Brosst:/ Not your problem. You had no prior arrangements with the company to credit the account neither did you withdraw the money. If the accountant knows where he sent the money, he should go and retrieve it. You cannot be bearing the stress for an incompetent accountant. \ 2 Likes 1 Share |

thebosstrevor1: Wait, wait, wait... Arrest him for what? Was it his fault? Shouldn't the account have been more careful in carrying out his duties? Let him give the op a breather, please. The OP is not working. How do you want him to get the money to pay back. Not like he stole or it was his fault and you're trying to put fire on his butt to pay back. From where? Op, since you don't have any source of income, just tell the man not to disturb you until you get a job and are able to pay back. They caused you to lose the job you were managing only to dump you causing you to collapse. Now they have come to give you BP. It's like they sent them from the pit of hell. Rubbish! Tell the guy, since he's working, let him pay the money for now pending when you are able to pay back. He's an accountant, he should know how to go about it. It's his debt, not yours. Don't kill yourself with worries. 2 Likes |

thebosstrevor1: First, let me say l am against owing and not paying back. I am also against any sort of dubious action, when it comes to debt. @bolded. I think you are wrong, they cannot arrest him if he knows his rights because he has not committed any crime. Reasons: 1) He did not trick or ask the Accountant to transfer money into his account 2) The error of transfer has nothing to do with him. 3) He did NOT withdraw a kobo of the transferred money (He will commit an offence if he used the money) 4) The usage of the money was not done by him but by an AUTOMATIC ACTION of his Creditors that he owed 5) He was not aware that the money was coming-in and that his Creditors will remove the money, without this knowledge 6)He has no intention of not returning the money IF and IF it was in his account and had not been taken by his Creditor So, what will they arrest him for? That his Creditor took the money? That he could not stop the creditor from taking it? That they made a transfer mistake? Even if they intimidate him with Police (and he should contact a Human Rights Lawyer immediately), he still cant refund the money because he does not have it and did not take it. He just needs to explain to them what transpired, assuming he is telling the truth. The best they can do, is either to speak with his Creditor, to say the money taken from his account was not his or give him his job back and they deduct it from his pay or hope that he would get another job and arrange an instalment repayment plan with him. BTW: For Sacking him, they should be paying him a severance pay because they had made him loose his stable employment and thrown him into the labour market. I am tempted to say 'Na God catch dem' 2 Likes |

OP, tell your friends your situation and solicit assistance from them to return the company money. Have you ever heard of "integrity test"? Remember in your own words "temporary lay off letter" was issued to you in this case. IMO, the company may want to test your integrity. Better still be sincere and open up every to them. You will not be killed! |

Take your phone with transaction details to them so that they can see all with their eyes. Even, try to do the borrow from access bank in their presence and show them your statement of account |

Inasmuch as am not doubting the authenticity of the OP's story, but I noticed that all the posts telling him to prove that he is saying the truth was ignored by him. Someone volunteered to help him but simply demanded to see the statement of account where the 40k entered and left and also a letter of termination from the company. He saw these messages and ignored them. My question is Brosst why did you ignore those statements asking for proof from you? 1 Like |

Micval:you might want to go back and read the story again? He was working before he had the job offer in the superstore, so which means steady income. The only time he has been out of work is just about a month now, then all of a sudden the account is red and 40k disappeared into the account like that. Remember he was paid the month of October in cash, why didn’t he pay the money into the account to maybe clear some part of the loan if he really wants to pay off? Here was what he told the account guy “ And I explained to him that I don't usually receive funds in that particular account because i took a loan from access bank which is overdue and I'm yet to pay them” which means he did not use that account as his salary account with the company. So how come money don disappear, then suddenly na the account wey him no de use money come enter? Reason am bros |
