Banks will usually not borrow you money except you use your salary account (in case of no collateral)

Infact what qualifies you for loan is your salary, he probably took the loan when he's still employed and couldn't pay off before he was laid off

His plan might be to use the salary of his new job to offset the loan, so that is possible

you might want to go back and read the story again? He was working before he had the job offer in the superstore, so which means steady income. The only time he has been out of work is just about a month now, then all of a sudden the account is red and 40k disappeared into the account like that. Remember he was paid the month of October in cash, why didn’t he pay the money into the account to maybe clear some part of the loan if he really wants to pay off?

But why use an account that you know is on negative balance as your salary account for the company in the first place?.
