This african man called Jibril is an immigrant in Valencia, Spain. Jibril picked an envelope containing €4,250 (over 1M Nigerian naira) on one of the streets in Valencia few days ago.

Jibril then chose to play a hero and decided to take the envelope containing the money to the police and handed it over to police officers.

The officers and everyone around were surprised.

The police officer in charge then asked Jibril who is also an illegal immigrant to make a statement and its at that moment that they asked him to present his personal papers (ID)

The police officer then discovered that Jibril did not have a residence card (ID) to prove that he was legally living in Spain. He was then immediately detained.

Sadly, Jibril was last week deported back to his home country in Africa and banned for years without ever stepping a foot in Spain! Copied.

What lesson can we learn from this?

Nairaland GeneralHow Not To Be An Extremist In Anything by ganioo(op): 8:45pm On Jul 29, 2016
The world would have been a better place if all are regularly and consistently up and doing. The problem is that we do this today and tomorrow we fail in doing it. How then do we master what we don’t practise consistently?
Also, I have come to understand that everything we do in this world should not be in excess but in moderation. Extremism in anything is bad! If you sleep don’t sleep too much. If you are up make sure you sleep at a point. The fact that God does not like the extreme is embedded in his act of setting limits to everything. The sun will run its course for an appointed time (within the day) and the moon does as well.
The matter of consistency and extremism is most time misunderstood. But these two phenomena should not be misunderstood as they are different as day is to night. If you are consistent in what you do, there is a regular and persistent effort towards mastery of it. However, an extremist does not necessarily master the act upon which he is extreme but delude himself that he is better than others while staying with it with inadequate knowledge.
Consistency makes us look for better ways of doing what we do through the acquisition of new knowledge. Note; if you are doing something and you are not getting better at it, you are definitely getting worst.
For the extremists, what someone says always define their thought and actions, often you hear them say our Pastor or Imam said this and that. Extremists that are ‘poorly educated’ base their own argument on inadequate information which they mistakenly came across majorly through the internet, the inadequate information that might have been adequately manipulated by a less educated person(s).
Any sensitive person knows that anything that does not allow you to grow mentally, spiritually and physically is dangerous; therefore they stay away from it as much as they could. Do not joke with extremism; it is more dangerous than ignorance. It actually turns an educated person to an ignorant. And it also helps in destroying towns and cities. Stay away from extremism, just be consistent.

Nairaland GeneralThe Two Political Gladiators Of The West by ganioo(op): 9:14pm On May 28, 2016
Focus of the week May 25 1965.

On this week, precisely may 25 1962, the police quelled the riot that occurred during the motion of confidence in new west premier, Chief S.L. Akintola. Akintola was one of the premiers in Nigeria; the other two were Ahmadu Bello and Michael Okpara of the northern and eastern region respectively.
The western region was under the control of Action Group (AG) a party that had Chief Obafemi Awolowo as its leader and Chief S.L. Akintola as the premier of the west. The party was strong and united until 1962 when personality and interest clashes began between the two political maestros (Awolowo and Akintola). This led to the aforementioned motion of confidence in Akintola.
The vote of no confidence went through and the governor of the region, Sir Adesoji Aderemi, was advised to remove Akintola as the primer, which he did. However, the crisis that ensued made the federal government declared a state of emergency in the west and appointed Dr. Koye Majekodunmi as the administrator of the region.
The Federal government’s declared state of emergency last for six months, after which Akintola was reinstated as the premier. With Chief Awolowo charged with treasonable felony and later sentenced to ten years imprisonment, the tension in the western region mounted.
Furthermore, the western election of 1965 was largely influence by the Action Group (AG) crisis of 1962. In 1965, the rivalry in the west was now between United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA) and the Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP). UPGA represented the defunct Action Group (AG) and NNDP was the new party formed by S.L. Akintola. With Chief Awolowo in prison Alhaji Adegbenro took the mantle of leadership of the new political party, UPGA. But, the 1965 election was fraught with lot of irregularities which favored the ruling NNDP. UPGA leadership rejected the result of the election, and the leader, Adegbenro, declared himself the primer of the region. Chief Akintola was later sworn in as premier and Adegbenro was arrested. The arrest of Adegbenro sparked off violent demonstration. This crisis gave rise to the popular operation wet’e. The violence lasted until the military coup of January 15 1966.
There is nothing to gain this history than the lesson it teaches. As great as the politicians of the first republic were, they allowed personal interest to override their collective interest. Also, poor ego management and the love of power were also part the problems of these political champions. Their actions caused Nigeria the regional system that was very strong and organized. Even the coup of 1966 was not unconnected to these crises.
I urge Nigerian leaders to learn from history and, at all time, place the country’s interest above their personal interest. A Wiseman once said; when our power of love overcomes our love for power, the world will know peace. That is when patriotism will be exalted and Nigeria will be great again. Thank you!
