I think you've twisted the whole idea, in programming Text is string, just that string is a type (data type) while text is the data. when working with mysql database, i normally use mysql_fetch_array so that i can treat the data as both normal and associative array, you can also use mysql_fetch-assoc if you intend to treat your data as associative array.

In my own opinion, any body giving a high rating to NIIT is very limited in knowledge, NIIT is fairly ok, but they don't worth the lump sum as cost of Tuition, they are just bunch indian professionals who have come to rip us off the little money we have.
1. NIIT charge higher in Nigeria. 2. They curriculm is funny and obsolate. Prove: Imagine an institution who call it' self the best in africa offering dreamweaver and Macromedia fireworks as courses for website design, such institution should be able to offer raw coding in xhtml on as text editor notepad (any body who can write code in notepad can use any text editor in the world). They only offer consol aplication development on linux. How could an institution who want to empower nigerian programmers to succeed teach them to programm on a platform that literally do not exist in their country, we all know that windows rules africa, then why is NIIT not offering windows programming, we all know that the use to consol applications (MS DOS) is limited to macro computers like ATM, PDA etc, then why is NIIT is offering only consol application programming and not GUI programming or both. Who will even give a consol application programmer job to do? is it a university who needs a database system or the government or the private sector (Note that the most common programming jobs you get in nigeria is a database system with you
