As said earlier, our machines are fabricated to peel at more than 90% effectiveness and will wash clean at 100% capacity. Our peelers would be tested at the factory at the request of the buying client, after fabrication, before delivery.

But sometimes, they peel at 70-80% capacity. This is the reason for this article- why?


There are a number of factors that determines if your cassava will peel at the factory preset capacity or not.

1. The speed of the machine.

Many believe bits just logical that when a peeling machine is fast, it peels faster. Well, it won't. I'm fact, it might not peel at all. So, the factory set speed is what you need and sometimes, the speed needs to be lowered to cater for weight.


2. The type of cassava.

The type of Cassava, the species of the cassava will determine how effectively it'll peel. The reason is simple, cassava with a hard skin will peel less effectively. But with our peelers, even with the stubborn skinned cassava, 80% peeling is assured and there's no need for manual finishing.

3. The skin of the Cassava

Many had asked why their peeler's peeling capacity fluctuates. Sometimes, it peels by 90% and above and sometimes, it's peels lesser. People should understand that the skin of the cassava is mostly affected by type of soil it is planted on. From my experience, cassava from the Northern part of Nigeria mostly hard to peel because they have very hard skin. Though, it will peel, but not close to 90% at all. But enough to eliminate manual finishing

Unlike many horizontal peelers our peelers have been perfected to peel the second layer, more effectively and in less time. Less than 15minutes per batch. You can watch the video below.

The second type of peelers are the horizontal types and are mostly uncommon or outdated because it actually takes a lot of efforts to do. It should be noted that this peelers are not necessarily effective in peeling if not done right. But it sure washes clean at 100%. These peelers will eventually peel like their vertical counterparts unless it is well improved on. That is, every peeler will not peel the second layer unless it is improved. But this peeler will wash your cassava, while peeling, by 100%.

The answer is quite simple, but let me explain to you, a little about the peeling machine

The peeling machine does not actually peel, it scrapes. Gone are the days that peelers are made with sharp knife-like metals that are meant to peel to mimic the conventional way. Now, it scrapes. And the effectiveness of this is dependent on many factors.

You should note this, the peeling machines are of two types, the vertical type and the horizontal type.

The vertical ones are more easy to fabricate and doesn't, I repeat, will never peel your cassava to whiteness because the second layer that is required of can never be removed with that method. The vertical peeler uses a method of abrasive by way of sharp sands and a bit of gypson and a strong adhesive. This adhesive will ensure the sand, which performs the scraping is not chipped from the bonding and contaminate your cassava. This type is effective but cannot peel the second layer of cassava. Emphasis is on CAN NEVER peel it!
