because labour is more of a personal and intimate experience. You need almost the same state of mind that makes you reach orgasm during childbirth. Know this, it is usually harder birth when you are surrounded by too many people.

Maintain good parental care.

This is having and maintaining a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy. What should be done during this period is maintaining a healthy lifestyle and being frequent at the hospital for regular check up. Among the first thing, you should do when you notice you are pregnant is to schedule an appointment with your doctor. The doctor will in return carry out all necessary steps to ensure your comfortability and health stability during the period. A urine test will be taken for sugar level, bacteria, protein level. A blood test also will be taken. On your first visit, the doctor may check the size and shape of your uterus, screen for cervical cancer, ultrasound to view baby’s growth and position. You should still maintain a regular visit with your doctor. When you meet with your doctor questions to ask him to include; advice weight gain, what to eat, vitamins, how long you can keep working, exercises, sex, what you can do to feel better.
There are a whole lot of other things you are expected to do during pregnancy to aid safe delivery. They shall be discussed subsequently...

If you have other issues concerning pregnancy, then all your problems are solved. See www.stillonhealth.com for related topics

Health / Can You Really Get Rid OF Stds? by gakpaniko(m): 8:41am On Oct 23, 2018
SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES

Sexually transmitted diseases are usually spread by sexual contact. They have early signs

Some STDs are:

1. AIDS
2. Syphilis
3. Gonorrhea
4. Sores on the genitals.
Let's look at them one after the other.

AIDS(Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).

AIDS is a very dangerous disease that is spread from one person to another by the help of a virus. It reduces the body's ability to fight disease. Somebody with AIDS can get sick easily because the ability of the body to fight diseases is no longer there. AIDS are spread when the blood, vaginal fluid or sperm of someone with the virus enters the body of another person.

AIDS can  be spread through:

Blood transfusion
Having sex with someone who has the AIDS virus
Using the same needles or syringe without sterilizing it
An infected mother can pass it to her unborn child

Symptoms of AIDS

Severe fever
Gradual loss of weight
Skin Rashes
Tuberculosis
Diarrhea
Constant feeling of tiredness
A severe cough

Treatment

AIDS as we speak, have no cure. People who are diagnosed with AIDS#, however, should not necessarily be made to sleep alone due to fear of transfer of the virus.  Contact with infected person skin or breath cannot transfer the infection

Ways to prevent AIDS

AIDS can be prevented by:

Having protected sex(the use of condoms)
Avoid having sex with prostitutes
Avoid sharing of syringe or needles except it is sterilized
Not accepting transfusion of blood when it hasn't been tested
Having sex with just one partner. If you have more than one sexual partner, use condoms, though it is not 100% safe.

SYPHILIS
This is a common and dangerous disease spread from one person to another through sexual contact.

Symptoms of Syphilis

One symptom is that you find the person having sore which may look like blister, pimple or an open sore. This sore usually appears in the genital area of the man or the woman and it is full of germs. This sore appears two to five weeks after sexual contact with a person that has the disease. The sore is also usually painless.
The sore can last a few days and goes away without any treatment but the disease continues spreading throughout the body
The person may develop swollen joints, milf fever or mouth sores.
The infected person may develop ring-shaped welts, a painful rash or pimples all over the body or an itchy rash on the feet or hands. All these signs may go away by themselves but it doesn't mean that the person is well and without adequate treatment, syphilis can move to any part of the body to cause paralysis, heart disease, insanity, and other sicknesses

Treatment

You should go to the hospital to proper diagnosis and adequate treatment
Get some quantity of ginger, lime, melon bunch and garlic, boil for 30 mins

Dosage: 1 glass, 2 times daily

still on sexually transmitted diseases

GONORRHEA
This sis a disease of swxual organs and it is caused by having sex with an infe cted person. A person diagnosed with gonorrhea is likely to also have chlamydia, andthese two should be treated at the same time.

Signs in Women

A woman with gonorrhea may experience urinary problems
She will experience pain in the lower body
If a pregnant woman has gonorrhea and it is not treated before she gives birth, the baby may get blind due to the infection
She may become sterile
She may have a slight vaginal discharge
The person may experience menstrual problems

Signs in Men

He may experience rash or sore all over his body
He sees drops of pus from his penis
The person may become sterile
He may find it difficult to urinate
He may experience painful swelling in one or both ankles, wrist or knees
Sometimes he may experience painful swelling of the testicles
Treatment

Men who are infected should be treated along with their wives because if the wife is not treated at the same time, there are possibilities of her transferring the disease back to the husband
Go to the hospital to receive  proper and adequate treatment
Protect the eyes of the newborn babies to prevent blindness
SORES ON THE GENITALS
Any single or painless sore on the genitals may be a sign of syphilis, but severe sore are likely to be signs of other sexually transmitted diseases such as genital herpes, genital warts or chancroid,

TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES

You must be careful with your sexual partner. Anyone who has more than one sexual partner has a higher tendency of having these diseases. Prostitutes and sexual workers stand a high risk. It is advised to maintain a sexual partner to reduce the risk of having these diseases.
Condoms could help, but they are not 100% reliable
