There seems to be a mechanical issue going on with your transmission( with respect to the whine). Did you recently perform an ATF fliud change?
Knock sensor can definitely cause transmission shifting concerns. So I strongly suggest you fix that first. Most likely rats might have eaten up the wires?
Please note that accessing the knock sensors is not DIY for most people.

Dear all, I recently noticed a low pitched winning noise in the transmission a few week ago. I checked the fluid level and condition, all was okay. I did a 500km Journey recently, the next day, I noticed a hard thud while shifting to drive. Now the car jerks intermittently while driving. Pls help. I am in a remote location so can't scan the car. My potable scanner shows that knock sensors on both banks are bad. Gazzuzz and co...pls help me.

more investigation is needed, probably the tyre has something stuck in it or
if its drum brakes at the end, the drum assembly has loosen or
the sound is not related to the tyre but something else

solution
A mechanic needs to drive the car and recommend what the problem is, if the mechanic now says you need to change brainbox, then look for a more qualified personnel

Hello! I just noticed a sound similar to that when u have a flat tyre on my car. Visual inspection confirmed that the tyres are actually pressurized. I keep hearing this sound when I accelerate from the passenger's side. Please help!

replace the knock sensors. If in P.H call chucks +234 803 312 3865 will do a standard job.

the knock sensors help engine ecu to adjust timing, if scan says both are bad engine will ping not rattle. Rattle is related to engine wear! Damage. Replacing knock sensors will require a removal of your engine intake to access them. If in abuja, contact my oga that posted above, he will do an excellent job. your car will also get stuck in third gear when driving, be careful do not to travel with it.

Thanks a lot for the enlightenment sir, scan revealed P0325 and P0330. Unfortunately I travelled with the car recently and even did speeds of between 160- 180km/hr. No pinging sounds were noticed and the gear changed smoothly above 3rd and so on. Could it be that my knock sensors are still okay? If yes, why the codes? Am in PH. Pls help. The car hesitates to reach optimum acceleration some times, but picks up after a while when I accelerate.

P1155 - airfuel sensor bank 1 sensor 2. Could be its faulty. The heater element could be bad or a bad electrical connection, this sensors monitors air fuel mixture and the value is used to determine how much fuel to be used for combustion (14.7 : 1)

P0325- knock sensor circuit. Located at the rear of the cylinder block. Helps detect engine vibration and could retard timing btw 3degrees - 5 degrees

P0330- ignition/distributor engine speed circuit malfunction, fault could range from faulty speed reference sensor, faulty ignition coil. This can cause a misfire and can make your car stall

Pls help, just did a scan on Toyota highlander 2002 V6 and got the codes P1155, P0330 and P0325. What could be wrong? Can faulty spark plugs cause all these? Noticed something like a misfire some days back.

I replaced the switch and everything seems normal now. Just that i traveled with the car and noticed that the kick down function wasn't as smart as it was before. Could it be that the switch I got isn't soo good?

Go to the market with the one in your car so you don't purchase the one with a different pin (I think there is 10pin and 13pin version - not sure of the pin versions though but there are different types)
